Inability to edit document after conversion to Word

I am using AdobeExportPDF for the first time.  I just converted a three-page PDF document to Word.  In the new Word document, all of the words have run together.  I tried to separate them manually, but half the time am not able to do that -- hitting the "enter" key has no effect.   Can anyone tell me if there is a fix for this problem?

Try choosing Edit > Select All, then change the font used in the document to something else.  I've seen this happen from time to time with documents that didn't have the fonts correctly embedded (or subsetted) within the PDF you started from.

After conversion you will be prompted to download the converted file.  We do not store converted files on our servers with the ExportPDF system.

  • Unable to edit documents after AVG installation

I have a dual drive Toshiba laptop, which has been recntly updated from Vista to Windows 7. Windows 7 has taken up most of my C drive, so I have had to put programs onto the other data E drive. The other day I bought AVG ant-virus 2011 and put it onto my computer (data e drive). Since then, even after taking avg off, I am unable to edit documents on office Word or OpenOffice. it seems to be doing it to my external drive (that I have added) as well as now. Its strange since this only started as soon as i used AVG. Any suggestions what the problem could be? How it can be resolved.
I really need some help, as my computer seems to be slowly dying! Tried to get in contact with AVG but they seem just to be ignoring the problem at the moment.
    Thanks for any help,

    Hi buddy,
    > Its strange since this only started as soon as i used AVG.
In this case I would contact AVG directly if they can say something about this or if its a known issue. I never heard about this but AVG should know what to do now.
I dont know what notebook you have but Im pretty sure its a software issue and it seems to be related to AVG

  • How do you keep embedded documents during conversion from Word 2007 to PDF?

Windows 7, with all available patches.
Word 2007, with all available patches.
    Acrobat reader 9.3.2
I have additional documents, spreadsheets etc embedded into a Microsoft Office Word document. When this document is converted to the PDF (using the Word PDF add-in interface) the embedded objects can no longer be opened and only appear as images.
Is there a way to retain the embedded document during the conversion so that they can be opened from within the resulting PDF?
    Thanks in advance!

Thanks very much for your repsonse, it's much appreciated
I don't have Acrobat X installed at this time so am not able to create or edit PDFs (other than from Word).  I understand that creating a PDF from Word may not be an Acobat issue per se, but thought that someone on this forum may have experienced a similar problem, hence thought I'd try my luck here
I will do as you suggest and try an MS forum
    Thanks again

  • Editing documents after they are signed

I would like for users to still be able to edit a document after it has been signed. I know that this is an uncommon request but I have a specific need for this functionality. It seems that protection is automatically added to documents when they are signed and then they are not editable.

Hello and thank you for your reply.  When I export, this is what I have used:
    File Settings:
    Image Format:  JPEG
    Color Space:  sRGB
    Quality : 80-100
I have not checked the box for "output sharpening", although I did minor sharpening as part of my edit process in LR.
For Image Sizing, I have not changed anything. This is what is currently selected:  "resize to fit" box is checked and "long edge" is selected, 500 pixels.  Resolution 72 pixels per inch. The "don't enlarge" button is NOT checked.
I'm hoping this is where my issue resides!!
    Thank you!

  • Cannot save or open document after conversion

i cannot open or save the document after converstion.  the question box "Save" or "open" appears and i choose a location for it to be saved in but it is not ther after saving; nor can i open the document in Word

Check your keyboard?  Maybe the return key is stuck every so often?  Just a wild guess because you said the dialog goes away as soon as it comes up.
This is actually a good suggestion.  I had a strange case where I couldn't right click any objects.  I tried right clicking on a front panel control to get to its properties but the tools palette came up.  I then left click and multiple objects were selected.  Turns out my keyboard went into some crazy mode where the shift key needed to be pressed once to enable and pressed again to disable, instead of being held.  I unplugged the keyboard and plugged it back in and it went back to normal.  If the enter key is being held down with software or hardware, strange things could happen.

  • Help using documents after conversion.....

How do you alter a document once converted from pdf to docx?

Simply open the .docx file in Microsoft Word or any other word-processing program that reads/writes .docx files.

  • How to fill a form after conversion to word

I just converted a tax prep form to word but can't type Xs in the answer boxes; they go all over the place. What are the ]]]]]]]]] between the question and the answer box?

Converting forms is an absolute non-starter. The layout will change and official forms will be rejected or worse (working with converted government forms may breach rules & regulations). Work only in PDF.

Why after conversion & saving in my file word doc is garbled?

    Hi mackibee,
How was the PDF created? If it was created by a third-party application (that is, anything other than an Adobe application), then the file may not have the information necessary to ensure a clean conversion. Please see: Will Adobe ExportPDF convert both text and form... | Adobe Community.
You may have better luck if you disable OCR, as this document describes: How to disable Optical Character Recognition (O... | Adobe Community. But that option isn't preferable if the PDF started out as a scanned document, as OCR is necessary to convert image text to editable text.

