Incompatible components
I have HP Officejet All in ONe 8500 909a printer. I have Mac OS x 10.9 (Mavericks) I get this error message on HP utility and when I go to support to find and dowload and update software to correct the problem, I cannot. How do I find the newer components for Mavericks?
Some components installed on your computer were developed for another version of HP Utility. These components will not be loaded and some functionality related to your device will not be accessible. Please click HP Support item on the toolbar to visit HP Online Support site and download the latest versions of HP software.
Hello there bearfan!
I saw your post about the error message you are seeing on HP Utility. I believe this message is showing for you as there is no full feature drivers and software available for the Officejet 8500 on Mavericks. I will post some information below for you to see about installing the printer on a Mavericks.
If you are looking to scan, you will not be able to scan using HP software however, you will see a link with your scanning options.

Incompatible components Photosmart 7520
I was having network problems with my Photosmart 7520 - if I didn't turn off the printer after I used it, after a while my wifi no longer responded. I tried to get around the problem by plugging the printer into one of the USB ports on my Mac and then the HP utility showed 2 printers . However, now I can't print at all - I get a message "Incompatible Components - Some components installed on your computer were developed for another version of HP Utility. These components will not be loaded and some functionality related to your device will not be accessible. Please click HP Support item on the toolbar to visit HP Online Support site and download the latest versions of HP software." The online support website did not indicate any way to modify the HP utility software. So I went to the user forum where I noticed a post for another printer with the same Incompatible Components message that recommended resetting the print system and provided steps to do this. I removed both printers and then added back the one connected via the USB port (when I go to system preferences/printer it shows up as HP Photosmart 7520 series.) But I can't print - the progress bar for the document I try to print starts up (ie there is a short blue segment) and then just hangs there. I also tried the scan function and got a "no computer connected" message. How do I solve the problem? Thanks.
When all else fails, read the users manual. It says that if you can't print, execute the HP Uninstaller and reinstall the software. Did that - problem seems to be solved - I can print. The only open question is whether the reinstall uses the USB connection (it seems to) or the wifi which was causing the problem. For the moment I am hopeful.

"Incompatible components" message after reinstallation
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the HP Photosmart D110 printer software for my mac, but I keep getting a message about incompatible components:
"Some components installed on your computer were developed for another version of HP Utility. These components will not be loaded and some functionality related to your device will not be accessible. Please click HP Support item on the toolbar to visit HP Online Support site and download the latest versions of HP software."
I've downloaded all of the latest versions I can find on the website, but I keep getting this message. Help?
This question was solved.

My iMovie 9.0.8 won't open, crashes upon app launch
For reasons I can't pinpoint on my own after days of googling, I've come to you guys for support. Hopefully someone can help me out!
Every time I try to launch iMovie (version 9.0.8 running on OS X 10.8.2) the app loads its initial screen and then crashes immediately, giving me a massive error log to be submitted to apple which I have pasted below.
So I have two questions:
Since I bought Mountain Lion through the app store, is there any way I can reinstall imovie? I'm at a complete loss with how I could delete and successfully reinstall iMovie since I do not have a install disc.
Is there a way to fix this problem without reinstalling?
Thanks guys. I look forward to hearing from you.

Firstly, trashing iMovie's preference file will often fix problems.
Go to your User (Home) folder Library/Preferences (not the Library folder at the top level in Macintosh HD). Similar to Lion, on Mountain Lion (10.8.2), the User Library folder will be hidden (unlike pre-Lion OS X versions). To access it, click on Go in the Finder menu bar, then press and hold down the Option key - the Library folder will appear in the drop down list, enabling access to it.
In <your user>Library/Preferences folder, locate a file named "com.apple.iMovieApp.plist". With iMovie closed, drag this file to the Desktop. When next opened, iMovie will create a fresh preference file with the default settings. If iMovie now runs OK, you can change these settings in the menu item "IMovie>Preferences" if desired. Also, it's now safe to drag the old preference file to the Trash. Trashing the file will not harm your existing Events or Projects.
Secondly, if trashing iMovie's preference file does not fix the problem, you may need to delete one or more third party QuickTime components that may be present on your system (as recommended by others in various threads). Some components have been known to cause conflicts with iMovie, particularly if they are older versions that have not been updated to work with current Mac OS X systems.
The component that seems to cause the most trouble for users is "3ivxVideoCodec.component" (which may be associated with installed Flip MinoHD camera software). The two most recent iMovie updates (9.0.7 and 9.0.8) did address the issue of incompatible components and should have fixed this. However, have a look in the folder "Macintosh HD/Library/QuickTime" (that's the Library folder at the top level) and check if you have the 3ivx component. If so, drag it to the Desktop then see if iMovie opens and works properly.
You may also need to remove other third party components from the QuickTime folder. But don't remove the following two Apple components: "AppleIntermediateCodec.component" and "AppleMPEG2Codec.component".
By a process of elimination, you should be able to isolate the component (or components) that may be causing a problem with iMovie. Remove each one in turn, then try running iMovie. Hopefully you will find the culprit! Trash (or update) any components that are causing problems and drag all others back to the QuickTime folder.

