Incoming mail delayed one hour

Hello all,
Since day one of running ML Server, some mail from outside the LAN is always delayed exactly one hour before it gets delivered. Ironically it's always mail from Apple. Mail from anywhere else never has a problem. Any thoughts on what this might be...?
Thanks!

This sounds like grey listing?
See this thread for how to disable:
https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4144298?start=0&tstart=0
Although, disabling may be a little severe. There should be info somewhere on here about white listing domains too.

  • Receive email delay one hour using Mac Mail client (Mountain Lion) connect Exchange Server 2010

    Hi all,
My boss use iPhone, iPad, MacBook Air (Mac Mail client), MacPro (Mac Mail client) connect Exchange Serve 2010 to receive emails. All clients are okay except MacBook Air, the Mac Mail client cannot receive the latest emails from Exchange Server, but it can receive (sync) the emails after one hour. The other clients can receive the latest email after Exchange Server receive new emails immediately.
In this period, the MacBook Air can receive the other IMAP, POP3 and webmail from ISP normally. I tried to set 5 mins to check emails or manual check email from Exchange Server. However, the latest email still delay one hour.......... .
I dumped a screenshot for Mac Mail setting for Exchange Server and a Log file.
could anyone help me to solve this issue?
    Thanks

I am not sure what the user has the check for new messages set for but mail does arrive as short as 2 minutes.  It does however arrive on his iphone immediately first.

  • How do I get incoming mail in one of my mailboxes unstuck.  It will not download any mail in one box but the other mailbox works fine

How do I get incoming mail in one of my mailboxes unstuck??  It is trying to download it but seems jammed.  The other mailbox is working fine.  I know there is mail there because it is coming into my bb.  This just started this morning.  I took someone's suggestion and duplicated my mail from the library and I then put com.apple.mail.plist on my desktop.  I was unable to delete the incoming mail from the mailbox however so don't know what to do.
    Help?

Try this: If this is Apple Mail, select the Mailbox, then from the Mail Menu>Mailbox>Rebuild.

  • Incoming mail delay

For the last few weeks, I have experiencing delays in getting my mail.
In some cases, it has taken up to 6 hours for a message to arrive in my inbox. This has caused problems for me as people think I'm not replying to their messages.
I've tried to test it and tried to identify a pattern, but it seems random. Some emails arrive immediately others take 20 or thirty minutes, while others take hours...
    Help.
Note: This is a very recent problem. It only started happening in recent weeks and I've been a mac.com user for several years.
    Thanks,
    R

How do I check the server status?
This can be caused by a temporary problem at the .Mac
incoming mail server but all blame may not rest
    there.
There can be a delay between various servers the
message takes on its way to the final destination. As
I'm sure you are aware, messages don't take a
straight line from the sender's SMTP server to the
recipient's incoming mail server. If there is a
temporary problem anywhere between the sender's SMTP
server and the incoming mail server including a
possible problem with the incoming mail server when
messages arrive, there will be delays.
Have you checked .Mac status/server information when
checking your .Mac account online using webmail
    access?

  • Incoming mail of one account doesn't appear in inbox

Even though mail tells me that by now more than 30 messages have come in,I can't see anything in the inbox. Probably I have managed to trash something i shouldn't, but what?
I use three accounts, and of two accounts the incoming mails are visible, but my main account is not.
I have tried to throw away some preferences, I've been reentering all the account information, but it didn't work. Nothing appears in the inbox of this one account.
(Now I started to use thunderbird, and I can read my incoming mail. But I'm quite used to my mail configuration, and i like it.)
    Who can help???

Is your main account a POP type account?
If so, using the Finder go to Home > Library > Mail > this POP account named folder (named by the user name and incoming mail server for the account).
Confirm there is an INBOX.mbox named folder as shown.

  • Yahoo.verizon sent e-mail delayed for hours before being delivered. HELP!

