Inactive InfoObject after Transport

We modified an InfoObject and transported the change; however, our BWQ system still does not recognize the InfoObject has active.  And the InfoObject is active in BWD. 
Our BWD system has the automatic transport connection active; then we went back and manually assigned it to a transport using RSA1 (Before and After) grouping mode.

Yes it should not require a deletion of data. But can you tell me what the error message is?? It might be that you have to transport just the object first without turning on nav. attr and then send nav.attr turned in the next transport.
Let me know if you resolved it, or if you are facing the same problem.

    I´ve transport a process chain into the quality system.
    The process chain chart does not appear on the right display screen and
    the chain is in grey in the menu so probably it is inactive.
    If I push the button Schedule I get next message:

    The process chain has no start-process. A process chain always requires

    Furthermore if I push the modify button it let me see the chain flow
    chart but if I try to schedule it or activate it the system ask for a
    transport request.
    As the system says there is no starter, if i enter in maintain start
    process i can see the variant so the variant has been tranported correctly.
    How can we do to get the process chain be active in the quality system?
    Why the system does not recognise the initial variant in the quality system?

    I´ve found the next messagge warning in the transport request:
    "Start of the after-import method RS_RSPC_AFTER_IMPORT for object type(s) RSPC
    Version 'M' of chain ZBCS_DAT_AUX was saved without checking
    No destination maintained in target client 400 -> Not activated"
    The messagge detail:
    "Message no. RSPC085
    Diagnosis
    When activating a process chain, this is checked and scheduled. Both the checking of a process chain and its scheduling require that
    1. the function is executed in the target client of the import and
    2. the user executing the function has the appropriate authorizations.
    This is usually the case for the BI background user
    The function can be executed in the target client if an RFC logon occurs in the target client. An RFC destination must be predefined for this purpose. This destination is used for logon to the target client from client 000 during import postprocessing.
    This destination does not exist in this system.
    System Response
    The process chain will not be activated, which means that it will not be checked, scheduled, or saved in an active version. The process chain will only be adjusted to the local situation (for example, key changes with objects that are dependent on the source system), and will not be saved in a modified version.
    Procedure
    Create a destination for the import postprocessing."
    Do I have to contact with the data basis department to solve this issue?

  • After transports, find many InfoObjects are inactive!

    After all transports are done.  Find inside any Transfer Rule, source system/datasource fields are blank (We have asked BASIS to do the source system name mapping settings already). I manually assign the source system/datasource and find many InfoObjects are marked with red tick "X", then I realize that these InfoObjects are inactive.
    You guys may know that BW InfoObject dependencies are very complicated.  Just wonder how you guys collect all these InfoObjects for transports.
    I find a way of massive activations of all InfoObjects manually, but in this way, the Change Request window pops up to prompt you to create change request and I don't the authorizations to create CR on PROD.
    Any idea?

    Hi Kevin,
    you can not activate the BI contents in the production server. The procedure is to activate them in Dev, move them to QA. Test them in QA and on successful testing, move them to production. This way, you need to create a CR in dev system and move it all the way to Production system.
    As you rightly mentioned, you need to maintain the dependencies while transporting the BW contents. I would suggest you follow the following steps.
    1. Transport the datasources.
    2. Replicate the data sources.
    3. TRs, CS, Info Objects, UR and then infoproviders.
    This way, you should not ahve any problem. Hope this helps.

  • Inactive InfoObjects in MultiProvider based on InfoSet after Upgrade NW04s

    We are upgrading our sandbox environment from BW 3.5 to NetWeaver 2004s or BI 7.0. We have done a technical upgrade and are currently using the obsolete authorizations. In testing we have discovered that our MultiProviders that are based on InfoSets contain inactive InfoObjects. Has anyone else had this problem. In running a query that uses this MultiProvider we get the message to activate our MultiProvider again.
    Is it necessary to activate all existing MultiProviders based on InfoSets after upgrading to NetWeaver 2004s?

