Inability to publish iWeb content using MobileMe

I'm in a serious time crunch to get my site updated on Tuesday. I've made lots of edits and revisions and saved frequently. When I attempt to publish in part or whole, it acts as if it is publishing successfully, but when I visit the site, it's the old version. I've cleared my cache several times now. I even tried Apple's suggestion to quit iWeb then find and delete some com.apple.iWeb.plist files. Guess what, I don't have those files in the location specified. I have other com.apple.... files but nothing for iWeb. I logged in to me.com to make sure everything is ok with my account - and it is. I don't know what else to try. Any help appreciated

Yes you do have the com.apple.iWeb.plist file. You are probably looking in the wrong place for them though. Rather than going to the System Library/Preferences you need to go to your Home User Library/Preferences instead and this is where the com.apple.iWeb.plist file is - the iWeb application and domain files are stored under Home user/Library/Application Support/iWeb and so the plist file is under the home user Library/Preferences.

Publishing iWeb site using MobileMe

I created a new website using iWeb, set up the CNAME alias, and published it using MobileMe. iWeb indicates the website has been published. When I go to the website, I get an error message:
Directory Listing Denied
This virtual directory does not allow contents to be listed.
Help!?

I followed the thread and performed the activities to test the site. I too was able to see the site. When I looked at the URL for the actual site, it still shows mac, not mobileme. Is this part of the problem?

I'm using Netfirms for the domain name, it was all fine until I used the "Masking" feature. When I selected the "On" radio button, I lost all my graphics and the navigation bar on my site. Now I'm not sure if I have to start from scratch, or if that would make a difference.

IWeb without using mobileme??

can i create a website and later get a domain name and publish the site i created in iWeb without using mobileme or anything like that?? sorry, new to all this and don't want to get going and realize i need a mobileme account

To add to Roddy's post - these are the features that will be lost by not hosting on MobileMe:
Features Unavailable When Publishing to a Non-Mac Server:

◼ Blog and photo comments
◼ Blog search
◼ Blog RSS Subscription
◼ Hit counter
◼ Enhanced slideshows
Most can be overcome on the 3rd party server except for the Enhanced slideshows. Don't ask me what that is because I've not been able to find out (I use MMe). You can use a good, strong 3rd party blogging service and embed your blog site in one of your site's pages: Embed a Site Within an iWeb Page. For password protection most commercial hosting services offer that feature, for either the whole site or individual pages.

Fail to publish iWeb content

Already been 2 days having troubles in publishing iWeb08 content (using Mac)though .Mac keeps saying the problems have been fixed.
But me always getting this message :
Publish Error : An error occurred while publishing file “......” or "rss"(or this and that). Try publishing again later.
So just wasting my time sitting and waiting and can't do nothing ~~~
Anyone has a clue ?

Iweb and using mobileme password protected photo gallery

I am trying to create a website. How can I access a password protected photo gallery by using MobileMe gallery widget in iweb. I need this capability. The unprotected galleries display using the MobileMe widget. Any suggestions?

How to get iWeb content from MobileMe

Hi,
I'm usually making web projects with Adobe programs, but my own (more or less blog) I did it with iWeb ... to try this tool.
Now I switched from iMac to MBP (yes, great present) and after a month I remembered this "iWeb project". Now when I start iWeb the only option is to choose a template, but I would like to connect to MobileMe account where I published my blog and work further on this ... is it possible somehow, or should I copy iWeb files from iMac to MBP?

What you will need is the domain.sites2 file that resides in your User/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder on the iMac. Copy it to the same folder on the MBP, replacing the one that's there now, and you will be good to go.
If you want to work on the site from both computers this MacWorld article may be of some help: Managing an iWeb site from multiple Macs.
If you don't have the domain file on the iMac or a backup copy of it you'll have to rebuild the site from scratch. If the site is a true blog you may lose the comments associated with it. Chapter 2.3 of the iWeb FAQ.org site has tips on using some of the published files in the reconstruction of the site.

Inability to publish iWeb with new software

I am unable to publish changes to iweb to my site. It is not going anywhere. My host is hostexcellence and they have tested all the connections and say that perhaps a lack of updates to the software has finally caused iweb to expire as a program (non-compatibility). I have been able to update in the past but have OSX 10.9.2 software now. Is this the problem? Any others out there having the same problem? Do I need to go to another software and redo an entire website? Ugh! Apple why did you do this to so many people?

