"Include All Subfolders" box in Batch process dialog

Mac quad G5, 4G Ram, 4 internal drives, OS 10.4.11, Photoshop CS3 Extended 10.0.1, ACR 4.4
Selecting the "Include All Subfolders" box seems not to process any folders contained within the currently selected Bridge window. All selected files process as usual.
A current job for John Deere requires that all images be sorted by machine model number---and now I want to make previews for the client.
I have never used this option before ("Include All Subfolders"). Is there a trick to it? TIA, kl

:)
thanks Omkebut time is precious! Much better results from the power users like yourself!
I frankly find it hard to believe that this selectable optionthere in Batch processing since the beginning, AFAIK, does not workand that it is not more frequently asked for. As a working photographer, now that I have switched from Capture One to ACR, I am finding that I would really like to be able to work this way.
It's just curious that I could not find a single reference to this problem anywhere on these Forums. Anyhow.
Does your suggestion (accessing Batch from CSPS instead of Bridge) allow subfolder processing? cheers, KL

    is there a way to publish a collection set including all subfolders as a smart publishing service 1) to the hard drive and 2) to flickr while also automatically creating all subfolders? i manage to do this only with collections, but not with the partent collection set.

    It's not AIR that's lacking the key in the plist, it must be Flash Pro, although it's just running adt itself. I use AIR 3.4 and I compile via adt command line (because Flash Builder 4.6 still has not been updated to handle warnings from ANEs during compile, grr). I have CFBundleDisplayName in my plist file. Have you tried compiling on the command line?
    Here's an Adobe page with a bunch of examples compiling with ADT on the command line:
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/air/build/WS901d38e593cd1bac1e63e3d128cdca935b-8000.html
    Being unaware of what in-house distribution system that actually is, I have noted that some people had previous issues submitting apps Flash compiles. Their solution was to rename the AppName.ipa to AppName.zip, extract the Payload folder, copy the AppName.app inside there out, then rename that AppName.app to AppName.ipa. Then it was accepted. Not sure if that old issue still exists.

  • Batch processing from Bridge: including "Subfolders"

    I posted in the Camera Raw forum on this, but thought it would not hurt to re-post here.
    Context: Mac quad G5, 4G Ram, 4 internal drives, OS 10.4.11, Photoshop CS3 Extended 10.0.1, ACR 4.4, Bridge 2.1.1.9
    Checking the "Include All Subfolders" box seems not to process any folders contained within the currently selected Bridge window. All selected files, other than the subfolders, process as usual.
    Some jobs require that images be sorted by machine or model number, and into folders. Now I want to make previews for the client.
    I had never used this option before ("Include All Subfolders"). Is there a trick to it? TIA, kl
    Omke suggested Batching from CSPS, and Ramón suggested Dr Brown's 1-2-3 Processor. it's good, to be sure, but it has no option to check subfolders, and selecting a folder that contains images and subfolders is not permitted.
    TIA, KL

    Thanks, Omke; ignore that Q. I posted on the "Features" thread.
    I just ran a quick test on Dr Brown's 1-2-3, but selecting it via "Scripts"; amazingly, the "Include subfolders" check box appears.
    The only part that does not seem to work is that the results of the processing seem to be in one folder only (rather than the processing following the folder structure of the folders, or, in the case of using 1-2-3 from Bridge, TIFFs appearing in one folder marked "TIFFs" and JPEGS in their own folder).
    Not a big problem, but if there is a way to reproduce the folder structure of the *Source* files and subsolders, I will be 100% happy!
    Cheers, kl

  • Batch Processing problem with Directories

    Hi All!
    I am having a problem recording an action for Batch Resizing/Optimizing a large number of Photos.
    What I want is to resize about a 1000+ photos, all optimized, but there is a catch!
    they are all in separate directories(also in the hundreds!), and as I am delivering them to separate Clients, I would need to preserve the same directory structure after resizing/optimizing, IE its laid out like this:
    John's Folder - 50 Photos
    Jane's Folder - 120 Photos
    Joe's Folder - 75 Photos
    David's Folder - 50 Photos
    IE: I cant choose "Save Optimized" and 'include sub directories' and then have the Action output them into a Common directory as that would obviously loose the directory structure, and i would have no way of tracking which photo belonged to whom.
    (as Image names are all 'Camera' filenames, ie 013121012.jpg, so I cant use that to identify the different Photo-sets as most of the photos were taken on the same day.)
    What I came up with so far was to:
    Duplicate all files and the Directory structure as it is, and try to write an action that after processing would just 'Save' and Overwrite files as they are. (IE Resize/Optimize, then save/overwrite all photos and then choose 'Include all Subfolders )
    Problem is I cant 'Save Optimized' and overwrite the original file! I couldn't even find a way to set 'Compression settings' for Jpg when I am using the 'SAVE' dialog(that would automatically overwrite the original files). The Jpeg Compression only pops up with 'Save As', but then again that is not useful for overwriting the same file.
    Any ideas??
    Thanks!
    PS: I am using Photoshop CS3.

