Inability to access itunes

So I downloaded and installed itunes because I recently bought an ipod shuffle. When I double click the itunes file I get an error that states" iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience " kind of error. I sent an error report but I didnt get a response. It would be a great help if someone could help me with my error.

I have the same problem -- been trying for months to get iTunes 7 to work on my PC -- no success. I recommend you approach the problem as follows:
1. Go to the forum called "Using iTunes with Windows". Because your problem is with iTunes, you are technically in the wrong place.
2. Try the various solutions that you find there. Lots of people with iTunes 7 problems, but also lots of talented problem solvers and a lot of possible solutions for you.
3. If you hit a dead-end and simply cannot get iTunes 7 to run on your PC, there is a workaround. Someone wrote a little program that lets you use Windows Explorer to copy music files directly to your Shuffle. I got a Shuffle for Christmas and it solved my problems. Check out the link below link for more info. and to download if you choose.

Let me know how you fare.

I got "secure link to itunes store failed" during a diagnostic test. unable to access itunes store and nothing i do works.

    Close your iTunes,
    Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
    (Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
    netsh winsock reset
    Hit "ENTER" key
    Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

  • Error accessing iTunes Plus section on the iTunes Store

It's been a week now that I'm getting the following message whenever I try to access the iTunes plus section of the store:
"Cannot complete iTunes Store request. It could be busy. Check your Internet connection or try later"
Actually the message is in italian and this is my translation.
I upgraded my library to the DRM-less version the day iTunes 7.2 was released.
    Mac mini G4   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

Not actually the plus section, but similar strange inability to access the store. From the central US.
Received a promo email Sunday to "Complete.." my albums.
Followed the link in the email, which opened itunes and displayed albums corresponding to songs purchased individually.
Selected my favorite of these albums to purchase.
Go all the way thru clicking everything to get it purchased.
"Purchase of this item is not currently available. This item is being modified. Please try again later.[?]"
Have tried this daily for 3 days now, always with the same message. Offer expires June 26th.
Is this a "Complete My Album" promo or a "Complete Waste of My Time?"
Disappointing. It shouldn't be this difficult to buy music, especially when responding directly to an Apple Itunes promo email that appears to be legitimate.

  • After rebooting my Windows Vista 64 bit system, could not access iTunes; after uninstalling I tried reinstalling, but it has been running for more than 24 hrs. Should I cancel installation?

I had been updating my Windows Vista 64 bit system and as a result of a problem, had to reboot my system. Afterwards, I was no longer able to access iTunes.  I got a message stating that there was a problem with some of the files associated with the application.  A phone rep at Apple's Customer Service provided me with emails linking instructions on completely uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes. I did the uninstall, then checked for lingering iTunes files and couldn't completely remove some, but tried intalling the latest version of iTunes. It has been running for roughly 24 hours.  The status bar is green all the way across, and when I try to cancel, I get the following message: "Are you sure you want to cancel iTunes installation?"  I keep hitting "no," but am staring to wonder if there is a problem with the install.  Should it take this long if I have roughly 134 gigs of music?  I can still see the music in my computer's C drive, so I am worried that there is an error, perhpas because I didn't clear out all the lingering C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\ and all the lingering C:\Program Files\iTunes\.  Any thoughts?

It is not just the HP. I have 3 HP computes and 2 Dell computers. 2 of the HP and 1 Dell suffer the iTunes internet block. Took me a while to figure it out also. But, the one thing that is different on the Dell, is that I can leave iTunes installed and not open it and everything works. As soon as I open it, internet access goes down. BUT secure sites (https:) works fine.

Look on one of your bank statements and be sure to enter the billing address exactly as it shows on the statement. Some folks forget where they actually get the statement. They put their home address in iTunes/Mac App Store and they actually get the statement at their place of employment or vice versa.

Why would there be a fix?  YOU are having the problem.  I'm not, no one I know is having the problem.  No fix is needed.
Basic troubleshooting steps clearly outlined in the User Guide are restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new.  Have you been through any, if not all of these troubleshooting steps yet?

