Including an External Blog

I have a blog on blogger that would be a pain to copy into iWeb, plus it's blogging options seem to not be as nice. I was wondering if I cound have the blog someone go to the site, but still have the nav bar at the top, so they could get back from it!
I am fairly good a writing HTML code, so if it requires something like that, I'm fine.

You can certainly link to your Blogger blog from iWeb, even via a dummy item on iWeb's navigation bar. See the neat trick described in this topic in the very early iWeb days: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=400373&tstart=0. I'll leave the niceties of returning from Blogger to iWeb up to you
Alternatively, you could follow the example of Suzanne Boben at her 11 Mystics site. Suzanne has integrated her WordPress blog into her iWeb site. She describes how she did this in this blog entry.

Does having an external blog like Tumblr coded into Muse a big negative?
I want to start a blog and of course have it on my Muse site but I had a SEO company tell me that it is defeating to not have a muse hosted blog so I should rebuild my site using WordPress and have the internal blog and get rid of Muse.
I got the tumblr code to work in Muse very well and I don't see a problem but I guess I'm looking for better feedback about this idea from the Muse community. I hope this makes sense what I'm asking.

Why do button functions included in external actionscript not persist across frames?

this one drives me nuts!
if i include an external actionscript file in frame one of my
movie, then [as you'd expect] all the functions, global variables
etc contained in that external AS file are available throughout my
movie - with one notable exception.
if i add a button to the stage - in a frame other than frame
one - whose onRelease handler is defined in the external AS, the
function is not called when the button is clicked - i have to
re-include the external AS file again on the frame in which the
button resides, in order for the buttons function to be called.
anyone know why this is - and if there's a way round it?
how come all the other functions in the AS persist across all
frames and all timelines in the movie, but the button handlers only
seem to be available on the actual frame in which the AS file is
included?

I think you and I are dealing with similar issues and the
root cause is referred to as "scope." The only difference between
your and my problems is that your code is in an external as file
and mine is on the timline. But in both instances, code that should
work doesn't. Robert Reinhardt has covered this in an article at

He is the author of the Flash Actionscript Bible series and so
knows what he is talking about. I have been studying it for an hour
and darn if I can understand the second page of it. I've asked for

Including an External File

I have an external file that contains a declaration of an ActiveX object that I need to include in several JSP's. The external file resides on a separate web server from where our applications reside.
I can't use the Include directive or the <jsp:include> tag because they only permit relative URL's. I also have read that I can use the <c:import> action tag provided in the JSTL, but we do not use JSTL currently and it would require additional time to add that code to our applications and test it.
Is there any other way to include this external file in my JSP pages?

Thanks for the help. It hasn't been decided where the external file will reside, but it will probably be on our mainframe running WebSphere so I don't think the second option will work.
We were hoping that we could just add 1 line of code to our pages to pull in the external file to simply the development process, but that doesn't look like it will work. We might have to create a second file that can be referenced with a relative URL, and have this file use one of the URL Connection classes to get the first file and write out its contents.

What is the file system of that external HD? is it MacOS Extended (Journaled)?
Which iPhoto version do you have?
If you directly select the iPhoto Library in the Finder and use "File > Get Info", does the library still show as "Kind: iPhoto Library" and is the file size correct for 22000 Photos?
If the library does no longer have the correct size, restore it from your backup.
But if the library has the correct size, try to open it directly by clicking it. This should work, if your iPhoto version is iPhoto '11.

I want to include an external Photo drive in my current Time Machine backup. How?

I just set up my Time Machine last night. I have two additional external hard drives attached to my iMac, one with photos, one with music. I wanted those two external hard drives to be included in my Time Machine backup, but apparently I did something wrong in setting up Time Machine because it appears they have been excluded from the backup process.
I see them listed in the exclude list, but I see no way to add them to Time Machine backup. The whole reason I wanted to get this backup set up was to make sure my photos and music were coppied to the backup. Is there a way to add these two external hard drives to my Time Machine backup now that it has been set up? If not, is there a way to start over and re-setup the Time Machine so I can include them?
It seems like it shouldn't be so complicated. What am I missing?

