"Include Attachments" option in Mail Save As... Dialog doesn't work

Back in the day (Lion) the "Include Attachments" check box in the Mail Save As... dialog used to save mail attachments along with the text as .RTFD.  Sometime in the past this changed, and now (Mavericks) the only affect of checking that box is that the extension of the saved file changes from .RTF to .RTFD, but the saved file remains identical, with only the text and no attachments.  Surely this is a bug.  Is there now any way to save an email as RTFD with the attachments?
I'm bringing this up again since the previous thread on the subject was archived back in 2012 without any comprehension.  Time for a revisit.

    junk mail filter in yosemite doesn't work. from the flags, i can't find the 'mark as junk' selection. Formerly clicking on the email address in question would allow one to 'remove from previous recipients' which would help to filter out spam. I've adjusted all the settings under mail preferences, but that is not helping.

    Hello Diane162,
    Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
    I understand that you would like to be able to filter some of the junk mail that you are receiving in Mail. The attached article has a lot of great information on junk mail filtering, including how to mark as junk and adjust the junk filter.

    I lost an Iphone 5 and got a new one on the next day by mail but it still doesn't work, what I need to do to activate the phone?

        Let's ensure we get this new device up and running, 123Vika. I know the importance of having a functional device. I have some great news you can activate the device directly from My Verizon. Take a look; http://vz.to/1gdvahs

  • I've changed my ID mail and now iCloud doesn't work on iPhone

    I've changed my ID mail and now iCloud doesn't work. Everything is working, even if I access to iCloud from Safari (with my new ID) but i have the problem on my iPhone and iPad.
    It keeps asking my password and the mail is the one i had before, it's like it didn't change. I've tried both passwords, old and new and no solution. I've changed twice the password thinking it would be the problem and still isn't working.
    So now I can't do anything because there's no password to access so i can't even delete my iCloud account.
    Is there anything i can do to make it work? It's weird that everything works except this.
    Thanks
    P.S.: Sorry for my english, it's not very good.

    Alright, please follow these steps in order to get it working properly again.
    Please change your Apple ID back to your old email address (that you used as Apple ID before) here: http://appleid.apple.com
    Then go to all your devices - iPhones, iPads, Mac etc. - ("Settings > iCloud") and delete your iCloud account from this devices (+ turn off Find My iPhone, but I guess it will ask you that anyway)
    After that go back to http://appleid.apple.com sign in again, and now change your Apple ID again to your new email address.
    Finally, set up your iCloud account on all your devices again.
    Now, everything should working properly again.

  • Include Attachments Option with E-Mail Notifications

    Under Options > E-Mail Notifications in addtion to "include submitted data" and "include empty fields" it would be nice to have a check option for "include attachments."
    We have clients who occasionally attach photos to our forms.  It would streamline productivity to have the option to receive the attachment via the e-mail notification instead of a requirement to log in to forms central and download the file seperately.
    Thank you.

    For some reason, the system won't let me create a new Idea.  I've tried submitting a few times and I get the following error message when I try to submit:
    "It appears you're not allowed to view what you requested. You might contact your administrator if you think this is a mistake."
    I have submitted ideas in the past, I'm not sure why I can't now.
    Thanks,

