InCase rubber case review

Just picked up a black InCase from the Apple store today (TN563LL/A).
I am very pleased with it. I thought that since it was rubber it would be kinda sticky feeling (perhaps I'm comparing it with the silicone ones) and grab lint like no tomorrow. It's not bad on the lint thing - and it's been laying on my fuzzy blanket. It seems to remove any lint with a wipe with a lint-free cloth.
I'm especially pleased with the fit. It has holes for the headphone jack, the USB connector (won't fit in a dock without being removed), the speaker and mic, camera, and the silence slider, but the volume and on/off/sleep buttons are covered. I prefer the fact it doesn't try to cover the glass at all. It doesn't interfere with use at all, or any of the sensors. I'm much less worried about the glass than the chrome and the backing at this point (from the stress tests we've seen), and this 1mm or so of lift should help if it lands face down so it doesn't hit grit on the ground (though I splatted mine on the garage floor the other day with no damage).
I'm testing the heat retention right now. I didn't have any problems with music, so I'm running a movie now.
It will definitely keep it from sliding, and other than being harder to slide in and out it still fits in the side cell phone bag on my purse. Hopefully if I accidentally drop it on the corner it will take some of the shock, too.
No belt clip, but that's not the way I function.
My two cents. I'm still waiting for what Vaja has to come out with that's not magnetic, and I'm interested in possibly trying Lajo's Exo L with swivel clip so it acts both as a horizontal and vertical stand, but for now this is just about perfect for me.
My two cents,
Aym

I've noticed the stretching as well. If you do buy this case (and frankly, it's a fine case) then leave the iPhone in. I removed mine frequently for cleaning and the rubber has stretched.
I was looking at the Speck ToughSkin, but it looks a little too...knobby. I just ordered the iSkin Revo for the iPhone, which looks to have everything I want in a case except for a belt clip. I currently use the Contour iSee for the iPhone and I'd like to see what the Showcase for the iPhone will be like. I like clip-able cases as my phone is on vibrate most of the time and I often miss alerts/calls when it's in my pocket, but I also worry about knocking it off my hip somehow, or walking around with it out for all to see, screaming "Hey I'm a $500 phone, why not steal me?"
Is it just me or the iPhone causing people to seemingly collect cases? I've gone through three including the Crystal Jacket Set I returned.

  • Case review

I was given an early Christmas gift -- my very first iPod (G5, 30GB). Of course, after reading so much here about the necessity of having a case, I looked around online for something I thought I'd like and that would do the job, and I settled on the Sena iPod Video Dockable 30GB (it's also available in 60GB size) -- in magenta, since it's pretty. It's available in a variety of colors.
One reason I chose this was that I've had a Sena case for my Palm for a few years now, and it looks as good now as it did when it was new; the leather is good quality and ages beautifully. This new iPod case seems to be of the same quality and adds very little to the size of the iPod. It has a pocket in the flip cover, closes with convenient magnetic catches, and has screen protection built in. There's no protection for the click wheel, but I'm not sure that's absolutely essential.
As for usability, the case has a cut-out for the earphone jack, and there's another cutout in the bottom for plugging in the USB cable. The hold button is covered when the flap is closed, but it's easily accessible with the flap open -- this will prevent accidentally turning the button on or off. There is a removable belt clip, which will be handy if you don't want to put the iPod into a pocket.
As for cost, I was lucky in that I pre-ordered the case while it was still priced at $40; it's now $45 and apparently will be going up sometime in the future.
This is just MHO, and I have NAYY with Sena, other than as a satisfied customer. HTH someone.

    Thanks for that!
I've only tried the Incase Nano Case. It's got an LCD protector and is quite cushioned. If you're a perfectionist I'd not recommend it though, it's got a (as said in the reviews) tight hold spot (hard to reach) and it's misaligned: the scroll wheel is slightly covered so it's hard to start over a song, turn up/down the volume, etc. So summary:
    Pros
Nice look (kinda like a wallet)
    Nice material
It's got a nifty spot for credit cards, IDs, money, etc.
It's got a nice LCD protector (plastic so that it won't scratch the iPod)
    Cons
Doesn't align well with the scrollwheel
Some people said they can't access the hold button (I don't mind though because I just put it on sleep when I stop using it)
The iPod is kinda loose when in the case (it won't fall out, but almost)
    Just another opinion.

