INCASE Slider Case - 3GS (and 3G)

Just got this matte black slider case, that I like because it covers all of the shiny bits on my black 3GS iPhone. Has anyone used this case before and have an opinion on its durability? It has a very snug fit, but looks like it may be easy to scratch the finish. Otherwise, it seems pretty decent.

While I don't specifically recommend any product as I no longer have my 3GS, this is the ONLY (emphasis on ONLY) case that I used and found comfortable, chic, and durable enough to outlast my phone. I dropped my phone from about 5' on solid concrete and the case cracked before my phone was damaged...
INCase makes a good product.

  • Incase slider case with a screen protector....

I was wondering if anyone has the Incase Slider case yet...and if so, is anyone using a screen protector with it? If so...which one are you using and do you have any issues with getting the case on with a screen protector on? The reason I'm asking is because I was using the ifrogz luxe case and I could not find a screen protector that I could get the case on without the screen protector coming back up at the edges. I now have the Incase Slider case and before I waste anymore money trying to get another screen protector, I'd like to find one that works without coming up at the edges. Anyone have any recommendations on what is working for them? Thanks in advance!

i just recently bought the incase slider since they are new to market for the iPhone 4. when i bought the incase slider from best buy i also purchased the zagg invisible shield and i asked if they could install it for me cuz im bad at doing those kind of things and the guy from best buy mobile said that he would be more than happy to install it. It costs another $8 for them to install it for you (generally takes 15-20 min to install but they do a really good job). By the time he finished i had to wait a day for the invisible shield to fully dry but once it was i slid the incase slider case on my iPhone 4 and it fit perfectly without the screen protector coming up.

  • 3GS with Incase Slider dropped 4 feet onto NYC Cement

    Hello Everyone,
A couple days back my iPhone 3GS flew out of my back pocket while going for a mid air chest bump with a fellow gentleman.
It had the Incase Slider case on it with 'shock absorbing' tracks inside of the case.
There was no cosmetic damage to the phone however it suffered a loud smack on some NYC cement and made my heart stop.
If any damage were to have occurred inside what components are most susceptible to damage and how could I test their health?

Does anyone know the name of a utility which could test these things?
I don't think you have much to worry about, the iPhone probably passes some drop tests that exceed what you did. If you had dropped it into a puddle of water, you'd be out of luck. With the case on it, and I know the Incase Slider is solid, I doubt anything bad will happen. Relax.

  • Incase slider 3GS replacement?

Ive searched high and low for an answer, not sure if this is the right place the post this.
Im in the UK and bought the incase slider from the apple website last week.
The bottom section doesnt fit right, its far too tight and after doing some internet research ive discovered this is a common problem and that some of the incase slider cases are tighter than others... and I should call apple and get a replacement.
Last wednesday I phoned them and arranged a replacement.
I was told I'd get an email confirmation, and that somebody would phone me with in 24 hours to arrange to collect my current case.
Its now Sunday and ive had to email or phone call.
No idea what to do and there phone support isnt on over the weekend which I think is great! hehe
Anybody with a similar experience in the past?
Shud I wait a cuple more days?
    Cheers

One more time, apparently you are having a little difficulty with posts today. The OP, in his first post said: "...and bought the incase slider from the apple website last week."
Which would mean he purchased it from the Apple ONLINE Store. Unless he becomes a virtual person he will have a hard time going back to the Store where it was bough. The other poster had the right answer, call or email the Apple Online Store and check on it.
I'm not in the UK and I do typically return products to the store where I bought them. Unless I bough them online, where I have to do it through shipping, or if it was purchased at Fry's where they direct me to deal with the manufacturer.

  • Bottom row of the keyboard is not working in a vertical orientation on the iPhone 3Gs. the "slide to unlock" and all keys on the calculator on both orientation works fine. I can use the keyboard on horizontal orientation.

Bottom row of the keyboard is not working in a vertical orientation on the iPhone 3Gs. the "slide to unlock" and all keys on the calculator on both orientation works fine. I can use the keyboard on horizontal orientation. The tabs on bottom of all apps also work fine.
I have already tried holding down the power button and home button for 10 seconds, but no difference.

