Inbox message panel is blank, but I know that messages have been received
I am able to send messages, and receive them, but I can't see the received messages. My POP3 inbox message panel is blank yet the Inbox indicator at the left says 10 messages. I can hear new messages come in, but I can't view them. I repaired permissions, but that didn't work. I can see them on my MBP, but not on the desktop iMac. Advice please.
I am unable to rebuild the mailbox (greyed out) or solve the problem. However I did a workaround by creating a new mailbox and directing messages to it via a rule. Apparently no one else has had this strange problem with no apparent solution.

I know that there have been lots of posts about render times
but can someone explain the dramatic increase in render times when I upgraded to fcp 5.0 from 4.5. I am rendering a project originally started in 4.5 and it is only 2 minutes of ntsc dv 48khz. My render times went from 2-3 min (5 max in a bigger project) to 47 minutes. I used very few transitions. This is a very straight forward project and it is making me nutty.

JimOne contributing factor may be that the sampling has been switched from Fast Linear (the only option in pre-5) to Medium, which takes longer. Try ctrl-clicking on your sequence and selecting Settings... and changing it and see if you don't get an improvement.

You have to delete the corrupt back-up so iTunes can at least back-up the current data on the iPhone and then restore it. Search these forums, there a several good posts on how to delete the corrupt back-up.

I just purchased pro, but when registering it I don't get the QuickTime 7 Pro" below the Registration Code. I have no idea how to proceed, but do know that it's not working. What do I do?

Hmmm. I'm more used to dealing with this sort of thing on Vista and 7 systems ... and it can also be a bit easier to implement workarounds on Vista and 7 than it is on XP. But we can try some basic principles troubleshooting if you're game.
If you're game ... first, by way of experiment, let's try a "Run as ..." and see if that gets you the Pro controls.
Quit the Player.
In My Computer open Local Disk C:\ or whichever drive you've got your program files installed on.
Open the "Program files" folder.
Open the "QuickTime" folder.
Right-click on the QuickTimePlayer.exe file and select "Run as"
Select the Administrator account, entering your password if you've got one.
If the Player launches, do you see your Pro controls active now? -

lots of people seem to be havgin a problem sending email from iCloud webmail.
does your email address have uppercase characters in it?
if so, try creating an alias in lowercase (go to preferences in iCloud webmail and select 'accounts') and see if email sends okay from that -

Either the physical drive or the enclosure electronics has failed. The light you are seeing is powered by the USB connection, the power, electricity, all USB ports put out. That doesn't mean the actual physical hard drive or the USB to SATA bus electronics are working properly. If it doesn't show in Disk Utility then it is DEAD.
Most of the time it is the enclosures electronics that fail. Removing the physical drive from the enclosure and put it in another enclosure or using a SATA to USB adapter, one that has it's own AC power supply, might allow you to get the files off the drive. -
Hi,
I am getting a warning message on screen, saying that myiPad hasn't been backed up to iCloud for two weeks, and advising under what circumstances the message appears. My problem is, is that I have backed it up, but am unable to remove the message, and whilst the message is there, the iPad is frozen, and I cannot do anything.
Has any other user had such a problem, and if so, how did they rectify it.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up -
I recently started getting a message popping up asking me for my Yahoo password and it references my email address that is attached to Yahoo Sync somehow. It happens very frequently and I don't know that I have ever done anything with sync and I want it to go away. Anyone else had this problem?

As I said in the other thread that you posted in the other forum, your friend clearly has not restored the iPad correctly. I suggest that you undertake another restore and start again.

Welcome to the Apple community.
Given what you've have described, your friend cannot have restored the iPad correctly. You need to decide whether you are willing to delete his contacts manually, or carry out another restore. Personally I think I would go for the restore. -
I have been receiving the message ' Cannot get mail. The connection to the server failed' but I am connected to WIFI. I have also been receiving 'Cannot send mail, an error occurred while delivering this message.
Hmm, that's odd JeanEB. The error message referts to the connection to your email server not to cellular data or connection to wi-fi. Go to Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars> Select your account and type in your password again. If this doesn't resolve it, delete/re-add the email account.

A update(6.1.5) was available for my ipod 4 and an error occurred. Itunes is telling me to restore my ipod, but i know that if i restore my ipod everything will be erased. It rather depends on where you are seeing the demand for a passcode. If, as I assumed, you are trying to change the password at http://appleid/apple.com then that will ask for a passcode if 2-step verification has been set up. On the other hand, if, as Csound1 has assumed, you have changed the password on that website and are trying to enter it in your phone (for which you need to sign out completely before you can do this) and are being asked for a passcode that can only be one you set yourself (unless of course the phone is second-hand in which case that would open a whole new can of worms).