Look, you have had at least 2 years to come to terms with the fact that iWeb is no longer sold or supported by Apple. It is nothing new and once MobileMe went away and was replaced by iCloud, which does not offer hosting in the same way that MobileMe did, then Apple had no reason to keep iWeb going and this is why iWeb has not been sold and is no longer supported by Apple. You have had 2 years to come to terms with this and find alternatives out there of which there are many.
As for HostExcellence, you have to remember that they are a web hosting company and have no idea what they are talking about when it comes to iWeb - the programme has not expired and still works perfectly well with Lion, Mountain Lion and Mavericks.
If the built in ftp does not work, then all you need do is publish your site to a local folder and then use a dedicated ftp programme such as Cyberduck, Transmit or Yummy ftp to upload your site folders and files to your server at HostExcellence. This works and I have used HostExcellence as a host in the past and I always uploaded my site like this with no problems at all.
As for re-building your site, it does not take long and there are plenty of alternatives out there for you to use, including RapidWeaver, Sandvox, Freeway Pro/Express 6, WebAcappella 4, Flux 4 and EverWeb at http://www.everwebapp.com. This is the most like iWeb that you will find. Another new one to look at and coming soon is something called Macaw at http://macaw.co. It might have a steeper learning curve and is quite expensive by all accounts.
Most of these you can download and try before you buy.

Publishing iweb Website using 123-reg.co.uk

I have a created a website using iWeb and wish to publish it to the internet. I have bought a domain as well as hosting space from 123-reg.co.uk, but am fairly clueless as to how to go about actually getting the website live.

Publishing iweb site using 123 reg hosting

I have uploaded the folder via ftp, but when I go to the website there is basically nothing there apart from a box.
Has anyone else had problems using a hosting service other than .mac??

I had exactly the same problem with http://www.forkliftagency.co.uk
For some reason 123-reg hosting does not like you uploading folders all in one go. I had to create the folder in the control panel, and then drop the files into each folder. Same for deleting; 123 will not let you delete a folder with contents.
You need to delete the contents first, and then delete the folder.!

Publishing iWeb by Mobile Me

I have trouble to publishing my iWeb by MobileMe, i got free domain from Dot Tk then i configuration CNAME between my host name and web.me.com by. after finally, i open new browser link to my hostname (www.zems.tk) then do you know what? the result page is forwarding to apple.com/mobileme interface.

SO, HOW TO CONFIGURATION iWeb to publishing by mobileme exactly?

All you need to do to publish to your MMe account is:
1 - log into MobileMe via the System/MobileMe Preference pane.
2 - set iWeb to use MobileMe as the publishing destination by clicking on the site's icon in the left hand pane of iWeb and select MMe from the drop down menu (upper right hand image in screenshot):

Guys, am new to iWeb. I'd like to test out the Microsoft Translator Widget (beta) to have my site translated into different languages.
Has anyone done this and can let me know how to do it please. Below is the microsoft URL.
I can generate the widget code, but I do not know how or where to place this into my iWeb website (using mobileme as the hosting location).

PUBLISH IWEB SITE CHANGES

After clearning my CACHE files to correct one problem now I have another. When I attempt to publish changes I get the following message
Publish Error
Can't create teh file "rich_berrett_photography/WELCOME.html." The diskk may be damaged or full, or you may not have sufficient access priveleges.
I AM STUCK.... HELP

Apple didn't include web storage on iCloud. There are other web hostings (Blogspot, GoDaddy, etc.)

IWeb won't let me publish using MobileMe

I am logged into the MobileMe account. I have 287 days left in my account. Two weeks ago when I made changes to my website, I clicked publish to update the website. All worked. Just made changes and when I pressed Publish, I get a MobileMe advertisement indicating I need to sign in or join. When I press status, it says I'm logged in. What do I do? thanks!

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Try the following:
1 - go to the System/MobileMe preference pane and log out of MMe.
2 - login with a bogus username and password like "test" and "test". This clears the caches.
3 - login with your correct username and password.
4 - launch iWeb and try again.

Publishing multiple iWeb accounts to mobileme

I wish to have multiple iWeb websites published through MobileMe. I know that I can go through Go Daddy to publish sites. But that can be clumsy and is not nearly as easy as going through MobileMe. Can you purchase a 'family deal' or 'package deal,' allowing multiple iWeb accounts through MobileMe?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. You can have as many sites published to a MMe account as there is room to house them. HOWEVER, only one site can be assigned to a domain name using the CNAME method. Any other domain names must use the URL forwarding to other sites in the same MMe account.
A family account will let you have one site using the CNAME method of domain name forwarding per account - 5 accounts. However, you still will have to purchase the domain name to use. With a single account you can have the 5 sites with domain names for about $50 less than a family account.