    : PS: I have a GnuJSP solution which deals with such directories.
    The JSP specification doesn't define the mapping used by a JSP
    engine to generate a Java package.className from a given
    request.
    Oracle JSP takes a simple approach (for a variety of reasons).
    Rather then generating a munged/random name, Oracle JSP uses the
    full path information in the request. The path information
    generates the package name while the classname comes from the
    target. As virtual paths within a host are unique this works.
    Unfortunately, you have encountered the one limitation of this
    approach, namely VP names can contain names that are invalid Java
    package or classnames. Names that are all numbers is one case.
    Java reserved words is another. Currently, the only way to avoid
    this is to change the VP you use to access the JSP so its path
    name and target only includes valid Java (package/class) names.

  • Why do I need to use GIMP to batch process?

    Dear Adobe,
    I'm grinding through thousands of display and template images for an online retailer. Photoshop layering and masks came in quite handy when I was making the templates
    but now that it's got down to reusing those templates, I have to look elsewhere.
    1 Why does every other piece of software on the market have a batch processing section, and yet you hide yours?
    2. Why does Image Processor refuse to resize both horizontal and vertical, although it claims to? It actually refuses to distort the image to resize, which I actually want it to do. I had
    to download GIMP to get this capability, as well as to specify the output file and change the dpi. These are all included in GIMP but not Pshop. Thanks for that. And don't tell
    me to go to Actions. THat may be useful for something things, but it's hardly the optimal way to do it, recording your exact actions, and then saving or not saving, and then
    seeing what happens. The way I wanted it was in GIMP, and its pathetic that 20 years in, Pshop still doesnt have a credible batch processor, or tell me where it is now.
    Charge extra for that perhaps?
    3.What has changed in Bridge CS6 since CS4? I see absolutely nothing different, but then output is still limited to PDF and 'WEB GALLERY' a dysfunctional glob
    of code bested easily by jquery, but maybe you've impoved that end. My last experience with web gallery was so dysfunctional that I'll just stick to fixing what's
    under the hood myself. I mean web gallery used to be flash, then something else that's not current. Let's just agree its a hobbyist option. Of course,
    I don't know why 'output' might include other options for the batch processing of files, since batch rename does actually work, but you guys are the deciders.
    4. Its too bad. This job has taught me a lot of new stuff about layering, masks, and the functionality of the pattern section, which I have no great qualms with, though,
    considering how many companies you've bought, you could include tons of patterning capabilities that used to exist in these programs, but that would be too much
    expenditure from MGMT. Maybe let's just fix the window views we broke in CS4, and call it a new version.
    5. Thanks for forcing me to discover GIMP, who dont ask a thing. I dont really like being in there yet, but we'll see if that changes with time. They actually have some
    different filters and rendering options that Adobe could've included years ago for gun, but again, there's just not enough money to go around at Adobe.

    Thanks for both of you proving both that the function doesnt exist.
    When the Image Processor resizes image it used the Photoshop Plug-in Fit Image to do the resize.  Both height and width are resized and the image aspect ratio is preserved so the image is not distorted.  That means the image will fit within the height and width  used in the dialog.  Only image with the same aspect ratio will fill the area.  It sounds to me like you want the image the size id the height and width you entered in the dialog.  In which case you need to use Photoshop features the can accomplish that.  If you do not care the the image is distorted you use Image size check resample uncheck constrain as set the height and width you want to resize to.  If you do not want to much distortion you can try content aware resize. That will still distort the image some what but try to maintain some areas perspective it finds object in.  You can also help that process by selecting areas.  If You want no distortion you need to resize the image to fill the area and mask off  the excess to virtually crop the image the the areas aspect ratio. To automate that you need to use some Photoshop scripting. Knowledge is required to get the most out of Programs like Gimp and Photoshop.  The function doesn't exist because of your lack of knowledge.

