Including external RSS content
Total newbie here. Tried searching, but came up empty.
I have a website I'm setting up with iWeb, and I'd like to incorporate some feed content from a third party blog site. I could not find a widget, etc., in iWeb to do this, so I added an HTML snippet of a script from FeedBurner, which displays the headlines I want, but I cannot format the style from within iWeb. I think I have to find the right CSS and add the feedburner classes to it.
Does anyone know of a better or more elegant way of including RSS feeds?
Thanks!
Here's where I'm at right now: http://web.mac.com/bdc314
I'm a big fan of http://www.feeddigest.com, lots of different styles and totally open to CSS styles.

Best Way to Aggregate Multiple Announcement Apps and Possibly External RSS Feed
Hello,
I have two separate announcement apps (one in sub-site A, and one is sub-site B). I am trying to create a webpart that will display content from both apps together.
I have tried to setup a CSWP and have been able to set the query to pull in the data (Although it shows expired announcements, which I would need to eliminate). Now, I am trying to customize the display of the CSWP, including the property mapping values
to display the announcement title (currently working with the URL as a link) and body (truncated like the announcement summary view if possible).
How can I get the body from the announcement to display? The 'body' field isn't listed as an option in the drop down list of mapping values. Do I need to toggle an option on the separate announcement apps, create a column, map a field, or some combination?
Also, I'd like to know if it is possible to add in an external RSS feed. Or, if there is a completely different way to approach and accomplish this, please let me know.
Thank youHi,
To display the “Body” field of Announcements list properly in Content Search Web Part, you can take a look at this blog about how to customize the display template for a good
start:
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/bf0eb4de-445f-435a-8c88-1826bfb3aae5/best-way-to-aggregate-multiple-announcement-apps-and-possibly-external-rss-feed?forum=sharepointdevelopment
If there are more complex needs in customization, the two links below would be helpful:

http://blogs.technet.com/b/tothesharepoint/archive/2013/05/28/stage-11-upload-and-apply-display-templates-to-the-content-search-web-part.aspx
Also, if you have several questions, it is recommended to post them in each single thread to make others in this forum easier to focus on one issue in one thread.
Best regards

I am getting regular safari crashes including the Web Content crashes as in the title. I've looked around and haven't been able to find a definitive answer. Has anybody discovered what is causing this?
I've also noticed generally my iMac seems to be running far slower recently....

Reports using xsl:fo - include external pdf
Not strictly an Apex question, but posted here as the application is in Apex.
I have a report layout defined in xsl:fo in my application. As part of this report, I also need to pick up an external pdf file (scanned document) and print with the report. I have added the external document to my fo definition as follows:
<fo:page-sequence master-reference="portraitblank">
<fo:flow flow-name="region-body">
<fo:block>
<fox:external-document content-type="pdf" src="url('http://myhostaddress:8088/filepath/docname.pdf')" />
</fo:block>
</fo:flow>
</fo:page-sequence>
(Obviously the url of the file is not as shown above, this is just for example purposes)
If I do not have the above, my report generates 100%. When I include the external pdf, however, the report fails with a "File does not begin with '%PDF-'" error. I have opened the external pdf with Notepad, and it does start with '%PDF-'
Any suggestions?After much browbeating and head scratching, I now know where the problem is - but not yet how to fix it. The apex_fop supplied with apex does not contain the java packages which enable the use of xsl:fox extensions. Either a new fop distribution, with servlet, must be created, or the apex_fop distribution must be updated to include the necessary java packages.

