I use macbook pro 2011 late and yosemite.
I already use disable hyperthread.
But upgrade to yosemite, hyperthread is not dead
In Win7 (bootcamp), hyperthread is still alive.
I want to disable hyperthread.
How do i do ?
Please Let me know this method...

The same happens in Mac OS 10.8.5.
Edit:
It seems turning OFF "Open Documents as Tabs" in "Prefs>User Interface" fixes the problem for me.

I am a software engineer with a startup that makes a mathematical optimization system (linear and integer programming). Our software is already multi-threaded, and it runs much faster when hyperthreading is disabled. This is true on all platforms we've tested, including the 2009 'Nehalem' Mac Pro.
In OS X, I know you can temporarily disable hyperthreading through the Processor preference pane, as well as through the hwprefs command in Terminal. However, hyperthreading is turned back on if you resume from Sleep or reboot OS X. And worse, I cannot figure out how to disable hyperthreading if I boot into the 64-bit kernel.
Bottom line: is there a permanent way to disable hyperthreading on the 2009 Nehalem Mac Pro? On a Windows or Linux system, I know that I can disable hyperthreading in the BIOS; I'm looking for something equivalent for a Mac Pro. Thanks.

You're aware though of how effective CUDA is for compilers, computational and scientific and anything parallel I would assume.
I constantly hear about linux performance being better, and I think Windows 7 has eliminated a lot of issues and better optimized.

Intel works closely with, and has updated their compiler libraries but then it takes time to actually learn how to use, and I often get the feeling developers are being pulled away to work on the latest iGadget and iOS and a really optimized Mac OS X for Nehalem etc once Snow Leopard is put to bed - is further out and lower on priority.

I'm trying to disable the Bonjour service advertising in Yosemite / Mac OS X 10.10.
Unfortunately the instructions in OS X: How to disable Bonjour service advertising without disabling DNS no longer apply, since Yosemite no longer has /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.mDNSResponder.plist
I did some digging around and there's someone who made a script to disable it in various Mac OS versions, including supposedly Yosemite: https://github.com/MacMiniVault/Mac-Scripts/blob/master/disablebonjour/disablebo njour-README.md
I had a look at the script to find out what it does and manually inserted "--no-multicast" as string under Program Arguments in /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.discoveryd.plist
Doing so, will mess up the wi-fi. Networks only show when wi-fi is off, and turning it on makes it seem like it's off and I'm never able to connect until I undo the changes described above.
Wondering if:
1) The result from changes above is expected or is it a bug?
2) If Apple can update OS X: How to disable Bonjour service advertising without disabling DNS to include instructions for Yosemite.
3) Did anyone here manage to disable Bonjour service advertising in Yosemite without introducing any new issues?

At EVERY restart and boot I get the message, "To Open 'CS5ServiceManager' you need to install the legacy Java SE 6 runtime.

Want to disable hyperthreading on MSI A6200

I have a MSI A6200 (Core i3-350M etc.). I would like to disable hyperthreading to get lower latency for professional real-time audio use [1]. I think hyperthreading is enabled -- at least, Core i3 is a dual-core chip and Linux sees four CPUs.
I see lots of threads on the board about enabling hyperthreading, but information about disabling it is hard to come by. I had a quick look in the BIOS settings, but didn't see anything obviously related to hyperthreading or SMT.
Also, if I have to flash the bios to get this, and I want to go back to hyperthreading = enabled later, how?

Does anyone know How to Disable "Auto Align" in [System Preferences] -> [Display] -> [Arrangement]?
It always want to align the two screens from the top when they are lined up close together and I need them to be aligned from the bottom. Since the resolution heights are so close together (1080 & 1050) it does not allow one to align side by side from the bottom as it prioritizes top alignment.
I guess I'm looking for a script to disable this feature.

The problem is as follows.
The default behaviour of Acrobat Reader (both stand alone and browser plug-in) is to allow scrolling/swiping with the mouse wheel/trackpad. This is useful when the pdf's page length is greater than the screen's own length, because you can read the pdf with no need to distract your attention from the text to the scrollbar button. However, the same scroll/swipe function turns into a usability problem when the pdf is embedded in a html page and the pdf's page length is smaller than the browser's length. In this case, the scroll/swipe turns the page, distracting your attention from the text to the unintended behaviour of the browser. What happens is that you are so used to scrolling/swiping that you did it unintentionally in the pdf's caption area. You really did not want to turn pages in the pdf. Furthermore, if the pdf takes the whole html page, being a website, the scroll/swipe function flips the website pages in ways that neither the reader nor the writer had ever intended. Hence the question. How to disable, in this case, the "turn page" event triggered by the scroll/swipe function? A JavaScript should do, but the SDK documents did not help so far...

I've had this problem ever since I was at my friend's house- she has Apple TV- and my iPad connected automatically. So, I have no idea why any of the practical solutions that people think of are not options BUT, in terms of just getting it done, I did figure out a way. The key for me was getting near another Apple TV. I was out of town so I took my iPad to another friend's house who also has TV. Once I was logged onto their wireless network (the same network that their Apple TV is on-- that's how it connected in the first place), then the Airplay icon and options showed up from the bottom-draw menu and I was able to make sure that mirroring was turned off from the Apple TV section and to make sure the selection was on iPad instead. Problem solved. Now whether or not this will stay the same (rather than me having to make sure it stays at this setting everytime I link up to a network that has an Apple TV on it) I don't know. So my advice is find someone with Apple TV and connect to their network with your iPad and then change it.

If you see that pop up you enabled icloud. Whether you want or do not want now to use it irrelevant until you actually disable activation lock.
In order to do that you have to change your apple id back to do that just long enough to sign in and back out. System will ask you to verify, don't.
Just sign in on the prompt you getting and then logout. Once done, change apple id to what you have now and verify. Then decide if you want to
use icloud (who does not want to be able to track their phone if lost or stolen).

Are you talking about the Down Arrow key? To my knowledge there is no way to use that key as a shortcut for anything. But look in the Keyboard section of System Preferences and the Keyboard shortcut tab.

You cannot selectively lock the address book app. If all contacts are sync'd online you can delete the account. However, the all around better approach would be to backup the device and do a security wipe before loaning it.