  • Batch Processing Multiple Folders Question...

    Hi,
    I process multiple folders full of images using the "Include All SubFolders" option under File->Automate-Batch.
    It works flawlessly when all the folders I need to process are under the same folder. Example:
    /images/folder_a
    /images/folder_b
    /images/folder_c
    I am wondering if there is a way to nominate multiple folders that are NOT all in the same folder (so I can fire off a batch process over night).
    Example:
    /images/folder_a
    /temp/folder_b
    /photos/folder_c
    Is there any way to use my action as a Batch Process for these at the same time (without moving the images, or folders)?
    (PS CS3 10.0.1, OSX 10.5.5, JS for Scripts)
    Thanks,
    Matt

    What about folder actions: you should need a script that runs a PS action on all images in the current folder (and embedded subfolders) only. Then you should be able to use folder actions to launch the script, which runs the action.
    Not like I've done this, but...
    You might also look into automator. If you can build the action in PS (which it seems you can), either of these two features might help with the rest.

  • Batch processing - sequential actions (CS5)

    I would appreciate any help for the following scenario as no internet search has been useful so far.
    I need to batch process a set of folders, each with subfolders inside, and each subfolder with 3 images as follows:
    -TWG 1
      - subfolder 1
         - green 1.tif
         - blue 1.tif
         - red 1
      - subfolder 2
         - green 2.tif
         - blue 2.tif
         - red 2.tif
      - subfolder 3 .....
    - TWG 2....
    - TWG 3....
    My goal is to take green 1, blue 1, red 1 and combine them into a single image placing each into the respective color channels.
    Combo 1.tiff = red channel (image from red 1), blue channel (blue 1), green channel (green 1)
    I have already created 2 actions as follows:
    Action 1 - autocontrast each image - purpose is to open all 3 images using batch processing and leave them open for action 2
    Action 2 - combine the 3 open files into a single combo.tif and closes all files leaving no files opened
    My questions are as follows:
    1) Is it possible to batch process a folder that opens all images prior to proceeding through the action? This would allow me to open the 3 files in each subfolder and process them all together, skipping action 1 that I already created
    2) Is there a way to automate a batch such that sequential actions are used? For example A) batch is processed through action 1 first, and then B) action 2 kicks after all 3 pics have already been opened from action 1
    3) Can I automate this entire process for the parent folder of everything? (Pictures/TWG1-9/subfolders1-9/green1, red1, blue1)
    I appreciate any help or advice in this matter.
    Thanks.

    You'll probably have to use a script if you want to automate things at the high level of being able to traverse multiple folders.  I'm no scripting expert, but I know there are a lot of them about, especially here:

  • Unattended batch processing

    I have a JavaScript batch sequence. I set it to run on a folder, which contains a tree of folders. I click Run Sequence and OK. Then, for each folder in the tree, the JavaScript Editor appears and I must click the OK button. Of course, I dont want that. I want to click OK once and have the batch sequence run on the whole tree without having to click OK for each folder, like a real batch program. Please advise. It works fine otherwise.

    Hi Bradley,
    I believe you can also change a Batch preferences to keep this prompt from displaying. An explanation can be found at the following weblink:
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Acrobat/8.0/Professional/help.html?content=WS58a04a822e3e50102 bd615109794195ff-7c52.html
    To prevent this dialog box from appearing in the future: In the Preferences dialog box under Batch Processing, deselect Show The Run Sequence Confirmation Dialog.
    Hope that helps.

  • Random Error in Batch Processing

    Hi All,
    I have a batch process that reads records from DB, pass them to Mediator which calls a BPEL process. During a huge batch processing of 10000 records, we are getting errors in random fashion as under. This error is not specific to a particular record because on the second run with same records exception is seen for some different records. The instance is seen as faulted in the EM console.

  • Batch processing - How to Bates Number?

    I have an adobe file that is apparently created from a batch sequence.  The file contains several hundred emails and some of the emails have attachments.  Is it possible to create a new file with all of the emails and their attachements opened so that I can bates number each page?  If so, where can I find instructions?

    Binding can be configured using the "eclipselink.jdbc.bind-parameters" property, and is on by default - it should be on for jdbc batch writing.
    Batch writing defaults to 100 statements, so I am not sure why it would include all statements in one batch unless it is not batching at all. If you set the logs to finest or all it should print of the values it is using for each property, and also show the SQL and statments it is executing. Can you turn on logging and post portions of the logs, particularly the part showing the transaction in question (though maybe only 6 lines of consecutive inserts).
    Logging is controlled through the "eclipselink.logging.level" properties.
    Best Regards,
    Chris

  • AutoTrim & Include Subfolders From A Folder & Preserve Subfolder Structure & Auto Shut Down Computer - ALL In Batch Processing Mode And Match Volume Mode ?

