Including a 'shape' on an image

As a beginner with Elements, could use some step by step instructions for adding a 'shape' from the shape icon to a document, i.e., an arrow to a list of names to identify certain individuals. Is it possible with Elements 2?

  • How to create a shape based on the shape of an image

I want to erase a portion of a mask based on the shape of an image. how can i do this? btw how to create a circle? thx

Both your questions leave room for imagining what you might really mean, but here's a shot at answering them.
If you have a mask that you want to erase portions of based on an image... assuming the mask is a simple rectangle you drew with the rectangle tool, change the opacity of the rectangle's fill in the color panel to make it see-thru, place the mask over the image, and using the eraser tool, erase the portions of the mask that you do not intend to retain using the image below it as a guide.
As for drawing a circle, hover over the rectangle tool and a menu should appear.  Select the oval/ellipse tool.  To draw a circle, hold down the shift key and draw just as you did for the rectangle.  The shift key forces it to retain equal width and height.

  • How to draw 2D shapes on the image generated by JMF MediaPlayer?

    Hello all:
IS there any way that we can draw 2D shapes on the image generated by JMF
    MediaPlayer?
I am currently working on a project which should draw 2D shapes(rectangle, circle etc) to
mark the interesting part of image generated by JMF MediaPlayer.
The software is supposed to work as follows:
1> first use will open a mpg file and use JMF MediaPlayer to play this video
2> if the user finds some interesting image on the video, he will pause the video
and draw a circle to mark the interesting part on that image.
I know how to draw a 2D shapes on JPanel, however, I have no idea how I can
draw them on the Mediaplayer Screen.
What technique I should learn to implement this software?
    any comments are welcome.

    If anyone can help?!

  • Making the icon shape match the image

So I have an image I want to use as an icon for a folder.  I basically want the icon to appear just as the shape of the image, with the background coming through the surrounding, i.e. the W in the Word icon. Currently when I paste the image to the folder as an icon image, it is surrounded by a white box (the background).
I've through several searches, have made the background transparent in Photoshop, exported as a png, have reopened in Preview and have had no background showing.  Unfortunately when I attach it to the folder it is still bound with a white box when displayed as the icon, SL puts the white background back in.
Any help, or links to examples I can use to fix this?

    Mac OS X (10.6.4)
Use Software Update or the OS 10.6.8 combo update to update your OS.  Also, update everything SU has to offer for your computer.  When done, repair permissions and restart your computer.
    After doing the above:
    Highlight the icon........
    Hold down the Option Key......
    Go to File>Get Info......
In the existing window, click the existing icon, and then choose Edit>Copy
Next, click the icon to which you want to transfer the copied icon.  Its icon now appears in the Info dialog box that’s still open on the screen.
Click the icon in the dialog box, and this time choose Edit>Paste.  Viola!!!!!  You now have a new icon.
Or you can download this easy to use simple shareware program called CandyBar.  This easy to use piece of software is also less time consuming.  And is now FREE!!!!!!

  • Including custom shapes in report

    Hi,
I am using Web I XI R3.1 rich client. I have the requirement and would like to show the data in custom shapes in report like circles, curved rectangles etc.
The idea is instead of highlighting the complete row of condition in table i want to include the circle and highlight the circle with particular colour if condition is satisfied.
Please let me know if it is possible.
    Thanks,
    Eswar

I have not done it before but you can try following.
    1. Have icon files (gif image) of required shares and store it on BO Server
    2. not make a different column for shapes.
    3. now create a variable and apply if then logic to show the respective image
    4. put this variable in column and change it to show image ( i think there is property to show image url)

  • How do I save a JPEG that includes text as a Vector image in photoshop?

I have a design that includes some text. I need it to be saved as a vector image , photoshop pdf to send off to print. They keep telling me there is an embedded jpeg in the file. how do I fix this?
note: Im using photoshop CC, I do not have access to illustrator, indesign etc...

A pdf can contain both vector and raster data. Any images in your design would be raster. The settings for the pdf determine how to handle the raster data. One way it can compress the images is to store the images as jpg.
If the service is expecting a vector file, then there can not be any raster data in that file.
The only true way to make sure the entire file is vector is to use illustrator.
Just an fyi, even if you import an illustrator file into Photoshop, that data will be raster, because Photoshop rasterizes the data when importing it.

