Inbound mails

Hi all and first of all happy new year!
I am a novice to SAP but have the task to get inbound mails working for a netweaver 7.0 (ECC6.0) installation.
Outbound mails are ok but I can't find a way to configure the other direction. I've searched help.sap.com but couldn't find a walkthrough.
Any help is welcome!

Hi Uwe,
Then there still isn't something configured alright. I know, it can be a pain to get it working from end-to-end, since there are a lot of things that can get in the way.
You can perform a simple test on the Operating System the SAP system resides on to see if the SAP system is capable of receiving inbound emails. It should look something like this:
telnet [hostname] [SAP SMTP port]
helo [IP-address of the server]
mail from:<your_email_address@your_email_domain>
rcpt to:<your_email_address_in_the_SAP_system>
data
From: your_email_address@your_email_domain
To: your_email_address_in_the_SAP_system
Subject: Test
Hello Test
quit
The email should be visible in the inbox in SAP Business Workplace of the recipient user.
Kind regards,
Henk.

  • PORT_ACCESS Configuration to accecpt inbound mail from 1 IP address

I have a inbound mail proxy that relays imbound mail to my final destination iMS5.2 mail server, for this reason I want to block all un-autheticated inbound connections to my iMS5.2 server except for the IP address of the mail proxy(s).
It seems the way to do this is through edits to the PORT_ACCESS mapping table.
    My default looks like so
    PORT_ACCESS
      *|*|*|*|* $C$|INTERNAL_IP;$3|$Y$E
      *  $YEXTERNALWhat I think will do as I require would look like this.
We do not allow users of our sub-net to send outbound mail in an unauthenticated manner, so I think these rules will not affect authenticated users.
    PORT_ACCESS
      *|*|*|*|* $C$|INTERNAL_IP;$3|$Y$E
      TCP|*|25|212.115.144.233|*   $Y
      TCP|*|25|*|*              $N500$ Not$ Inbound$ MX.
! *  $YEXTERNAL Since the last rule of the origional enabled all inbound connections, the dropping of the line with the additional 2 filtering linnes should do what I want.
Thou I'm not quite sure about the meaning of the $YEXTERNAL key word line, this seems to accept from all "*" sources (accept as designated by the "$Y"), as to the meaning of the terminating "EXTERNAL" Keyword, I'm not sure of the meaning.
    -Lee

I would set up a test box, and test. The documentation for port access is somewhat foggy to me, too . . .

  • INBOUND MAIL PROCESSING in SAP for Offline ADOBE FORM Concept

    Hi to all,
Please can anyone tell me, what INBOUND MAIL PROCESSING in SAP for Offline ADOBE FORM?
What is concept and how to use it, is any program need to write for that or only need to configure it.
I have searched the SDN, but only get topic how to configure inbound mail processing.
I am new to this area; please any one put some light on it.
I shall be thankful to you for this.
    Regards
    Pavneet Rana

    Hi Pavneet,
Inbound processing of an offline adobe form consists of several things -
    a) an email id to be created on the server (to accept the mail & process the adobe form - this needs to have the right roles)
    b) the smtp config needs to be done by basis
    c) the abap developer needs to create a handler class that gets called when an email is recd in SAP. This handler class has 3-4 methods (first to read the mail and extract the pdf, convert data in pdf to the abap variable, process the form to do the specific function in sap (which will vary from requirement to another).
I found this blog very useful when I was getting my adobe form done -
    /people/thomas.jung3/blog/2004/09/09/receiving-e-mail-and-processing-it-with-abap--version-610-and-higher
    Hope this helps.
    Cheers, Liz
(ps: you might get more help in the adobe form specific forum in sdn)

  • Exit Class for Inbound Mail not getting triggered

    Hi Gurus,
I have created an exit class for processing the Inbound Mail that comes to SAP Inbox (SOIN).
I have set up the Inbound processing rule in transaction SO50 and set it to all recipients.
If i send a mail from any external id to the id configured in SAP then it is coming in SAP Inbox (SOIN) but the exit class for processing the email is not getting triggered.
I have made all the settings for SMTP.
Kindly guide me with the steps needed to be followed for triggering the Exit Class.

  • Server 3.2.2 - Inbound mail stuck in queue

Last night I installed updates to my OS X 10.9.5 system.  The updates were "Security Update 2014-005" and "OS X Server 3.2.2".  Somewhere along the way my inbound mail started getting stuck in the mail queue:
    #mailq
    F21E958DDE4     5108 Sat Nov  8 22:09:15  [email protected]
(delivery temporarily suspended: connect to 127.0.0.1[127.0.0.1]:10024: Connection refused)
                                             [email protected]
I checked the usual suspects and indeed it would appear that amavis is alive.  lsof  shows:
    #lsof -i TCP:10024
COMMAND    PID     USER   FD   TYPE             DEVICE SIZE/OFF NODE NAME

None of the logs have any clues.  telneting to the port works but w/o a banner can't tell what's going on:
    # telnet localhost 10024
    Trying ::1...
    Connected to localhost.
    Escape character is '^]'.
    ^]
    telnet> quit
    Connection closed.
Is anybody else seeing this problem?

