In Yosemite, I try to import mail from Apple Mail 8.0 into Thunderbird 31.20.0, but it says "No mailboxes found"--what should I do? I've tried all sort of other approaches, but none works. I'd appreciate any help. Thanks! Ken
Try copying the whold SD card to your desktop by holding down the Option key and dragging the SD card icon about 2 inches away from the where the card sits on the desktop. This should trigger Mac OS to make a copy of the whole SD card onto your Macintosh's desktop. Once it finishes from there, eject the SD card. Reboot your Mac then open iMovie without launching any other programs whatsoever. Go to the File Menu Import Movies from File... And point it at the copy of the SD card and see if it crashes again.

Import email from apple mail not working
I have a simple applescript which imports emails from Apple Mail into filemaker
tell application "Mail"
set theSelection to selection
set theMessage to item 1 of theSelection
content of theMessage
set the clipboard to content of theMessage as text
end tell
This works in the Old Apple Mail in 10.6 but Lion changes everything doesnt it. This is not working in the new Mail 5.1. It will import the first message in the string but not the HIGHLIGHTED message which may be in the message string of 3 or 4. I want it to set theMessage contents of the highlighted message. Does anyone know how to select the highlighted message in a string - sometimes called the selected message. ThanksUse and methodically follow the troubleshooting steps in Apple's OS X Mail: Troubleshooting sending and receiving email messages located at http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3276

How do we transfer contacts and mails from apple mail and address book to Microsoft outlook on my mac
From Contacts, anyway (the new version of Address Book) you can export to a .abbu file and import then into Outlook. I'm not sure about Mail as I only really use Outlook...

Convert mails from apple mail to outlook for mac 2011
Hello,
need to convert mails from apple mail to outlook for mac 2011. have gone through Imap procedure and am tired of transferring mails manually coz there are thousands of'em. can anyone suggest any simple solution to this problem?
thanks.Create a IMAP account (GMAIL icloud etc.)
add account to Apple mail and Outlook 2011
Drag emails into a folder on the imap server and then go back to Outlook 2011 and drag the emails from the imap into your email. and your done all your emails
are there.
There are third party tools available now-a-days for this kind of problems and they are pretty useful. You have just to select the files from the apple mail
that you want to convert and your mails are transferred within no time.

Suddenly can not access .mac mail from Apple Mail
Suddenly, I can not access .mac mail from Apple Mail (Version 2.1.1 (752.3)).
For quite a few years I have been using Apple Mail to access my .mac email. As of last Friday, Mail stopped working. Nothing has changed (accept for the installation of the latest OS X security upgrade - SecUpd2006-008Univ.pkg).
I can still access my .mac mail through the .mac web browser and I can still access it through SnapperMail on my Palm Treo 680. But, when I open Apple Mail on my MacBook, it does not do anything, just sits there. When I open the Activity Viewer window, 3 activities are going on:
1. Opening Mailbox
2. Synchronizing with Server (Connecting to...)
3. Synchronizing with Server (Synchronizing with...)
After a few minutes, the error triangle appears next to the Inbox and .Mac logos on the left hand panel.
I have tried Apple Mail from several locations (different ISP / WiFi / LAN) over several days but get the same problem.
Does anyone have ideas for a solution?
Regards
PeterLet’s first make sure that the update is installed properly, and post back with your observations when done.
Verify/repair the startup disk (not just permissions), as described here:
The Repair functions of Disk Utility: what's it all about?
After having fixed all filesystem issues, if any, reinstall the update that appears to not have been installed properly. You may also need to reinstall the Combo Update for the type of computer and the version of Mac OS X you’re using, unless this is the version of Mac OS X that came with your computer:
About the Mac OS X 10.4.8 Combo Update
Mac OS X 10.4.8 Combo Update for PPC
Mac OS X 10.4.8 Combo Update for Intel
Take a look at the following articles for guidelines on how to properly install system updates:
Troubleshooting installation and software updates
Installing software updates
Basically, you should verify/repair the startup disk before installing the update, no applications should be running while installing it, and you may experience unexpected results if you have third-party system software modifications (not normal applications) installed. -
Import Mail from Apple Mail to Entourage Failed
HI all: Got frustrated with Apple Mail due to addressbook and Ical. Just don't like the format. So did file-import from apple mail- and nothing came over. How else should I be doing this?
Ok this is filed under Thunderbird, so I will assume your references to Firefox are in error.
You appear to have added your account as POP. Try adding it as IMAP.
File menu (Alt+F) >new>existing mail account
now delete the old pop mail account, once everything arrives from the server.
Tools menu ALT+T) > account settings and use the account actions button at the bottom of the list. -
How to import contacts from apple mail
I am using apple 10.6.2
How do I import my contacts from Apple mail?
I can export a csv file but verizon does not seem to like it.Same response I gave to your prvious posting.
There are many V Card converter programs. This is one of them. I have not used or tested it. Do search on the web for .vcf to .csv.

