Include a pic in post?

Hi all,
Apologies in advance if this has been discussed before or is covered elsewhere, but I was wondering, how can I include an image in a post??
TIA
Blakey

I'm afraid I don't know any free hosters by name, but there are lots of them. I think if you do a Google search you will find quite a few. Even those that aren't free can be cheap. I've seen pretty good hosting deals.
However, you should check with your ISP first. Most all ISPs provide a certain amount of storage space for personal website or an FTP site. That's all you would need is just storage space. I would inquire there first.
Why reward points?(Quoted from Discussions Terms of Use.)
The reward system helps to increase community participation. When a community member gives you (or another member) a reward for providing helpful advice or a solution to their question, your accumulated points will increase your status level within the community.
Members may reward you with 5 points if they deem that your reply is helpful and 10 points if you post a solution to their issue. Likewise, when you mark a reply as Helpful or Solved in your own created topic, you will be awarding the respondent with the same point values.

  • "You have included content in your post that is not permitted" when trying to post very positive feedback about Apple.

    So I spent 2 hours writing a huge post about how I love what Apple has done with the Audio/MIDI/Sound config tools in OSX.
    I spent alot of time trying to be positive.  And i get to the end and click "Post" - this stops me and gives me the following vague message:
    "You have included content in your post that is not permitted."
    I am not sure what this means or why it appeared.  I used no negative content in my post, no cursing or trolling or anything... And i wouldn't try to troll or flame on these forums anyways.  I've posted some problems I've had, which were all addressed very quickly by the way.  And I've always said what I thought, but never just posted things to be negative.
    And then after my post is rejected, i tried again.  The discussion forums offered to restore my previous draft, but I clicked yes and nothing happened.  Then the entire Discussions site pretty much stopped functioning... I tried closing reopening Chrome.  I tried a completely new session in Chrome Incognito.  I tried using Safari.  None worked.
    I was then offered a survey to take.  I clicked "yes", and nothing happened.  Then I looked at the Javascript Link for the survey and used the Chrome console to send the javascript anyways.  And then it said the survey was behind my browser (it wasn't) and there was an "X" button to close the yellow notification at the top of the page.  Then restarted my computer and it's finally working, but my post is still being rejected, which is ridiculous.
    Anyways, went through alot to say something positive.  That is the exact thing that gets to me though, it's the censorship.  Why am I not allowed to say something good?  Hopefully this one goes through...

    I don't believe I'm circumventing any DRM/Copyright.  I'm currently enrolled in a Harvard eDx Copyright Law class. As long as you are original and offer a minimum of creativity, you are eligable for a copyright, without any need for registration.  But that's besides the point.  I can see how it may have flagged the post though.
    Ultimately, what I was trying to do at the time is play music using software that I own and stream this in online video.  But the comment about streaming my personal music online is just an example of something awesome I can do with an Apple product.
    Thanks for the link to the feedback page though.  I'll go ahead and send it in.

  • Can't write an email then include a pic!!!!!

    They really need to fix this!!! You can start at a photo and set it up in a new email, but you can't write an email or reply to an email and then attach a pic!!!!!

    Can't write an email then include a pic!!!!!
    Sure you can.
    Just drag it in.
    Perhaps I'm missing something here, but all I do is
    DRAG the JPG or other image into the open "new mail"
    message area, and it's embedded there.
    Works every time.
    I've also successfully used the "Attach File" button quite
    a few times as well.

  • You have included content in your post that is not permitted.

    I posted a question in the discussion and replied the response "You have included content in your post that is not permitted." I re-read my post. There was no swear word, no questions about doing anything illegal or violation any TOS, and no link that could cause a problem. So I started editing my post and I found the guilty word: "Streaming" and "Live" together (let's see if it goes through in this post).
    My suggestion is, instead of giving a broad statement, to actually list the words that are not permitted. This will save us time trying to figure out what offended the automated censor.

    Yep. That's the way of the world.
    I still think the filters could be more friendly. Taking, for example, the user's posting history into account.
    I would agree, but Jive, the software that these forums run on, may not allow that sort of flexibility. Or Apple Legal may not allow that sort of flexibility.

  • RequestDispatcher.include (Sorry for double-post)

    My apologies for the double-post, but the original subject was badly named.
    My goal is to process a JSP as an include, within a portlet, but not render it as part of the portlet page.
    With Tomcat and Struts I can perform an include and easily view the HTML that was generated via my HttpServletResponseWrapper. Here is some sample code:
    RequestDispatcher dispatcher = request.getRequestDispatcher("/portlets/test/test.jsp");
    if (dispatcher != null) {
    StringWrapper wrapper = new StringWrapper(response);
    dispatcher.include(request, wrapper);
    response.setContentType("text/html; charset=UTF-8");
    response.setHeader("Content-disposition", "attachment;filename=include.html");
    response.setHeader("Cache-Control,", "no-cache");
    PrintWriter pw = wrapper.getWriter();
    pw.write(wrapper.toString());
    pw.close();
    I'm calling this from a Struts DispatchAction that was initiated by a pageflow action so I do not have to return a forward. This has worked perfectly in the Tomcat environment and I'm trying to figure out a clean way to do the same under Weblogic.
    If Weblogic insists on rendering the entire response, I can deal with that, provided I have some way to get at and modify the HTML prior to leaving the DispatchAction method.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks.