  • Office 2013 - Word cannot establish a connection with this document after the system resumed from suspend mode

    Hiya!
This issue has been answered numerous times for Office 2010 and Office 2007, but I have yet to any solutions or Hotfixes that work for Office 2013 (x64) on Win7.
    How to replicate the issue:
Open a file from a network share.
    Edit file.
Leave computer on with file open. Computer goes to sleep or into stand-by mode.
    Wait a bit
    Wake up computer
CPU opens file in Read-Only mode and gives you the following error "Word cannot establish a network connection with this document after the system resumed from suspend mode. Save the document into a different file to keep any changes."
    What I've tried:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2434898 - Office 2007 registry fixes. Does not apply.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2413659 - Office 2010 problem. This exact issue. Says 'No microsoft products that match this hotfix are installed'
    Work Around:
I can saving new versions of these files overrides this issue, but this is sometimes not possible for end-users who only have specific access to ONE SPECIFIC FILE in a particular network share.
Please let me know how I can alleviate this issue!
    Thanks

    Hi,
Are those problematic documents created via previous versions of Office?
Please also try to run a repair of your Office 2013 installtion and check if it helps. See:

  • Can't create hyperlinks after converting a Word document with Acrobat XI Pro

    Hello,
    Here's my problem.
I'm making a catalog document for my company.
The document that I'm converting to PDF is made on Office Word 2013 and it's a .docx format file.
I'm on Windows 8 and the latest version of Adobe Acrobat XI Pro installed.
Inside my word document I have some pictures that have a hyperlink. Those hyperlinks directionate to a bookmark inside the word document. Inside the word document, if I do Ctrl+Click over the image, it will go to the page that has that bookmark. And it works. Period.
Beside that I also have some Cross-references on the word document. Those cross-references basically are the page number from the bookmark reference. By accident on most of those cross-refrences I left enabled the "Insert as hyperlink" on the cross-reference box options. When I Ctrl+Click over those cross-references I also go into the page of that cross-reference.
After I convert the word document into pdf, I can't get any hyperlink on the pictures, if I simply click on them, like if I click on a hyperlink on a webpage or something similar, the pdf won't go the the bookmark on the page that I've set on the word document.
The funny thing is that if I click on the other cross-references I can go to the page were that cross-reference is...
I tried all the methods to convert the file in order to obtain hyperlinks on the images...
I tried to use the Acrobat tab and the File -> Save as Adobe PDF, as both uses Acrobat PDFMaker, but nothing works.
Even tried all options on Acrobat PDFMaker but can't get it. "Create bookmarks", "Add links", "Convert Word Bookmarks", "...Word Styles to Bookmarks", "...Word Headings to Bookmarks", none works....
If I try to simply print from inside Word by choosing the Adobe PDF printer (like if I choose a regular printer), in the printers options it doesn't show up any hyperlink/link/bookmark option related, so that way is definitely a no go...
To reference, on 2006/2007 I also worked on a similar project and used this method on the word document (on Word 2003). At that time I had another Adobe Acrobat version, can't remember what version was...
This hyperlink situation was without any problem. After conversion, on the pdf file, if I click on a image it went to the right place inside that pdf file...
So I'm simply lost wether it's a problem of me, a problem of Word, a problem from Acrobat... simply lost...
    I'm desperated....please, someone help me!!!

Ok, sorry for never talk since the last time, but I finally discovered why I had this problem.
I found out that M$ decided somehow to change the process of embedded hyperlinks on a image, but in a docx it doesn't get affected. Only after transforming it into a pdf by Acrobat that the problem emerges...
    I found this site http://www.pb-solv.net/2013/08/embed-pictures-in-microsoft-word.html
Basically all I have to do is "Use Insert, Quick Parts, Field, IncludePicture. This inserts the picture in the old way as a field. You can use Alt-F9 to reveal the field codes and change the images to be embedded rather than linked."
Then, after converting it with acrobat, the pdf finally have hyperlinks on the images!!!
They change this on Word 2007. As I had the 2003, at the time, I didn't had this problem.
As I said, M$ changed something, but only is affected after converting with acrobat. So, acrobat also missed something in the process. I call it a 50/50 guilt.
To bad no one ever notice this problem...

  • Edit document that was converted from PDF to Word Doc.

How do I edit a document that I converted from a PDF to a word document????? When I open my now "Word Document" it does not allow me to edit the text.

Bill, The PDF came from a scanning of a Word document, but my office did not produce the PDF and I don't know exactly how the original Word document was scanned, whether OCR was engaged at that stage, etc., but the select tool in Adobe Reader leads to the cross-hairs on the PDF. We are working without AA, and I was trying to convert the PDF back to an editable Word document through ExportPDF, with which I thought I had had some success in the past in similar circumstances (converting an image PDF back to an editable Word document). With this document, the conversion back to Word through ExportPDF has led to an uneditable Word document with text in image frames whether OCR is on or off in the PDF to Word conversion effort... and if there is a way to remove the frames in Word, but keep the text, I haven't "re"figured it out yet. For instance, triple clicking doesn't seem to do anything.
On this particular document, we've gone back to the old fashioned way of retyping the page that has the error in it ... and sticking it back in the document. (It also would have been smarter timewise for me in this case to have spent more time on tracking down the preceding Word document.)
Was I missing something in the conversion process from scanned image PDF to Word document with edit capabilities? Thanks!
    Dave