External RSS feed through Omniportlet?
Just curious to know how to get an external RSS news feed to work properly through the Omniportlet in 10g. I've got the feed coming in and filtered properly, but the link that is created when the portlet displays includes the base portal url (i.e. http://whatever.com/pls/portal/http://actual.newsfeed.url).
In looking through the online help for the Omniportlet, it states that you need to pass a fully qualified URL for external data, but there isn't a way to pass a qualified URL dynamically. I'm not sure how this is supposed to work on external RSS feeds if you need to hardcode the URL.
Am I missing something, or was this an oversight/bug?
Thanks,
ScottHi Kevin,
Here are the answers to your questions:-
What is involved with upgrading to Portal Tools 9.0.4.0.2?
You need to upgrade only PortalTools and not complete OracleAS Portal. But because there is a dependency of PortalTools on OracleAS Portal, you need to verify the Pre-requisites for upgrading to a specific version of Portaltools. But as you are already on OracleAS Portal 904, you will not have any issues upgrading to the latest PortalTools 90402.
Is this upgrading the portal application, some small collection of portlets, or what?<br>
Portal Tools is a collection of deployable OracleAS Portal tools built on Oracle's PDK-Java technology.
This includes the following:
i. WebClipping
ii. OmniPortlet
Once you have deployed PortalTools, you can use the portlets contained within the pre-configured providers under the Portal Tools.
Isn't is possible to just upgrade the one portlet in OmniPortlet?
Upgrading to the latest PortalTools does not involve upgrading OracleAS Portal, it involves upgrading a set of Libraries and re-deploying the PortalTools application.
Please follow the complete document for Upgrading Portaltools, this document is available at <PortalTools_Unzip_Folder>\pdk\portalTools\upgrading.to.90402.html
Hope this helps.
Please get back incase you have any further questions.
Take care,

Can I include external drives to be backed up using Time Machine? Not only do I want to back up my IMac, but I have several extenal drives for one iPhoto, one iTunes and one for other files & documents. How do I know if they are included in the backup process?
Yes, if they are not exclude then TM backs them up.