  • Rubber cases vs Hard Cases

I've had both the Incase Slider and the Incase Protective cover. I returned both after a while.
Incase Protective Cover - stretch at the bottom, but good feel
Incase Slider - doesn't stretch but will crack when dropped unlike the rubber case
So rubber cases don't crack and hard cases don't stretch. I used to think hard cases were better until I realized that they scratch the phone and crack when dropped on impact.
Can anyone recommend any rubber cases that don't stretch? Also, I was disappointed with the Power Support Air jacket that I just trashed it. I threw away the screen protectors too because I could never get air bubbles off. Also, the invisible shield started to crack.

I went to Apple looking for the Speck CandyShell but they were sold out. Instead, I re-bought the Incase Slider (gray this time) and I love it. I also bought a screen protector to go with it.
I'm gonna say I love this case. I should never have returned it in the first place and wasted $35 on the Power Support Air Jacket.
Ah well, this will be my main case from now on and I highly recommend it. I even got a screen protector (some default one at the mall) and it works nice. Though it is noticeable in light, it actually feels better than my old Invisible Shield. It's not bulky like the IS and I can slide my fingers on the screen as if I didn't have any screen protector on at all.
So I actually do prefer cases because the iPhone 3G has a plastic back this time, which is more fragile than the original iPhone.
If it was the original iPhone, I'd just buy a sleeve/pouch. This is just my opinion. So the $17 pouch I bought from Best Buy will sit in my box unused from now on.

The bottom rubber case of my macbook 13" late 2009 has expanded and has detached from the main body..As i'm not presently under warranty i wanted to know will the repair be free of charge for me. I had once got it replaced for free but in warranty. As i read some where in the support that apple had agreed with the defect and had decided to replace the bottom covers without any charge. And even if i'm charged for it what will be the amount  will hav to pay for it..
    Thankx

    Hi,
Here's the Bottom Case Replacement Link
    http://www.apple.com/support/macbook-bottomcase/
It doesn't answer your specific questions about cost... but it does advise to contact an Apple Store or an AASP...
Anyway have a look at it... if you haven't already..
    Cheers and Good Luck...

Hi jayrap, a big YES. I just bought a CLEAR Incase Snap Case for my iPhone 4s, yesterday afternoon at my nearest Apple store. The "clear" ones were going fast. What "color" are you getting?

  • Incase slider case with a screen protector....

I was wondering if anyone has the Incase Slider case yet...and if so, is anyone using a screen protector with it? If so...which one are you using and do you have any issues with getting the case on with a screen protector on? The reason I'm asking is because I was using the ifrogz luxe case and I could not find a screen protector that I could get the case on without the screen protector coming back up at the edges. I now have the Incase Slider case and before I waste anymore money trying to get another screen protector, I'd like to find one that works without coming up at the edges. Anyone have any recommendations on what is working for them? Thanks in advance!

i just recently bought the incase slider since they are new to market for the iPhone 4. when i bought the incase slider from best buy i also purchased the zagg invisible shield and i asked if they could install it for me cuz im bad at doing those kind of things and the guy from best buy mobile said that he would be more than happy to install it. It costs another $8 for them to install it for you (generally takes 15-20 min to install but they do a really good job). By the time he finished i had to wait a day for the invisible shield to fully dry but once it was i slid the incase slider case on my iPhone 4 and it fit perfectly without the screen protector coming up.

  • ZCover cases (review with pics)

I received my zCover nano cases today. Initial impression. Not perfect by any means. C+.
    First the basics...
You get two cases with your order ($24.95). One with an open bottom and one with a lanyard and flip bottom with headphone access. You also get a hard plastic screen cover which slips in behind the silicone case making a nice snug fit.
    http://img147.imageshack.us/my.php?image=everything6tl.jpg
    Screen coverage...
This is the best part. It's a hard plastic piece with little feet that raises it above the screen ever so slightly. I assume the feet are to prevent rubbing and thus scratching the screen as much. Very durable with a sharp and clear view of the screen. There is no distortion at all.
    http://img147.imageshack.us/my.php?image=screenbklan3xf.jpg
    Material...
This is where the problems start. It's very very rubbery. I know... it's silicone... duh. In certain circumstances your nano might bounce if dropped (a little levity never hurts). I think the material is a little too thick. Although my two cases seem to be slightly different in thickness from one another. Perhaps a quality control issue? One operates much easier than the other (more on that subject later). I chose the black one. It seems to attract lint a bit. Not horribly but there are a few fuzzy white things living on the case that need to brushed off quite regularly. Perhaps other colors would be more friendly in the lint department.
    Operation of nano with case...
Hold button. Okay, this is the biggest problem. The hold button on top is covered completely. It was impossible to move it on the one case so I had to cut a hole in the top to access it. On the other case it was possible to move but very difficult. I have long nails and struggled every time to move it. I can't imagine anyone without nails being able to move it without cutting a hole in the top.
Click wheel movement. Same problem. The silicone is not noticeably thinner over the wheel. You have to press much harder than normal to make it function. It does work though. Once again the one case was much easier to work than the other but still slightly harder than a naked nano.

