Incompatibility issues when saving BW workbook in early excel versions

When saving a BW workbooks to my desktop for example so that I can then send it to a user to view the report I get incompatibility issues when saving workbook to earlier excel versions.  I am currently using 2007 and when I save the workbook to Excel 97 - 2003 then I get incompatibility messages.  If I ignore these and just save then no one is able to open the workbook.  This means that I cannot also save workbooks on the reporting system as those users not using 2007 cannot view them. The message that I get is that 'the features of this workbook are not supported by the earlier features of Excel.'

Hi,
Please refer to this note,
Note 1152092 - Error opening MS Excel 2007 workbook in MS Excel 2003
Usually when you do any formatting feature available in Excel 2007 to the workbook it would throw you the error, not sure if you are formatting the workbook.

Mani

  • Issues when saving?

    Hi All,
Is anyone else having issues when saving?
I normally save to our server and sometimes (if I've had a few heavy files open) CS6 wont save to the server 'due to a program error'. Has anyone else had this?
This is a pretty big deal for where I work because, although I save locally, I have to have my work files on our main server as well. The easiest way is to save the file straight there once I'm ready. My fear is that CS6 may crash while saving (locally or to the server) and I'll loose the work I've done.
Aside from that, I've been using CS6 for almost a week and I've found it quite an easy transistion from CS5 so far. Fingers crossed that it'll hold true when I work on more demanding images.
    Cheers.

I hope you are not using work files for PSCS6beta.....(sincere) please don't. That could cost you in revenue if there's an issue,
(it may apply) make sure you start a specific CS6beta project to test out it's features...keep all business files away until it's retail....just be safe.

  • File formatting issues when saving PDF as PPTX in Acrobat XI Pro

    Hi guys,
I have some issues when I'm saving my PDF (initially comming from InDesign) as PPTX. The format is suddenly changing, leaving a blank zone, and some of the pages are rotated.
Is it a problem comming from the Indesign or from the Acrobat options itself? I have already tried changing the chekboxes in the option box when I'm saving, but nothing worked.
If someone has an idea how to fix that, i would be very grateful! Thanks in advance

Which dot version of Acrobat XI are you currently using in your export?  Is the PDF file tagged?  If not, then you may want to tag the PDF file before exporting it.

  • Illustrator CS6 color issues when saving JPG

I have recently gotten rid of the Pantone+ color books and replaced them with the old color books, using the "Workaround 1: Replace Pantone Plus with older Pantone color books" help from Adobe. Followed all of the instrauctions and had no issues until two weeks ago. Then suddenly when saving PDFs I had to start changing the output Color Conversion to ' convert to destination'. I never had to take this extra step before. Now if I do not do this it saves some colors as black. Whatever, I got over that and take the extra step.
TODAY, now I can't even save JPGs without color issues. Some JPGs save correctly. Then I use the same color in a different file, and it saves completely different. Same color profiles, swatch options, blah blah blah.
Someone help me. I am extremely fed up with these issues. Like everyone else, this is my job and now it is making a huge impact on my work...

What program are you using to view the PDFs?

  • Images Issue when saving an illustrator file as pdf

    Hi,
I have been suffering these couple of days with the pdfs I save from my illustrator CS5 multi page file. It is a brochure that I designed using many images that I adjusted in Photoshop to CMYK & 300 dpi & embedded in ai. I used some drop shadows for some images & have some transparent vectors & gradient fills in the pages.
The pdfs I save open very normally on my pc, but the issues appear for the client. He gets some images missing in some pages (the ones that got the gradient transparency). The pages also tend not to load completely & stay blurred. He also got the “drawing error” message.
I tried to make sure all color modes are the same_ used the US web coated SWOP (default)
    He still gets missing images!
The same file I sent to a friend of mine, it opened normally! but informed me that Adobe considers the file with “special features”.
I had to export the pages to jepgs so that he gets to see the design.
I tried to flatten the gradient transparent vectors but also used the downsampling for the images when saving the pdf & used the “Zip” for compression to reduce the size… what did he get??? no images at all in all the pages.
I started seeing pdf nighmares last night :S really.
    Please help :’(
    Thanks

We all have Acrobat Professional reader 7.0.
I guess he has Windows but tried to open the file from his ipad too.

