Inactive MobileMe account, merge with iCloud

Hey,
I have my prefered id, used with an inactive MobileMe account.
I would like to use the same email address with my iCloud account.
I try the "www.me.com/move" but I can't use it to migrate, since my account isn't active.
Any possible solution??
Or my only choice is to create a new address??
thanks,
Alex

Inactive or expired MobileMe accounts
Inactive and expired MobileMe accounts do not need to move to iCloud. Simply use your inactive or expired account to sign up for an iCloud account and follow the onscreen instructions. See this article for more information.

You can't merge accounts or transfer iTunes purchases from one Apple ID to another: but there is no problem about using two IDs.
Use your ex-MobileMe email address (which is also an Apple ID) for iCloud for syncing email, contacts, calendars, bookmarks, and PhotoStream.
Use your other Apple ID as before for iTunes, iTunes in the Cloud and iTunes Match.
There's no conflict about doing this, and you won't even notice as Keychain will log you in with the correct ID in each case. It's also better security not to have your iTunes login also your email address, given the number of complaints about hacked iTunes accounts.

I cannot get my address book to merge with iCloud?

Yes, the settings all appear to be correct on the Info page in Itunes.  I have contacts checked to synch, calendars and mail accounts but only the contacts are not moving to the Iphone.

  • What does it mean when setting up iCloud that it asks merge with iCloud?

I am setting up iCloud on my phone.  It is asking me if I want to "merge with iCloud"?  Will I lose contacts or pics if I say "Merge".

    Welcome to the Apple community.
If you already have some contacts on your phone when you sign up for iCloud, iCloud will ask you if you wish to keep these contacts on your phone only and start an additional iCloud accounts for contacts, or merge the two accounts together so that all the contacts will be in the new iCloud account.
Nothing will happen to your photos when you sign up for iCloud photos are not involved in this procedure.

This has worked fine with MobileMe with only a couple of minor glitches in the past.
Any experience doing this the "right" way?

To clarify: you are not being charged for the extra storage - it's complimentary to reflect the fact that you had storage in MobileMe. At the end of June it will disappear unless you care to pay to renew it.

  • How to make multiple MobileMe accounts work in iCloud?

I have 2 MobileMe accounts.  One is an old @mac.com that I use strictly for e-mail.  The other is my current @me.com (with an alias @me.com address) that I use for everything including iTunes store account.  I've already moved my @me.com account to the cloud.  Here are my questions:
Do I move the @mac.com to the cloud on my iMac?  Will it override any calendars, contacts, etc.?  I want to add it to my iOS devices as well (iPhone and iPad at least).  I see under accounts on my iPhone I can add an iCloud account, but can I add it without compromising all the data from my @me account?
Do I have to do anything to the alias account to move it?  Will it go away if I do nothing once MobileMe goes away?
    Thanks for any help.

  • E-mail address on closed MobileMe account on new iCloud account.

So I had tried MobileMe a few years ago and created an e-mail address. I never kept the account and now want to use that same e-mail address on iCloud. It tells me that its in use and when I go to me.com and try to sign in it says I can't renew.
Is is possible to cancel all that out and use that e-mail address on my current iCloud account?

I had a problem like that. After a system upgrade, I started over with an icloud account. Then yesterday I was asked to manually enter my appleid. Because I was new to  icloud, I was able to talk to a tech at Apple. After the call was over, I realized that my old MobileMe account had resurfaced and my new icloud account was lost.
Sorry that my reply is not a solution

  • HT4759 Contacts on my IOS device will not merge with iCloud.

Despite all aspects of iCloud being turned on, my contacts and calendar entries are not merging with the cloud. Have used trouble shhoting tips to no avail. I am contemplating deleteing the account and starting over.

To get the contacts that belong to your non-iCoud account(s) into iCloud, do the following:
Go to Settings>iCloud, turn Contacts to Off, choose Delete from My iPhone when prompted (your iCloud contacts will still be in iCloud).
Download the app My Contacts Backup.  (If you have more than 500 contacts to transfer from your non-iCloud accounts you will need the “Pro” version.)  Use the app to back up the remaining contacts on your phone (from the other accounts) as a vCard attachment to an email that you send to yourself.  Confirm that you have received the email.
Go to Settings>iCloud and turn Contacts back to On.
Go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Default Account (in the Contacts section), and set this to iCloud.
Go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars...tap each of the non-cloud accounts that you are syncing contacts with and turn off contacts syncing with these other accounts (otherwise you will see duplicate contacts on your phone).
Open the My Contacts Backup email and tap the attachment to import the contacts from the other accounts back to your phone, and to iCloud.  All your contacts should now be in iCloud.

  • How do I disable my MobileMe account and add iCloud as the account for sharing photos in iPhoto?