Can i include external usb drives in Time Machine backups
Can I include external usb drives and sticks in Time Machine backups?
This was the question I searched a week for. My machine is a MBAir with Yosemite. I have a bunch of USB HD and sticks. This is a sharing of what it took to solve. I lost a couple of important document revisions lately because of not having differential backups on them, so wanted to include them in Time Machine.
Yes it can, I found. But it's a wee bit backwards. And apparent inconsistencies drive you crazy. Time Machine is supposed to do this by default, and wants you to tell it what NOT to include. Trouble is, formats create many troubles.
But the USB sticks and HD's you buy are PC formatted. And you'd like to share, as the Apple does with FAT16, FAT32, and exFAT (to overcome the 4G size limit on the others). Even NTFS can be plugged in and be read-only. Turns out you just can't incorporate into TM backups.
Open Time Machine Options, and look at the drives listed in the exclusion window. Drives that you know to be plugged in and registered by Finder, may or not be registered in the exclusion window, and if registered and their icons may be bright or dimmed. Bright will NOT be included. Dimmed are excluded. Normally the operation is to use the or to exclude these drives from your next BU operation. (this instruction is lost the next time in manual mode). So if a drive or stick is shown and is bright it WON'T be backed up. If you it from the window, then it will grey out and WILL be backed up. If it's not there to offer you exclusion, you can browse to such a file or device so you can exclude it. TM's exclusion window will show the PC formats: FAT16, FAT32, and exFAT greyed out (as not included). NTFS is bright looking like it might work, but when doesn't dim, it disappears, and is ignored in the actual BU.
Sources are supposed to be included in the backup if it isn't shown bright in the exclusion window. In this respect I only use TM manually, and not for programmed BU's, so I cannot speak to that.
If everything you have is formatted for the Apple disc system (Mac OS Extended) then there are no contradictions or partial equivalences. The mounted disc or stick will show in TM exclusions window, and if you it, you'll see it in the Time Machine pile of calendared directories, with all the files. And of course it will do the differential backups for it that we use TM for in the first place. Just remember to prepare the BU by not excluding.
BUT NOW THE VARIABLES. It now depends upon the formats. I use the Paragon NTFS program to permit writing NTFS. (Apple can normally read but not write NTFS). Paragon is lovely because for normal computer use, I can read and write both Apple and PC files and disc formats in Finder (for 3 years now). But Time Machine cannot be reached by Paragon so it's NTFS behaviors are outrageous. Paragon reaches Disk Doctor so you can read, write, format and heal both Apple and PC formats. And this really confused things respecting Time Machine. I literally worked through every variable, from stick to disc to prove what did work, and when false appearances of working showed up.
Respecting that very Time Machine display of Finder windows piled backwards through time there's a confusing bug. When first opened, TM shows NOW as the current setup and works just like a Finder window in present time. And the outboard discs and sticks show as in Finder. BUT working back in time, the left window DOES NOT SHOW THE CONDITIONS AT BACKUP but rather in all left windows shows the present setup. So you need to work from the right hand side dates and times to go back and see when you had that stick or HD plugged in. And then, finally, you will see the files you wanted saved. But if there is a stick on the left than TM doesn't like but Finder likes you'll see it left but nothing will be in the files. Clicking on the pretender just jumps to the root.
My Disk Doctor provisions (with Paragon) show, Mac OS Extended (Journaled), Mac OS Extended (Case Sensitive Journaled), MS-DOS (FAT), exFAT, Windows NT Filesystem, Windows NT Filesystem (compressed). It's a better utility than in Microsoft and I use it for such maintenance.
Bottom line, I like TM very much. 2 years ago I lost my air and TM was able to reconstruct my machine many times in the course of the troubleshooting - all the way from the start to the last without ever missing a beat or a file. So I accept this limitation and make copies to another HD formatted in NTFS when I work on PCs.
Hope's this sorts out being lost in the desert for a few of you.
Jock
<Personal Information Edited by Host>Storing normal data files on the Time Capsule is unfortunately not as easy as dropping the folder on the Time Capsule.
Open up Macintosh HD on the Mac
Look for the SHARED heading on the left
Click on the Time Capsule icon and a folder named "Data" will appear (unless you have renamed it)
Double click the "Data" folder to mount the drive on the desktop. You may need to enter the device password for the Time Capsule when you do this the first time
Once the drive icon is on the desktop, you can drag data to the icon and drop it there. Double click the icon to open up the drive and see the files -
How to include external javascript and css resources to a jsf?
I need to include external css and javascript files to my jsf page. Using the code below does not work because all the styles on the css page are ignored and the functions within the js files are not executed.
<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="/resources/styles/style.css" />
<script language="JavaScript" src="/resources/javascript/util.js"></script>When I try to execute any js function within a script tag on a jsf page I get an object expected error.
I googled about my problem and found this piece of code for importing styles for an external css.
<style type="text/css">
@import url("/resources/styles/style.css");
</style>How could I add an external javascript file to my jsf?Used the relative urls in my first post as well as these, and both were not working.
<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="./resources/styles/style.css" />
<script language="JavaScript" src="./resources/javascript/util.js"></script>The ./ tells that the external file can be found by starting at the current directory and working down the path to the specified file. This is my directory structure. Index.jsf is the file that references the external js and css files.
-Webcontent
|_index.jsf
|_resources
|__styles
| |__style.css
|__javascript
|__util.js
Either way I still can't reference the files that I need. Calling a javascript function results in an object expected error, and the styles are ignored.
If I include the js file directly in the jsf then I can get it to work. I don't want to do this because I have created a handful of seperate js files, and do not want to include all of them in one page. I am using myfaces and tomahawk if that helps. -
is it possible to include external .js file into .ear file using NetBean 5.5.1? if not, then where should I placed the external .js file and how to write the src="xxx" element? (that is , how to write the path of "xxx"?)
I am using JBOSS 4.2.2 GA as server
thx!!Even this is also not possible because, the code in that package is developed by DWR and i am just adding it to my lib folder and importing the respective classes. In the same manner i need to include the *.js* file in the JSP.It took me about 3 minutes reading through the [DWR Getting Started|http://getahead.org/dwr/getstarted] page to learn that you don't have to do any of that. Perhaps you should read that page?