Final Cut Pro HD 4.5 won't open
I just had to reformat my computer and now I cannot get FCP to open. I am mainly an audio person and so I have a lot of audio plugins being used with MOTU's Digital Performer and Logic Pro. These include Wave Platinum Native and Native Instrument's Komplete 3, among many others. So, what happens is this. The program starts to open and then starts looking at the audio plugins. After approximately 30 minutes of going through them, t stops and a window comes up asking me if I want to report this to Apple, try to Reopen the program or just stop. I have done this at least 5 times and it never makes it through all the audio plugins. I have started from an external drive and rebuilt my disc and repaired disc permissions, many times. I have had Techtoll4 repair the disc, I have had Disk Warrior repair and rebuild and I have even had Norton Disk Doctor look at it. Nothing I do can get the program to boot. I have zapped the PRAM. I ran the Apple Pro applications program. I am at a loss. The only other thing I am goin to try is to reinstall FCP. By the way, LogicPro and DP both work with all the plugins installed, so I don't think that it is the plugins. Does anyone have any ideas? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
G5 Dual 2.5gig Mac OS X (10.4.4) 6.5 gigs of memoryThrough some help from the Creative Cow web-site and some other discussion threads, I figured it out. The offending audio plug-ins were Amplitube and Reaktor and Reaktor5. All were in the HD/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components folder. I had rebuilt and repaired everything countless times so there truly was nothing left that was corrupt. It was just a matter of finding the incompatible components and placing them in another folder on my desktop, so I could access them again when I need to use them in my sequencer programs. Once I removed the offensive plugs, FCP went through everything else (still slowly) and approved them. FCP finally opened and on the consequent loads, everything happened much faster.
Someone (Apple?) needs to devise a way for audio components to reside in a folder and be flagged in such a way as to tell an App NOT to try to load those specific components. Like I said in my earlier post, Logic Pro and Digital Performer have no problem loading those components, only FCP. And, they're not components that I would ever see myself using in FCP.
I hope this helps someone else avoid 3 days of frustration and no clear answers to be easily had. -
Final Cut Studio & Logic Studio upgrade issue
I am mainly audio based but have been working on projects more recently with Final Cut Studio 2 to deal with the video. As I use both Logic Studio 8 and Soundtrack Pro 2 a lot, and Final Cut Pro less, I plumped for the upgrade to Logic Studio which also contains STP 3 and Compressor 3.5 which seemed the right thing to do.
However the install info and dvd doesn't want you to install STP 3 or Compressor 3.5 if you have Final Cut Studio 2 as they "contain updated components that are incompatible with Final Cut Studio 2 or earlier. If the Logic Studio installer detects Final Cut Studio 2 or earlier on your system, it automatically deselects the checkboxes for Soundtrack Pro and Compressor in the Custom Install pane."
Personally I didn't want to run to the expense of upgrading Final Cut as I don't use Motion, Colour or Cinema Tools and although I am working heavily in DVD Studio Pro they haven't done anything to upgrade that application (boo!)
So what's the deal? Am I unable to upgrade ST Pro to version 3 and also unable to benefit from the upgraded Compressor even though I've actually paid for an upgrade that promised me these options, and no mention until I'd opened the package that there would be any incompatibility issues with Final Cut Studio 2!
Anyone know what these 'incompatible components' are?
Sounds like sharp practice and bad product integration to me...I just spoke with someone in Apple Reseller Channel Sales and he told me that what is shipping now is strictly the Universal version. So, if you order a Final Cut Studio Upgrade from FCP HD ($699 retail, IIRC), you will receive the FCS Universal version in the big box with all the docs.

