Inability to enter sim pin after 5.1 update on z3

After receiving the lollipop update 5.1 my z3 ( sim protection on) no longer gives me the opportunity to enter my pin number on power up and going to the security menu sim lock section doesn't work either because the sim is locked and an overlay covers the menu.
Thus no network no data no phone. Help!!!!!!

  • IPhone 4s blocks after entering SIM PIN

Since today, my nearly brandnew  iPhone 4s blocks after entering the SIM PIN. Yesterday evening it lost the connect to the telephone net and kept on searching for a net. Trying first a restart - and as this did not solve the problem - a hard reset, it now locks up when trying to enter the SIM PIN.  It shows "Please wait ..." at the screen and then blocks.
I tried already restart, hard reset, taking the SIM card out and putting it back again, disabling 3G and Mobile Data. Nothing helped.
If I do not try to unlock the SIM card then I can proceed (but not use the iPhone as telephone).
Any idea what I could try else?
    Many thanks for any support,
       Peter

Thank you for the advice. I do not have a SIM without PIN at hand. I will try this after at next opportunity.

  • Lumia 720 powers off, requires SIM pin after Amber

Hi. I notice that my 720 would randomly power off after the Amber update. It would happen when phone is not in use, I would turn it on but would have to enter the SIM pin for it to function. 3rd time its happened today, within 6 hours.

    hi mate
have you checked that you are up to date with all the latest Nokia system app updates? also try performing a soft reset to see if that helps.

  • How to enter SIM PIN on a wiped IPad when you know the PIN?

My daughter somehow changed her PIN on her IPad this morning but has no idea what it is!  I tried to restore to factory settings, but it would not let me do this unless I turned off find my IPhone which I could not do because we do not know the password. I went to find my IPhone and tried to delete the device, but it would not do this since it was online.  I decided to wipe the IPad so I could then restore it.  That worked, but now the SIM is locked! I know the password to the SIM, but it just tells me SIM PIN locked please enter your PIN to unlock the SIM card.  My problem is that the box does not show up to enter PIN. There is nowhere for me to enter it! I tried logging onto itunes to do it there, but tells me the same thing with no place to enter PIN.  I am panicking because one of her Santa gifts for tomorrow is a digital makepver that you use with the IPad!!! Please help!

I use two ways - not very sophisticated
On my pop account, I set the preferences to delete mail on server immediately after download
On BlackBerry, I delete the mail account when I am near the computer and re-enter when I want mail

  • Unable to enter recovery mode after EMMA TA update flash

Hi, I instaled to a sony xperia Z ultra the TA upadate using EMMA tool.  The bootloader is unlocked and no error after the flash. After all procedure, I can't enter in recovery mode. Anyone have this issue?

    Hi Lusorg
    Sorry for replying late.
Now that is really strange and I belive the fault lies within the EMMA.
How about trying it now again or after few days so that things get fixed ?
Try to flash the Generic firmware once again, first see if it still shows kitkat for you. It should be rather lollipop.
Also few things to take care of. Turn off antivirus and firewall on your computer before you begin flashing because these softwares really mess up with EMMA / PC Companion etc
EDIT : One more thing I'd like to add is make sure you're following the correct way to enter recovery.

  • Invalid SIM card after trying to update iPhone 4 software to iPhone 4S software

When I have tried to download the new iPhone 4S software my phone has said, "Only compatible SIM cards from a supported carrier may be used to activate iPhone. Please insert the SIM card that came with your iPhone or visit a supported carrier's store to receive a replacement SIM card." This has happened to me two other times. I have never taken out my SIM cards, and have always followed all the directions to update to the new iPhone software. The apple store has always been really confused when I have brought my iPhone in to solve the problem of having an "invalid SIM card" and has consequently figured out that my SIM card and iPhone have both been "fried" by trying to update to the new software and have subsequently given me a brand new iPhone each time. This is a very frustrating problem with apple, and takes too much time to correct every time. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Uninstatll iTunes.  Restart your computer.  Reinstall iTunes.

  • Why isn't SIM PIN code respected after reset?

I have a PIN code set for my SIM card, and I just noticed this: if I shut down and then reboot my iPhone, I'm asked for the PIN code before I gain control. However, if I reset the iPhone (by holding the mute and home buttons down until the phone shuts down) and then reboot it, my phone reboots without requesting a PIN code.
    Anyone else?

    Hi odysseus,
The iPhone should not ask you for a SIM pin after being reset.
+"If you've already entered the SIM PIN since powering on iPhone, and you reset iPhone or toggle Airplane mode, the SIM PIN is not required."+

  • IPhone 3G no longer asks for SIM pin since 2.2

Since I updated to 2.2 my iPhone no longer asks for my SIM pin after a restart.
If I reset the pin it works as it should for a while but if I reset the iPhone the problem reoccurs.
I did a restore but the problem persists. Any ideas?