    Hi Jeri,
    Yes this is sometimes required.
    Infosets are sometimes deactivated because additional checks are available after the upgrade or because new attributes become part of your info-object.
    When you change something to an underlying data provider of a multiprovider, the multiprovider is automatically inactivated and you have to reactivate it.
    I also had this problem with other upgrades.
    In general, activation is not too much of an effort.

  • Infospoke inactive after transport

    Experts,
    In version 3.5, I have created an infospoke with transformation and unit tested in Dev box. After transport I have got an error 8 while importing in QA. I checked all objects if anything missing or inactive in dev box related with this transport. But could not find anything.
    Looking into QA, I noticed infospoke was in revised version. Do you have any suggestions about what could be missing in transport? Or what should be the next possible steps to resolve the issue, please. Thanks.

    Hi Anil, I am having the same problem. My ABAP routine puts the correct selection variables, but the infospoke is getting into 'Revised' version. Can you please let me know, if you have a fix for this?

    HI,
    the main reason for most of the transports to fail is:
    1)Transporting each and every object in the same transport request.
    Ideally,
    u2022The Infobjects should be transported first in a separate request.
    u2022Then the Data source and the Info providers (Cube, ODS, Data source and Multiproviders) together in a separate request.
    u2022At the end the transformations and the DTPu2019s in an another separate request.
    If the above mention sequence is followed while transporting the transport failures can be avoided.
    2)Also when a change is made to an ODS (I object added or deleted) it should again be transported along with the transformation but in separate request.
    I.e. the ODS 1st and the transformation.

    I have started the transportation from BI dev to BI production and I am facing a problem all the objects are inactive in BI production while as those objects are active in BI dev.
    I cannot use infoobject activation program in production and niether I can do it manually.
    I will appreciate  your replies.
    Let me tell you this is fresh transport and only first unassigned infoobjects were transported.

    Any message after transport?
    Did you replicate your R/3 data sources first before transporting anything. I think you need to replicate r/3 datasources first and than try others. Replicate datasources going to your BW server RSA1->Source Systems and replicate.
    Here are the sequence I maintain for transporting but different people do differently. I find it very helpful transporting staffs piece by piece so that if there are any errors, I can solve the problem easily.
    BW  Transport Sequence:
    Info Object – Transport only infoobject.
    Info Area
    Info Catalog
    Cube & ODS –togather
    Multi-Provider/Multicube -
    Infoset
    Transfer /Update Rules
    Role and Authorization
    Report
    Workbook

    Hi Experts,
        I'm wondering in which situation I need to active object after transport?  In some cases, I have to active transformation, DTP, infoobject, multiprovider....  Does any one make a conclusion of that?

    Sometimes, because of impact of a transport some other objects will be deactivated, then we need to manuaaly activate the objects after transport.
    Also, sometimes transport after import process could not be able to activate the objects, then also we have to activate them manually.
    Or suppose, you have moved and infoobject, due to which some other objects become inactive (where ever infoobjects is being used), then we have to activate them manually, if you dont want to transport them.

    Hi,
    It seems objects are locked in transport request. Check the 'object directory entry' for the object and find out the transport request/task under which objects are locked. Remove the objects from TR or release the request and then try to activate.

    i have asset_attr datasource.it was working in my BW dev.
    however after transport to BW prod. when i try to upload data using DTP it gives me an Abrupt error

    no more information is given, & the request ends in red.
    This is first time i'm using this Infoobject upload.
    however all my other transaction data & other master data all are getting uploaded fine.
    even Asset_text datasource is working fine.
    Did anyone face similiar probs ?
    can anyone guide me on this error ?