  • How to type text in a circular shape around an image without warping it?

I'm an intermediate user of Photoshop.  I've unsuccessfully wrapped text in a circular shape without distorting it.  The 'warp text' feature is does to achieve the appearance I seek. If possible, what are the steps to successfully do it in Photoshop.
    Thanks in Advance!

To create a ring of type as seen in Fig. 6:
    1. Open a new file (File > New) with the same height as its width, perhaps ten inches square and then type the sentence that is to create the circle (Fig. 1)
    2. Converting the type line to a circle reduces its height. To compensate for that, choose Edit > Transform > Scale. Drag the type to about twice its height (Fig. 2)
    3. Choose the Move tool and shift the type line close to – but not touching – the left edge. (Fig 3)
    4. Choose the Crop tool. In the Options bar change Unconstained to 1 x 1 (Square). Then drag the right corner handle of the Crop diagonally until there is a one-letter space between the last letter of the type line and the right edge of the square. (Fig. 4)   OK
    5. Center the line vertically. (Fig 5)
    6. Choose Select > All. Then, choose Filter > Distort > Polar Coordinates. Rasterize the type when asked. Radio button should be set to Rectangular to Polar. To preview the image, adjust the percent listed below the inset illustration. Click OK. The result: Fig 6
    7. Choose Select > Deselect and, for final housekeeping, choose the Crop tool and return the Options bar to Unconstrained.
    8. Save the file in psd format so that the circle of type remains on a transparent surround and the layer may be floated onto another image.
Remember: A rasterized image will lose sharpness with enlargement. It would be prudent to use the circle of type at same size or smaller.

  • How to include camera settings on actual image during export

Is there a way to include camera settings directly onto the image upon export of image(s) in Aperture Program?

Not without a plug-in.  Aperture does not allow compositing.
The plug-in BorderFX can likely allow you to do what you want, and more.  Recommended.

  • Exporting grouped shapes as an image

I have grouped several shapes and text in a single graphic and would like to export into Pages as an image (jpg, gif, whatever). Is this possible? The only way I can figure is to export the entire slide but that is not really the same.

No, separating the text from the graphic did not help - same result. Basically, the graphic which is a collection of shapes and text, all layered to form a single graphic paste in to Pages as a collection of shapes and text. There is no layering, just a shape, followed by another shape, followed by a text element, followed by another shape - so on.

  • How can I add a solid shape over my image in Pages?

  • Can you layer a Microsoft shape onto an image in Photoshop and change the color???

I'm using OS X Yosemite 10-10-1, Photoshop CC, 2014.2.1. I uploaded a shape from Word Office 2011 and layered it over my image. The symbol is blue and I want to change the color in Photoshop. I've tried but can't seem to figure out how it's done. The shape is blue.
    Thank you.

Put the Word symbol on a new Word document.
    Save as  .pdf
Bring into Photoshop and save as .psd. The area around the symbol will be clear.
Drag symbol layer over an image
Lock the clear area usng the symbol indicated by the red arrow shown above
    Choose your replacement color
Edit > Fill with the Blending Mode set to Color
    Job done.

  • Including SCEP client in an image

My manager would like us to include the SCEP Client in our base image. I did not find any best practices articles on this. If the computer image being captured is not managed in any way are there any GUID files to remove before capture?

Unfortunately, my manager wants us to include the actual agent in the image, not deploy it as part of a TS. We are creating a shared base image and have to account for distributed support (who may not add SCEP deployment to their task sequences). We followed some
steps in a presentation from TechEd last year (it involves cleaning up reg keys).
@BryanCP:  Could you explain what you did to have the Endpoint Protection client in you base WIM.  I messed up and captured a 20 GB WIM with the client and don't want to redo it.  I normally install it during task sequence.  With it installed
in my messes up my task at the SCEP install step.  I don't just want to assume and skip the step.
I follow the steps laid out here normally to install during task.
http://blogs.technet.com/b/configmgrteam/archive/2012/04/12/operating-system-deployment-and-endpoint-protection-client-installation.aspx  At the bottom he talks about registry keys if it is included but no detail.  Can I just delete them during
the task sequence?  He says SYSPREP, but I don't get that.