You remove the drives from the exclude list..
Use the + to add things to the exclude list..
Highlight the item and use the - to remove it from the exclude list.

External monitor simply not working - including with external dock (dual screen)

I can't get the external monitor (aka dual screen) to work on my T60 via the VGA port. My model is currently running Windows XP and has a ATI Radeon X1300 video card.
I'm 6 months out of warantee (although this problem started while in warantee but I can't convince Lenovo of that).
I've tried the following:
- ensuring "extend my monitor onto this desktop" in windows display properties
- disabling/enabling Presentation Director and trying all the schemes
- setting all different combinations of modes for resolution/colour on both (LCD + VGA) monitor
- trying two different monitors and cables (which did work with other computers)
- Updating the video drivers (from the Lenovo website) and Presentation Director to the latest versions
I then figured it might be a hardware fault, so I tried to see if the external monitor was activated on bootup. I made sure the "LCD + VGA" option on boot was selected in BIOS. Still no joy.
Finally, I figured the actual VGA connector was broken so I bought a compatible mini docking station (port replicator) and attached the VGA cable to that and even that didn't work.
What on earth could be wrong if it's not the software and not the VGA connector? The video card is working as its powering the LCD display?
Is my only option to give it in to repair (I can't afford that)?

Yup, checked the cables and monitor with another system (actually with the same laptop using a USB->VGA adaptor which isn't a long-term fix)
Also updated to all the latest driver including a BIOS update (which I forgot to mention).

Including AS3 external class file

How do I include 2 or more external action script files in my FLA document.The first one is easy and taken care by setting the class property of the FLA document to the class file name. But if I have several external class files? I have tried the 'include' directive but the compiler complains - any suggestions?

To import the other Class, just start typing its name in an expression, and hold down the control key while hitting the space bar. Both the Flash IDE and Flash Builder will bring up a code completion dropdown. When you select the Class, the import statement will be generated.
For example, if you are in Foo and you type:

Then when you have typed in the "Ba" part of the word Bar after the colon, if you use the Ctrl-Space keyboard shortcut, it should show you your Bar Class, possibly among other Classes starting with "Ba." Select "Bar" with either your mouse or your cursor, and Flash will finish the word for you and generate the import statement. Note that you can now create and use instances of Bar, but Bar won't be "merged" into Foo, which it sounds like is what you want. To do that, you'll need to do what I suggested, which is to have one Class extend another Class.
To have one Class extend the other, change the line that says "public class Foo" to "public class Foo extends Bar". Note that the two Classes must have compatible functionality and have the same base Class. I'm assuming they do, or else trying to "include" the code wouldn't work either.
Another possible solution, depending on exactly what you're trying to acheive, is to apply the second Class to a symbol in the library and use that by placing it on the stage or accessing it through code. However, you haven't given us very much to go on, so it's really difficult to help you.

Search to Include unhooked external drives

It would be nice If the Finder Search had an option to include results from external drives that are not currently hooked up to the computer. To Include drives you have mounted in past month, and external drives Drives on other systems. So when you hook up a Drive, it caches a log of the file directory. And that Directory is included in the searches.

How do i add an external blog to a specific part of my home page?

i am wanting to add a tumblr blog to my home page. within muse, how do i configure exactly where in my site i want this blog to show up? is there a widget or something? i would like the most recent blog post to show up (in a window perhaps?) on the main page...where someone can then click on it, and have it open to the entire blog. how do i go about doing this?

Time Machine - including a external hard drive in time machine back up.

I have recently updated to a 2014 15 inch Macbook Pro running OS X Yosemite. Previously on my 2006 Macbook I have used a 750GB hard drive with iMovie to store old files and subsequently back up this drive and my Macbook to a separate 3 TB external hard drive at the same time using time machine. Since using OS X Yosemite I can't seem to find a way to do it, as in back up the computer drive and a external drive to time machine. Has this feature been removed??? Any ideas. Thanks in advance.