    Hi! I salute you all!
    First of all I want to excuse my english (it's not my native language)!
    In 2014 we are dealing with thousands of files (video, audio, etc.), because of the present powerful technology, still... we are missing very important and useful parts for doing our jobs properly and very quickly!
    In this case is Adobe Audition too, in my oppinion!
    Adobe Audition is a great program, which help us to edit in many ways our audio files, but... unfortunatelly has major missing parts, which would be nice to be implemented as soon as possible!
    Some of them are are right below this line:
    1. AutoTrim (for removing silences from audio files, before and after)
    2. Include Subfolders From A Folder (when adding a folder for working with, we should have the possibillity to add its subfolders too)
    3. Preserve Subfolder Structure (when exporting a folder with its all subfolders, we should have the possibillity to export the exact structure like the original)
    4. Auto Shut Down Computer (when all the tasks/jobs are done, we should be able to auto close the program and auto shut down our desktop/laptop as well)
    When you will add these features which are so wanted, to have them all in Batch Processing mode and Match Volume mode as well, please?!
    Many other audio softwares have all of these "old" possibillities, like "GoldWave" for instance (I am not advertising it at all), but the Adobe Audition which is more complex...doesn't so far!
    I thank you all and I really wait for these very next future feature requests!
    Have a nice day!
    P.S.: Is this message/question read by Adobe stuff members (persons who can take decissions in this way) too, or only by us, the comunity members?!

  • Complicated question: dialog box-batch processing script

    I am adapting the working script I found on this forum.
    Script: Open files as layers in Photoshop
    https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1313579
    The goal of the adaptation is to include a javascript Folder dialog to set the save folder destination at run time and
    use this folder destination for the remaining script batch processing functions.
    Presently, the script loads a Bridge stack as Photoshop layers and saves the layered tiff using the Folder dialog.
    The folder dialog is manifesting every time the script encounters a Bridge stack.
    The question is what is the correct script logic to set the destination folder once at run time and keep this destination
    folder for the stack batch processing.
    #target bridge
    var stacks = app.document.stacks;
    var stackCount = stacks.length;
    for(var s = 0;s<stackCount;s++){
          var stackFiles = getStackFiles( stacks[s] );
          if(stackFiles.length> 1){
               var bt = new BridgeTalk;
               bt.target = "photoshop";
               var myScript = ("var ftn = " + psRemote.toSource() + "; ftn("+stackFiles.toSource()+");");
               bt.body = myScript;
               bt.send(5);
    function getStackFiles( stack ){
          var files = new Array();
          for( var f = 0; f<stack.thumbnails.length;f++){
               files.push(stack.thumbnails[f].spec);
          return files;
    function psRemote(stackFiles){
    app.bringToFront();
    var thisDoc = open(File(stackFiles[0]));
    var Name = decodeURI(app.activeDocument.name).slice(0,-4);
    thisDoc.layers[0].name = decodeURI(Name);
    for(var a = 1;a<stackFiles.length;a++){
        open(File(stackFiles[a]));
        Name = decodeURI(app.activeDocument.name).slice(0,-4);
        activeDocument.activeLayer.duplicate(thisDoc);
        app.activeDocument.close(SaveOptions.DONOTSAVECHANGES);
        thisDoc.layers[0].name = Name;
    var tifOptions = new TiffSaveOptions();
    tifOptions = new TiffSaveOptions();
    tifOptions.embedColorProfile = true;
    tifOptions.imageCompression = TIFFEncoding.TIFFLZW;
    tifOptions.alphaChannels = false;
    tifOptions.byteOrder = ByteOrder.MACOS;
    tifOptions.layers = true;
    var theFolder = Folder.selectDialog ("Select Folder");
    if (theFolder) {
            var myFile = new File( theFolder + "/" + app.activeDocument.name);
            app.activeDocument.saveAs(myFile, tifOptions, true);
    app.activeDocument.close(SaveOptions.DONOTSAVECHANGES);

    I am thinking the Folder dialog is not correct for this application.
    On a second thought a persistent dialog to set the save folder path and run the script from the persistent dialog can make sense.
    Any ideas?
