Inacurate mouse to screen performance

I'm having some (ongoing) difficulty with my powermac. The mouse curser lacks precision, making it extremely difficult to draw paths in Photoshop or even select menu items. I'm question ing the possibility that I need a better video card than the stock ATI 9600 128 that came with the box. However, I wanted to get a few opinions and see if anyone else has experienced this type of issue.
The ATI card is currently running 2 Planar PL2020M 20" LCD screens. Do you think that's too much to handle, or could my problem be something completey different?
Thanks,
ChefR

Hi ChefR,
Welcome to the Apple forums.
I agree completely with Steve, above. I've had a lot of mouse problems in my time and most of them were related to dirt. Even the Optical mice can get dirty, or rather, obstructed. Personally, I could never get the feel of using wireless mice, always felt they were lagging.

  • Variable screen performance in BEx - post upgrade to BI7

    Hello,
We have recently upgraded to BI7 - SP16.  We are using the 710 gui, patch level 3.  Bex version is 3.5, patch level 6.
Since we have upgraded, we have been experiencing a major performance hit when opening the variable screen of a query, as well as navigating within the variable screen.  We are using the Excel version of BEx.
When we were on 3.5, opening the variable screens only took about 5 seconds, now it takes 30.  To use F4 for the dropdown lists, in 3.5 it took about 3 seconds, now it takes 15.  To enter multiple selections, it took 1 second, in BI7 it takes 15.
Our users, needless to say are getting very frustrated with the performance.  The query execution time is comparable to when we were on 3.5.
I have this open as a high priority issue with sap, but they have yet to come up with a fix.
Has anyone else experienced this?  Any suggestions?
    Thanks
    Charla

    Hi

I think note 1044219 is important for you:
    1. The BEx Web Analyzer executes queries before the system displays the variable dialog. This cannot be avoided.
    2. You cannot prevent the BEx Web Analyzer from saving variables in the workbook and using them again when you reopen it.
Additional it includes other notes and hints regarding performance in variable screen and F4 help.

  • SAP SNC Portal DCM screen performance is very slow and times out

    Friends,
SAP SNC Portal DCM screen performance is very slow and times out when user trying to pull data using customer location
What are the cleanup activites we can do to improve the overall SNC performance ?
We did open OSS message but so far no reply from SAP , Is there any one faced performance issue ?
User/vendor is complaining about slowness , query is standard SAP and its taking more time  .(table - /LIME/NTREE) , It looks like number of data are huge causing this problem related to LIME/NTREE table. What are the options to improve the performance ?
    Thanks in Advance
    Hanuman Choudhary

    hi Team,
Pls . note the advise from SAP below, IS there any have experiance of archiveing /LIME records ?
Please advise how to start & what the steps in archiving ?
    Thanks in advance
I had a look at the DCM query performance in PH1 system and figured out
that most of the time is spent at the LIME layer of database. The
following LIME tables are having far too many entries and is causing
the bottleneck during the query execution.
    /LIME/NLOG_QUAN - 38,165,467
    /LIME/PN_ITEM - 19,116,518
    /LIME/PN_ITEM_TB - 19,154,124
These tables are storing the historical information about LIME(stock)
updates. Since these table grow with each change/update of stock
information, it will slow down the performance of the system over a
period of time. And to avoid the slow responses, the tables should
ideally be archived on a periodic basis to keep the data volume as
minimal as possible. You may have to discuss with the Business to
determine the number of days of LIME record you would want to retain
in the system. I would strongly recommend you to consider the LIME
archival retaining the minimum days (<=60 days) of historical
information. You can find more information about the Lime Archival
    in the Sap Help link:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_scm2007/helpdata/en/44/2a83121dde23d1e10000000a1553f7/frameset.htm.
Kindly get in touch with your BASIS consultant for the LIME archival.
The application performance should definitely improve after the LIME
archival. Please do not hesitate to get in touch with me in case you
require any further clarification in this regards.

  • Only wallpaper and mouse on screen!

    hi!
I have a mac mini (not Intel based) and I made the hard disk "not access" to me and to administrator too! Then, first the applications trying to run had a "?". I could not take back the privileges on the hard disk and reboot the mac. Now mac is opening but I now have only the wallpaper and the mouse on screen! I tried to boot from installation cd but I cant!
Pressing "C" during starting up does not make the system boot from the CD! Tried the "shift" during start up too but again an empty wallpaper and a mouse I can move... What should I do?

  • Control a computer without keyboard, mouse and screen

    Hello,
I have installed ARD3 in a MacMini Core Duo and it works perfect.
After that I remove the keyboard, mouse and screen I start the mini just with the power and network cable but I can't log into it. I guess there has to be a way to control the machines in that way.
    Regards,
    2pacy

I think the reason you've received no replies is because nobody understands the question you are asking.
You stated "I have installed ARD3 in a MacMini Core Duo and it works perfect." and then followed it up with "...but I can't log into it."
What did you install on the mini? The agent? The administration software? If you installed the administration software, the agent is not turned on by default. This means that even though you may have been able to run the application, you won't be able to connect to the machine from another computer.
We are happy to help, but we need to understand the question being asked.

