Incoming Mail Server w/ iCloud?

I number of things are odd since switching over to iCloud: In Mail's account preferences:
1)  what I have (greyed out) for Incoming Mail Server is what looks like:
p01-imap.mail.me.com  What is the "p01-"? Should that be there? Will I have to reset up iCloud via Mail manually?
2) TLS certificiate is marked as "none"?
3) And authentication (Advanced tab) is NOT password, but Token? With the box checked for "Use IDLE command if server supports it"?
4) In Outgoing Mail Server I have: "Bill's Email (iCloud)" In the list of Outgoing Servers I have: smtp.me.com:my name  and:  smtp.ma.com:my name. Are these still relevant, or can I eliminate them?

pvonk that has worked for some people but not for others.

How do I directly change the incoming mail server for icloud in Mail?  It's grayed out.
I ask this because I have suddenly stopped receiving most e-mails in Mail.  I've found that my incoming mail server (p01-imap.mail.me.com) is different from what the Apple mail setup assistant recommends (mail.me.com), but I cannot change it because it is grayed out.  Any ideas?

I'm afraid that AFAIK you've gone through the card. You could try Support, though I don't know how helpful they are likely to be.
To contact  iCloud Support: if you currently happen to have AppleCare, either because you recently bought Apple hardware or have paid to extend the inititial period, you can contact them here:
    http://www.apple.com/support/icloud/contact/
You will need the serial number of the covered hardware.
If you are not covered by AppleCare, then - in common with other free email services - there is no free support and you may be asked to pay a fee.

What is the smtp incoming mail server for iCloud?

There is no such thing as an "SMTP incoming mail server." You set up iCloud mail by checking the box marked Mail in the iCloud preference pane. You don't need to know the addresses of the servers.

  • HT2954 CAnnot change the incoming mail server for iCloud account

I cannot recieve mail because the imap setting is wrong, but I cannot highlight it to change.

Hi, was it maybe setup as a MobileMe or dot Mac account in the first place?
You cannot use .mac or MobileMe as type of Account, you have to choose IMAP when setting up, otherwise Mail is hard coded to change imap.mail.me.com to mail.me.com & smtp.mail.me.com to smtp.me.com, no matter what you try to enter.
iCloud Mail setup, do not choose .mac or MobileMe as type, but choose IMAP...
On second step where it asks "Description", it has to be a unique name, but you can still use your email address.
    IMAP (Incoming Mail Server) information:
              •          Server name: imap.mail.me.com
              •          SSL Required: Yes
              •          Port: 993
              •          Username: [email protected] (use your @me.com address from your iCloud account)
              •          Password: Your iCloud password
    SMTP (outgoing mail server) information:
              •          Server name: smtp.mail.me.com
              •          SSL Required: Yes
              •          Port: 587
              •          SMTP Authentication Required: Yes
              •          Username: [email protected] (use your @me.com address from your iCloud account)
              •          Password: Your iCloud password
Also, you must upgrade your password to meet the new criteria:  8 characters, including upper and lower case and numbers.  If you have an older password that does not meet these criteria, when you try to setup mail on your mac, using all of the IMAP criteria listed above, it will still give a server error message.  Go to   http://appleid.apple.com         then follow directions to change your password, then go back to setting up your mail using the IMAP instructions above.

All of a sudden I can not receive my icloud mail on my iMac.
I get it on my iPhone & my iPad.

On the Mac, open  > About this Mac, and tell us what OS X version you have.
If it's 10.6, modify your iCloud account in Mail manually and use "imap.mail.me.com", without quotes, as your incoming mail server.
If it's 10.7 or 10.8, close Mail, open System Preferences > iCloud, and unmark Mail. Then, mark Mail and open Mail

  • HT4864 incoming mail server wont allow me to alter info

I've upgraded to Mountain Lion & am pulling my hair out over so many things!!
All of a sudden, my iCloud mail isn't working... so I went into the account setting to see what was wrong there and found that the 'incoming mail server' box was not filled ?? why ??
Now if i want to add the correct incoming details, that box/field wont allow me to open it to enter the info !!???  So how the heck can I make the change to fix it??  Then when I want to get out of it & say 'save changes' it tells me that the 'incoming server' field cannot be left empty !! aarrgghhhhhh

This issue has been posted on several discussions, but the best answer I have receieved is to delete the account, and enter it again. We have several computers that have been updated from 10.7 to 10.8 in the house. We want to simply change the name of the mailbox, but also can not edit the Incoming Mail Server for iCloud. Deleting the mailbox, and creating it from scratch is NOT an option, since we been using it for years, and have it full of email.  Does anyone have a real option for this problem that was introduced when we upgraded from 10.7 to 10.8?
    Thank,
    Steve

It easiest way that sometimes solves the problem would be to delete your account from your Mac (system

I have tried various fixes, deleting, setting up again, setting up the iCloud and Mail/etc. in System Preferences...

    Hi Suebadu,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I know that it can be frustrating when an email account, such as your Gmail accounts, are not working as you would expect. In this situation I would recommend reading over and working through the attached article. The Connection Doctor may provide some further information as to what is causing the errors.

  • TS3988 The correct information in the email address, Full name and Incoming mail server panes are greyed out, and I can get no further in bring my iCloud a/c online. Any ideas? Thanks.

I've just updated and installed Mountain Lion. I've clicked for iCloud for Mail. The correct information in the email address, Full name and Incoming mail server panes are greyed out, and I can get no further in bring my iCloud a/c online. Any ideas? Thanks.

They are grayed out because they are automatically set up whey you check Mail in System Preferences.  If you didn't do that, go back and do so and your iCloud email account will be set up automatically.

what is the iCloud incoming mail server setting?

imap.mail.me.com - but you shoudn't need to enter this manually. If you are having problems, sign out in System Preferences>iCloud, then sign back in again and enable Mail in the checklist. Your data will disappear from your Mac when you sign out but will return when you sign back in.

You don't have to type any server info for your iCloud account.
System prefs > Mail, Contacts & Calendars - New account and select iCloud.
Unfortunately, that was step 1 in the process of not being able to use my mail in iCloud. Also, I have tried changing my password to 8 numbers/letter, etc. in accordance with the new AppleID rules, but that did not work. I have also tried deleting and recreating my account multiple times. I am definitely willing to try any more suggestions.

  • TS4002 I cannot edit my incoming mail server name under iCloud

This morning my iCloud email stopped working. When I open the Mail preferences panel and look at the iCloud account, the Incoming Mail Server is listed as "mail.example.com" and is greyed out. I cannot edit this entry to the proper iCloud server name. I can edit my user name and password, but when I try to save changes it tells me that I cannot leave the Incoming Mail Server name blank. Which wouldn't be a problem if I could, you know, change it.
This just started this morning. I noticed that Mail was asking me for passwords that have been in my Keychain for ages, and I had to manually enter them all to get to my email.
My account is working on my iOS devices.

Looked around on other threads on Apple Support and found a solution that worked for me.
        - Delete your iCloud account in Mail Preferences, Account tab.
         - Click "+" to add an account
         - Fill in your iCloud name-address-password, then hold Option key down, then click 'Continue'. Holding Option down takes you to a screen you normally don't see!
         - Change the incoming Mail Server from 'mail.me.com' to 'imap.mail.me.com'
         - Proceed creating your account.
    Try!