I have been trying to email work photos from my MacBook that were downloaded from my iPhone into iPhoto.  However, it states, "the server does not recognized your email/password".  I had/have a MobileMe account but have transferred everything over to iCloud.  Unfortunately, iCloud is not an option when trying to add the following: iPhoto>Preferences>Sharing>Email>Add Account.  I thought that it would have automatically converted the information over to iCloud from MobileMe but this did not happen.  How do you add iCloud as the email account for sharing photos from iPhoto?

I;m going to bump this because I've been trying to figure it out for a week on these forums...

  • Notes will not sync or merge with iCloud on my mac. I am using Mountain Lion

Any help with syncing notes with Icloud would be appreciated. When I try I just keep getting a message to try later. All other apps sync fine with my Iphone 4.

If you use Time Machine, you may be able to recover from it.

  • Recovery of Calendar data lost when Merging with iCloud

I Was wondering if anyone could help.
Basically, I have somehow managed to wipe ALL the entries from my partners iPhone 5c calendar when turning calendars on for iCloud. When prompted I pressed the merge calendars button and then everything disappeared. I turned iCloud calendars off again and the calendar which was called something like "on my iphone" has disappeared.
I downloaded some 3rd party software which scanned the phone and found the calendar entries, but to restore them would cost my £55 for the full version of the software. Is there a way to access this data and restore it without spending this sort of money?
Just to complicate matters, a backup of her phone hasn't been done since the start of june, roughly 7 weeks ago. I'm concerned that if I restore from that backup she'll lose contacts she's added since there along with saves and other updates she's made to apps on her phone, which will put me in even more trouble than I'm in already. I'm guessing the phone hasn't been synced with iTunes since this backup was made, although I have transferred recent purchases.
So, is there a way to recover the calendar data that has disappeared without losing anything else?
    Thanks for for your help

    Hi
No I hadn't created a Calendar Archive before this mishap (I will now), and I thought it would be covered by the Time Machine Backup.   I was activating my iCloud drive for the first time and I think that it was doing this that somehow lost the calendar data. Previously the Calendar data was on the Mac hard drive.
I have now managed to get the old calendar back, but I don't quite know how.
The links to calendar backup in your reply led me to tinker more with the Time Machine, and the data on the My Passport drive directly. I could not see the any calendar directly in Finder or Time Machine, but a Finder search on My Passport's latest backup showed various calendar stuff, including .ics files, in [users/myname/library] which were hidden.
I either restored one of these, or imported one via Calendar. I tried both, but neither seemed to work at the time. However, I reopened Calendar a some time later and found that the “lost” calendar had returned.
I couldn't find a way of revealing hidden files in the preferences, and I think that the library containing the Calendar files must be hidden because I could only see them via “search”.
Anyway, all's well that ends well, but I wish that I really knew how I fixed it. Thanks for your help.

  • Why doesn't my gmail account work with iCloud?

I just set up iCloud after loading Lion on my iMac. Now my gmail acct is not recognized. I have deleted and re-configured twice on the iPhone, but am getting a message saying the account name and/or password are not correct. Help!!

You don't give us anything like enough data to go on. What is your operating system? Do you have a functioning iCloud account - i.e. are you signed in in System Preferences>iCloud?
Were you originally a MobileMe subscriber? If so, did you migrate to iCloud?
Was your email still working recently? Do you get any error messages? What happens when you try to use it?
Have you been using an @icloud.com address or an @me.com address?

  • Server 10.8 Network Account Users with iCloud Accounts

    Hello,
I have a server running OS 10.8.2 and a few client Macs all running 10.8.2
Two people in the office login to network accounts stored on the server. When these users enter their personal iCloud credentials to use the various services (Contacts, Calendar, Mail, etc.) they run into issues...
Each time the Contacts app is launched it reloads all information from iCloud – this takes a few minutes; launching the Mail app is extremely slow as well – it does not recognize the iCloud contacts and will not save custom signatures when entered into the Mail preferences; the Calendar app acts sporadically as well based on the fact that the Contacts are sporadic – birthdays are duplicated and the notification center notifies the user of the same birthday over and over again.
I'm not sure what's going on... Is the use of iCloud supported by network hosted home folders??
I'm appreciative of all your help!
    Thanks so much,
    Max

An update: I deleted the users via the Server app, then deleted the corresponding home directoires via the Finder on the server.
I then recreated the users in the Server app and all seems to work fine. Also, on another note I realized that when a network user logs into a computer for the first time, Spotlight indexes the entire computer. We have a couple Mac Pros in here with over 8 TB of data and this indexing slows things down for the network user.
One issue remains and it may be a bug: the Mail app will not save signatures and rules that network users create. Once the user logs out those settings are lost. This is a bummer...
Anyone else experiencing this? Anyone know a fix?
    Thanks,
    Max
