Inbound copying to the server?

Hi Guys,
One of our client is asking if it is possible to allow copying FROM the Remote Client Computer TO the SERVER. But not FROM SERVER going to the client.
How we could achieve this? Any idea or suggestion guys?
By the way, the server is running on Windows 2012 and clipboard copying is disabled in Group Policy. No third party apps, they will only use RDP.

Make sure that the user is able to access workstream from the site collection through VPN. If the user is able to access already, try to download the file locally and see if the data is getting loaded and upload again.

Files are copied from the server very long

After upgrading to OS X Lion to Mac pro, very long are copied large files from a network server. Instead of 4 minutes, 13 minutes is up. How to speed up the process of transferring a file? Sorry for my English .

A problem of low connection speed in the network
There is an engine connected to the corporate network (a switchboard is cisco catalyst 2960).
The operating system used by the Mackintosh is Mac OS 10.7.4. When downloading a file, a low speed problem arises. For example, a file of 1.7 GB size takes at least 12 minutes to download.
There were no such problems prior to OS update (OS 10.6.8 was previously installed).
About 20 iMacs are connected to the same network and these machines do not have any speed problems and limitations.
Both patch cord and a port on the switch were tested - they also do not have any bugs.
Network configuration and SMB setup were set by default. We tried to set up MTU manually - but there was no result.

After installing Mavericks I had problems copying to the server. Was advised to remove the com.apple.finder.plist from Preferences. This worked - but now I have lost the menu bar from my second screen! How do I get that back?

I have tried re-inserting the com.apple.finder.plist into my Preferences folder and re-booting - this didn't work.

First, that cannot be an iBook G4 as that machine cannot run Snow Leopard let alone Mountain Lion. To run Snow Leopard it has to be an Intel processor, not a G4. What does it show as the Model Identifier in About This Mac, More Info, System Report, Hardware, Model Identifier?
Second, if you have erased the hard drive there should not be remnants of any prior content. Even though Disk Warrior is saying nothing is wrong with the hard drive, it sounds as though there are problems. You may want to consider simply replacing the hard drive so there are no questions about faults. A good source is OWC, http://www.macsales.com where they also have on-line videos showing how to do the replacement.
Third, you could also try again to restart using the Snow Leopard DVD/CD and use Disk Utility on that install disk to erase again, and do it a couple times, then try to install. If it continues to refuse, then it sounds as though there is a fault with the hard drive.

How do i save a copy of my emails on the server on a macook pro? I am having a problem when using hotmail on my new macbook, they say it is set pop3? i have not idea what this means!

Check your mail preferences. The example below is from the mail app that comes with mac. In my case I'm using yahoo mail which is a POP3 account. POP stands for post office protocol which is the set of rules used by a POP mail account to transfer mail. You can learn more about it here if interested. If the box below is checked, all the mail will be downloaded to your computer when you check your mail using the built in mail app and removed from the mail server. Here is another page to help you set up your hotmail account for use the the mac mail application. Hope this clears things up.

I 've tried to remove the existing keys But Not able to remove them as well.

The Packaged are already there on the server as the RHEL software DVD is copied on the server.
Yes it was working before the crash, And Even after the Crash i.e

I 've Tried searching on google as well for at least 10 hours but did not get any help from it so far.
The Reinstallation of OS is not AN Option for me rightnow.

Want to delete mails from Thunderbird but not from the server?

Hi,
Please tell me how to configure the settings of Thunderbird so that if i delete any mail from Thunderbird that mail would be delete only from Thunderbird not from server. I'm using IMAP configuration for all my mail accounts and I'm using Thunderbird in my laptop and tablet both.
Currently i'm using Thunderbird 24.4.0 and i just want to delete my useless mails from Thunderbird but not from the server without using pop-3 settings.
Actually the reason for this Question arises because whenever i use to uninstall and reinstatement Thunderbird, i use to take "profiles" as a back up and its size is increasing day by day that is making a big issue to me as i cant take a back up of such a big size file.

Imap mail accounts keep the emails on the server and you see a remote view of those emails and folders.
When you subscribe to see a folder, the headers are downloaded, when you select an email to read, the entire folder is downloaded to a temp cache facilitating quicker access. If you synchronize folders, then a copy of that folder is downloaded to an mbox file in your profile, so that you have a copy of the server folder. When you make any changes to a synchronized folder, read an email, delete or move etc, then Thunderbird will resynchronize with the server to update the server. A synchronized folder allows you to work in 'offline' mode and this is the best time to perform a backup as you know there is a temporary stop on synchronizing as you are offline. They will resynchronize when you go back into 'online' mode.
So, with IMAP mail accounts, the folders you see in Thunderbird are the same folders on the webmail server. If you make any changes via Thunderbird or webmail then you are changing the same folder. You cannot delete an email without deleting it from the server, they are one and the same.
What you can do is move/copy an email into Local Folders and delete the one on the server. The Local Folders emails are kept in your Profile on your computer, these folders/emails are not on the server, unless you chose to keep a copy of them on the server.
Pop mail accounts cannot see the folders on the server. They only access the server Inbox folder and download emails not previously downloaded to the mail account Inbox in Thunderbird. These emails are kept on your computer in your profile folder. You can select to keep a copy on the server or not. You can choose to delete emails off your computer and off the server or not.
If the mail account is gmail , have you subscribed or even synchronized to see the 'All Mail' folder ? Gmail's all Mail folder is their Archive folder, it keeps a copy of all of your non-deleted emails. So, you do not need to subscribe to see this folder as it only shows you what you can already see in other folders. It doubles the disc space.