    http://img147.imageshack.us/my.php?image=bottom7iw.jpg
    Conclusions...
If you are looking for something that is available now and completely covers every inch of your nano this case does meet those qualifications. This will not be my everyday case. I'd use this case if doing something grubby outside. Hiking, gardening, car repair, etc. It's well protected. It would not slide off many surfaces and has grips on the sides. The lanyard is iffy. It looks like a long shoelace. I'm wondering how long it would take to break off of it's connection to the case. It only has a tiny string attaching it to a rubber loop which is part of the case itself. I would feel the need to reinforce it's connection before freely using it.

Thanks for the review. I was ready to order one until I saw this! I guess I'll just have to wait until the iSkin Duo comes out, or the Speck SkinTight.

  • INCASE Slider Case - 3GS (and 3G)

Just got this matte black slider case, that I like because it covers all of the shiny bits on my black 3GS iPhone. Has anyone used this case before and have an opinion on its durability? It has a very snug fit, but looks like it may be easy to scratch the finish. Otherwise, it seems pretty decent.

While I don't specifically recommend any product as I no longer have my 3GS, this is the ONLY (emphasis on ONLY) case that I used and found comfortable, chic, and durable enough to outlast my phone. I dropped my phone from about 5' on solid concrete and the case cracked before my phone was damaged...
    INCase makes a good product.

  • Incase Snap Case vs Belkin Shield Micra

So I just downloaded the free case app and I'm having a hard time deciding between these two cases. They both look so sexy and much better than the $9 rubbery clear bumper I got from eBay (still good though). So, some questions I'd like answered please.
-- Are these both hard plastic and not rubbery gel?
-- Are the sleep and volume buttons covered or exposed?
-- Will I have any trouble plugging in my charger, headphones, or my car plug (same plug as headphones but has a thicker rubber around it)
-- Which one do you prefer based on your experience or just the looks of them?
-- Anything else I should know about?
Thanks for taking the time to answer these!

I wrap every apple product in Zagg's invisible shield the day I get it! This time I've held off but plan on skinning it soon. I tried to put an older nano in a hard case that I found but the invisishield made it too thick to fit in the case. I wonder if that would happen with either of the aforementioned cases.
I also just bought a white color wrap for my iPhone 4 (http://www.icolorwrap.com/colors.html)
I wanted to get a clear case so that I can see the white color. I think i'll put the color strip over top of the invisible shield after I get it. Does anybody have any suggestions on any of this?

  • Hard Shell or Rubber Case on the top of the invisible shield?

    Hey Guys,
I have installed the invisible shield on my iPhone 3G S and let it to dry for around 3 days now .. I just wanted to install shell on the top of it just in case to protect it from any drop damages and so on. The question is : Is it safe to install a hard shell cover on the top of the invisible shield ? or is the hard shell cover is going to harm the invisible shield in the long term?
    Thanks in advance,
    Rashid

    Our MBP is an A1278  (uni-body) bought in NZ 28 June 2011. S/N: CO2FW8NVDH2G
It looks more like a bit of dark grey foam rubber with a smooth coating . Was attached to the retaining bar and/or plastic pull tab on top of the display data cable connector and about the same length across and tapering towards the cable that goes to the display. I may be thick but who, what and where are OWC?
What problems could an insularor cause? I had another reply from someone via ifixit who said he liked the idea of a bit of neoprene replacing the lost pad! What to do?
    Thanks for your time replying

  • Bad Case Review

    http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/wa/RSLID?mco=9DF 6080&nplm=TN609LL/A
The Belkin sport armband. I bought this from the apple online store. It got here. I put my iPhone in it and go for a 3 mile run. I'm able to operate the phone just fine through the plastic covering.
When my run is over, I reach over to unattach the case from my arm, and my phone is partially hanging out. Turns out the plastic front is GLUED onto the outside of the case. What a hunk of junk. One use and it almost cost me my phone.

    Thanks for the warning