  • Creating transparent shapes in traced images

Ok so I am just starting out with Illustrator and until I know how to make vectors from scratch I've been making due with the 'Image Trace' option for my logos. I do run into a problem though. If something within the image needs to be cut out to show as a transparency, just deleting the vector shape the Trace created wont give me that. The black lines I use to border my image ends up turning into a whole background shape in itself, so whatever black I delete, all the connecting black gets deleted as well. I want to know a way I can select, for instance, inside the lettering of the image below and cut out a shape to match the border around the rest of the lettering. I hope I'm making sense! I don't know any technical terms yet...The solution is probably obvious but I'm lost none-the-less. This would be a big help!

    residualhaunt,
    To continue:
until I know how to make vectors from scratch I've been making due with the 'Image Trace' option for my logos
You may still start by drawing things by hand, or just use something you have drawn already, and use that as a template.
You may then scan the hand drawn artwork and place it on its own layer, locked, then recreate it (on top) by using the Pen Tool or other tools for special shapes (such as Rectangle/square, Ellipse/circle, Star, Polygon, Spiral, whatever), and you may use the Type Tool to create the text if you have the right fonts; you may edit while drawing with the tools, and you may edit/adjust afterwards.
One way of editing underway when using the Pen Tool is to use the Spacebar: when you Click or ClickDrag (for curved path segments) and wish to adjust the position of the Anchor Point you have just made, you may Hold the Spacebar and move about (ClickHolding) until you are satisfied; if it has Handles, the Handles are freezed as long as you Hold the Spacebar. You can switch freely between adjusting the Anchor Point and adjusting the Handles by Holding/non Holding the Spacebar as many times as you like, then go on to the next Anchor Point.
You can adjust Anchor Point positions and Handles afterwards by ClickDragging with the Direct Selection Tool (after deselecting the object if needed); you may Click the Anchor Point or an adjacent path segment to have the Anchor Point and Handles shown.
You may also start working without a template.
Unless you are after a hand drawn appearance, the Pen Tool gives more accurate and clean artwork than do the Pencil and Paintbrush Tools.
To practise with the Pen Tool, in order to get the insight into its working, you may trace anything: (serif) letters, circles, ellipses, (rounded) rectangles, images.
One thing to remember is that fewer Anchor Points (with the right Handles) give smoother shapes.

  • Making canvas shape same as image?!?!

i am very new to photoshop and have to teach myself how to do whatever i'm doing as i do it........
I've got an image i've made which is a rectangle (in portrait layout), with rounded corneres, in the psd file i've erased the corners of the image outside of the actual images rounded corners so i just have a transparrent background visible as the corners of the canvas, which ever way i the save this image and go to use it i still have the visible corners of the rectangular canvas showing.....
how do i get the whole thing to be just my rounded cornered image with no canvas corners ruining it?
    many thnaks
    Jason

Ok, wait...I don't think you are understanding things correctly.
    Please reread the first post:
There's no way you can make a photoshop canvas side rounded, what you can do is just ctrl+click the layer thumbnail of the image that you did you will notice in the canvas area the image will have a selection, after that go to image menu >> crop. It will crop your canvas exactly the same as your image. Hope it helps.
The overall file will be rectangle. But the portion where the white is showing can be made transparent (as all the above posts are guiding you to do). Once the corners are transparent and the image is placed into the program, website, etc that you are using it will then appear to be a rounded corner rectangle because you will be seeing through the white portion around the corners.
Take a look at this image:
This is a rounded corner .gif image. I placed this image into an Indesign file which had a pink background. Notice the blue rectangle around the black shape. That rectangle represents the actual canvas size of the document which I created the rounded corner rectangle image in photoshop. So all that space between the black image and the blue outline has been made transparent and you are seeing through it, however the original .gif image is actually the size and shape of that blue line (border).

Using PSE 12--Several times I've tried creating a panorama with Photomerge. I'm usiny 3 images. Every attempt results in a final panorama of only the 1st two images. Any direction on how to get the beast to include all 3?

It's really hard to tell without seeing the photos.
Is it possible you could post the the photos somewhere, so someone here might give it a shot?