Another Clue, these started showing up in system.log today:

it would appear that something is going click every couple of minutes and fails.  I'm going to go look at the launchd plist file.

  • How to debug for inbound mail in SAPconnect - ERMS

    Hi,
How to debug from the point of receipt of an inbound mail in SAPconnect so that we can see the data being passed to the ERMS Workflow WS00200001.
    Regards,
    Deepak

    Hi Ashish,
Thanks for your prompt reply. Let me explain the scenario in little bit details. If you want I can post the screen shots at flickr etc. for better understanding.
In transaction SWI1: we are getting Error at Invoking Service Manager for Workflow WS00200001. The error is "ERMS support object: Could not find DOCUMENT - Message no. CRM_ERMS020.
In transaction CRM_ERMS_LOGGING: We are getting error "Exception in method constructor (CL_CRM_ERMS_XPATH_TAG): Service CL_CRM_ERMS_ADD2FB_DOCUMENT failed. Cannot read email".
On providing valid email document id or work item id in transaction CRM_ERMS_LOGGING the required action is executed and everything is ok.
We tried to debug in SCOT by DBG+ but on receipt of inbound mail debug session does not start.
Actually we want to understand, on receipt of email what data is passed to the workflow as method call CL_CRM_ERMS_CONVERTER->CONVERT_DOCUMENT does not return XSL content and the error message is raised. It is possible that the previous method call SERVICE_MANAGER->GET_EMAIL_ID() does not retrieve a value for doc_id, but we are not sure without being able to debug through from the SAP connect process.
    Regards,
    Deepak

  • I need help resolving issues with inbound mail on 10.8.5 server.

    Let's start from the beginning.
I had a Mac Mini server running OS X 10.7 since 2011. I have a static IP and domain registered. I used it for mail, calendar, and web service.  It was working beautifully until a week ago.  Suddenly it stopped processing mail for me from google and apple managed domains.  There may be other domains, I do not know.
I checked my external firewall and the correct ports are being forwarded (25, 587, 993).  Connected to a remote network, I can verify that nmap shows the ports as open.  I can telnet into the server on port 25 and send mail.  I checked with the ISP and they are not blocking/filtering those ports and the DNS they are hosting for me appears to be correct (unchanged from when it was working).  I've looked in the logs, but I'm not sure what I'm looking for, really.  I upgraded to 10.8.5 and server 2.2.2 last night in an attempt to rectify the situation but I'm still unable to receive mail from my other accounts (iCloud and gmail).
I've been trying to troubleshoot this issue for a while now and I'm all out of ideas.  If anyone has any advice I'd really appreciate it.
    Thanks,
    Trevor

    Hi,
I can send/receive mail locally.  I send mail to [email protected] from [email protected] and [email protected].  This works while on my LAN and connected to my work via VPN.
I'm not listed on any blacklist, either by domain or IP using that tool.  The MX lookup tool at that site lists everything as OK, the MX record appears to be correct.  The SMTP test at that site shows a "failed to connect" error.  The exact error is:
Connection attempt #1 - Unable to connect after 15 seconds. [15.04 sec]
I'm not sure what I'm looking for in my log files.  I do not see any inbound connection attempts from google or apple domains when I try to send from my other e-mail accounts.
when I run the dig command, I get the following output:
    dig @8.8.8.8 -t mx bakernet.ca

I don't see an  A record here.  My DNS is hosted by my ISP, my server is performing DNS lookups for my LAN.

That does show an A record for the mail.bakernet.ca hostname.  Looks like my ISP is to blame?