  • "Accessing iTunes Store" box pops up every time I click on something new on itunes

When I open itunes it automatically tries to connect to the itunes store but the "connecting to itunes store" status bar keeps popping up even after it has connected.  I'm unable to navigate the itunes store without this status bar popping up.  I've updated to the latest version of itunes (currently version 10.3.1 for mac)  and the same problem occurs.
I haven't had any luck with the itunes store after uninstalling and reinstalling the software.  I've also tried to "deauthorize this computer" and then "authorize this computer" to try and fix the glitch- but everytime I try and sign into my account I get this message: "This Apple ID has not yet been used with the iTunes Store".  It then takes me to another screen to review my account.  But when I'm brought to the new screen my session times out and I can't review anything.
I'm going around and around in circles and it's becoming very frustrating.  Does anyone have any other possible solutions???
I'll give a step by step breakdown of what's happening..
    I open the itunes store.
Accessing itunes progress bar at the top of the window loads the itunes
store and after it loads there is still a top window that says
'accesing itunes store' with a 'stop' button option which stays open
for aprox. 1 minute after page is loaded.
I sign in with my account and password.
A dialouge box appears that says, "This Apple ID has not yet been used
with the itunes store.  Please review your account information.
    cancel or review option boxes.
    I click review.
Accessing itunes store progress bar appears in the upper part of the
window as well as in a seperate window box like before and this box
stays open after page has loaded like before.
The window box goes away and the window says, "Welcome to the itunes
store; To begin creating your apple id click continue".
    I click continue.
A new window appears and says, "your session has timed out. Try
again".  option to click a box marked 'done'.
...And this takes me back to square one.

Did you ever resolve the question?

  • Itunes will not open after uninstall and re-download, I only get a message itunes match accessing itunes store which goes on for a long time

I could not open I-tunes.  I had used it a week before but it was spotty and then eventually it would not open at all.   I uninstalled it then downloaded it.  I restarted the computer.  When I tried to open itunes, I got a message "ITunes match. Accessing iTunes store" and it does not go beyond that.  I've tried this process twice.  I had my Norton support service do a tuneup and they downloaded iTunes but it will still not work. help!

  • After successful installation of iTunes 10.6.1, iTunes will not open.  Tried complete uninstall and reinstall, still not working.  Cannot sync iPad or access iTunes at all.  Any suggestions?

After successfully installing the iTunes upgrade to 10.6.1, Now I cannot open and access itunes.  I have tried a complete uninstall and reinstall and it is still not working. I have looked through many support communities for answers.  I added an iPad 2 almost a year ago and all was fine until my upgrade to the "cloud services" and upgrade to new version.  I have been without iTunes on my PC for a month.  Any suggestions on how to resolve this issue?

I too have only recently encountered this problem. I have been able to burn disks before but it keeps making all these weird sounds. It might be a hardware problem but the fact that everything else that uses a disk works I doubt it.

  • I have a Windows 7 Computer.  When I go into itunes store, it comes up, and I can navigate in it, but a box keeps appearing saying accessing itunes store.  I then get a session timed out, so can't purchase anything.

I own a Windows 7 computer.  I can get into itunes okay, and I can get into the itunes store okay.  After I am in the store, a box keeps appearing that says "Accessing itunes store".  It goes on and off.  I am able to navigate when the box is not showing.  If I try to download music,  I get to the point where I need to agree to the agreement contract, then says "Session Timed Out."  I have the latest versions of itunes and all my Windows Updates.  What can I do about this?

I was struggling with this since my latest Itunes update.  Fiirst it would not recognize my IPad as a device, after correcting that, it would list the Ipad in my device but my Sync had no options (summry, info, etc). and it kept saying it was "Accessing Itunes store".  reading your question I suddently tried deleting the itunes task (alt-ctrl, delete, processes) and delete Itunes.  (By the way, I had rebooted my computer several times over the last few days).  I opened up Itunes, and voila. Device is there. No "accessing windows" and my sync has the normal options.

After upgrading to 11.0.5.5 can't access iTunes store. Temprorarily unavailable all the time. Nothing helps, tried to flash the DNS. Nothing.....

Same issue.  I emailed apple and they had me call apple.  Not really any help.  Did all the troubleshooting listed and to have further help diagnosing problems it isn't free.  I explained to the rep that I have seen others having same issues - he didn't know anything about.  This is first time I have had problems.  I can't even purchase song on my PC but can on my iphone.  I just would like to be able to access my account.  Afraid to sign out of itunes in case I can't even get to my library etc.

I'm not sure what you mean, precisely - I opened settings, then I opened "itunes store", then opened "app store", but not sure how to log out, and back in on the phone?  I closed them all down again, but still no radio icon, and when I'm in the store and tap the prompt "go to itunes radio" it just brings me to my albums list on the phone.  Strange.
Does this make sense?  I mean, am I explaining things clearly?
I appreciate the help, this is a pain in the arse.

There is no such account. The iPod is really a one-user device