I have been using Entourage, on my Mac, as my mail application for years without a problem. During the past week I started to notice that my e-mails were not being answered. Upon further investigation I learned that my e-mails were not being delivered until several hours after I had sent them. This afternoon I sent a dozen e-mails to myself and everyone took nearly five hours to be delivered to me.
My verizon mail service is yahoo.verizon. I have checked all of my settings and they are correct. My outgoing SMPT server is outgoing.yahoo.verizon.net and set to port 587. When sending an e-mail with Entourage the e-mail are sent without a hitch. They simply aren't being delivered by yahoo.verizon for hours later. They apparently arrive at yahoo.verizon and then get trapped there for hours!
What is causing my e-mails to be delayed? Is it a Verizon issue? A Yahoo.verizon issue? It does not appear to be an Entourage issue as I've not changed any of my settings.
IF I send an e-mail using yahoo.verizon on my web browser, the e-mail is delivered almost immediately.
I would contact verizon by phone if I could speak with someone in the U.S.A. that could help me, but I don't have three hours to be on the phone with someone overseas.
Can anyone help me with this problem????

Was contacted this morning by a nice gent from the Verizon Operation Support Center (OSC).  As of yesterday, this is now a known issue.  Verizon learned in discussion with Yahoo yesterday that they are working on email servers to swtich to a new webmail format.  They did not believe that their work would cause any disruption in service, but oviously it is.  Unfortunately, no committment as to when this issue will be resolved.  I don't expect Yahoo to slack off on a committment for resolution.  There is an option to have Verizon switch from Yahoo email support of your Verizon.net email account back to Verizon email servers.  You can contact tech support to do this.  I am going to hang in there for another week in hopes that this issue goes away.  I like the ability to use Yahoo's webmail to read both my Verizon and Yahoo email accounts.

  • Incoming mail has suddenly stopped on Z10

After working great for over a week, my Z10 not longer is getting incoming mail for one account.
    Account/problem details:
    - Paid Gmail for Business
    - ActiveSync
    - I can send email fine from this account on Z10 and the sent message appears in hub
    - I don't receive any email sent to this address
    - Calendar appears to also not be syncing (push or pull)
    - Looks like this problem has been ongoing since yesterday afternoon (Feb 20)
A seperate IMAP account on the Z10 continues to work properly.
Anyone else have this problem? I don't really want to delete and re-add my ActiveSync account on the Z10 because I'll have to re-link contacts...

How about a batt-pull reboot? I doubt honestly that it will make a difference...but, well, we do need to try everything...
And, you've already gone back and forth between PUSH and PULL, so you've already done that bit. I have noticed from time to time that my GMail accounts (standard free @gmail, not hosted domain) sometimes also just stop receiving...but it also seems to just start up again, with no real action on my part.
I have concerns about the ActiveSync implementation on BB10, and this may well be yet another symptom concerning that situation...sadly, I'm not "inside", so can't really know anything for sure.
The only thing left I can think of is what you don't want to do -- removal and reintegration of the account. But, if my suspicions are correct, the behavior may well resurface anyway...so if you require absolute reliability, you may be better off integrating differently (either IMAP or POP).
    Good luck!

Jailbreaking violates the Apple warranty and licensing agreement and voids ALL support from Apple.  No one on here can help you as doing so is a violation of the Terms of Use of these Communities.  If you send the iPad to Apple they will just send it back to you as they are not permitted to work on a machine that has been jailbroken.

  • Delayed incoming mail issue

I'm having a problem with incoming mail being delayed (selectively) to my wife's iPad.  Yesterday, for instance I sent an email to my wife (same provider, different account).  On our home PC (Outlook 2007), the mail arrived immediately, as it did on my Android phone and my wife's Blackberry.  It arrived on her iPad almost exactly 12 HOURS later.  It seems to be random.  Any thoughts?  The iPad was on the whole time and other emails were being received apparently on time.  It seems like it can't be a provider problem, since the emails were received right away on 3 different devices.
I can't see a pattern as to why certain emails get delayed a long time.  It's a 64GB iPad with retina display - wifi and cellular.

