Incoming high school student: MacBook Air 13 in. or MacBook Pro 13 in.?

Which one is a better school computer, for instance, for battery life, performance, portability, space etc. I have heard certain things about them but I am not sure if they are true. Anyone have one of these and would like to share their experiences? Thank you very much.

Depends on how you are going to use it. If you'd like something fast, thin, light and runs cool and quiet then go with an MBA. If you don't mind the weight and a slower boot time but want to have the option of being able to open it up yourself to add a larger HDD or RAM, then go with an MBP. It's all really preference...

I just took SHSAT and my mother promise me that I will get one that I wish if I get in. I did not want to waste that wish and use it on others wastable stuff. So I was thinking that Apple device would make great studying for me in High School. I have iMac but Macbook air is portable and ipad is portable. Both of them are really good. The instant on and fast response of an iPad, but has the full size keyboard, full OS X and expandablity of a Mac computer.
The MacBook Air is almost as light as an iPad, but is much more flexible.

Creative Cloud is available as trial version for 30 days and almost all creative software is bundled with the Creative Cloud. Tutorials are included for each of the products on the respective sections of the website. Discount for High school students

I think it's really cool that college students get discount for spotify but it would be great if high school students could get the same thing , it would be amazing to being playing music wherever we want for a low price and since I find spotify better than pandora. $5 is extremely affordable for high school students and a lot would sign up for that price if that was an option

I am 17 and currently attending highschool as a senior.
I agree 100% $9.99 per month is kind of steep when you have a $9.10 /h job and paying for gas/insurance/food/housing/etc... I don't have anything handed to me at all. Sure my parent's will buy me a see's candy once in a while, but I am paying for most of my things now. My job pays for ~~ 90% - 95% of my necesities. that would leave me short.
Here is a pitch:
Mind of a teenager ~ 10 dollars per month would add up to 120$ per year I use this.... that's a problem.

Honestly I would garentee you my 5$ per month if I had access to premium. $10 is just too much.
I can tell you that I know many highschoolers who would agree with my point and say that the sales would be exponential.

I would expect (based on comments and suggestions from friends and information of who I know as a highschool would also subscribe) expecting 30,000 highschoolers per small state and 50,000 highschoolers per large state.
currently to me it seems only 5,000 or 10,000 highschoolers per state own spotify. (most people lie about information on "free sites")

The back to school promotion is for college students or teachers of any grade. The easiest way of thinking about it is that you have to be 18 to take part in pretty much any sort of sales promotion. That rules out most high school students.

I am an animation teacher and we might have to switch from teaching a 3D program to teaching Flash. Is this a valid program to teach high school students animation? Is this only used for gaming or is it also used in the animation world? Any recommended website references?

flash is not a 3d modeling program.
it can be used to create 2d animation and to display 3d animation.
because of its animation capabilities, it can be used to create web, desktop and mobile games. because of its support for a programming language (actionscript), it can be used to create web, desktop and mobile applications.
and, my guess, is most games and apps use some programming and some of the drawing tools in flash.

I wrote a Workbook for my high school students. Students do not have internet Cloud at home. How do I save to CD?

The majority of them have a laptop or PC at home
and do not have the internet.
My Book files, PDF were moved from my computer to the Cloud by Acrobat.
I am NOT ABLE to save my PDF book files on my computer, flash drive
or CD.
I want give each students a PDF copy of my workbook on a CD. They do not
have internet access at home to view from the cloud. I want each student
to have my workbook PDF files saved to their personal computer.

THere should be no problem storing pdfs on a C D. Are uou able to make CDS with other stuff, or is making Cds new to you? What happens when you try.

Pros and cons of the macbook air and the macbook pro

I was unable to figure out what software package you meant by Antidote. There are several.
Word, of course, is part of MS Office, and they make a Mac OS version. I use Office 2011 daily.
None of these products are likely to tax the hardware of either of the computers you mention at all. The computer will be spending most of its time waiting for your daughter to do something.
Note - my neice just bought a MacBook Air 11". She is entering the University of South Carolina in the fall and is absolutely thrilled with the computer.

No, the MacBook Air power adapter is a 45 watt. A MacBook needs at least a 60 watt power adapter although you can use a MacBook Pro 85 watt adapter. You can use a higher wattage adapter without any problems.

I recently bought a haswell series 13" macbook air exactly 1 week before the introduction of the new haswell macbook pros. After considering the spec and price difference I realized I'd rather have the pro. I looked on the returns tab on the website. It said I can return my product within 14 days. Is it possible for me to exchange my air for the pro without having to go through returning my macbook air and buying the pro? I realized the price difference wasn't all that differernt and I wouldn't mind the extra power. I currently have the 13" macbook air i5 with 8gb. I strongly doubt it. The best thing for you to do is to return this one before the 14 days expire. If the time passes you will have to keep the Air and try to sell it privately.
Once Apple accepts the Air back and you know you are getting a refund you can start the order process for the Pro.

I don't think so, because this is not about garageband specificaly, it's about the mac using internal speakers and iphone headset microphone at the same time. Input Microphone via Jack and Output speakers on the laptop.

if you are going to be just browsing the web and doing lite video editing and not that intensive stuff than you should go with the Macbook Air.
Also if you want a cheaper computer than you should get the Macbook Air. By cheap, I mean less expensive.