I came on here because this morning I just noticed the same thing:
    iPhone 3G 16GB
    iPhone OS 2.2
I have the SIM preference set to a custom password (not the default) which should be requested on restart/reboot.
If I normally shut down the iPhone 3G (by holding the lock button and swipe) and restart, I have to enter the SIM unlock code.
However if I force a reboot (reset) by holding the home and lock buttons, upon startup, either immediately, or later, then the SIM opens unlocked, and no code is requested.
I also have an iPhone 1G 8GB with iPhone OS 2.2 and this does not happen on that phone. The SIM passcode is always requested and needed regardless of restart/reboot/reset method.

Typically this indicates a device that has been hacked to be unlocked or jailbroken.
If that is the case, no support can be provided here.

  • SIM PIN code 1020 WP8.1 re-enter

    Hello,
Ever since I've installed the latest update of WP8.1 (8.10.12397.895) Developers Preview on my Lumia 1020 the phone looses its connection with the GSM network (4G) and asks me to re-enter the SIM PIN code serveral times a day. I re-enter the code as soon as I discover this, but in the mean time the phone is not on the GSM network so I won't receive calls. As soon as the phone drops the network connection it briefly displays the Windows logo as if the phone was rebooted.
I hope this will be corrected in an next release, or beter in the final release that will come together with the Cyan update.
    L8r, Henk

I think my problem is solved. My attention was drawn to an article on the user forum of my provider. Someone with an Android phone was experiencing fairly similar problems.
When my provider started with 4G a year ago they used a specialised Access Point (AP) for 4G as their default AP was not suitable for 4G at that time. During one of the many updates since, the special AP disappeared from my 1020, but since my wife’s 920 did not have the update yet I recreated the 4G AP and copied the settings from her phone. Now it seems I’d better not done that. The guy with the Android phone found out that in the meantime my provider started supporting 4G in their default AP. And that the specialised 4G AP was nog longer supported and thus should not have been used anymore. The fact that the AP disappeared during an update should have warned me.
Anyway, a couple of days ago I selected the default AP and have not had any SIM PIN code issues since. Whereas with the old 4G AP I had to re-enter the code within 2 hours at max as soon as I came at work and my phone connected to my works Wi-Fi (under control of an MDM).

  • HT201529 I bought my iPhone from Verizon and having their service.  Does my iphone has a default SIM PIN?

I bought my iPhone from Verizon and having their service.  Does my iphone has a default SIM PIN?

The 4G LTE SIM card in your device contains information about your plan, device and more. You can set a SIM PIN so others won’t be able to access that information if your SIM card is removed from your device.
If you remove your SIM card and insert it another device (e.g., when you upgrade to a new device), you’ll be asked for the SIM card PIN. You can find your SIM card PIN in My Verizon if you’ve forgotten it. Or, if you’ve entered your SIM card PIN unsuccessfully 3 times, you’ll need the PIN Unblocking Key (PUK) to unlock your SIM card again. After using the PUK, you’ll need to create a new PIN for your SIM card if you want to secure it again.
To locate the SIM PIN / PUK numbers for your 4G LTE SIM card:
Navigate to the Overview page in My Verizon.
Click My PIN and Unblocking Key (PUK) under About My Device.
Your default PIN and PUK will be displayed in a pop-up window.
Click Close when you’re finished to return to the My Verizon Overview page.
You’ve successfully located your SIM PIN and PUK.

  • IPhone 4 runs without SIM card after installing iOS 7/7.1.1

After installing iOS 7 and all the latest update by using iTunes on my iPhone 4 I now have the problem that when starting the phone without a phone card I get the information that the SIM card is blocked and that you have to slide to unlock, the same information you usually receive when such a card is inside. Once unlocked the code screen appears asking for the PIN. The iPhone runs after having entered the PIN and you can open and work with all the apps which don't need an access to the internet like Calendar, Notes, Settings etc.. What has gone wrong? Can anybody help me please.

The SIM is only actually required during activation. And if you want a connection to a cellular carrier, of course. Once activated, the SIM can be removed and the device can be used as if it were an iPod Touch. This has always been this way.
I'm not entirely clear on what you think is wrong.

  • Sometimes no SIM PIN needed

Since updating to 2.2, my Gen 1 iPhone has an intermittent problem. After it has been off for any length of time, the next powerup will sometimes (but not always) skip asking for the SIM PIN.
The passcode is working properly every time, but the next step, entering the SIM unlock PIN, is skipped once in a while, somewhat compromising the security of the phone. In other words, without entering the PIN, the phone is fully functional, able to call, access EDGE data, etc.
I have tried toggling the SIM PIN feature off/on and cold rebooting, but the intermittent problem always comes back, eventually.
Has anyone seen this or dealt with it?
    -dan

Thanks. Here is how it is behaving:
    • first thing in the morning, turn it on from a "cold" start: sometimes it asks for a SIM PIN; sometimes it doesn't.
    • power it off during the day and power it back on again: sometimes it asks for a SIM PIN; sometimes it doesn't.
    • do a full reboot (hold Home and Power until Apple logo appears): sometimes it asks for a SIM PIN; sometimes it doesn't.
Prior to firmware 2.2 it always asked for a SIM PIN under these circumstances.
    • toggle Airplane mode off/on: does not ask for a SIM PIN (as long as one has already been entered).
