Incoming emails going to junk folder instead of inbox

i I have an iPad and every time my sister emails me it goes into the junk folder instead of the inbox. Is there a setting I need to change?

Just move the message back to your inbox and her emails won't appear in "Junk" anymore. You probably confused "Trash" with "Junk".

  • Almost all incoming emails going to junk folder

I've been using Thunderbird for a few months now with very few glitches. However, suddenly, it is putting almost all my incoming emails into the junk folder. I believe my junk settings are appropriately set. I have attached a screen shot of them. What I am doing wrong?

Just to verify that its TB and not the server that moves the mail into junk, change destination of your junk to a local junk-folder.
Then also disable adaptive junk mail control temporarily. To see if this is causing it.

  • Incoming mail going to trash folder instead of inbox

About 20% of my new emails are deposited in the trash folder instead of my inbox.
    How can I prevent this?

Your slow computer could be caused by a number of problems such as memory, hardware, or software issues. It isn't related to the problem you had with Mail.
First, I suggest you open Disk Utility and repair permissions on your boot volume. Then verify if the hard drive is OK, or does it show problems.
Restart the computer and see if you still have problems.
If so, I would just advise you to post a new discussion describing this problem so others with better knowledge could help you to figure out the problem.
Search google or these discussions on Slow Computer with Yosemite. There are many discussions on this already. You might also look into downloading EtreCheck and providing that information in your post. It will gather information from your computer to allow others to look and analyze what you have that could be causing issues.

  • EMOD Emails going into Junk Folder

I created an email campaign in EMOD, targetting 330 customers. Just to be on the safe side, I also added myself as a recipient on the list. The emails went out successfully as scheduled, but I noticed that instead of the inbox my email has gone directly into the Outlook Junk folder.
The email was designed so that it is sent FROM a person's email address, but any REPLY-TO go into a generic email account for an internal team to monitor. Also, the email does not have the (bhd-bounce etc...) as this was removed by Customer Care.
Can someone please explain how I can avoid the emails going into Junk Folder? I am concerned that our customers will not see the email, or that the Response Status for this campaign will not reflect true results.
    Please advise.

    Hi CRMwise,
I could not understand what this means:
If you need to white list for your company the information below should help:
    mail-11.crmodmail.com (141.146.155.148)
Did you follow up with Oracle to find out how to whitelist your emails?
Oracle claims that they take extra care to ensure that mails sent from their server are whitelisted. However, I guess that would not stop the individual email address mentioned in the From field from getting blacklisted.
Do share your experience how you mange to resolve this issue. Here is an interesting link I came across:

  • How can I get junk e-mail to go directly to junk folder instead of inbox?

All of a sudden I am getting a lot of e-mails that I do not want and consider junk. I want them to go directly to my junk folder instead of my inbox. Ideally I would just like to eliminate them totally.

Firefox is only a browser. You must contact your e-mail provider.
Check the security settings for your account.

  • Emails going into "Junk" folder

The default junk folder is called "Junk Email" however this one user has  "Junk" folder above that in which only emails that he receives from linkedin.com go in there. My first thought was that he has a rule sorting linkedin.com emails
into that folder but after checking local and server side rules there are none with that criteria that exist.
Next since that's not a default folder, I said let's permanently delete the "Junk" folder and see what happens. Sure enough the next email he received from linkedin.com created a new "Junk" folder and sorted that email in there.
    How can this be happening?
The user wants to keep the filtering on the low setting and we have already whitelisted linkedin.com.
I want to know how come there are two junk folders, one called "Junk" and the default "Junk Email" folder. Typically there is only the second one
How this mail is being routed in there because there are no rules that specify any mail to go into that folder.
Maybe there is a hidden rule I am not seeing. Possibly going to try OUTLOOK.EXE  /cleanrules /cleanserverrules after hours and then re-create his existing rules.

I think it's the galaxy - seems to be an issue with samsung:

Go into Settings, General Settings, Spam and remove addresses that should not be spam.

    What folder?
    Who is the email provider?

  • TS3899 Email safe senders going to junk folder

How to stop safe senders from going to the junk folder?

Change the Junk filter options via the email provider's website.  Or, some email providers, if you move a message from junk to inbox, will auto-detect that you're 'trusting' that email address.

Please post an image of the filter.
re :Such messages never get to my filter unless I do something like "run filters" on the junk window.
So the message is auto moved to Junk before your filters are applied.
If the message is in Junk then your filter will not work because filters only work automatically on new messages in the Inbox.
    Check your filter.
It must say 'Filter before junk classification'.
Also, as in my previous response, you must set up your Junk Controls correctly, so that email addresses in selected address books are set as a whitelist. For this to apply to that particular email address, you must have that email address in a selected address book.

