Including .as files in a custom component

Can anyone tell me how to include an actionscript file in a
custom component when the .as file resides one level above the
component?
All of my custom components are in the "src/components"
directory and the actionscript file I need to include is one level
up in the "src" directory. I assume this can be done easily, but I
am new to Flex and can't get it working. I have tried ../ ,
parentDocument, parentApplication, Application.application, and
fully referencing the file from C: with no luck.
The ../ version seems to point to the right place but my
Problems panel is showing
"1068: Unable to open included file:
C:\CFusionMX7\wwwroot\c21hp\flex\src\yahooMap2.as"
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

@Ryan:
Thanks for your reply. For type property in Inspectable metadata tag: http://livedocs.adobe.com/flex/gumbo/html/WS2db454920e96a9e51e63e3d11c0bf680e1-7ffe.html#W S2db454920e96a9e51e63e3d11c0bf69084-7a21
It can have values like Boolean, Array, String etc. I am trying to have a custom one. But I notice that I have to close the property tag, even if it is a string or html for e.g. text property in TextInput, I have to write something like this:
<mx:TextInput>
<mx:htmlText>

</mx:htmlText>
</mx:TextInput>
and
<mx:TextInput>
<mx:text>something</mx:text>
</mx:TextInput>
But I still think, it should be there. Not sure

• How can I include a javaScript files from within jsf component

Is there any way using which I can include javascript files from my jsf component. Because otherwise I have to write all the javascript commands using writer.write which is very tedious rather than this I just want to include the javascript file which contains all the functions required. Also I want that this file should be included only once irrespective of the number of components included.
Thanx in advance

This doesn't depend on JSF. You need to include a script tag, like:

If you want to include this only once, make a file included into every page, into which you can put other resources to be included along with this script.

• Creating a custom component in multisim using *.lib and *.olb files

i have *.lib and *.olb files for a pspice model. which file i have to you while creating a custom component in multisim.

Hello,
Thanks for your question. In order to create simulatable custom components in Multisim you need a SPICE model (Multisim can also understand PSpice Models). The file format for SPICE model can be different according to the manufacturer, for instance: *.cir, *.lib, *.llb. At the end of the day these files are text files that you can open with a text editor, therefore, you can simply copy and paste the model in Multisim.
Here are two good resources on component creation:
Component Creation 101
Creating a Custom Component in NI Multisim
When you reach the step where you need to enter the SPICE model, simply open the *.lib or *.olb file with a text editor, and copy and paste the model.
Hope this helps.

• Add jsf2 Custom Component from 3rdparty .jar file

</facelet-taglib>
when opening page:
Expression Error: Named Object: HtmlInputFile not found.
HtmlInputFile in jar file that laid in project's classpath.
Please give a hint.

Hi!
I found out, that editing classpath of the custom component through the Component Wizard does not take effect immediatelly. You have to reinstall your component after such changes.
Let me know if it works.

• Custom Component Creates Unicode Files instead of UTF-8

We have a custom component running in our SAP Enterprise Portal. The component creates a XML Outputfile encoded in UTF-8 since we force the component to so so. In the environment we're using right now, the output is in Unicode, which is obviously wrong. In what way can we amend the settings of our WebAs to switch the output format to unicode? Where/with what means do we have to do that?
We are using Enterprise Portal 6.0 SP2, therefore WebAS 6.2.

Alexander,
Were you able to find the answer to your question? I am experiencing the same issue and need to know how to create an XML output file in UTF-8 encoding.
Thanks,
Shannon

• Is it possible to process a 0kb file within a custom pipeline component?

Hi There,
You probably wondering.. what the hell do you need this for?
Well.. we have a third party application that process a file as following
1) Import the original file
2) Export the original file
3) Append the original file (with the data I need)
4) Create a 0 kb file with the original exported filename but added .sem to show me that the export is done.
So my guessing was to with a custom pipeline component (receive) to pickup the .sem file, and use the original exported file to process the data from within the custom pipeline component.
Well, this works perfectly.
But... this only works if I add any data to the .sem file.
Otherwise BizTalk picks up the .sem file, but does not process it, it actually does not enter the pipeline at all, and it also does not appear in the tracking.
Is there a possiblity to accept 0kb files within a custom pipeline component?
Please help, Thanks
DP

Hi,
Here is an excellent article explaining the behavior of BizTalk for zero Byte files. It can help you achieve your mentioned goal.

• Problem with inputText in my custom component

Hi, I have a custom dataTable component that I'm trying to get to work. It has to be a custom component because dataTable doesn't support rowspan, colspan, multi line headers, and a rendered attribute for rows. The problem is, that when I wrap the column tag inside my row tag then the method for the inputText tag never gets called in the UPDATE_MODEL_VALUES phase.
I'm starting to think that JSF doesn't support 2 levels of tags between the inputText and dataTable. I'm hoping that someone can tell me what I have wrong with my components.
Here is the JSP snippet.
<cjsf:rptTable>
<cjsf:data id="dataTable1" value="#{allAuthUser.tableRows}" var="myTableRow1">
<cjsf:row>
<cjsf:col>
<h:inputText id="tableTestFld" value="#{myTableRow1.testFld}" size="5" maxlength="5"/>
</cjsf:col>
</cjsf:row>
</cjsf:data>
</cjsf:rptTable>Here is what it renders. It looks to me like everything renders fine. So I'm guessing that there is something in a component that is causing JSF during the life cycle to not be able to process correctly.