I've had this problem on and off for the last few weeks (around, but not directly related, to upgrade to 6.1...can't remember if was before or after)....I'm very convinced it's a software problem (as there have been times when the bottom row works perfectly, without any need to "press" differently or anything).
However, it seems to be a rather resilient software issue, as a full restore does not consistently fix it, and it applies to more than just the keyboard; if I open a drawing app, there's definitely a row (about 4mm up from the edge of the screen closest to home button) where I cannot draw.
It's happened 4 times now.  Originally it went away with a restore from backup, then worked for 2 more days.  The second and third times, it went away with a full restore (although I did two full restores in between those two restores that did nothing, so restore didn't consistently fix it)....and it seemed to return in the most random of circumstances.
I paid very close attention to what apps I was using the last time it was working so that I could spot which app, if any, might be causing the issue.  I deleted several apps, I stopped using the games and many other apps.   I only used three apps between it working fine and starting up as a problem again: mail, safari and messages.
I was convinced it was mail, as it happened this morning when I picked up my phone off the bedside table to respond to a new email.  It was working when I went to bed.  I picked up the phone when it buzzed, hit the email app, hit reply and started to type....**** bottom row wasn't working again.
However, tonight I did 2 things....one of them worked because it went back to normal (sorry, I don't know which as I was exasperated and trying a number of things).
The two things I did between a broken keyboard and a working keyboard were:
    1) adding a second keyboard (English(Canada)), changing to this keyboard, and changing back
    2) disabling Siri...and then turning it back on...and then disabling Siri's "Raise to Speak"
In retrospect, I wonder if it actually was the "Raise to Speak" that was putting the phone into a weird state, and might explain why the phone would just "suddenly" start behaving strangely when I picked it up.  Of note, the "raise to speak" hasn't actually triggered Siri to come on in months anyway.
Regardless, the keyboard is back to normal now...and I'm just going to leave "Raise to Speak" off.  I've put the keyboard back to just "English" with no alternates and Siri remains on otherwise without issue.

  • Incase Slider - Gun Metal

Just picked up the Gun Metal incase slider today for my 3GS. This case is flippin' sweet! Love the look and feel while holding it. I had an old Slider for my 3G that was hard as **** to get off, this is not that way. Just wanted to comment, very nice case!

I have a black slider for my 2g iPhone. I took it off a couple of months ago to clean the phone and noticed that a few grains of sand had gotten into the case at some point. I golf so I do occasionally spend some time in the sand!!
lol, i try to stay away from the sand but my ball still finds it sometimes.
i have the black Incase Slider for my 3GS and LOVE the tight fit. it doesnt move and i like how the case is really thin. i also got some plugs for my USB power plug and headphone jack so no dirt/lint can get anywhere.

  • Good slider case for 4S?

I just picked up a slider case (made by Incase) for my 4S. However, I soon discovered it was too tight, and thus it lifts up the screen protector when it's on my phone. I didn't have this problem with the slider case (also made by Incase) on my 3GS. What good 4S slider cases are there that don't nullify the screen protector?

    This isn't Apple here though

  • Incase Slider, top bit slides off not the bottom bit for me!!

Hi I just got a iPhone 3G S⃣ and a n Incase Slider. However when I try to pull off the bottom bit of the case for docking, its the top it that moves and slides off.
Obviously I dont want this as I suspect it may scratch the back of the iPhone when doing this. to get the bottom off I really have to dig in my nails and force it off.
What am I doing wrong? please help, its a great case apart from that
    cheers

Cheers, I got it off like that, although the top bit of the case stil slips down and bit and it takes more force to come off than I imagined it would.
Is yours as tough to get off?
I have an iPod dock upstairs, and have removed the older plastic dock connector for my daughters nano and put no dock connector in, and I can now charge my iPhone without removing even the bottom bit of the case.
Suppose it may get easier the more it comes off and on?
Has the back of your iPhone been scratched by the incase slider at all? either the slide bottom bit or the top bit? Its just I have a front InvisibleShield cover on, but got warned not to put the rear cover on as the incase slider wouldnt fit? to be honest would rather have the full cover InvisibleShield on but got advised in forums wouldnt fit, only the front cover
    cheers

  • Incase Slider for 3G

Anyone get this case yet? What are your thoughts if so?
I heard the original Incase Slider for the v1 Iphone was a great case.