You do not have to download/synchronize the entire folder. You could select to only synchronize the most recent xx days of emails.

Performance in the Server with the created report - Crystal Report 2008

      We have developed a complex report and deployed in the server. It takes more time to process and once if the report created and we are trying to expand a group/navigate different pages, the same time delay is happeneing. Sometimes it takes more than a minute which really kills the performance. My client has accepted the delay while the report is being genrated but they raise question like why it takes too much time just to display the created report.
I tried keeping the created report in Session and rebind on page_load as well stored a copy on the server and rebind whenver postback happens. Both methods working simliar and no improvement the in the performance. Is there any way to kill the time delay in this.( we have an idea like , if we store the created report at client machine and whenever postback happens just bind from client machine instead to hit the server back, Is this achievable)

   We have created a Stored Procedure and connected the SP to the crystal report.
What are you comparing the performance to? E.g.; is it faster somewhere else? How much faster?
    No, we didnt compare anywhere. but my question is to avoid the delay in navigation of pages or selecting an item in the group tree. The report contains 100+ pages and client is accepting delay while creating the report but not during navigation or selection( why do the already created report takes more time(even in minutes) to render on navigation or selection and how to avoid the delay))
Define "complex report ".
Nothing complexity in the report even we have used oly less formulas(less than 5) but chats are included and used for each group( we have 6 groups in the report)

Can't copy files to server - multiple instances of same user in getinfo

I can't copy files from one of my desktop computers to a server that I administer, via AFP. When I try to do so, I get the following sequence of messages:
1. "You may need to enter the name and password for an administrator on this computer to change the item named [file]"
2. "The item [file] contains one or more items you do not have permission to read. Do you want to copy the items you are allowed to read?"
3. "The operation cannot be completed because you do not have sufficient privileges for some of the items."
BEFORE I attempt to copy any given file to the server, Getinfo shows that I have read and write access; unknown has read-only access, and everyone has read only access.
AFTER I attempt and fail to copy the file, another instance of "Me" appears in the Getinfo, with Custom privileges. The other users and permissions remain as above. Even after I unlock the file, I am not allowed to edit permissions for any of the users.
I have repaired permissions on the client. This issue has persisted through 10.5.2 and the 10.5.3 upgrade.
I can successfully copy to the server from another one of my computers. It's just this one client machine that's giving me trouble.
What gives???

It looks like a configuration problem with our servers/network. We have tried several new laptops with 10.6 in different parts of the company, with different network switches and locations, and get the same result. Anything with 10.5 or older has no problem. I broke the raid1 apart on my Mac Pro and installed 10.5 on the second drive, and have no problems now.

Coping files from G5 to Xserve G4 crashes the server

The past week when I copy a large amount of file from my G5 to the Xserve (w/raid) { I am copying files from one raid partition to a new raid partition}. The server will start locking up and everyone that is connected will start getting the beach ball. The only thing I can do is restart the server and raid. I can copy from the server the sames files from one raid to the other with out any problems but not from a client.
Has anyone seen this happen to them.

Mail unable to save sent messages on the server

i get this error when sending messages with the IMAP mail server. Mails are not copied on the server.
Mail[3277]: Error (null) occurred while trying to append messages to outgoing store. Ignoring and proceeding with delivery...
Everything is fine with Thunderbird so it appears to be a Mail problem

Same problem here, although it only happens with emails and certain large attachments. They send fine but are not copied to the sent items box. I am using exchange/IMAP.

Folder on a server has the Red Circle with the No Access Line through it. I cannot change the permission to Read and Write, cannot add another user or group. Cannot access the folder in any way to move, rename or delete.
Get info allows me to change permissions to read and write but then reverts straight back to no access.
I am familiar with File permissions on Macs so I have tries all obvious routes, folder is not locked in any way other than by it's permissions. If you try to do anything with the folder it says The operation cannot be completed because you do not have sufficient privileges for some of the items, I then get promted for the username and password. (I have tries using the username and password of both the server and the Mac that originally copied the file - NOTHING!
Files cannot be nmoved, edited, renamed or deleted so as you can tell this is becoming quite a problem, when copying the folder to a desktop message appears: One or more items can’t be copied to “Desktop” because you don’t have permission to read them. Do you want to copy the items you are allowed to read?
Anyone found a solution to this? Is there a way to override a folders permissions once they are set?

If the permissions are set before copying to the server this will sort the problem, is there a way of 'defaulting' permissions on all files on a local Mac?

HELP: modification date/time of Indesig changes afther copy files to server

When i copy a folder witch some Indesign documents from my iMac (10.6.1) to our Apple xServe (10.6.1) its happens often that the Indesign documents on the server ands up with a changed modification date/time. It's changes the date/time in the date/tim when the copy to the server found place! We use 18 iMac's and encountered this problem daily on several iMac's
I hope someone can help me with this weird problem!

I am also experiencing this problem. I have done further testing and found that only one of my shared volumes (all on the same RAID) is having this issue, and further - that operations with package (collect for output) are also affected. If anyone has any info, it would be welcome!

I updated to 5.0 today and now when I try to email from my phone, I am thwarted by the pop-up, "cannot send mail. a copy has been placed in my outbox. the recipient (email address) was rejected by the server. I need help, please.

This happens with my business address. Receiving works.... sending doesn't.
My SBC Global address on this same phone is fine...receiving and sending.
What to do? I'm stressed.

Hi,
I had the same issue on my iPhone 5S. My internet/email provider told me to uncheck (turn off) USE SSL under Mail settings, and it worked perfectly for me.