  • Wrong email sent to Junk Folder

I have a friend whose email is aways put in the Junk Folder. I've clicked on NotJunk at least 10 times now and his emails still go to Junk Folder. He's in my Address Book, even added him to the Address Book directly from his email. He's also in my Previous Recipients lists.
This has only been happening since I upgraded to Tiger. In Panther his emails were delivered to the correct mailbox.
Any idea how I can get his email delivered to my main mailbox?
    Thanks,
    Doug

In a word NO! several of us are haviing very similar problems, especially since upgrading to 10.4.4.
I got round this by 'training' on JUNK, keep messagges in INBOX instead of sending junk to the junk box, as then I just read all of the messages.
if you read several of the other topics here we are having similar problems.
Something strange is going on but they seem to be denying it.
sorry this is not any more help. but at least you know you are NOT ALONE
Lets hope it gets sorted by somemone soon, instead of saying it is our fault with settings etc.
BTW I am not intending this as inflammatory I am just so frustrated and i have been using my iMac since Oct 2002 and never had these problems before.
    Best of LUCK

  • I have mail going to junk folder, that is not marked as junk

I have been using mac for almost a year and I starte dusing the mail app that comes with the os, I have sevral email accounts on it, some mail that has never been marked as junk is going to the junk folder and when i click on the junk icon it markes it as junk click on it again and unmarks it as junk then i transfer it to inbox but the next email will go to junk, this is happaning with some email from people i dont have in my adress book, and emails from twitter and facebook. is there a way i can mark certain senders as safe? for it to go into the inbox instead of junk?
    please let me know
    many thanks
    Jason

Can't you turn it off completely?
I ave not much experience with spam/junk handling in Mail. I am not sure whether marking a mail as spam/junk it will be remembered always. There are third party spamfilters that you can install. I do not use them.

  • Mail Going to Junk Folder that is Not Junk

I have mail that is going to my junk folder that is not junk.  When I look at the "thumb" symbol for the mail, the thumb is down, meaning that it doesn't think it is junk either.  Even when I turn my "Enable Junk Mail Filtering" off in Preferences, the mail still goes to junk.  No idea how to fix this.  It seems like a glitch!

Thank you Nubz N. and BobHarris for your feedback on the issue.  I had actually already tried resetting my junk settings in Apple Mail and had no success, and trust me BobHarris, I was not using the Junk key as the delete key.
It turned out that I had to go directly to the email source's website, which in this case was Gmail, and change my junk settings there.  Apple Mail was perceiving the incoming mail as "Not Junk", but because Gmail was viewing it as junk, it was still going to my Apple Mail junk folder.  I'm not sure why Gmail was viewing it as junk, as I had never clicked junk before.  Anyway, after changing the junk settings there at Gmail, the filter has now been working properly again.

  • Junk not going to Junk folder

Ok. I keep getting all messages marked as junk that actually are not being sent to the Junk folder. They just sit in whichever mailbox they came to. I have the junk settings enabled and set to send it to the junk mailbox (automatic). But for whatever reason, nothing ever goes to the junk mailbox. Any ideas on what I can do?
    Thanks

There is probably some corruption in one or more of the files used by the junk filter. The following procedure thoroughly gets rid of all those files, so that Mail creates them anew:
    1. Quit Mail if it's running.
    2. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Mail/.
    3. Locate LSMMap2 and move it to the Trash. This file stores information about what does and doesn't constitute junk, and is what allows the junk filter to learn. Clicking the Reset button in Preferences > Junk Mail also deletes LSMMap2. The file was called just LSMMap in early versions of Mail, delete that as well if you see it.
    4. Locate DefaultCounts and move it to the Trash. This file keeps statistics about the number of messages that have been marked as junk, either automatically by the junk filter or manually by the user.
    5. Locate MessageRules.plist and/or MessageSorting.plist and move it to the Desktop. This is where Mail stores all the rules, including those used by the junk filter. The former is used by Mail 2.x, the latter by Mail 1.x. There is probably also a MessageRules.plist.backup and/or MessageSorting.plist.backup file there; move it to the Desktop too.
    6. Look for the account folders. The name of each account folder starts with the account type (POP, IMAP, Mac), followed by the account username and the incoming mail server. Open each of the account folders, locate the Junk.mbox or Junk.imapmbox folder within it, and move it to the Trash if present.
    7. Go to ~/Library/Mail/Mailboxes/. Locate any Junk.mbox mailboxes there (their name may include the account name in parenthesis), and move them to the Trash.
Note: Messages in Junk mailboxes with an .mbox suffix are stored locally and will be lost forever as a result of doing steps 6 and 7. If there is a chance that you have legit messages there that you want to preserve, either move the messages to another mailbox in Mail first, or move the Junk.mbox to the Desktop (to be imported back later) instead of to the Trash. Junk mailboxes with an .imapmbox suffix aren't a concern because they are stored on the server and Mail will rebuild them automatically.
    8. Open Mail. As a result of removing the rules file, the junk filter will be disabled now. You may want to either tell Mail to go offline immediately after opening it, or shut down the Internet connection before opening Mail, to prevent it from downloading anything until the junk mail filter has been enabled again.
    9. Go to Mail > Preferences > Junk Mail, enable junk filtering, and configure it however you wish.
    10. Go online again if you went offline in step 8.
If the above solves the problem and you don't have any rules you'd like to preserve or recreating them is not a daunting task, just trash the rules files that were moved to the Desktop and be done with it.
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user's home folder. You can easily locate any of the folders referred to in this post by copying the file path here, doing Go > Go to Folder in the Finder, and pasting the file path there.