Just picked one up last night....
Great case....fits like a glove and makes the phone lest likely to fall off my lap.
The black matte is what they had at the apple stores. Got the last one at mine!!

  • IPhone 3Gs and Mobile Me not updating Issues

I have an iPhone 3Gs and a mobile me account, everything was working well and if I entered info in my Calender or contacts either on the iPhone or my G5 Tower at home then they would sync up and merge so that the same dates or addresses were in both places.
Since updating the iphone to 4.0.1 I have had issues with date and contact merging.
If I add an entry in the calender it appear in my mobile me web calender when sync'ed, but does not transfer to the iPhone. I have checked that on the G5 the calender date book is the iPhones date book. I have checked that Calenders and Contacts are on the mobile me web. but they are not filtering down to the iPhone.
If I add a date to the calender on the iPhone they are not hitting the G5 tower.
This was never a problem prior to the phone software update. I have shut the phone down fully and restarted it incase that was an issue. I have also checked the phones Settings
Settings> Mail, Contact, Calenders and Fetch is set to Push every 30 Mins
    Push > Set to On
Advanced schedule> Push (Have also tried Fetch as well)
    and
    Settings>for my .Mac email> Mobile Me >
    Mail> On
    Contacts> On
    Calenders On
    BookMarks> On
    Notes>On
    and
    Settings>Calender
    New Invitations Alers > On
    Sync> All Events
    Time Zone Support> On
Is anyone able to to suggest how I can cure this issue

I am having the same issue (actually only noticing on phone Mail, haven't checked calendar yet). And this is an iPhone 3GS without the 4.01 update. Been noticing this for a couple of weeks at least. I'll even hit refresh in Mail and it acts like it's trying, but old emails remain (that I trashed at work) and new ones I saw at work iMac are not shown. They eventually update, but not like they should, especially after I have told the phone to refresh. Not the behavior I've known and loved for years.

Activation issues are almost always the result of a device that has been hacked or jailbroken. If that is the case, no support can be provided here.

  • 3gs and I've never backed it up so I decided I should. Says ok to disconnect so I do. Checked music and have 42 of some 435ish artists. Where is my ridiculously expensive music collection? Only voice memos in itunes library. Restore failed to fix.

Years ago I bought a 3gs and have never backed it up so after I cracked the screen I figured it would be a good idea to do so. I download iTunes and plug in the phone. Drivers load then backup in the summary. Everything goes as planned and iTunes tells me it's ok to disconnect. 3 voice memos were synced. Out of all my music, some 435ish 4.5 days of music didn't sync which I downloaded at considerable expense. I thought that was weird so I checked my library on the phone and I have new picture albums from deep within my laptop of junk I saved to reference and I have 42 artists on my phone. Really? I didn't tell iTunes to put pictures on the phone or to take my music off. I just wanted to save my stuff incase the broken screen let in moisture. I hook it up again to restore it and see if that helps and it tells me it will delete what's left of my once great collection because there is already a copy of my file on YOURNAMEHERE-PC. I clicked cancel as that would only add to my problems. I bought this phone new from AT&T in 2010 and it has never been hooked up to any computer that I'm aware of and it's always been password protected. *** is up with that and where did all my stuff go? Then support wanted money to provide support. I knew apple products were somewhat of a scam after losing my first 3gs to an otter box failure but this is ridiculous. Lost the first on to a pool when the otter box clip broke and I had to buy all my music back but this time their program may have possibly robbed me so I have to pay them a third time? I'd love it if anybody could point me in the right direction to resolve this issue and one thing is certain, I'll never buy another apple product again!

I have to tell you that music is not backed up to iTunes backup or iCloud backup file. You should check the part what is in iTunes backup. So, that's why you have not seen these songs after the backup. Of course, because of that, restore can't fix it. And only iTunes store purchased songs on your iPhone can be transferred to iTunes (connect your iPhone to computer > launch iTunes > in iTunes File menu, there is an option for Device 'Transfer purchases'). As for other non-itunes purchased songs, you should find a third-party tool to copy songs from iPhone to iTunes or computer. Search in Google, then you can find a suitable one.

This usually happens if the phone has been Hacked / Jailbroken / Modified...
    is this the case...?