  • Including attachments from PDF in Save as Draft and Submit as XDP

    When I wrote the first large process years ago, I ran into the problem of saving attachments that are in the PDF. If you ask the question, the response will be that you have to submit as PDF. That in turn has it's own other problems which when trying to solve, the answer given is "That is because you are submitting as a PDF". I have seen many ask the same thing I wanted: Submit as XDP, but include the attachments. This also includes that the built in Save Draft save them too.
    The summary is this: Loop through the attachments in JavaScript, Base64 encode them and stick them into the DOM. On the server side, use a script step to loop through and create a map of document objects to pass to the next render.
    The following needs to be called from a preSubmit event passing event.target. You'll need to add the nodes referenced to your schema.
    function embedAttachments(oParent) {
        // Get the list of attachments
        var oDataObjects = oParent.dataObjects;
        //app.alert(oDataObjects);
        var rootNode = xfa.datasets.data.resolveNode("[Your Data Root Node]");
        var oAttachData = rootNode.nodes.namedItem("FileAttachments");
        var oldNodes = oAttachData.nodes;
        //wipe out empty nodes
        while (oldNodes.length != 0) {
          oldNodes.remove(oAttachData.nodes.item(0));
        if (oDataObjects != null) {
          var count = oDataObjects.length;
          if (count > 0) {
              // Loop through all the attachments
              for (var i = 0; i < count; i++) {
                // Grab the next attachment
                var oFile = oParent.getDataObjectContents(oDataObjects[i].name);
                  // Get a new stream with the image encoded as base64
                var vEncodedStream = Net.streamEncode(oFile, "base64");
                // Get a string from the stream
                var sBase64 = util.stringFromStream(vEncodedStream);
                  //console.println(sBase64);
                  // Copy the data to the XML
                var oNewNode = xfa.datasets.createNode("dataGroup", "FileAttachment");
                oAttachData.nodes.append(oNewNode);
                var oName = xfa.datasets.createNode("dataValue", "FileName");
                var oDesc = xfa.datasets.createNode("dataValue", "FileDesc");
                var oData = xfa.datasets.createNode("dataValue", "Base64Data");
                oName.value = oDataObjects[i].path;
                oDesc.value = oDataObjects[i].description;
                oData.value = sBase64;
                oNewNode.nodes.append(oName);
                oNewNode.nodes.append(oDesc);
                oNewNode.nodes.append(oData);
    It also needs to be called from ContainerFoundation_JS in the form bridge.
    Add this variable:
    var thisDoc = null;
    Add this line of code at the top of RegisterMessageHandler:
        thisDoc = event.target;
    Add this line of code to the top of getData function:
    xfa.form.[Root Node].[Script Object].embedAttachments(thisDoc);
    Here is the Java code to add to a script object. I put mine in a custom render.
    import java.util.HashMap;
    import java.util.*;
    import org.w3c.dom.*;
    import com.adobe.idp.Document;
    import org.apache.commons.codec.binary.Base64;
    int count = 0;
    Map attachmentMap = new HashMap();
    Node ndAttach = patExecContext.getProcessDataValue("/process_data/xmlData/Formdata/FileAttachments");
    if (ndAttach != null) {
        NodeList children = ndAttach.getChildNodes();
        if (children != null) {
            count = children.getLength();
    for (int i = 1; i <= count; i++){
        String name = patExecContext.getProcessDataStringValue("/process_data/xmlData/Formdata/FileAttachments/ FileAttachment[" + i + "]/FileName");
        String desc = patExecContext.getProcessDataStringValue("/process_data/xmlData/Formdata/FileAttachments/ FileAttachment[" + i + "]/FileDesc");
        String b64Data = patExecContext.getProcessDataStringValue("/process_data/xmlData/Formdata/FileAttachments/ FileAttachment[" + i + "]/Base64Data");
        if (b64Data != null && b64Data.length() != 0) {
            Document attDoc = new Document((new Base64()).decode(b64Data.getBytes()));
            attDoc.setAttribute("basename", name);
            attDoc.setAttribute("description", desc);
            attDoc.setAttribute("wsPermission", "1");
            attDoc.passivate();
            attachmentMap.put(name, attDoc);
    patExecContext.setProcessDataMapValue("/process_data/mapAttachments", attachmentMap);
    After I wrote that, I realized there is a method to create a document from Base64. Since I can inspect the map during record and play back and see that the documents are stored Base64, I think I could speed up the process by changing to the other method. I am assuming it would prevent a decode then encode. This same technique might also be applied to annotations.