    Your use case is not very clear to me -
    a. What do you mean by "but not render it as part of the portlet page"?
    Are you trying to render this with out the portal aggregating it? If so,
    you should use a redirect.
    b. Secondly, your sample code below may not work correctly (even in
    Tomcat). You are setting content-type, content-disposition etc after
    doing an include. You should be doing before, so that the headers will
    get written to it.
    My guess is that you are trying to provide a download link. The easiest
    way to accomplish this is to do it outside a portlet (like a stand-alone
    struts action), and just create a link to that from your portlet.
    HTH.

  • Including Profile info in posts

    Hi
    How do I include My Products details in posts - automatically preferably - without screenshot faff
    Regards
    Paul

    I appreciate your thinking but are all products relevant in all forums and some people have many, many Apple products which may make that list rather long.
    You might post this thought in the USING APPLE SUPPORT COMMUNITIES  forum.
    Ciao.

  • I have included content in my post that is not permitted.

    And what content might that be?
    I removed mention of F**mville and M**fia wars facebook apps and that fixed it. But I know I've seen far worse than than after clicking "quote original".

    Hi etresoft,
    We had a persistent re-occurring spammer that used the term M*fia in the posts. To stop them we added that term to the blocked word list.
    Hopefully it won't be needed too often here.

  • "You have included content in your post that is not permitted. "  Huh?

    I can't post a message, and am getting the above message. Why? There's nothing wrong or illicit with the simple message I'm trying to post.

    That's because I can't post the message to my other topic,
    "Mail not saving sent messages to AOL "sent items" folder"
    I just resorted to sending a personal messages to one of the responders.

  • Modified pics wont post to Myspace

    My wife has modified several of her pics that she has taken with her camera. It moves them to the modified folder and when she trys to upload them to myspace it wont let her even though they are still listed as being jpegs. She has no problem with the originals, just the modifieds. Funny thing is, some of the pics, all she did was rotate them, so she really didnt even change that much. We just bought this computer and we are totally new to anything Mac so any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
    This is a bug in the MySpace end of things but User Amy Stossel figured out a workaround:
    I have encountered the same problem in myspace but have figured out a workaround......
    go to your add/edit photos section but do not use the upload form provided
    -instead, look underneath the upload form that is there and click on the option that says "If you don't see the Upload Photo form above, click here"
    This will provide a different upload application and you can choose a photo from your iphoto library/modified photos or any other folder that you prefer.
    I have been doing this and it works great.
    -amy
    It should work for you.

  • Iphoto 6 shows only the last imported photos, doesn't include previous pics

    History- when I first got the computer I didn't understand how iPhoto accessed its photos, and deleted some of the content from the iPhoto folder directly - since then every once in a while I get a window that asks me to rebuild my cache - the apple employees at the genius bar told me that if I rebuilt my cache, that the thumbnails wouldn't match, and I could possibly loose photos. So I have not updated the cache in 4 years, and have not had any problems.
    Recently, my computer was slowing down, so I took it to the apple store and had them help me remove everything from the computer and placed onto an external drive, and then wiped the computer by reinstalling the system. Since then I have run iPhoto through my external hd, and did not replace ANYTHING onto the computer - everything is on the external hd. had no problems for a year. After this last upload(about a week ago) to iPhoto I noticed that it caused all previous photos (10,000+) to disappear - the only ones that were in the library were the ones I just uploaded.
    I then returned to the apple store and they used the option "create new library" to find the existing library.. but the computer was not even allowing the library file to be clicked on. So, for some reason the old photos are gone, and it wont allow the existing library to be chosen - yet there are still photos that it is accessing from that same library.
    Now when I open iPhoto, I get a message that says "In this version of iPhoto, the thumbnails have been improved. Upgrading the thumbnails will take a while, depending on the number of photos in your library. Do you want to upgrade your thumbnails now?"
    I am afraid that if I do this, it will cause the same problem of confusing the program, and not having the thumbnails match the iPhoto files, possibly causing me to loose photos.
    Is this message the reason why I can't access the old photos in the library? How would you suggest I go about correcting this problem in a way that I don't loose photos?

    I didn't understand how iPhoto accessed its photos, and deleted some of the content from the iPhoto folder directly
    This corrupted your library - b continuing to use a corrupted library you have continued the problem and it sounds like it finally has come in to bite you
    You can try using iPhoto Library Manager - http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/ - to rebuild your library - this creates a totally new library so if the results are not acceptable you can go back to what you have
    other than that you have no choice I am aware of except to start over - drag the iPhoto library to the desktop and launch iPhoto and create a new library - open the old corrupt iPhoto library and open the originals folder and drag each folder in it onto iPhoto recreating your rolls but losing all edits and other changes

  • New user - why won't some LANDSCAPE format pics open for editing?