It's most likely an email syncing issue on the iPad itself, I would definetly try to remove your wife's current email account that is linked onto the iPad and re-link it as necessary. That should refresh the login information that is used to push mail to and from accounts. It might also be a wifi issue as the iPad needs to connect to the internet in order to receive and subsequently send mail.
    1. Try removing the email account and login again.
    2. Check if the iPad is connected to the internet as it may have dropped the signal and reconnected 12 hours later.
    3. Try a system reset if the issue persists or possibly close the mail app (if it's been running) and restart the iPad as need be.
    Hope this helps!

  • Delay incoming mail os x server

    Hi all,
I have a problem running mail on OS X 10.8.3 server.
Sometimes (1 out of 5) incomming mail has a massive delay. 2, 4, sometimes 6 hours.
I checked everything and i'm out of options.
I hope someone has a solution.
    Many thanks.
    Jeroen

You can turn it off in Ternmail with the following. You may need to restart the mail server for this to take effect.
sudo serveradmin settings mail:postfix:greylist_disable = yes

  • I like the mail feature with one exception; I cannot figure out how to change the font size of incoming mail permanently.  And, when answering an email I have to highlight the first few words and zoom it so I can see what I am writing.  what am I missing?

I like the mail feature with one exception; I cannot figure out how to change the font size of incoming mail permanently.  And, when answering an email I have to highlight the first few words and zoom it so I can see what I am writing.  what am I missing?

You can type the email using what you set in preferences and then highlight the text and use command - minus sign (or command - + for larger) to reduce the size of the text.
You can also type command - T and a window will appear allowing you to select fonts/sizes/color/ background highlight.
The above works in Notes also. I haven't tried to do this in any other Apple application.
For incoming emails, you can use the above to reduce font size, but I don't know of a way to permanently set the incoming font size to a default.

  • Can I change the time format of incoming mails, in Mail? Now I have AM/PM, but I live in Denmark where we don't use that format. We have a 24-hour clock format i.e. 14:52 instead of 2:52 PM.

Is the time format of your Mac in 24 hour?

  • TS4069 all of a sudden i can't get incoming mail.  I can send just fine.  I deleted my account and then reintalled it; now it only shows emails going back one month and still not receiving new ones.

I cannot receive incoming mail all of a sudden on my I-Pone 4.  I deleted my comcast account and then set it up again as suggested.  Now it only loaded messages beginning one month ago; and still not receiving any new.  Any ideas?

There are only two things that I can suggest.
The first is to try the Mail Setup Assistant.
The other is giving Mozilla's Thunderbird a shot - setup the account and see if it will work with this free email app. I don't like Mail at all - and it gives some people fits around here (I don't know how many times people have posted about problems with outgoing servers using Mail).
Try both methods - I don't use Mail - I use MS's Outlook (and, before that, Entourage). If the Setup Assistant offers no relief, just try Thunderbird and see if it works with it.
    Good luck,

  • INCOMING MAIL SOUNDS DELAYED 2-3 MINUTES

I am not receiving an INSTANTANEOUS incoming mail sound alert as I have the entire time I've owned the computer. Instead, it sound alerts me 2-3 minutes after the mail is laying in the box. I NEED the instantaneous alert for my competitive business. I was 10.4.11, then performed a clean installation of Snow Leopard.
BTW, I first upgraded to Snow Leopard and had a variety of glitches. Then, I started from scratch installing a clean install. Snow Leopard is fantastic.
HOWEVER - I need to fix this one glitch. Any ideas?

Same here... but with a twist.
Very weird. I have Mail.app set to play "new mail sound" as well as other mail-even sounds.
I have some rules that route some mail to another folder (mail box). When mail comes for those, I get the sound. But for mail that stays in the inbox, no sound. The in-box is an IMAP box while the others are "local." I used to get the sound on Tiger on my old Mini.
When mail comes into in-box it is "bold" (no-read) which is correct.
I have "dock count" set for in-box only. Works fine.
I get the "woosh" when sending mail.
I've tried setting mail preferences for "play sounds" to other sounds. Same thing.
I've tried it with the mail.app showing and with it hidden. Same thing.
I've tried closing and opening mail. I've tried re-booting. Still no sound for "in-box" mail that is not "routed" to another mail box.
This is a brand new iMac with SL. Anyone have any ideas of what is going on. Maybe there is a setting I missed somewhere?
    Thanks,
    Al