    Revised Execute script. Server was running out of heap space with large attachments. Creating the Document objects as temp files instead of in memory solves that. I also added the part that wipes the Base64 Attachments out of the XML.
            int count = 0;
            Map attachmentMap = new HashMap();
            String name="";
            String b64Data="";
            File tempFile=null;
            FileOutputStream outStream=null;
            Document attDoc=null;
            int i=0;
            Node ndAttach = (Node) patExecContext.getProcessDataValue("/process_data/xmlData/Formdata/FileAttachments");
            NodeList children;
            Node childNode = null;
            if (ndAttach != null) {
                children = ndAttach.getChildNodes();
                if (children != null) {
                    childNode = children.item(i);
                    if (childNode instanceof Element) {
                        System.out.println("tag name: " + ((Element)childNode).getTagName());
                    count = children.getLength();
            for (i = 1; i <= count; i++){
                b64Data = patExecContext.getProcessDataStringValue("/process_data/xmlData/Formdata/FileAttachments/FileAttachment[" + i + "]/Base64Data");
                if (b64Data != null && b64Data.length() != 0) {
                    name = patExecContext.getProcessDataStringValue("/process_data/xmlData/Formdata/FileAttachments/FileAttachment[" + i + "]/FileName");
                    tempFile = File.createTempFile("Attachment", ".tmp");
                    outStream = new FileOutputStream(tempFile);
                    outStream.write(Base64.decodeBase64(b64Data.getBytes()));
                    outStream.close();
                    attDoc = new Document(tempFile, true);

    I can't do a "save as" or "save for web" in photoshop cs3. The dialog box opens and I can't change anything but the file type pull down menu (and sometimes not even that). This problem happens sporadically.... but most of the time it doesn't work.
    I have re-installed Photoshop cs3 but I still have the same problem.
    Photoshop CS3 10.0.1
    MacPro 2 x 3 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
    Memory : 4GB
    Mac OS 10.5.8
    Please Help

    I'm seeing exactly this same problem with Photoshop CS3  after the upgrade to 10.5.8. It appears that the dialog box never gets focus for "Save for Web and Devices" -- the title bar of the dialog is grayed out, while the main "Save for Web and Devices" panel still has focus.  That means there's no way to clear the dialog, since the panel is waiting for it to return, but the dialog can't get any input.  None of the standard resets work for any length of time.  I seem to remember similar problems in a much earlier release of Mac OS X, but I can't be sure.  Quite annoying.

    Kind regards

    We've had all kinds of issues with this.  If your user isn't a LOCAL ADMIN (and they shoudln't be) on the computer and the web browser is Internet Explorer, and the site has protected mode = ON in IE, and you have "display PDF in browser" enabled, you can kiss mouse wheel support, saving PDF's and some other things goodbye.  It seems to be a permissions issue when you start to resrtict what the user and user mode applications can do.
    If you disable the "display PDF in browser" option it works, but this breaks the DDE scripts on some websites.
    If you make the user an ADMIN on the workstation, it works, but that is stupid and we shouldn't have to do that.
    If you make the site a trusted site, or disable internet explorer sandboxing by eliminating protected mode support, it works, but again that is stupid - you shoudln't have to trust every site you want to print/save a stupid PDF from.  And besides, Adobe even thinks sandboxing is important, they just implemented protected mode support.  We shoudln't have to disable it in another product to get this one to work!
    Really hoping that someone at Adobe will get a clue and start making something that works with corporate machines that have limited user rights, and UNC path folder redirection and roaming profiles, and print drivers that need to be used to render the document to print correctly and etc...

  • Mail and Address Book doesn't work together!!!

    Since I converted addresses from Filemaker 7 to Address Book, the automatic fill in, in Mail doesn't work anymore.
    The option: "fill in address automaticly" is active in the preference menu in Mail.
    The problem feels not consequent, this means; some of the addresses are shown up in mail, others don't. I cannot find out where to search for the problem.
    Who knows which file I can delete or any other solutions?????

    You can check by dragging ~(YourHome)/Library/Preferences/com.apple.AddressBook.plist to the desktop. Then relaunch AddressBook.
    You could do the same with "com.apple.Mail.plist" but it contains all email account settings and general mail preferences, so you will have to set up your account info again.
    Also you might try deleting ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.AddressBook.