K7N2 Delta (ILSR) incompatible with 200FSB?
Is the K7N2 Delta (Nforce2 Chipset) incompatible with 200FSB??... Ive seen many problems when trying to upgrade the CPU, and use a 200FSB in various forums. So, why does it keep hanging/crashing?? Might it be not really supported even though it specify it does?
From most of the posts I've been reading about this issue, the users are trying to build their systems using Value RAM from various manufacturers such as Kingston or Corsair among others...this just isn't a reality anymore in the high speed world of components...the Delta boards require a lot of power and high speed memory nowadays and a lot of the users are just unaware of these facts...
Part time builders are the most susceptible to this as they build a system every few years and think that all of the 'old' rules apply to their situation...what 'should' be isn't anymore as we continue to design and produce faster products that require faster peripherals to support them...
Getting away cheaply has been designed out of most systems and this really stems from the CPU mfg's and how MB designers have to approach BUS speeds and the like...
CDM has it right that you need to dip a little deeper these days for good QUALITY memory and peripheral items to ENSURE that when you build your new PC that you minimize these issues from the get go...if not then you're going to have a good run at testing this RAM or that RAM to find one that is cheap and will still have the speed capability to keep up with your high end MB & components...
Apacer is a good example of this...they're moderately priced and they perform very well in the sandbox with most applications that you set before them...overclocking them can lead you down a problematic path but overall they're pretty flexible from what I've seen...
Most of us here know that Mushkin is pretty infallable and will take pretty much whatever is thrown at their modules...if not calling their CS dept gets you the kind of help that most companies only dream about providing...
All in all the 'line' has risen and it will rise again and you'll see a rash of users that will complain that "This should do what I want it to do" but as is most always the case, you'll find that they're trying to build an underpowered system that requires fast peripheral components and a lot of them just aren't willing to dish out the cash required for a great white box system...
Yes I agree that it's a scam from the companies to force us to spend more of our hard earned dollars but that is the way of the world now, albeit that it's unfortunate...if you're really good at building systems tho, you'll find that you can usually come up with a pretty mid-range priced system that will blaze thru all the latest games but that only comes with buying components to play trial & error with...much like I used to do in my Computer Store years ago...these days I don't do much of that, I just buy the good stuff and save my time... -

How can I reset Safari with all components? On my MacBook with Lion, Safari does not start, does not react immediately after trying to open it. Installing a new Safari does not help. Removing parts of Safari in the Library does not help. Where can I find and remove all components as LastSession and TopSites?
The only way to reinstall Safari on a Mac running v10.7 Lion is to restore OS X using OS X Recovery
Instead of restoring OS X in order to reinstall Safari, try troubleshooting extensions.
From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall.
If it's not an extensions issue, try troubleshooting third party plug-ins.
Back to Safari > Preferences. This time select the Security tab. Deselect: Allow plug-ins. Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that made a difference, instructions for troubleshooting plugins here.
If it's not an extension or plug-in issue, delete the cache.
Open a Finder window. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following
~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db
Click Go then move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
Quit and relaunch Safari to test. -
I have recently downloaded the new itunes. My computer will open itunes but then a screen pops up that says Itunes has stopped working and must close. This happens every time and i can not by pass it. I am afraid all my music is gone as well. I found on my computer that its an incompatible app. What does that mean exactly? Was itunes installed incorrectly? I have had itunes on my computer before and worked just fine and had no problems. Is it possibly a computer issue or Itunes? Need help thanks
Not completely sure. But if you think it is an iTunes issue...... follow through this: Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7
ALSO, if you feel like all your music will be gone as well follow through these 2:
> Downloading past purchases from App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
> How to use your iPod to move your music to a new computer
IF YOU THINK ITS A COMPUTER ISSUE, RESTART YOUR COMPUTER BEFORE DOING ALL THIS. -
I am new to Catalyst and looking for a way to create components in Catalyst to be compatible with an existing application created in SDK 3.5.
I am working on a project for a client to reskin an existing flex application done in SDK 3.5, but they are not ready to migrate yet to SDK 4.0.
I really want ot use Catalyst to create some custom components for the new style of this existing application, but the problem is the that the spark component architecture and the old version 3.5 are not compatible. Is there a way around this until they are ready to migrate to 4.0 or will I have to create my components in flash and bring them into flashbuilder with a swc this way instead? What would be the best approach for me at this point, please help? No. Flash Catalyst leverages the new component framework that was introduced in 4.0 (aka Spark). Flex 3.5 and earlier used a framework (referred to as MX or Halo). That framework is incompatible with Flash Catalyst.