My font sizes change when I send e-mails from Apple Mail.
My font sizes change when I send e-mails in Apple Mail. Sometimes the font style changes, too.
This is unacceptable, as I use my e-mail for business applications.
Any suggestions for a fix?
Thank you. Before you do that I must warn you that also with PC is the same.
It's not the hardware nor the software that makes the difference, because e-mail must obey to certain rules that is RFC.
Maybe what you are looking for is a message that looks like a web page.
You can find something of that kind here.
http://www.jumsoft.com/stationery/
But again, the recipient e-mail could have little differences from the original that depend on many variables
If you are curious enough to know a little more about electronic mail you can read this page

P.S.
IMHO you already have the best in Hardware and software. It would be a pity to give away that gem -

Can I recover E-mails from Apple Mail when the E-mail account is closed
My company E-mail account was closed today and I had anticipated the messages would be stored by Apple mail for offline viewing. It was an IMAP account with the preferences set to so that the mail was never deleted and all messages were to be kept.
However, all the mail has disappeared with no action from me. Is there anything I can do to recover this information?
I did not "back up" these messages as I thought they would be left in the mail program for viewing and that I could later archive them.
Thanks in advanceNo idea what happened, then. I suppose it's possible that they deleted all your messages before removing the account, and that Mail synced the change before getting cut off. Why they would do that, since just removing the account would also delete all the messages, without the need for an extra step, I don't know. Perhaps they wanted to try to ensure that you didn't have copies of those messages for some reason?
In any case, if you have a recent backup, you ought to be able to restore those messages to a local mailbox. If you use Time Machine, you can choose Enter Time Machine from the Time Machine menu while in Mail, and it'll allow you to navigate through all the stored backups of your messages and restore them. -
Problems deleting mail from apple mail under mountain lion
I'm a little baffled by the way that the DELETE function works on Mail in Mountain Lion. When I delete a mail from "All Inboxes" it appears to remain in the individual inbox. I have GMAIL and Mac.com mail being gathered into apple mail. I should note that I have GMAIL pulling apple mail into GMAIL, but it's supposed to delete it from Mac.com once the mail is pulled into GMAIL.
Any ideas?I am suddenly having the same issue in mac mail. Giving me an error message "email name cannot be moved to the mailbox null" "Destination mailbox null does not allow messages to be moved to it" I have no idea what mailbox "null" is. This just started happening a day ago... Any suggestions?

I have been a PC for years so I am not sure what to do here and there is no tutorial that makes any sense on google.
Someone please help me before I burst into flames!
This is a work account and not being able to send emails doesnt help me.

HELP! Can't import archived mail from Apple Mail
I just moved up to a VERY nice MacPro. I archived mail on my G5. When I go to import it into Mail on my VNMP, it refuses to import. No real explanation, just says it couldn't import. Huh? Does anyone have any idea why this is happening? Thanks
Hi Ann,
I know Flip4Mac has updated the plugin, but it still
could be causing you the problem.
Navigate to HD/Library/Quicktime
Drag the Flip4Mac component to the desktop and
restart the Mac.
See if that makes any difference.
That was the problem. I can import video into iMovie from iPhoto again. So...now the Flip4Mac components are sitting on my desktop. Do I uninstall Flip4Mac? Or is there another option for using it without messing up my iMovie software?
Thanks for the help!