My screen got bigger and when I move the mouse, the screen moves as well. What can I do about this?

Actually as Roam said, you can keypress, Option + command + 8
But i think wat you asking is that you dont want the screen mving when you move the mouse. Right?
For that you can, goto, System Preference -> Accessibility -> Zoom -> More Options...
Once you click more option, you'll get a window. Look at the bottom of the window for 3 options with bullet buttons. SELECT "ONLY WHEN THE POINTER REACHES AN EDGE" and click "DONE"
    Viola!!! You're troubl's are over!!!

  • Variable screen performance in report

In my project we are having  somany master data objects,
we have to find the performance of selection screen ,earlier we have only display as selection screen  as key now according to our client requirment we are providing both key and text in sleection screen with long text , how can i find these master data objects performance in variable screen.
The SAP std out of the box setting for an Infoobject is usually the key.( Sometimes text )
We are now making changes to almost all info objects to display as key and text, and depending on what business is asking we are changing to Long text, medium or short.
    Investigation required
    1)       how does it affect the performance when we do F4 help
    2)       how does it help in search by text
    3)       what difference does it make when searching by key vs text.
My feel is if we show the key and text , definitely the key comes from Dimension table and the text will be fetched from the text table of the master data attribute
And hence for business partner etc it might really affect the time taken to fetch the variable values.
please help how to find the performance of variables.

Yeah, It won't have much impact on the performance of the selection screen.......
Even we are displaying both key and text for many reports but never faced a performance issue.......

  • Xorg 1.7.1+xf86-video-intel 2.9.1 brokes keyboard,mouse and screen

Hello there. I'm using Archlinux with core+extra repos (xorg-server 1.6.3 and intel drivers 2.8.1). Today I've tried to update to xorg-server 1.7.1+xf86-video-intel 2.9.1 drivers.
After X restart I've got strange screen (Acer One 110 netbook), seems like it vertical divided and I can use only left half of it. But at bottom right corner I can see icons of gxneur and xchat (if running) on stalonetray. All other right half of display as "black hole" - can't see windows moved there and so on.
Keyboard and mouse also doesn't work. Updating xf86-input-keyboard/mouse from testing repo can't solve problem. Also I have "Option "AutoAddDevices" "disable"" in my xorg.conf. So..I've tried to back to previos versions of xorg-server and intel drivers.
Keyboard and mouse are works now, but screen is still vertical divided.. It looks like there is strange transparent "always on top" window at right half of screen, which hides all other windows under it, but couldn't be seen itself.
So.. what can I do to take back working X?

AndyRTR wrote:When you want to use packages from testing repo you need to -Syu ALL packages. There are also new keyboard and evdev drivers and more. You should read around how to deal with upgrading Arch and how to use the testing repo. It's not recommended and expected to work when you only pick a few packages.
Ok. System upgraded from testing repo. Keyboard and mouse are works. But strange area on screen is still there. It's a strange framebuffer or smth same I think.

Area with "OPENBOX" text is it. There are no "EE" in Xorg.0.log

  • Booting from Install disc Stalls at strange Mouse & Batteries Screen

Any thoughts/suggestions/answers would be greatly appreciated...
I have my hands on a friends iBook G4 purchased in April 2006. They were having problems with it and decided to wipe the drive and re-install the OS etc.
They got it wiped but could not get thru the installation process due to errors. They assumed it was a scratched install disc, and gave it to me to fix.
Upon receipt, I put in my Tiger (retail, not computer specific version) disc and booted via holding down the 'C' key. Got thru the first grey screen, then thru the grey screen with the grey Apple logo on it, and then up pops a screen I've never seen before; and the process stalls here.
This screen looks like two outline images of the Mighty Mouse from its underbelly. Image one is showing you where to install the batteries, and image two is showing you where to turn it on. And on image two, where the laser is, it's flashing red.
    Here's a picture of it @ http://adairnet.com/ss-mac-install-stall-screen.jpg
I couldn't get past this screen so I booted it in Firewire Target Disk Mode into my other computer and used Disk Utility to fully wipe the drive (thinking there may have been some odd file on it causing this issue). That didn't help; when I booted from the Tiger disc again, I stalled at the same spot.
Then I discovered a way past it - it was only by plugging in an old single-button USB clear Apple mouse into the USB port, that caused that screen to go away and proceed to the Tiger installation screen.
I tried this several times, and consistenly, the screen would always come up if no mouse was plugged in, but as soon as I plugged the mouse in, immediately it went away and continued on as normal.
I was able to complete the installation process and everything seems to be working as it should now. I'm just dying to know what this screen was for and why it came up.
Other things to note - even after I have a successful/working OS on the iBook, if I try to boot from any disc containing an OS, I get this same screen/situation.
I did discover the reason the initial install failed was due to bad RAM, which I've replaced and checked and is working fine now.
I've also checked the system with TechTool Protege and found no errors.
Also note that the iBook owner never uses any external or wireless mouse - just the trackpad, and has never experienced any issues with it.
And lastly, to let you know, I did reset/zap the PRAM, did the Open-Firmware resettings, and reset the battery/power-management too without any affect.
Could it be a faulty (or soon to go out) trackpad, disc drive, or USB port? Or something else? Any thoughts?
After searching over 30 pages of search results here, I found a few more posts with similar issues, but as of today (1/2/07), none were resolved...

