Incoming Calls Using my contact?

Since I started using my iPhone 4S and Siri I've encountered a strange behavior  when getting a call from my home or work. I have  a contact card for my home and my work that each have their own ringtone, picture, etc. In addition I have those numbers listed for Siri under my contact card. Prior to my 4S when I would get a call from home or work I would see/hear the correct picture and ringtone, but now when I get a call from those numbers I see my picture and the dafult ringtone that I have assigned to my contact card. I'm just not sure exactly why it's hapening but I think it must have something to do with my Siri info.

I have friends all over Europe, does it matter what number they use to call me? Nope! All incoming calls are free for me.
The only time you ever have to worry about which number is if you get charged for incoming domestic/international calls.
You can tag their number (work/home/iphone) and that may show on the CallerID accordingly.
It should show, John Doe
underneath,    work/home/mobile

  • How I can hang up an incoming call using the IO7 ?

    I'm using the IPhone 5 , and updated to software iOS 7  ; V 7.0.2
earlier in the previous iOS6, i was able to hang up an incoming call while the screen was locked. But now i can't. The only thing possible is just mute the ringing tone.
Is it possible in the iO7 to hang up an incoming call ?

Tap the Sleep/Wake button to silence the call, a double tap sends the call straight to Voicemail.

  • Able to schedule when incoming calls use ringer or vibrate only?

I'm planning on getting a Pearl 8120 as soon as my discount kicks in at T-Mobile, and there's a feature I'm really hoping it has or that there's an app that'll do it for me.  I'd like to be able to schedule when incoming phone calls notify me with vibrate only and when they use an audible ring tone.  Something like: 8am-10am vibrate only, 10am-2pm ringer on, 2pm-5pm vibrate only, 5pm-8am ringer on, etc.,  A weekend vs weekday mode would be great also.  Is this possible?  I didn't see anything about in the pdf manual, but I'm still hoping.
    Thanks.

    Thanks anyway, teddana.
For future searchers, I did find two that would do it, but there's a catch to them.  Due (according to them) Blackberry's built-in security, neither can make the changes while the keyboard is locked.  If the keyboard is locked at a time when you've scheduled a change from vibrate to audible ringer (or vice versa), they'll notify you by vibrating the phone that it is time to make the change, but the user has to unlock the phone momentarily to allow the change to be made.
They are Toysoft's Profiler and the other one is called Profile Scheduler.

  • Incoming calls from one contact goes directly to voicemail

We recently updated my mother-in-law's phone and had the contact list transferred at a Verizon store. We later learned that one of her contacts was being sent directly to her voicemail even though her phone was on she wasn't talking to anyone else. We noticed when that contact called, her phone would briefly display her name and then would display the Verizon logo like it had reset. Tech support couldn't help me and tried to forward my support call to someone else, but all the support lines were busy and I got tired of waiting on hold.
The solution we came up with was to delete that contact info and then re-enter it. That solved the problem. Evidently there was some glitch in the data when the contact list was transferred.

Thanks for sharing your solution - it may help someone else! And it looks like it was simple to do, and effective. Have a great week!

  • Can iPhone 6 announce the name of incoming caller? Help!

I have an iPhone 6 Plus 64 GB.  Running iOS 8.0.2 (latest version at time of post).
Is there any way for me to change my incoming ringtone from "default" to "announce the incoming callers name".  Instead of an actual ring EX: "Incoming call from "dad" (contact name)"
I have looked through 3rd party apps and other forums.  This technology is archaic, so I am sure there must be some way that it can be done.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Travis

As Allan mentioned, custom ringtones allow for this.
"9,999 Ringtones Uncensored" allows you to create any message which you then assign to a specific contact. Examples: "Hank is calling," "Hank Smith is calling," "It's your spouse," or whatever you like. The customization is nice, but creating one for each contact is tedious. I use this app, and created about a half dozen or so just for family and close friends. Others get generic tones assigned to them. This app also has a variety of voices to choose from such as funny, robotic, etc.
Bear in mind, in public anyone around you may hear who's calling also. "Mom's calling." Hope this helps.

  • How do I get my contact's photos to display full screen for incoming calls?

I noticed today that when I get an incoming call it no longer displays "full screen".  I keep missing calls because it now only displays as a banner at the top of the screen that someone is calling and their photo (if I've assigned one to them) is a tiny thumbnail.
Did I only just notice now that this is another 'great upgrade' with the new IOS, or is this some weird glitch with my phone?  I've been wondering how I've been missing calls in the past week, but just happened to catch it today after I had been using the new map app and wasn't sure if it was just a coincidence or if it's somehow connected..?
Is there any way to change this or am I stuck with it this way??