Note: If I leave off the row tag it renders the same way except of course the
and
tags are missing. If I do this, then the backing method for the inputText tag is called and everything works fine. Why doesn't it work with the row tag in place?
Here are the components:

public UIRptTable() {

Hi, Ray!
1) I was trying to put a button in the column header (for sorting) and I couldn't get that to work. That involved the >colhdr tag. I got that to work but I don't remember the fix. I'll look it up and reply back with that when I can.Dealing the first part of your trouble, you need NOT a custom component.
I have looked through the implementation of RepeaterRenderer, as you advised me, and found that the multi-header possibility is included in the implementation of dataTable control.
The code below is the part of source of repeater.jsp with only change:
<d:data_repeater>  <h:dataTable>
And it works fine.
<h:dataTable id="table"
binding="#{RepeaterBean.data}"
rows="5"
value="#{RepeaterBean.customers}"
var="customer">
<f:facet name="header">
<h:outputText value="Customer List"/>               <! First Header row -- >
</f:facet>
<h:column>
<%-- Visible checkbox for selection --%>
<h:selectBooleanCheckbox
id="checked"
binding="#{RepeaterBean.checked}"/>
<%-- Invisible checkbox for "created" flag --%>
<h:selectBooleanCheckbox
id="created"
binding="#{RepeaterBean.created}"
rendered="false"/>
</h:column>
<h:column>
<f:facet name="header">
<h:outputText value="Account Id"/>               <!Second Header row -- >
</f:facet>
<h:inputText id="accountId"
binding="#{RepeaterBean.accountId}"
required="true"
size="6"
value="#{customer.accountId}">
</h:inputText>
<h:message for="accountId"/>
</h:column>
<h:column>
<f:facet name="header">
<h:outputText value="Customer Name"/>               <!Second Header row -- >
</f:facet>
<h:inputText id="name"
required="true"
size="50"
value="#{customer.name}">
</h:inputText>
<h:message for="name"/>
</h:column>
<h:column>
<f:facet name="header">                    <!Second Header row -- >
<h:outputText value="Symbol"/>
</f:facet>
<h:inputText id="symbol"
required="true"
size="6"
value="#{customer.symbol}">
<f:validateLength
maximum="6"
minimum="2"/>
</h:inputText>
<h:message for="symbol"/>
</h:column>
<h:column>
<f:facet name="header">                    <!Second Header row -- >
<h:outputText value="Total Sales"/>
</f:facet>
<h:outputText id="totalSales"
value="#{customer.totalSales}">
<f:convertNumber
type="currency"/>
</h:outputText>
</h:column>
<h:column>
<f:facet name="header">                    <!Second Header row -- >
<h:outputText value="Commands"/>
</f:facet>
<h:commandButton id="press"
action="#{RepeaterBean.press}"
immediate="true"
value="#{RepeaterBean.pressLabel}"
type="SUBMIT"/>
<h:commandLink id="click"
action="#{RepeaterBean.click}"
immediate="true">
<h:outputText
value="Click"/>
</h:commandLink>
</h:column>
</h:dataTable>
You may have a look at HTML source to prove that dataTable is already what you need:

Customer List

Account Id

Customer Name

Symbol

Total Sales

Commands

2.) The second trouble is still unsettled as previously. Right now I have different task at my job, and I cant continue investigation of this problem.
But when you find smth., please let me know. Ill be very grateful.

• Error when installing a Custom Component

Hi there,
I wrote a custom component and built the according jar-file. The next step was to import the jar-file into the workbench.
When I tried to do so the following error occurred (workbench .log file):
!ENTRY com.adobe.DSC_Admin_UI 4 4 2008-01-15 16:05:43.418
!MESSAGE install of C:\tmp\adobe-components\adobe-component.jar failed
!STACK 0
ALC-DSC-000-000: com.adobe.idp.dsc.DSCRuntimeException: Internal error.
Caused by: java.io.FileNotFoundException: C:\DOCUME~1\ADMINI~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\ArchiveStore\306\at\integrata\livecycle\component\Boot strapImpl.class (The system cannot find the path specified)
Caused by: java.io.FileNotFoundException: C:\DOCUME~1\ADMINI~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\ArchiveStore\306\at\integrata\livecycle\component\Boot strapImpl.class (The system cannot find the path specified)
The problem is, that the workbench is not running on the same computer as the ES server. When I extract the jar-file manually into the considered directory on the server everything works fine.
Is this a bug or even not possible to import components from a remote workbench?
kind regards
Michael