How to include external files in JSP
hi,
How to include external files like image or javascript in to jsp pages.
I am using MVC frame work. So i have to use request dispatcher. While calling the pages trough dispatcher the external files are missing from the output. Also am using tomcat as server,web.xml(deployment descriptor ) is also configured.
regards
sreeWhen you use the request dispatcher, the relative path for all your ressources becomes the relative path of your calling serlvet and not the JSP/servlet that you call. Make sure to use the full relative path such as:
/PATH_TO_YOUR_DIRECTORY/myRessource.ext
NOT
SOME_DIRECTORY/myRessource.ext

How to include external style sheet
Hi !!
Can any one explain how to include external style sheet.Anil,
Simply include the css file as I demonstrated in my last post and then reference one the css classes by name in the "styleClass" attribute of the component. So, if the css file that have included in my JSP file (as demonstrated in the prev post) contains a class like:
.spicyPink {
color:#FF1CAE;
font-weight:bold;
Then I would simply reference this class in the component as folows:
<af:outputText value="Pretty In Pink" styleClass="spicyPink"/>
However, you can also add styling to a component inline and accomplish the same task:
<af:outputText value="Pretty In Pink" inlineStyle="color:#FF1CAE;
font-weight:bold;"/>
The thing to remember is that other than the use of styleClass and inlineStyle, referencing and including css in your JSP/JSPX pages is really no different that used in an HTML page.
Here is reference to help you along:

Unable to view external webcam content. I'm using IE11 with Windows 7 64 bit. I've tried deactivating Activex control, tried different browsers etc, tweeked the tools for trusted sites etc, but am totally stuck. I know the cams are working as i can view them on mobile phone via puffin browser. I can play Youtube videos etc just fine. So why not the webcam?
First, confirm that ActiveX Filtering is configured to allow Flash content:
https://forums.adobe.com/thread/867968
Internet Explorer 11 introduces a number of changes both to how the browser identifies itself to remote web servers, and to how it processes JavaScript intended to target behaviors specific to Internet Explorer. Unfortunately, this means that content on some sites will be broken until the content provider changes their site to conform to the new development approach required by modern versions of IE.
You can try to work around these issues by using Compatibility View:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/internet-explorer/use-compatibility-view#ie=ie-11
If that is too inconvenient, using Google Chrome may be a preferable alternative. -
Import external HTML contents to JSP
Hi,
Anybody knows if the WLW has a JSP tag that can be used to import external HTML
contents to my current JSPs? Something similar to JSTL import.
Thanks
QiuQiu--
WLW doesn't have one specifically.
You can certainly use that tag from the Jakarta standard tags 1.0 implementation of JSTL -- this
version does not require JSP 2.0 and can run on a 2.3 Servlet container.
Hope that helps...

Include external content when referred in internal content
I am hoping someone can point me the right directions for the following use case.
In our SharePoint site collection various pages are referring to external content (for example: an article page on msdn or wikipedia). Whenever the user is searching for information that can be found in the external content, I would like SharePoint search
to give a result of all internal pages that are referring to this external information.
Maybe the "link to document" contenttype is what I need to use, but I was hoping it is possible to configure my search crawl to follow links on internal pages referring to external pages for 1 level deep and add the external content to the search
index of the internal page to show up in the search result.
In general I am talking about internal aspx content pages and external html or pdf documents
(I hope this explaination is clear enough)Hi,
Your explanation is quite clear about what you expect. As my understanding, the current search service in SharePoint cannot achieve your requirements. First, the SharePoint search engine limits search scope within the data sources defined in SharePoint search
service application. Considering the links in your internal pages might link to anywhere in internet, the external pages cannot always be able to be clawed by SharePoint. In addition, the OOTB index components don't support adding one content into the
index of another content.
In my point of view, the only possible way is to develop your own search service application, and deploy it to your SharePoint environment, but this is a very complex task.
Thanks,
Reken Liu