  • HT1338 On macbook MAIL the search function doesn't work?

    On my macbook retina pro with latest updated softwares the search function in "MAIL" doesnt work. It is supposed to be pretty simple fucntion and on my iphone and othe rmail programs it works fine. However once i type anything in "Search bar" at top right then inbox goes empty and nothing appears. Whereas the search bar gives options of sveral email names etc, even if i select one. It doesn't work.
    Pls help. best regards. NA

    Which search function do you mean?
    *searching via the location bar (pref: keyword.URL)
    *search bar on the Navigation Toolbar
    *search bar on the about:home page (pref: browser.search.defaultenginename)
    *other search bar (e.g. added by extension)
    Is this about the about:home page?
    If there is a problem with searching via the default about:home page then try to reset the search engine used on the about:home page.
    Reset the <b>browser.startup.homepage_override.mstone</b> pref via the right-click context menu to the default on the <b>about:config</b> page and close and restart Firefox to restore the about:home page to its default.
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/about:config
    #Open the <b>about:config</b> page via the location bar
    #Type in the Filter bar: mstone
    #Right-click the browser.startup.homepage_override.mstone line and select: Reset
    #Close and restart Firefox
    If this didn't help then delete the delete the chromeappsstore.sqlite file in the Firefox Profile Folder and repeat the above.
    You can use the SearchReset extension to reset some preferences to the default values.
    *https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/searchreset/
    Note that the SearchReset extension only runs once and then uninstalls automatically, so it won't show on the "Firefox > Add-ons" page (about:addons).

              It will boot slowly.  Be patient.
              Login the the user account.
              Restart.
    Another fix:
    Shut down Mail.
    Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder

  • Page Setup dialog doesn't work

    Hi everyone
    My generic Page Setup dialog box as e.g. used for Word etc. doesn't work:
    In the Page Setup dialog, the "Setting" menu doesn't work at all, i.e. I can see the dropdown but it doesn't accept my changes (it's fixed on "Page Settings"). All other menus or choices are accepted but then the "OK" button doesn't work; it just flickers briefly and then goes back to blue. The "Cancel" button makes all contents of the dialog box disappear except for the frame and the buttons. Either way force quitting and relaunching the application is the only way to continue working in the application.
    What could be the issue here?
    A few specs on my hardware, printer and system:
    - MacBook Pro (brand new)
    - OS X 10.5.5
    - Printers: hp LaserJet 4200 (main printer), iP5200R, OKI B6200, Lexmark E321. All these printers I used without problems with my old PowerBook G4.
    The problem occurs with all applications using this generic Page Setup dialog, such as Word, Grab etc. In Excel e.g. all these functions work (it uses a different kind of dialog box for the page setup).
    The problem could possibly have started to occur when the Lexmark printer could not be installed automatically so I assigned it another Lexmark driver, which seemed to work. But I'm not sure whether those two problems occurred at the same time.
    What I tried already:
    - uninstall and reinstall all printers in the Print & Fax part of the System Preferences. I uninstalled all printers and (without restart) reinstalled the hp printer only. The problem was still there, even upon restart.
    - reinstall Word (first I thought it was a Word problem)
    Any ideas??

    Hi,
    Try to increase the size of repeating frame, as I follow this strategy in my report find the outermost repeating frame and increase its size to whole page than increase the size of your required repeating frame if you want to break page on this group, no need to set max record and page break properties(as I saw page break property never works).
    Thanks.

  • Mail.app redirect script doesn't work

    I'm trying to script a batch process to redirect selected messages in the Mail application. I found a nifty script on macosxhints.com--only one problem: it doesn't work with 10.4's Mail.
    The script fails ("variable is undefined") when trying to get the result of:
    redirect message with opening window
    According the the Mail dictionary, redirect should return an "outgoing message". Instead it appears to be undefined, and I can't figure out how to manipulate the newly created message to change the recipient, sender, etc.
    Any ideas?

    has anyone gotten this script to work with 10.4.6?