Hy all,
I have been having the same problem.
I think the cause with me is that I added libraries my component needs manually into the jar-file of my component and sometimes I added the component.xml file manually into the component-jar. I use 7Zip for this but every I did that I could not get the component to install correctly, unless I unpacked it manually in the temp-dir.
I believe this is happens because when I manually place files in the jar file with a tool like 7Zip they are automatically being compressed and the jar-file of a component must not be compressed.
So therefore I imported everything correctly in my Eclipse-project and now when I Export my component to a jar-file, everything is included and I don't have to place files manually into the jar-file of my component.
When I install a component created like that I don't have any problems.
Hope this helps for you to.
Regards,
RonnyR

• Custom component: porting from lc 8.0 to lc 8.2

hello
i developed a java pojo custom component for lc 8.0, essentially it connected to a db and returned a complex object. Now the environment has been upgraded to lc 8.2 . I've loaded my processes (which include my custom component) on the new environment. When i start the process , my component reaches the finally block where i've logged the db connections closing. Immediatly after the system crushes with the following error(i haven't added the whole stack trace because its huge):
2009-04-10 13:11:21,422 WARN [com.arjuna.ats.jta.logging.loggerI18N] [com.arjuna.ats.internal.jta.transaction.arjunacore.lastResource.disallow] [com.arjuna.ats.internal.jta.transaction.arjunacore.lastResource.disallow] Adding multiple last resources is disallowed. After that jboss get stucked, printing exceptions every 2 minutes, and i need to stop and restart it. I don't see anything wrong with my code: i get the datasource object, i get a coonettin from it, make my queries/updates and finally i close the connection.
googling i've found this might be due to datasource item being local-tx-datasource instead of xa-datasource, but all datasources are of this kind.
Any hint about this problem will be greatly appreciated
thank you in advance
Stefano

hi Steve
thank you for your answer. Unluckly i'm not using mysql but oracle 9i (or 10i i don't know since i'm just a poor programmer). Anyway i did a test : i've bypassed the datasource file , hardcoding the connection parameters in my custom component and it has got executed without problem, then process has crushed again on a query done by some adobe component. there are many adobe sql component instances to read/write from the same schema my compnent uses, so i suppose the problem is inside datasource configuration. There's a datasource sample for oracle too?
I cannot give much details, since the new system has been recently installed and i don't know all info (i think jboss is 4.2 but i'm not sure)
thanks again
regards
Stfano

• Custom component and non-primitive types of attributes

Dear programmers
I try to develope a custom UI component that one of its attribute is an ArrayList. For example:
<productFile:Matrix images="#{MyBean.imagesArray}"/>Unfortuanetly I get the following exception:
[Unable to convert string '#{MyBean.imagesArray}' to class java.util.ArrayList for attribute images: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Property Editor not registered with the PropertyEditorManager]: org.apache.jasper.JasperException: Unable to convert string '#{MyBean.imagesArray}' to class java.util.ArrayList for attribute images: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Property Editor not registered with the PropertyEditorManager
The attribute images is an ArrayList in the custom component.
I have also specifieded it as an ArrayList in the tld file:
<tag>

<tag-class>org.sii.productfilejsf.tags.MatrixTag</tag-class>
<body-content>JSP</body-content>
<attribute>

<required>false</required>
<rtexprvalue>false</rtexprvalue>
<type>java.util.ArrayList</type>
</attribute>
</tag>Does anyone has an idea what can be the problem?
How can I convert the expression?

so how will I be able to convert it?Only your converter knows it.
By the way, is your Matrix component fully completed including its children components?
If yes, you should know how to implement a converter, or its equivalent code for them.
For example, in the <h:dataTable> component, if its value attribute points an array of object,
then it is automatically converted to an appropriate DataModel used by its column children.
We may need to see your MyBean bean and related code set, if we have enough time.

• Nesting JSF components in a custom component

I'm creating a new JSF custom component. my component needs to include an input text and a list box. my question is : how do I add these components to my JSF component ? I want to use to JSF component to render them rather then encoding the HTML myself. how can I do it ?
I was told I need to use encodeChildren method somehow but I don't know how ?

I finally found how to set a default skin to a custom component so that users of my component will not have to set again the skinClass value of my component.
You have to create a defaults.css file at the root of your library and tell the compiler to take it into account.
The remaining problem is about the compiler. There are some steps before success and they are a bit mysterious/unclear....
I found 2 or 3 blog articles explaining those steps but the compiler arguments to use are all differents in each article...
Here are the links I found:
http://www.unitedmindset.com/jonbcampos/2010/05/12/creating-custom-spark-components/
http://www.betadesigns.co.uk/Blog/2010/05/14/default-skin-for-custom-flashbuilder-componen ts/
http://flexdevtips.blogspot.com/2009/06/default-stylesheet-in-swc-flex-library.html
Following the first article guidelines has been successful for me but I'm not marking this topic as Resolved because I'd like some answers about this whole thing...