  • Configure postfix to accept inbound mail only from Google

I like to host my own email on a Mac Mini running OS X Server.  I’ve also looked for solutions that allow filtering out SPAM before the mail gets sent to my server.  For many years I used Postini’s spam filtering service to clean incoming email before Postini forwarded the mail on to my server.  I now use Google mail, part of Google Apps service to remove spam and to archive all the mail.
The approach of letting Google clean emal before sending the mail on to my OS X Server uses two domains, one a “public” domain for incoming email and another a “private” domain used only for  forwarding the filtered email to OS X server.
All went well with the defult Postfix configuration that came with OS X Server for a few months, then SPAM started creeping into my “private” domain as various spammers discovered my private email address and started sending mail directly to the Mac Mini, bypassing Google.
Whenever I had spare time I would search the web looking for how to configure Postfix on OS X server so that email from Google and my other machines would be accepted and all other email would be blocked.  There were lots of write-ups on how to relay outgoing email to Google, but I couldn’t find straightforward configuration instructions for configuring Postfix to only allow incoming email forwarded by Google or coming from my machines and block all other sources.
With a Google apps account you get telephone support so I gave Google a call and within a few rings got a very pleasant guy who listened to what I wanted to do and didn’t have the configuration setup, but did offer to send me a document showing the blocks of IP addresses used by Google for sending email.
I’ve posted several requests for help doing this type of configuration and never received responses that made sense.  So in the interest of helping anyone else that wants to configure Postfix to accept connections from a set of specific IP addresses and refuse connections from all other connections for inbound email, here is what will get you going:
Use your favorite text editor to edit the Postfix configuration file (I use BBEDIT) but use whatever you like.
On the OS X Server open this file:
    /Library/Server/Mail/Config/postfix/main.cf
Immediately do a “save as…” to make a backup copy with a different name, such as …mail.df.back1 in the same directory so you can revert to the backup if necessary.
substitute your domain names in the following commands:
public.com   -  change to your publicly advertised  routable domain
hidden.com  -  change to your OS X Server  routable domain
lan.com - change to your OS X Server lan domain, should be registered to make things clean and shouldn’t be .local
10.6.18.0/24 - change to your LAN subnet
host - change to your host name
Your Postfix configuration file should contain these commands (and probably more).  Each situation varies so do what you have to for your situation….
Have Postfix add your public domain name in the email header
    myorigin = public.com
    mydomain_fallback = localhost
    message_size_limit = 41943040
    biff = no
aaa.bbb.ccc.ddn - Your publicly routable IP addresses provided by your ISP
Let Postfix know your LAN network, the routable addresses you have from your ISP, and the Google networks where the Google email servers live.  Get the latest list of Google networks hosting email at this address: https://support.google.com/a/answer/3070269

Any suggestions to make this better or more efficient welcomed!

After a few telnet tests I can answer my own question: It makes an open relay server to spammers! But to solve the former issue with the connection refuse, I had to switch to virtual hosting in the advanced tab of the mail service and add my own domains.

  • How to make email client account setup automatically select inbound mail and smtp server.

I have the mail service successfully running on OS X Server 10.8.2.  I am able to send and receive email as well as setup email accounts on various email clients (iphone, ipad, mac, etc).  I notice that when I set up a new account that I have to specify both the inbound and smtp mail servers as well as specifying the user id for each.  I am using an SSL certificate that appears to be working.  The ports are selected (993/995 and 587) automatically and the default is to use SSL.
However, when I set up a Comcast account - (configured as "other") - I only have to enter Full name, email address and password - and from this it is able to determine that the incoming mail server is "mail.comcast.net" and outgoing smtp server is "smtp.comcast.net".  It also fills in the userid and password for both inbound and smtp servers - as well as the ports.  I have been trying to get this to work automatically when setting up accounts for my mail server - but have not been able to figure out how to do this - or if it is possible.
In googling - I have found that I can set up several different SRV records such as (_submission._tcp, _imap._tcp, _imaps._tcp, _pop3._tcp, _pop3s._tcp) and these are supposed to provide this functionality to email clients that are able to use the SRV records.  I have set these up externally at my registered domain provider - and I am able to query them via nslookup, dig and host.
Is Comcast using some other special method of providing the server names to the mail client setup - or am I doing something wrong - or is this a functionality that needs to be supported on the mail server side as well.  I am relatively new to mail servers and trying to work my way through the learning process.

Understand the functionality you are wanting, basically one can use Outlook / Exchange mail server as an example. It just happens.
As I understand in the background the DNS _SRV records point to a machine which serves up an XML file and that is the information which tells the client how to configure itself.
I did some research before posting my first reply and found that, in the Apple client situation, even when someone setup the the SRV records + the XML it didn't work seamlessly.

If you were going to persue it you will need to find out the format for the autodiscovery XML file. Also the XML file will have to be hosted on your server, you couldn't likely put it on the public DNS server.

  • First Exchange 2013 server in 2010 Deployment - 2010 edge is routing SOME inbound mail to new server where it fails.