  • Issues in Process chain after Transporting to Q

    Hi All
    I have couple of issues with my process chain (in Q). We have recently upgraded from BW3.5 to BI7.0. After upgrade i have a change made to one of my Process chain. i have transported it successfully to Q system. I have collected all the related objects associated with the change in the transport. But when try to see the changes changes in the process chain in Q system i have the following issues.
    1. i do not see my changes in display mode. But i am able to see all the changes if i go to change mode (this looks weird and i dont know why)
    2. i am unable to schdule the process chain in Q system as i was able to do earlier. Now it is asking for Transport when i try to schedule the process chain. this was not the case earlier.
    3. In the transport i also collected a newly created infopackage and added it to the Process chain. But i do not see any link between the infopackage and the process chain (it was supposed to have a link as it had in DEV), i mean when i go to  infopackage it used to give me a mesage saying the infopackage is already available in Process chain which i got in DEV.
    All the above cases were working per normal in DEV systems tested and were collected as required in the transports and moved to Q
    Please let me know ASAP if any of you have encountered similar problems before and have solutions. i saw couple of related threads (some suggested to directly activate the process chain in Q system by opening the Q systems as an alternate) but could not find a solution

    1. Display mode shows only the active version of Process chain. When you go into change mode, it displays the inactive version (if any available). Make sure you activate the process chain in the change mode. Then the chain you see in display and change mode will be in sync.
    2. When you try to schedule, the Process chain will be activated as well. If your Q system is prompting for transport then probably the system is open for changes. If you want to modify process chains in Q and P systems, make appropriate Object Changeability settings in Transport connection in Q and P systems and make sure the system is closed for changes (SCC4).
    3. Use Transport connection to collect the objects required for Process chain. After transport, check the transport log and make sure all the objects are imported successfully.

    to be more specific:
    If your cube has been working well, there's must be a cube (at least in development system or Q-System) with all the InfoObjects - you can transport this data model into the system, where the InfoObject is missing. Of course, on this way you can transport the missing Info Object as well.
    Normally there will be an inconsistent in the database caused of missing InfoObject. Adding a new field (missing InfoObject) means also, that you change the structure of the table. If you hold data of 1yr (which is large), it's better to save the data in a back-up table (via SQL-Script for example) and then delete all data in your data target before you do the transport. Then restore the data from the backup table. The problem is more, how you fill the new column (missing object). If it's a master data attribute - just reading from the correspodent master data table or convert from another Info Object. If it's a key figure it' more difficult and in this case you may have to reload the whole data from ECC.
    However to identify a cube as a table in SQL-Language is complicated. This interview question sounds simple, there may be a simple answer which is not coming to my mind at the moment. Maybe I haven't understand the question correctly. I'd be interrested on another suggestions!

  • Issue with migrated transformation rule after transport

    Hello all,
    We have migrated couple of update rules and transfer rules to transformation rules. All the transformation rules are active in development environment.
    The issue is when we transport these transformation rules to QA, one of the fields of datapacket dimension "RECORD" becomes &R1& in the global structure of start routine and therefore, transport fails in QA. Along with this we had another issue that if we add any additional fields in the cube or ODS structure, the global structure in start routine doesn't change after transport in QA. Basically, it seems like it doesn't do anything when we do transport.
    We tried couple of things by transporting entire flow inclding target and source objects, we also tried transporting only transformation with overwrite mode. But none of the things worked. We also have logged the message with SAP.
    SAP suggested us to open the QA environment and perform the change manually. We did it and obviously we could activate the transformation rules. But when we tried to re-transport the transformation, it is keep failing with the error "Syntax Error". My assumption has after the transport, the field has become &R1& again.
    Has anybody faced such issue? We are on Ehp1 SP7.

    Yes as I mentioned SAP suggested us to open the box and do it manually, but once we are done with the manual changes, we tried transporting the same transformation rule again, which I guess going to be the case in case of any future enhancement. Transport failed and it says "Syntax Error".
    The transformations we activated manually in the target system are active, but when we try to load the data, it throws the exception error.
    Any clue ?? Is it working fine in your system after you did manual changes? Did all future transport go well ?