  • Memory issues when saving Excel

    All
I recently wrote a small piece of software which is collecting data at a very high frequency and for a long time. This is the first time I am attempting to do something like this and have hit an issue with memory not being enough as the size of the Excel file increased.
Excel has a limit of about 65000 rows, but I have written only ~10000 rows when the following error showed up:
I can briefly tell you how the data acquisition loop works:
    1) timed loop has a period of 1 minute.
    2) there is a sequence structure in the loop.
    3) first - a sub vi goes to agilent equipment and collects all the data
    4) second - a sub vi processes all the data into individual arrays in preparation for writing them to the excel file
    5) third - a sub vi writes all the arrays into a single Excel file (which is already open) and saves the file
    6) then the timed loop checks if the condition is met for termination of the loop. If not, then it repeats steps 3, 4, 5 above.
Possible issues that may be causing the problem:
The period of 1 minute may not be enough. I checked the size of the excel file, and it is right now 23 MB at ~10000 rows. I intend to collect about 20000 rows of data over 250 hours. Now what will happen if 1 minute is not enough to save the Excel file of size 23 MB or above? I am not familiar with timed loops, but can somebody explain will I get an error similar to above if that happens?
How can I create a functionality where the timed loop "waits"  till the Excel file is saved? I basically want the timed loop to keep counting (not stop time) but wait till file is completely saved. In that case the period of timed loop cannot be fixed to 1 minute.  Because as the size of the file increases that period has to increase too.
    Appreciate all the help.
    Thanks in advance.

    Thanks.
I am attaching the main vi of the application where the main timed loop is located. Hopefully this will help.
Could you please elaborate about buffers?
About the data acquisition freqency : I am acquiring data every minute  - and the intentiion is to do it for 250 hours at least.
    Thanks.

  • Random color issue when saving psd as jpeg

Hello, y'all. I finally got these images I'm working on to look right and they are not saving to jpeg correctly. It's very strange because at first only one of them would look right after being saved, and then I got two of them to save right, and now I have just two more before I can be done already and I just can't figure out what to do. They are flattened psd files. They are in the colorspace srgb. They are black and white. They basically look like they are not saving with the last few changes I made in photoshop. While I have them open in photoshop and save them as jpegs, they appear to be identical to the psd file. But when I go to bridge they look incorrect. Same problem as I had before with the other two files when viewing in bridge. But these last two....argh. Can anyone troubleshoot this for me? In the example screenshot, you can see the image on the left is the jpeg, and although it looks fine, it is not consistent with the psd on the right.

If you go into the Edit menu in Bridge and choose "Color Settings", are they synchronized?

  • Jam issue when saving adobe captivate 3 project

    Hi
ehen i press the record button on the captivae the progress
bar goes until de middle and stop there without moving ....
im trying to do this on a japanease windows xp with the
japanese version of the captivate 3 ...
we retry to do another captivate same issue ... we have
    enough free space ... etc...
    what could be the cause
    Thanks

Hi Vikram, I have done a number of samples, and it keeps happening.  It seems any slide with motion on it gets the grey lines.  When I'm typing, the lines are vertical.  If I'm scrolling, the lines appear horizontal.
In fact, I've had it happen numerous times over the years I've used captivate (since version 5).
I confirmed I  have version 7.0.0.118.  I checked for updates and see there is one, but I have to wait for my company's admin to run the update.  I have a feeling these lines will still be there though, as I've seen them in past versions as well.
I will certainly try the upgrade though!  I'm so desperate I will do anything!  These have been driving me crazy for two years now

  • Formatting Issues when saving\viewing in PDF

I sure hope I am in the right place....
I am using Adobe to print documents as PDF files for printing\saving.
Why does Adobe push information down to the next page leaving  an extensive blank area?
The information continues on the next page but it is also not printing the boxes out to the paper.

  • Strange quality issues when saving for web and devices.

Im a UI designer and spend lots of time working with illustrator and photohop. When I design I normally create vector mockps of my work and then export slices using artboards and save for web and devices. Yesterday Illustrator started having problems exporting files. The files look good on my computer, when viewed with pixel preview mode but when i export they look really bad. here is an example:
This is a screen shot of a part of a mobile app im working on at 100 % and 200 %
here is the same area when exported using "save for web and devices" at 100% and 200%:
as you can see there is a dramatic loss in quality. the icons look almost like a low color gif...
Here is what I have tried already:
I have tried changing the settings in the exporter. I normally use png 24 but I have tried all the different settings and they all do about the same thing. the only one that seems to look ok are swf and svg.
I have copied my files over to photoshop and exported from there. that works fine but it is a pain.
    any help would be great.

  • Font issues when saving file as a PDF

How can I update my fonts so that I can save the document as a PDF? I get an error message and a separate popup window stating 'The "HelveticaNeueLTStd-BdIt" Font is not available.' I have some cross-referencing issues going on. Can anyone help resolves these?
    Thanks

When generating a PDF, what do your PDF settings look like? If you have the "Rely on system fonts only" option selected (see screenshot), you probably do not have the font in question (HelveticaNeueLTStd-Bdlt) installed on your system.
If you are not relying on system fonts (this option is unchecked, which I don't believe is good practice), the font might not be available in FM. I don't know what version of FM you're running, but in FM10, you could try opening your file, and go to View > Pods > Fonts to display all fonts that are currently being used in your document and all instances of each font. Usually all missing fonts are replaced with "Times New Roman", so you can use the font pod to replace those instances with the correct font (if available in FM. Check Format > Font to see what fonts are available).
I would definitely double-check that the font you need is actually installed on your system. I ran into the same problem, and that was my issue.
For the cross-references, you need to provide better information. What is the issue? Are the xrefs not displaying correctly? Are the links going to the wrong place? etc.