I've never added my contact on my computer, I've always done it through my phone (I didn't know you could do it through the computer).  The problem is not the photo, it's that the call doesn't come in and take up the full screen.  Now when a call comes in, it displays as a banner at the top of the phone where the time and date normally would be, so I don't notice anyone's phoning.
As far as I can recall, it's only started happening since yesterday after I used the new map app.  I've checked my notifications settings and the phone settings and so far as I can see, everything is set the same way it always was.  I checked my hubby's phone to see if it's maybe something new since this last update to IOS6, but the call displays full screen (regardless whether the contact has a photo associated to it or not) and not a banner at the top of the screen like mine.
I still don't know how to change this back.  Any other suggestions?

  • Contact names not showing up for incoming calls!

Seems to be a reacuring problem for Blackberry. Ive done a search for this on here and there doesnt seem to be a solution for the other devices. Like the titel states, when I have an incoming call it shows just the phone number, not the persons contact name, which is saved in my devices contacts list. I have a brand new Blackberry Passport. Just wondering if there is any fix for this?? This is a big problem for me. Don't have many contacts numbers memorized as Im sure most people dont nowadays.

    Hi @svansoros
I've unable to reproduce this issue after testing so I was wondering if you don't mind doing a few tests for me followed by capturing logs so our teams can investigate? To do this you'll need access to two phone lines.
    LineA = Your Passport
    LineB = Another phone line
On your Passport, create a new contact entry that contains LineB's phone number, e.g. 123-456-7890 and the contact name 'Test Test'
Using LineB, call your Passport and record what appears on your display, does it show the phone number or 'Test Test'? Record what time you called your Passport as well.
On your Passport, change the formatting of the phone number in the 'Test Test' contact to 1234567890 and call your passport again using Line B. Record the time you placed the call and what was displayed 'Test Test', or the phone number only.
After completing these steps, capture logs using the steps below and send them via email to the email address I'll send you via private message. Thanks for your patience and understanding!
    How to capture logs
    Open the Help application.
Swipe down from the top of the screen and tap Create Report.
    Tap the Snapshot tab
Tap the Save Log Snapshot button.
Once the capture is complete, the device prompts to Upload Logs. Click No when this prompts appears .
The notification message closes and the log collection screen is displayed.
The Log Snapshots are automatically saved and can be found on the device memory in the Logs folder under Device\Documents\
Send the logs as a attachment to the email address I'll provide via private message.

  • BB will not Display Incoming Calls Contact Info

    Hi there,
I am a new user to the Black Berry world, and have encountered a problem I hope can be fixed.
I have 84 contacts in my Adress Book in my Black Berry 8900, all with 10 digit phone numbers linked to each.
I do not pay for caller ID through Rogers Canada (Just to let you know).
The problem I am having is that, when one of my contacts call me, even though I have there phone number in my contact list their name or picture does not appear. I simply get a pop up saying Incoming Call Unknown Number...
I've done some searching online and found that in some other black berries people had this fixed by turning off their content protection in secruity>General settings> Content Protection.
This however did not work for my phone.
I have had a Sony Ericsson W580i which was capable of doing this simple feature from over a year ago and was on the Rogers service for that phone too.
I just got off the phone with Rogers and they are claiming that without Caller ID it is impossible to do this simple feature on a Black Berry.
Hope I can have my issue solved here!
    Thanks in advance!
    Nick

Well, unless I'm missing it, none of those posts referred to not having the CallerID service provisioned on the line...rather, they seemed to be discussing getting callerID to display from contacts in the device address book versus the SIM. Personally, I have no use for my SIM...I'm on VZW, though...not sure if other devices or other carriers can handle a BB with no SIM. Probably not.

  • Contact photos do not display on incoming calls

when I receive a call from someone in my contact list, their photo no long shows up on the incoming call. It used to show up, but stopped some time in the last few days.
Any clue on how to get it back? Thanks.

    Hey ronss,
Thanks for the question. Some features have changed with the iOS 7.1 update. Do your contact pictures still show in a small circle on the incoming call screen? as outlined in this image:
    Apple - iOS 7 - Update
    http://www.apple.com/ios/ios7-update/
If so, this is expected behavior with the iOS 7.1 update. If not, check to make sure that your contacts still have pictures associated with their contact cards.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • My phone displays numbers instead of contact names for incoming calls and text - how do I fix?

My phone displays numbers instead of contact names for incoming calls and text - how do I fix?  It used to display the names if there was a contact listed, now it just shows numbers regardless of whether or not the number corresponds to a contact name in the contact list.  Can anyone help?  I googled this problem and lots of folks have experienced it, however there is not a consensus for a resolution.

Alexandribill, I have been having the exact same issue.  I got a new phone and restored my contacts.  If the # doesn't have the area code first then the name isn't shown.  I just added my husbands area code to my phone and called my phone from his and now his name shows up...Ugh, I have to go through and manually add the area code to all my contacts....
I'd say Verizon needs to rewrite their program to include the area code in the restoring from backup process!