Feature is still there (but buggy if you dismount drive, run Time Machine, mount drive, run Time Machine)
Have you checked that the drive has not been excluded as part of the migration from old machine to new?
Open System preferences
Select Time Machine
Select Options
If the drive is in the list 'Exclude these items from backups'; then select the drive, select minus and select save
Now; if that is the case the initial calculation for that drive next occasion Time Machine runs will be ALL the in-scope contents of the disk whether already backed up or not; so if there is less than this on your TM drive it will start deleting backups.

Attempting to include an external hard drive to my time machine backup

I have an Apple Time Capsule that I am using as my back-up destination using Time Capsule. I have another ext hard drive (WD) that I use as an 'everyday drive'. I want to include this drive into my time capsule backup - but for some reason, this hard drive is appearing in my 'exclude' list and I cannot remove it.
Any ideas?

Hi, and welcome to the forums.
If the drive is shown in gray instead of black, it's most likely because it's not formatted for a Mac, and Time Machine cannot back it up.
Check it via +Disk Utility+ (in your Applications/Utilities folder).
Select the main (top) line for the drive (with the make and size). At the bottom it will display the *Partition Map Scheme.* If that's +Master Boot Record,+ the drive was set up for use with Windoze.
Then select the line for the partition (indented). At the lower left it will show the Format. If the Format doesn't start with +Mac OS Extended,+ Time Machine cannot back it up.
The only way you can fix that is to copy the data somewhere temporarily, then reformat the drive.
Format it as you would a Time Machine drive -- see #5 in the Frequently Asked Questions *User Tip,* also at the top of this forum.

Hi Vanita,
open your project in nwds > right click on the project > click on properties option from the menu > click on java build path from the left-side navigation of the window > and click on libraries in the right side tab > here you'll get a button called add external jars > clicking to this, will open browser window to select a jar file.

Can you include an external data source in query condition?

Hi all,
I have a user that wants to run a report off a subset keys in an external data source. Is this possible in Disco Plus?
For example, he has an Excel file that is just a list of employee numbers. He then wants his Disco query to only bring back the employee records for the people listed in the Excel file. Right now, he uses Cognos and can do this. A visual representation of this would be a condiition that would accomplish something like this:
WHERE EMPLOYEE_NUMBER IN (Excel row 1, Excel row 2, Excel row 3, ...)
We do not want to have to load the data into a table each time to accomplish this, but no other way readily jumps out at me. Anyone have any ideas?

Given the situation you describe, I don't know of any 'reasonable' way to do this either the GUI in Desktop or the interface in Plus.
However - and just for the grins - there may be a possibility if done through the command line interface of Desktop. I truly doubt you'll want to do it - given the limitations - but ...
... in the command line interface you can put in the switch for /parameter such as: /parameter today trunc(SYSDATE), which means that your report is looking for a parameter called 'today' and you're putting in the data to put in the parameter 'trunc(SYSDATE)'.
So, you could either build the command line with a batchy-kinda-process in that via batch it reads a file as input and puts parameters, or hard code it manually (which no one would want to do). Problem is, if you have multiple values, I don't think it'd work as you're saying something like:
/parameter today (SYSDATE,SYSDATE-1,SYSDATE+!) - which I doubt would work as it probably only wants one value
or if you had:
/parameter today SYSDATE /parameter today SYSDATE-1 /parameter today SYSDATE+1
it also might choke.
Alternatively, you could investigate using Plus with the Java command line utility and see if it's possible to do a similar thing via Java.

Hi everyone, i am new to java and am having some problems with my program.
I have a for loop but it doesnt work it completely gets ignored and i have
no idea why it does that.
IS there a way that i add another option in the menu to open an external file
which would be similar to this but it would be for cabinBooking. If so how do
i do that. if opening an external file is impossible then could you please show me an example of how to extend the booking class.