  • Performance issue when opening DOCX Word Doc with Excel Links

Is this a bug or is there a config setting that can prevent Word from needlessly opening Excel repeatedly (upon initial open of a DOCX Word doc) when pre-existing links should NOT be updated. The behavior is good using 2003 formats (DOC & XLS),
but varies significantly (~100:1 range in performance) depending on the test scenario (see below) using DOCX with XLSX.
We can't move our environment to the new XML formats until we can find a fix. We were led to believe Microsoft knew this to be a bug in Office 2007, but it has NOT been corrected in Office 2010. Omitting a detailed explanation for why we need to
do this, here's our test scenarios:
-Currently testing Office 2010 Pro Trial version on WIN XP SP3. (We have found similar results using Office 2007 with Win7 or XP).
-Word Option Deselected/DISABLED: "Update Automatic Links at Open"
-The Word Doc contains 100 linked Excel tables and is 130K in size (DOCX).
-Each link points to the same 10x10 cell range in one Excel Workbook located in same directory as the Word Doc, although other tests using separate directories produced similar results.
-The Excel Links were inserted into Word via Paste Special/Paste Link/MS Excel Worksheet Object.
-The workbook (XLSX) is 15K in size.
-All Links are set for "Manual" update, our testing showed no difference if links are set to "Auto".
-Again, Word is set to NOT update Automatic links when the document is opened.
-Results shown below are for local hard drive test.
-Network response times are slightly greater on 100mb LAN
-Word is completely restarted prior to each test to make sure there's no application caching involved.
LOCAL DRIVE RESPONSE TIMES TO OPEN THE WORD DOC in Docx format:
    1. Open the Word Doc from Word with Excel closed - 175 seconds (Excel appears to be opened and closed once per link)
    2. Open the Word Doc from Word with Excel open & workbook closed - 33 seconds (Excel appears to be accessed once per link)
    3. Open the Word Doc from Word with the linked workbook already open - 7 seconds (Excel appears to be accessed once per link)
    4. Rename Excel XLSX workbook so that Word can't find it. Then open Doc the from Word. 1-2 seconds (Excel does not appear to be invoked)
    5. Repeat ALL of the above scenarios 1-4 using DOC and XLS files. These files are created with "Save AS" option based on original test files and then re-pasting the links.  1-2 seconds to open the Word Doc (Excel does not appear to be invoked)
    Summary
Using DOCX/XLSX, if Word can't find the linked spreadsheet it gives up and performs nicely during file-open. Otherwise, Word performs needless, time-consuming access to Excel, and in the worst case, opens and closes Excel repeatedly in the background.
Testing with DOC/XLS formats gives good performance across all scenarios.

It is a known bug and one for which AFAIK, there has been no fix.  The only way that I could get around it in a particular application was to do something like save the linked information as document variables and then on opening the document recreate
all the information.  My memory on exactly what I did is a bit hazy, but I can go back and check if you are interested.

  • Resolution Issues in Jpeg Options when Saving

Hi, I am suddenly experiencing an issue when saving Jpeg files in photoshop CS4. I work on hundreds of files at a time. I open the Jpeg photo, edit it and when ready hit 'save' and 'return' to accept the settings which are usually set by default to 12. But recently Photoshop is randomly selecting a lower compression in the Jpeg options when saving. It is only on a few random images though. If I open the original, re-edit the image and save it again, then it usually saves at 12 on the second attempt which is even more strange... Can I lock the settings to by default save all files at level 12 to avoid having to re-edit the shots I happen to miss spotting the change in compression on?
And doesn anyone know what would prompt photoshop to suddenly save certain images in a lower res automatically? I am wasting hours re-editing and double checking files which is very frustrating. Please help!!
Thank you in advance for any asdvice.

Hi Mark, thanks for your reply but the images I'm working on are all shot with the same settings and exported out of iPhoto with the same settings before imported into Photoshop for editing. So they haven't yet been saved in Photoshop. My problem is when I save the file after editing, photoshop is automatically selecting 0 Jpeg image quality rather than 12, which is what it generally selects, except now on these few select images? It's all a bit bizarre because I have used this method for 4 years and now all of a sudden I am having this problem. I assumed I had hit a shortcut somewhere and adjusted the parameters unintentionally. It's rather hard to explain  but I hope that makes more sense. Thanks again to anyone who can help, I'm deseperate to get to the bottom of this....