  • How to show company name and contact name on the incoming calls of iPhone 4

Kindly provide me with a useful solution of how to show company name and contact name on the incoming calls of iPhone4.
even with an application or from the setting of the iPhone itself, but without telling me a solution like writting the company name in the contact name field.
This is a very important option, i think it is a must, not an option and apple should fix this problem fastly. because it is already available in the older models of iPhone like iPhone 3G and 3GS.
How an important feature like this could be available in old models, but in the later models is not available?

Currently not possible without putting the company name in the contact name's field.  AFAIK, it's never been available on any iOS version.
You might check the App Store for an app that can do this although I'm pretty sure you won't find one.

  • Incoming call shows Name - work/mobile/home of deleted contacts !!

    hi all,
i have iphone with firmware 1.1.3
I was trying to add a contact while on a call- a feature unavailable in 1.1.3
while doing so, all my contacts were deleted and I did not sync with my computer.
THough I do not have a contact in my contacts list, if one of my old contact calls me, his name is correctly displayed with work/home/mobile information.
This means data is still there but not accessible nor visible? Has anyone encountered such an issue ?
Trying to sync with computer does not show contacts that were "deleted"
Any ideas to fix? Else i will upgrade phone firmware.
    Thanks
    Rajas

I agree that I have old firmware and I should upgrade. Would the update restore my deleted contacts? I do not have unlocked phone or any Non-apple apps.
I Added a contact with home and mobile#. I then deleted the home# and called my cell from the same deleted home#. The incoming call stil shows the correct information "Name - Home". This means the data is available somewhere in the phone but not visible.
I tried to do a sync using iTunes 7.7.1 or latest. It only shows me Contacts that I added recently after all my contacts were erased. But when i get calls from those who were in my Contact list, I still see their names poping up when the call comes in and more over it identifies which phone they are calling from home/work/mobile/other. How is that ?
    Thanks
    Rajas

  • Display both company AND name in contacts, incoming calls, messages, etc

Is there no way to have both a person's full name, AND company appear on the display of contacts and incoming calls??
I have over 2,000 contacts in my address book, many from the same company, and many with the same (or similar) names.
When someone with a very common name calls or texts, it's impossible for me to remember who they are without listing their company as well. If I have both Sam Michaels and Samantha Mitchells in my address book, sometimes the only way to distinguish between the two is knowing that Sam works for Viacom and Samantha works for Universal.
I've heard that the only way to do this is to include the company name in the person's main "name" field. This is problematic because A) it would take me a million years to go through and personally edit all of my 2k+ contacts, and B) this is completely counter-intuitive of having the company/office/job title lines available as fields in the address book in the first place.
Does anyone know a way around this at all?? Apple really needs to find a way to fix this, as it's super inconvenient for business professionals. This is just another one of my many frustrations with Apple products being not intuitive for workers in the corporate world.

I'm not aware of a way to do this, however I'm certain that when my phone rings, it shows the person's name and company information that I have written in contacts. I've not taken time to check lately, but that seems to be the case for contacts that have a company name in them. Ones that do not have a company name show the person's name and then the label for the phone number they are using, such as home, work, mobile, etc.
Otherwise, feedback to Apple goes HERE, and then just click on the appropriate subject.

  • Incoming calls are not finding contact records

I just upgraded phones from a 3GS to a 4S. The contact records transferred over and call history did as well.
But the call history and incoming calls only show the number, they do not show the contact information. In the contact record, the phone numbers are missing the phone formatting, the () around the area code, etc.
I tried opening the record and saving it to see if it would add the formatting. It didn't. I really don't want to type in each phone number again.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Andy,
I just resolved this problem and I think I have the fix for you. First, when you upgraded from the 3GS to the 4S, did you switch carriers (from AT&T to Verizon for example)? I did and had the same problem you are experiencing. Here is the fix:
    1. If you are using Verizon, open the Phone app and dial *228. You will be connected with Verizon's programming system. When prompted, press "1" for "Program or Activate Your Phone".
    2. You will have to wait listening to music while the system upgrades your programming. Wait until the system says something like "Your settings or programming have been updated". Then disconnect the call.
    3. Open the iPhone Task Manager (double tap the "Home" button). Make sure that you see the Message, Phone and Contact applications. If you don't see one of those apps, go back and open them in the main menu screen.
    4. In the Task Manager, press your finger on one of those three apps (Contacts, Phone, Messages) until all the apps start to jiggle. Delete the Messages, Contacts and Phone apps (don't worry, they are still on your phone).
    5. Wait about three minutes, then go back to the Main Menu screen and open the Messages app. Everything should be fine. As it will be in the Contacts app.
That's it! Worked for me. Hope for the same with you.
    Stefan