Edited by: user13282066 on Jul 29, 2010 4:37 AMIt looks like you are mixing SP1 and SP4 components in the server classpath.
Leaving aside the issue of supporting WL 6.1 ( nearly 10 years old! ), you should look at the classpath which will be listed in the server's log file when it starts up.
If this error has just recently started, has there been a modification to the startup scripts, or has there been a new patch installed? -
Oracle.jbo.domain.Number; local class incompatible
Hi Forum,
Development Tool : Jdeveloper 9.0.4 (part of Oracle 10g Suite)
Target Application Summary:
A simple application which displays the content of a database table and allows it to be modified both through a web interface as well as a Swing standalone client.
A Workspace having three projects:
1) A Business layer defined by using BC4J(Business Components For Java) provided with Jdeveloper 10g.
2) A Swing/JClient application for BC4J which accesses the BCJ4 layer using a Business component client data model.
3)A JSP application using JSP for business components which accesses the BC4j layer
Target Deployment:
1) Light-weight swing interface at machine 1
2) Business components and JSP part in an application server on Machine 2
3) Oracle DB on Machine3
Problem Statement
We deployed the BC4J Middle tier on OC4J standalone as a session bean. Then the client jar was deployed as a remote application(using Swing/JClient for business componments), the following error comes:
(oracle.jbo.PiggybackException) JBO-28300: Piggyback read error
----- LEVEL 1: DETAIL 0 -----
(java.io.InvalidClassException) oracle.jbo.domain.Number; local class incompatible: stream classdesc serialVersionUID = -6507359405709672486, local class serialVersionUID = -592084144037230518
Can the forum help me with the problem (i am using the library BC4JOracleDomains which has oracle.jbo.domain.Number class)
Thanking you in advance.Firstly, good job on describing your problem/situation. Some people just don't bother to be verbose.
Secondly, I have to note that I don't do any development in this way so I have no 1st hand experience with this excpetion. But, it appears as though you are using different versions of the jar files (which in turn contain different versions of the classes). Maybe you should take a look at that? -
IDVD version incompatible with Leopard?
Purchased Leopard OS and installed it in my Mac mini. Had no installation problems and all software updates installed with no grief. Leopard upgraded iLife components to v 5.x and they all appear to work except iDVD. The Leopard installation disk seems to have installed a version incompatible with Leopard OS. "You cannot use this version of the application iDVD with this version of Mac OS X."
Any suggestions on how to make iDVD work? Yes, I know that I am the last one on the block to update to Leopard. I really am an old-timer and buying a new Mac is not an option. I didn't spot a post on this subject but if I missed it please direct me to it.There is the assumption that Apple applications would not be made obsolete by upgrading the OS. e.g. Even AppleWorks which is no longer supported by Apple still works with Leopard OS.
Aaaah, the hidden costs of upgrades...
You can right click and get info on the program itself and you should be able to determine if your version should work with Leopard. My iDVD is v7.0.4 Only version 6 or 7 are compatible with Leopard.
Appleworks has many versions, but if I google: leopard appleworks problems - I get way too many hits to feel good about continuing to work with it. Pages seems to be able to be able to open .cwk files and they need to be converted.
A lot of people think that iLife is free, but it's actually part of the purchase price for the computer. Some people want to try installing iLife 09 on the older OS and come across the same issue in reverse because 09 requires Leopard.
In addition, iMovie 09 doesn't work on PPC Mac's even if they are running Leopard.
Apple's price for iLife 09 is $79 and they had a bundle for both Leopard and iLife for $169 but it's too late for you to get the bundle.
If there is any easy (inexpensive) way to get iDVD to work on my Mac mini, please let me know.
Amazon has iLife '09 on sale for $56.49 -
Unable to refresh EJB components
I am using Java Studio Creator update 1.
I have been using EJB components in one project, and that has been working fine for the past few months. Since last week, after dowloading the latest creator update from the update center, I am not able to refresh EJB components. This is the latest update posted at end of september 2006. This had four modules, i.e. com-sun-rave-insync.nbm, openide.nbm, org-netbeans-modules-beans.nbm and ravehelp.nbm.
I dont know whether this issue is related to the update.
The problem has been observed on two separate systems, each having this update.
The EJB are created using Java Studio Enterprise 8.
Please help.
The Java Studio Creator log is:
