Incapable of Adding Artwork for Movies

Very frustrated that I can add movies and tv shows but when I go to update the artwork for them it displays the outline of the artwork for a few seconds, then goes back to the screengrab that was there before, almost like its being overwritten. I have tried copying the art, dragging, clicking add artwork all to no avail. Has anyone else been experiencing this? Extremely annoying Such a basic function appears broken.

I was suggesting you set your Import Settings to Apple Lossless and convert to that format. The files are supposed to be significantly smaller than the corresponding .wav but using a lossless rather than lossy compression method so no audio quality is lost. In princliple wav > Apple Lossless > wav should give the original audio data. Using Apple Lossless (or AIFF) format you can have the original CD audio quality together with any custom artwork you copy and paste from the web.
Test out a single album, not using my ConvertFormat script but the iTunes "Create XXX version" tool (set import settings, select tracks, right-click), and compare the before and after quality. If you're happy with the results the benefit of using my script to process other .wav tracks is that the converted files will inherit ratings, play counts, playlist membership and the originals are sent to the recycle bin so that you don't have to manually clean up.

Crash when adding artwork for Films/Movies

I have converted some DVDs to .mp4 format for use on my iPad. The files play fine in Quicktime and iTunes, but when I "Get Info" and add artwork for the file - after clicking ok, the spinning beachball appears and iTunes eventually crashes.
The files themselves are about 3GB each. I have tried opening iTunes in safemode, and it does add the artwork, but as soon as I deslect the video, the artwork clears again.
Does anyone have a solution, or some tips?
I am using Mac OS X 10.7.3 and iTunes 10.6 (40).

This is also driving me nuts... Actually, I have not even figured out how to even enter a new appointment in month view. It used to be double-click, enter name, hit <tab> and fill out he rest in the panel, but this routine does not work any more.

How can I get ITUNES to display manually added artwork for each song regardless of the album name?

I have been manually adding artwork to my songs. When I click the Show Artwork check box, it doesn't show the cover art. For example some greatest hits albums have different cover art per track. ITUNES picks one of the cover art and shows it for the entire album grouping.
Anyway around this? I want the added cover art to display per song.

The artwork of each individual track does display during playback, in the small thumbnail at the top of the iTunes window, or at the left of the MiniPlayer control (opens by clicking the thumbnail), or the larger artwork panel that is shown if you click on the Show Large Artwork control in the MiniPlayer. It should also display on any iPod or iOS Now Playing view.
The Up Next list uses the album art (usually cover of the first track) for everything from the same album, which is perhaps a shame, although in general one artwork per album makes sense.

Artwork for Movies

At one point I was able to drag artwork (.jgp) from my desktop and place in the Album Artwork window to change the artwork for a movie, but I am no longer able to do it. Has this change? I need some help. Thanks.

Yes. I've actually done artwork for iTunes' TV show section. The specs from Apple request artwork of the TV Show as 600 x 600 px at 72dpi.
These are the specs that Apple gave me as the designer to build to for the show's CoverFlow art - or as Apple calls it, the "TV Show Cover".

Artwork for .mov's

I don't seem to be able to change the artwork in itunes for Quicktime .mov format movies. No problems with .m4p or m4v, but .mov's won't let me add or delete artwork.
Any way around this.

Can't Add Custom Artwork for Imported Movies...

I recently made a home video and exported it to iTunes with iMovie HD. I want to add my own picture for the artwork, but whenever I try to, iTunes always freezes. When I restart iTunes, I cannot edit the artwork and I can't play the movie. Any ideas on how to fix this?

When I've added artwork to movies it takes a long time to load depending of the files size. If you wait long enough it should load. Sometimes iTunes will crash. But if you just reopen it, play your movie, the artwork should show up.
It also sounds like you broke the file. Just re-export it and add the artwork again.

Spinning ball when iTunes changes SOME metadata for movies -- why and can it be fixed?

I'm putting in the metadata, including the artwork, for movies in iTunes and it's driving me nuts becaue the little rainbow ball comes up and stays up the bigger the file. It's not like iTunes is rewriting the movie, is it? I don't understand why it should take 2 - 3 mintues to change the metadata. Is there a way around this?

Yes it can be moved into music videos by right clicking on the music video, selecting get info and clicking on the video tab on the top of the little window that opened up and open up the video kind menu and select music video out of the list.

Can't load artwork files in iTunes for movie covers

I used to be able to add artwork to movie files by going through the GET INFO section. When I do it now using iTunes 10.5.1, it appears to be trying to load, but then it stops with no result. I'm using .jpg files as before. I tried to load an image that I loaded previously; I tried copy/paste of an image from a movie I purchased through iTunes; I even had a friend send me a copy of an image file that he is able to load successfully...all with the same result...no image loaded.
I am thinking I'm missing something simply, but quite frankly, I'm stumped!
Any thoughts or suggestions? Thank you!!

1) find an MP3 file on your file system (in Windows Explorer)
2) Right click on it to get contextual menu
3) Select Properties
4) on the General Tab the text "opens with" appears - in your case it'll be windows Media Player
5) Click Change
6) Select ITunes
7) Select Always for this type checkbox
8) Now try double clicking on an MP3 file
9) Does it start playing in ITunes?
10) Check Itunes settings: Edit>Preferences>Advanced
11) Are the checkboxes Keep Itunes folder organized and Copy to Itunes foler when adding selected? If not - read the manual to understand what those two settings do

iTunes will only download album artwork for songs that it can find in the iTunes Store. iTunes will check each song in your iTunes library and attempt to match it up with a song in the iTunes Store. If the data matches, iTunes will download the album artwork from the iTunes Store and add it to the song in your iTunes library. If iTunes does not find a particular song's artwork in the iTunes Store, you will not see an alert message. iTunes simply does not download artwork for that song. If the data does not match, you will have to add the artwork manually.