    Help!! Having just returned to the wonderful world of the Mac after years away on a PC, I'm struggling to edit my photos and successfully comprehend the links between the original jpeg files I'm downloading and the thumbnails onscreen.
    I'm reasonably technical, a Photoshop user and don't understand why it is that I can't DOUBLE CLICK on a LANDSCAPE picture and edit it...
    For some reason, I can't even edit my landscape photos in iPhoto (which I'm resorting to as in a hurry with a particular project)....
    Is there some reason why LANDSCAPE pictures aren't appearing in iPhoto's EDIT window? It only display's portrait pictures - all the landscape pics are replaced with a grey window and an exclaimation mark '!'
    The pictures are still there, just WON'T OPEN in edit mode in either iPhoto or Photoshop when I double click them (and yes, I have set the Preferences to default edit in Photoshop).
    Can anyone help please?

    nixmax
    The important thing to remember is that iPhoto is not just an image viewer. It's a Photo Organiser, that is a database, with a built-in image viewer, lightweight editing and version control. Hence, photos must be imported, it's not enough that they are simply dropped into a folder.
    When you import and image into iPhoto, by default (tho you can change this) it is copied into the iPhoto Library Folder at Home/Pictures. The intention is that you will now use iPhoto for managing the files as well as displaying the pics. So once a pic is in iPhoto everything you need to do can be done via the iPhoto Window, including removing pics. In this (the default) scenario, once the photos have been imported to iPhoto you can discard your original files.
    Once in iPhoto, anything you do is done on a copy of the File. You can always revert to the Original.
    A Note about the iPhoto Library Folder:
    In this folder there are various files, which are the Library itself and some ancillary files. Then you have three folders
    Originals are the photos as they were downloaded from your camera or scanner.
    (ii) Modified contains edited pics, shots that you have cropped, rotated or changed in any way.
    This allows the Photos -> Revert to Original command - very useful if you don't like the changes you've made.
    (iii) Data holds the thumbnails the the app needs to show you the photos in the iPhoto Window.
    The thumbnail points to the most recent version of the pic, and if you want to reach the Original, use the Revert To Original command. This will remove the modified file. If you want to keep the Modified one, duplicate it, then use the Revert... command to create a new version.
    The standard warning: It is strongly advised that you do not move, change or in anyway alter things in the iPhoto Library Folder as this can cause the application to fail and even lead to data loss
    However, there is no real reason to go into the iPhoto Library Folder. If you want to accessa file there are three ways (at least) to get files from the iPhoto Window.
    1. Drag and Drop: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
    2. File -> Export: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size.
    3. Show File: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.
    Only you can decide if you should preservere. It's not that difficult, more a conceptual leap than a huge learning curve. Hopefully the above will help, and if it doesn't, by all means post again.

  • I got this recommendation on a question I posted, is this safe?

    Whenver I google anything I get tons of results for "blinkx" (see pictures) and there are ads that popup constantly (see pictures), I got the recommendation below...is it safe?
    1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem.
    2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
    3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. All it does is to collect information about the state of the computer. That information goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. However, you should be cautious about running any kind of program (not just a shell script) at the request of a stranger on a public message board. If you have doubts, search this site for other discussions in which this procedure has been followed without any report of ill effects. If you can't satisfy yourself that the instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
    Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed: Copy a line of text from this web page into the window of another application. Wait for the script to run. It usually takes a few minutes. Then paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page. The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. Details follow.
    4. You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken in “normal” mode. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
    5. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply. Don't log in as root.
    6. The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in the browser window, and you can then copy it. If you try to select the line by dragging across the part you can see, you won't get all of it.
    Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:

    Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
    7. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    ☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
    Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste (command-V). The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
    8. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "syntax error," enter
    exec bash
    and press return. Then paste the script again.
    9. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, press the key combination control-C or just press returnthree times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
    If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
    10. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line
    [Process completed]
    to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report the results. No harm will be done.
    11. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-Vagain.
    If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
    12. When you post the results, you might see the message, "You have included content in your post that is not permitted." It means that the forum software has misidentified something in the post as a violation of the rules. If that happens, please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.
    Note: This is a public forum, and others may give you advice based on the results of the test. They speak only for themselves, and I don't necessarily agree with them.

    As stated in 1.:
    1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem.
    Obviously, it will not harm your computer provided you follow the instructions. However, if you don't post your results in the thread where you were given those instructions, then the person helping you cannot help you further. As he asks at the end, "please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created."

    Hi,
    It really helps us help you when you identify your notebook with its complete product name or product number and include it in a post in you thread..
    Remove the battery and look in the compartment where the battery was installed. You should see a printed part number and a product name (p/n). Post one or both of them (with all alphanumeric characters here).