I have a Barracuda filter receiving all inbound internet mail which delivers to the edge server (both in DMZ).  I have one 2010 edge server and one 2010 ht,cas, mailbox server.   I have added a 2013 server and started working
on configuring virtual directories.  This is a far as I have gotten. Goal is once new box is working to move all mailboxes to 2013 server and remove 2010 mail box server and keep Barracuda and 2010 edge server to pass mail to the 2013 box.
My issue is the edge server is already passing inbound internet mail to the new 2013 server.  I see the mail being accepted by the Barracuda and message tracking on the edge shows it as delivered to the new 2013 server, but mailbox
    users never receive.
Is my solution to simply create a new send connector from the 2013 server to the 2010 box or could this be something else?
And why is it delivering to a server with now mailboxes on it yet?
    Thank you for any help

    Hello Dean,
I understand that the message tracking log indicates the email delivered to Exchange 2013 server. Please check the message tracking log on both Exchange 2013 server and Exchange 2010 server.
How about the result? Have you created new 2013 mailbox and tested if it works?
As for the send connector, actually an intra-org send connector will be involved for internal mail flow within an organization. So there is no need to create another send connector.
In addition, I’d like to share you an article about Edge Subscriptions:

  • Confirm Alerts using Inbound Mails

    Hi,
I have well configured the Alert Manager for CCMS and mails are sended to the recipients.
Now I like use the 'Alert Confirmation with Inbound Processing' to confirm the Alerts in RZ20.
All needed settings are made and I receive mails in the corresponding inbox as configured in SO50.
Please find all my setting :
    1)  TC alrtcatdef --> Settings ---> Configuration
Inbound Processing user is set. User is called 'MAILCEM'
    2) TC SU01, user MAILCEM has a mail adres '[email protected]'
    3) TC SO50, alle entries are set as mentioned in the Configuration Guides
Inbound processing has been set up in transaction SO50.
You must enter the Internet mail address of the alert user, * for document class, and CL_ALERT_CONFIRM_BY_MAIL as the exit name.
    4) I receive mails in my personal mailbox.
    5) The body of the mail has an Alert ID like : Alert ID: ##00852##
    6) When I replay this mail, I receive a mail in the Mailbox of user MAILCEM ('[email protected]')
    7) BUT THE ALERT IS NOT CONFIRMED IN RZ20.
I can not find the reason why.
    Anybody who can help me?
    Thanks
    Paul

  • Dropping connection from inbound mail

About 2 days ago our server stopped being willing to receive messages from one of our client's outbound servers. Sometimes they receive a message bounceback immediately, other times in several hours or overnight. No changes were made to our server or mail configuration and we are successfully receiving messages from numerous other folks to the same address without issue.
Included below is an excerpt of the mail.log file showing an attempted connect to our server and then "immediate" loss of connection. I have tried restarting the mail service and rebooting the server (10.5.4). Does this look like an issue at our end or their's? If ours, any thoughts on cause and cure? Note also that we're behind a Cisco Pix, but no changes have been there for a considerable period either and the "no fixup protocol smtp 25" is set. We are not running spam filtering.
Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Brian

Always fun to answer your own question. It turns out that the application of the "no fixup protocol smtp 25" to the Pix seems to have resolved this issue. Very odd I must say, because the "fixup" had been active since setting the unit up years ago... Nonetheless, mail from this client is coming through now (including the backlog...oh joy).

  • Inbound mail routing based on LDAP attribute mailsystem

    Hi gents and ladies,
    i have a small question ...
is it possible to route an email to a recipient based on an LDAP attribute like mailsystem or ldap attribute domain ?
We have an infrastructure with domino and Xchange. All users have a - so called - maindomain.net SMTP Address.
Is it possible to manage such routing via mail policies or message filters ?
Or is it just easy to realize this jjust with SMTP routing list ? e.g. maindomain.net gets an entry in SMTP routing pointing to the domino gateway ... if no delivery is possible the default gateway (Xchange gateway) would be used instead ?
Thanks in advance for your help and hints.

    Hello  HPGroh2013,
I think I answered your question in the previous entry, at least it looks the same to me.

  • SO28 Inbound Mail Sender Email Address not available - after SAP upgrade

We have recently upgraded support packages on our R/3 system and
discovered that inbound emails (SO28) that could previously be identified by
the email address in the format of typical email address format are now coming
into the system in the format outlook display nameu2018lastname, firstnameu2019.   We use the email address to validate against the SU01 data to make sure the email is coming from a valid user.  This is causing our custom written validation of the inbound email address to fail.
We are using function module SO_DOCUMENT_READ_API1 and retrieving the
email address from the field document_data-send_fnam.
We have updated the following support packages
    BASIS 6.40 SP 17 to 21
    ABAP 6.40 SP 17 to 21
    SAP HR 5.00 SP 21 to 39
    PI_BASIS 2005_1_640 SP8 to 13
    SAP APPL 5.00 SP 10 to 18
    PI 2004_1_500 SP12 to 17
    EA_FINSERV SP10 to 18
Has anyone ran into similar issue?  If you have, could you let me know how did you resolve your issue.
    Thank you.