RemoveChild for movie clip that was added in another function?

Hello everyone. I have 3 different functions for my preloader. I have an Event.OPEN, ProgressEvent.PROGRESS, and an Event.COMPLETE. In the event.OPEN function, I create a new variable that is data typed to the class name of my preloader that I set in it's property dialogue box. This is just a simple circle animation. Below is my code for it:

Artwork on my iPad does not match iTunes and is not correct for movies, TV Shows Nd some songs

Artwork on my iPad does not match iTunes and is not correct for Movies, TV Shows and some songs & Albums. Is this issue resolved? If so what was or is the fix. I have not been successful in locating that. I found posts stretching back into late 2010.

most of these items were downloaded from eihter iTunes or in the case of movies, imported into the app and then loading them to TV Series or Movies as appropriate. They were all fine until about two days ago when I did a sync. Then the artwork went haywire. I tried manualy removing and replacing the artwork in iTunes with the correct jpg's. and then re-sync. iTunes shows everything OK, but the iPad is the one with it all messed up.

I have 4 non apple pc exhibiting same issue. Whether you have ten movies on board the pc or 500 on external storage Itunes locks up after you "get info" and try to add video cover from IMDB whether the art is in my pictures on PC or off USB key / external storage. Very frustrating to the extent that I bought a macbook thinking that it may be a non apple issue and bingo same issue whether films on macbook or on nas/ external usb. Effectively itunes may be made to crash by adding artwork!
2nd Issue noticed at weekend I have a small music library of approx. 35gb music in itunes music folder when a playlist was being played within itunes and airplay was selected to an airport express that is connected to distributed music system in house all works well during party. Guest have access to DJ app via remote app or control of content being player. My kids disappeared into the front room and while playlist on notices 2 things. The ipod touch ( 4 mths old) would not connect to apple tv player 2nd generation while airplay on to music system and the infra red remote remote worked fine but apple tv would not see video files in itunes while airplay on. When airplay disabled all absolutley fine , re- enabled airplay and apple tv bumped again. I have a wireless N router and have successfully had 2 apple tv 2nd generation working off itunes video files without issue. There are delays but both are seen in remote app and both players see itunes folders. I would have thought video streaming to apple tv players sucked up more bandwidth that one airplay to airport express and one apple tv 2nd gen.
Anyone experienced same

OK - I managed to fix this. Will document for others.
I started to think it was a firewall thing. So I turned off both my Windows 7 firewall and my BT Home hub firewall. It started working!
So turned back on the BT home hub firewall - still working. So it must be a windows 7 firewall.
Went in and checked that Itunes was there as an exception... Yep. So why still not working?
Found out that the entry in my Windows 7 firewall said I-Tunes - but when you looked at the details button it wasnt pointing to a program - it was just blank.
So added a new entry and pointed that at the I-Tunes exe file.
Now all working...

Manually added artwork won't stick anymore.

I can get it added but it's not persistent. It goes away as soon as I go away from the particular album.
This used to work. I've added lots of manual artwork for the album covers. But somewhere with new releases of software it broke. I'm on the current version of Itunes but can't tell you exactly what version used to work.
I've completely uninstalled and reinstalled Itunes as recommended by support but it didn't help.
Is anyone else having problems with their manually added artwork?

In list view (the leftmost View button), to display artwork for the currently selected item, choose View > Show Artwork or click this button (in the bottom left of the iTunes window):
Make sure the artwork you import into iTunes is a compatible format. If your personal movie is a WAV file, it must be converted to another format before artwork can be added.

ITunes woes with adding artwork

iTunes 10.0.1 (the latest).
Media is on a Time Capsule.
Attempting to add artwork to movies, tv (haven't tried music, but they are complete) and it spins and spins and does not add or iTunes goes unresponsive for 10 or 15 minutes causing me to force quit.
Or, I add the artwork, hit ok and nothing happens.
I recently purchased an Apple TV (2), so having movies on my macbook pro makes no sense and now been adding them and why they are on the TC. It plays fine, am able to add descriptions, etc. but can't add artwork.
Searched around here and someone suggested MetaX, tried that with unsuccessfully.
Any assistance would be appreciated as I've been at this now for some 2 hours.

I too am having the same problem, however my tracks aren't going into recently played.. I also am using 2 different users on this particular laptop and even when I share my library and it's visible on the other user's iTunes I cannot copy any of the songs onto their iTunes. They have admin access. I just don't know what to do this is killing me.

Wrong artwork for music

my iPod touch had all the correct artwork associated with each song.
1) album icon for each song
2) album cover in vertical position
3) album cover in horizontal (flow) position
Now that I have updated to v2.0 I have bunch of them that are scrambled! A single song may display a different piece of artwork for all 3 of the above positions.
What is going on? When I check the artwork on the iPod from iTunes it all looks correct but it is clearly not.

this also happened to me... the only this is that not only did it mix up the album art, but also added in the pictures that are to the left of the videos. so now for the album art i have some lovely movie pics...
apple, is it that hard to make an update work correctly?
what i'm thinking is that apple was concentrating mostly on the iphone update and rushed the touch upgrade using parts of the iphone update... thus all these problems everyone seems to be having. AND we have to pay $10 for something that doesn't work! sometimes i hate you apple.