    TIA!

i actually had this same issue and called and talked to tech support about it, they transferred me to a product specialist and told me the reason it would do this is the install disk is most likely not the original one that came with the computer
he said that if the install disk is different, it may not recognize the specific trackpad the unit is running since it could be a different build, and will than assume that the computer is using an external mouse. If it than doesnt register the external mouse, it will assume that the mouse just doesnt have any battery power.
it makes sense to me, i also was able to bypass the "error" by using an external USB mouse, and i know my install disks were just the family pack that came from the apple store, so i can only assume thats what could be going on.

  • Black box (line) surrounds and follows mouse, 'mini' screen size, PIP?

    Hi,
I just tried to install the new wireless mighty mouse and wireless apple keyboard.
The mouse worked for a minute, but the install of the keyboard killed the BT mouse and now there's this ANNOYING black box around the mouse cursor.
After playing with it I've noticed that the pointer cursor, which is surrounded by this box (4:3 ratio box, approx 2" wide by 1.5" tall on my 20" 1600x1200 monitor).
The odd thing is the cursor's position within this box moves in correlation with where on my overall desktop the cursor is placed: If I put my cursor in the upper right corner of my whole screen, the mouse cursor is also in the upper right corner of the small 'box'; if I move it to the lower left of the screen, it is also in the lower left of the box, and so on for the other two corners, and if it's in the middle of the screen, it's in the middel of the little black box.
    So this seems very strange.
Oh, and neither the BT keyboards or the new mighty mouse BT will show up in the BT menu as recognized devices, though they did just briefly in the beginning.
So after buying a new USB hub to be able to plug in the Apple/Belkin USB hub along with the Apple store's D-Link USB Bluetooth adapter and a new BT keyboard and mouse - $200 for a wireless keyboard and mouse, all I have is ultra annoying new software problems and all the same wires as before, with an additional keyboard and mouse on my desk. UGH!!!
Can anyone help with this 'black box around the keyboard issue, at least?
Thank you soo, so much for any solutions!

Oh and this weren't enough my barely used video ipod video 60 GB self-distructed this AM - melted inside somehow. I am in Apple ****.

    GREEN STAR FOR YOU!
Of all the things - somehow, and I've never even been into this control panel, inside the Universal Access/Seeing/Options dialogue, the box was checked saying "Show preview rectangle when zoomed out".
I unchecked this, and it went away. I had not selected this, ever. How it happened, I don't know except that I do have a Logitech NuLOOQ tooldial device which I had unplugged from USB while troubleshooting my BT wireless keyboard and mouse, and this device requires having the 'enable access for assistive devices' checked in the Universal Access control panel.
Perhaps unplugging that device somehow lead to this problem, but otherwise I've never 'visited' the UA pref panel or checked anything in it.
Odd, but THANK YOU for the suggestion!!!

  • Wired mouse causes screens to move about

I've read problems with mouse cursors that move randomly. My problem is that the screens I'm working on jump around randomly when I touch my wired mouse. I've dis- and re-connected both mouse and keyboard; I've also changed mouse settings in System Preferences, but I can't stop screens from moving without losing use of mouse. Is there any way to reset? Will new mouse solve my problem?

Hi, have you tried:- SMC & PRAM resets..
I would also consider trying another mouse & keyboard combination so as to reassure yourself your existing K/B & Mouse are not giving the issue..L

  • Subtle noise when scrolling, moving mouse, other screen activity

Let me say up front: this is *not* about fan noise. I know what fan noise is; I hear it like everyone else; this is something else.
The noise I am posting about is hard to describe, but it comes fairly close to classic hard drive noise but it can't be that in this case because my X220 has an SSD.
The noise occurs when I scroll in a window, or move the mouse across the screen. It is definitely associated with screen activity.
I would love to know what it is. I have it on another laptop as well (ThinkPad T61P).

I also noticed this noise and am curious as to what the sounds actually is. I can't imagine the CPU gets scaled each time the mouse moves a tenth of a milimeter.
