Incoming and outgoing email stuck in mailq

Hi,
Got a problem trying to send and receive email. All messages seems to get stuck in the mail queue. If i type mailq i can see all the mails, who they are from and who the recipient is meant to be - but they never reach any of the mail boxes.
Any help resolving this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
xserve Mac OS X (10.3.9)

Hello Sushi, welcome to the discussions. I can't answer your question, but as it relates to sendmail on server, you might get more replies if you post it again on the mail on server discussions.

  • No more sound for incoming and outgoing emails in my Mail

This is the third time it is happening in my Mail. The sound of incoming and outgoing emails has disappeared. I have tried selecting a new sound in the preferences, quitting Mail and reopening it and it worked yesterday. But this morning again, the sound is gone... And what I did yesterday does not work today...Anybody to help me with this?
I have a MacBook Pro with OS X (version 10.9.4).

Reverting back just do a copy of all your data to an external drive. Then do a clean install of a previous OS.
It may be time consuming, but if you are having this many headaches in Mavericks, it may be best to wait it out a bit longer.
If you want me to continue to diagnose on Mavericks, I can.
Can you list which service each email account is from (ie, Gmail, Hotmail, iCloud, etc) ?

  • How can I stop Mail from automatically archiving every incoming and outgoing email?

Mail is automatically archiving every incoming and outgoing message, and then synch'ing that with my iPhone -- thus sucking up all available memory.  I have never asked it to automatically archive everything, and can't figure out how to stop it.  Any ideas?

    Launch Mail.
    Mail > Preferences > Accounts > Advanced
Uncheck the box beside "Include when automatically checking for new messages".
Do it for all accounts if you want.
    Best.

  • Is it ok to have 1 nic configured with 1 listener handling incoming and outgoing email?

I'm reading about public and private listeners and i am wondering is there any harm in configuring 1 nic with 1 listener handling incoming and outgoing mail flow.

    Brannon,
I also think it will work fine; as I heard some time keep it simple

  • Why have my Incoming and outgoing emails begun to multiply

My email inbox and outgoing mailbox entries started multiplying in my Mail program. I thought Macs were protected from viruses. Help???? I am a teacher w/ no knowledge in this area on what to do. I need get my email back on track asap for my end of the year communications with parents. Mahalo for any and all help!!!!

Rebuild doesn't seem to make a difference. I mean, I assume it would make a difference for the moment, but not after additional mail comes into the mailbox.
Looking at the inbox on the server -- it is a Redhat Linux machine into which I can ssh -- it is clear that my inbox (my system mailbox in /var/mail) does not get updated with changes until I disconnect (Go offline or quit). I assume that this has something to do with the problem. So, after a while when my inbox is reread, the messages I've alread read (and some refoldered) are marked as new again.
I seem to remember testing this with Thunderbird and not having this problem, but I could be remembering wrong.
If there was a mode to "connect only when sending or receiving" that would do the trick.

  • Possible to have different ports for incoming and outgoing email?

I need to set up a mail account in Mail where I read incoming mail from port 110, but to send outgoing mail I need to use port 587. Is this possible in Mail? Looks as if you only get to set the port once for both operations.

it is indeed possible. go to mail>preferences>accounts, select the account you already created then go to account information and to outgoing server list, click on the list, go to edit server list and in the advanced pane you can change the outgoing port. for the incoming port, again select the account you already created, then go to advanced, and type in the incoming port.
    hope this helps

  • Regarding emails: incoming and outgoing emails displaying in a small font, have tried to restore default settings but doesn't work?

Have tried many of the suggestions posted here but still not working or only work for one email at a time when changed under Tools: Account Settings and Options. Thanks for any NEW ideas to try.
Currently displaying x-small, would like to default font size to medium (which I think is normal). Thank you.

Are there no fixes for this?
In my eyes this is a major problem and certainly something that is making me consider moving away from Mail...

  • Both Incoming and Outgoing Mail Stuck in Queue

Hi, I have an issue with a new install of OS X 10.5.8 Mail Server. It queues everything and won't let anything in or out. I feel like I must have missed something setting it up, but I followed the PDF pretty much step by step.
Does anyone have any tips or tricks to getting a new mail server running correctly?

Does anyone have any tips or tricks to getting a new mail server running correctly?
    Yes. Read the logs.
There are approximately 2 gazllion and seven reasons why mail might not pass through the server and get queued. The logs should shed some light on the problem and narrow down the focus.

  • Copy all incoming and outgoing mail to an additional mailbox

Is there a means to copy all incoming and outgoing email through the Apple Mail server to one inbox? As an example, Bob sends and email to Jeff and receives a reply. I want a copy of each of those emails to, say, [email protected] Is there a means within the server config or some other method to accomplish this?

Help with this matter would be greatly appreciated.

I have an email account (with Verizon) but neeed to change the names of the incoming and outgoing servers.  How do I do this?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
If you still know the ID and password, you can change your email address.
Start here, change your country if necessary and go to manage your account.

  • What are the incoming and outgoing settings to set up freeserve email accounts on ipad2

I have an Ipad 2 and am trying to set up email from an old Freeserve account in the UK, I have set this up and can receieve emails but cant send emails.

After many, many, frustrating hours trying to set this up on my Dad's iPad, I think I have found a solution. Thought I'd share it in case anyone else was still perservering with a freeserve email address.
    It basically involved
    - setting up a pop3 account (Settings/Mail,Contacts, Calendars/Add account/Other/Add mail account) with pop.orangehome.co.uk and smtp.orangehome.co.uk as the incoming and outgoing settings
    - letting it try to 'verify' those settings (which will probably fail)
    - if asked 'Do you want to try without SSL' (or similar), click no
    - Dismiss the window which says something like 'this account may not be able to send or receive emails' and save the settings as they are.
    - Go back into the account you have just set up and there should be some more settings to fiddle with - 'SMTP' and 'Advanced'.
    - In 'Advanced', switch 'Use SSL' to off and change the Server port to 110, then go back to the previous screen
    - Click on SMTP. It will probably show the primary server as smtp.orangehome.co.uk. After fiddling around with the settings for ages I decided to see what would happen if I used a different smtp server. I had previously set up a gmail account, so I tried smtp.gmail.com. For the record, this already had my email address as the user name, my gmail password, SSL on, Authenticaion as password and port as 587. Low and behold - it worked. I'm no expert but I assume this just means it is using the gmail 'route' to send an email rather than the freeserve/orange/EE route.
If you haven't got a gmail account to use, it might be worth setting one up just for this purpose.

  • HT201320 I use my college's email address through outlook and I don't know what you use for the incoming and outgoing host?

My email is though the college where I work.  We use Outlook, and I am trying to set up my email but I am not sure what to use for my incoming and outgoing host information.

Ask your college. Most likely the same settings as you have set in Outlook.
