Inactive memory steadily increasing... but I am not even doing anything
These past two or three weeks, my Apple's memory has been getting occupied very quickly, causing my computer to run very slowly, and I have even received a "not enough memory" message. The thing is, I don't use it for any memory-intensive processes. I usually have my browser (Firefox), MS Word, and MS Excel open at the same time. (I would like to have iTunes on too, but I run out of memory!!). I tried Repairing my Disk Permissions because some website said I should -- it temporarily gave me a few hundred MB more of free memory, but did not seem to have a lasting impact. I noticed that Inactive memory was taking up the majority of my memory. My inactive memory creeps up by about 1 MB every 3 seconds, so by the time I finish this message, I may well run out of free memory, even though the only things I have open are Firefox and Activity Monitor. I also tried running the PURGE command in the terminal, but nothing changed. And of course I tried restarting, but to no avail.
Could it be that I recently installed calibre for my Kindle? Or what else might be going on? The situation seems to be worse every day. Also, I don't think there is any apple support office or store in the country I live in. I worry that soon my computer will run out of memory before I can even open any applications that might help me fix it!
I have MAC OSX 10.8.5, with a 2.6GHz Intel Core i5 processer, and 4 GB of memory.

I have tried to download Mavericks on my 2010 iMac(10.6.8), but nothing happens, not even the install app downloads, also I tried to download chrome, I moved it to the applications folder and when I opened the folder it wasn't there. Mavericks downloads into the Applications folder, where you can install it. Some Mac App Store Troubleshooting information and how to resume a download that was interrupted; some of the information here might get you an answer. Failing that, try contacting Apple Support.

Skype installed. Icon in Apps folder. Login ok... Skype logo, my name with "logout" next to it. Stopped right there. "check network connections". Skype guy said firewall must allow but firewall is not even turned on. Have Airport router.
How do I allow Skype to get past network?You make no mention of which OS you are using. The following are Yosemite instructions:
System Preferences>Security & Privacy>Firewall>Unlock the padlock.
Click on the Firewall Options button.
Click the + (plus) button & do the necessary to add Skyp & to allow incoming connections. When done, click the OK button & lock the padlock.
Restart your computer. Report back the results. -

I'll add that this can happen when snapshotting is used as a backup method. You can set max endpoints to 32 and still see the issue. Please ensure that you're backing up using the supported PowerShell commands: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh202170.aspx
and not just a snapshot of the VM. If raising max endpoints does not resolve the issue, try backing up with the management shell commands within a recurring scheduled task or try http://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/office/Backup-script-for-Lync-2013-aacbb9b9
. Then disable the snapshot ting for your front ends, bounce them one at a time, and ensure the data exports you've made are backed up as flat files.

Some more details will probably be required. The OS X version will help, as a start.
If you have the diagnostics DVD disk, boot that and see if there are any errors logged.
If this is OS X that's installed on a MacBook Air that you're using, then some of the usual triggers and approaches for resolving the still waiting for root device errors are discussed here. Have a look at that, and see if something in that sequence looks familiar, whether the PRAM reset or the safe boot helps or works here.
If there's any anti-malware, I/O accellerator, antivirus tools or similar installed, get rid of it. At least for testing.
There's a mention of "other OS" in your footer. If not OS X, what is the operating system in use here? If this is some other hardware or software involved, then the triggers for this error can vary. Widely. -

Solaris process memory usage increase but not forever
On Solaris 10 I have a multithreaded process with a strange behaviour. It manages complicated C++ structures (RWTVal or RWPtr). These structures are built from data stored in a database (using Pro*C). Each hour the process looks for new informacion in database, builds new structures on memory and it frees older data. But, each time it repeats this procedure, the process memory usage increases several MB (12/16MB). Process's memory usage starts from 100M until near 1,4G. Just to this point, it seems the process has memory leaks. But the strange behaviour is that after this point, the process stops to continue growing up anymore. When I try to look for memory leaks (using Purify tool) the process doesn't grow up and no significant leaks were showed. Did anyone found a similar behaviour or can explain what could be happening?

You can see by the example that I'm saving it to a text file, in csv format. So it needs to be a string array, a cluster won't be of much help I dont think.
The only other way I can think of is to break it up into more manageable chunks...maybe pull each column separately in a for loop and build up a 2D array like that until the spreadsheet storing.
You only do 1 query, but instead of Fetching All (as the Select does) you'll use the cursor to step through the data.
You can use Format to String or Write Spreadsheet fire with doubles.
You can break it down to get the data day by day instead of a full month at once.

I am supposed to be able to extract a frame from PSE 13 but it will not let me do so. Specifically, Select File > Import > Frame From Video is supposed to allow this but when I click Import, there is no Frame from video option.

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

Can't edit PDF, not even select anything
Hello community!
I got a PDF that is not write-protected, not passworded, not restricted in any way from what my Acrobat 9 tells me, nor it does not seems to be PDF/X, PDF/E or PDF/A.
But I can not edit anything or even select text or objects. The pages are normal A4 pages with text and images, nothing scanned, created in Indesign CS5.5 (from the document properties), but exported
with something called Ghostscript.
Any clue what switch I need to toggle to make this refusing POS bend to my will?

Does it definitely contain images? A photo is an image but a logo might be drawn shapes.
What happens if you use the Touch-Up Object Tool (not Select Object Tool), then Edit > Select all? -
iTunes yesterday got halfway through a sync (it did recognise it for a short time) but today, since the upgraded iTunes, it won't even recognise the phone. I have tried using iTunes' diagnostics and the device tests say that no iphone, ipod or ipad can be found. I have so many tunes on iTunes that I am worried i will lose.
My last iPhone was my first and was synced up fine with my laptop.

There is no tool bar in Foxfire--it doesn't matter if the page is maximized or not as indicated in one article. I changed the default browser in "preferences" on Safari, but it didn't REALLY change it.

I cannot get on line because it states it is already running. This has happened before and it tells me I should restart computer which works, but this weekend it has not worked and it keeps telling me it is still working. This is not the laptop that I am having trouble with that is why I can ask my question. The one with the problem is Windows XP. Now every time time I go to open the browser it looks like it is starting up and then nothing no matter how long you wait
Do a clean (re)install and delete the Firefox program folder (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\).
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
