Incompatible....why?

It has been posted that some sites are incompatible with Safari (Old Navy, Gap, etc.)
the following appears on Old Navy....
"We're sorry, but we do not support the version of the browser you are using. Our site works best with the following browsers:
PC users
Internet Explorer 5.5 and above
Netscape 7 and above
Mozilla (including Firefox) 1.0 and above
Mac users
Netscape 7 and above
Mozilla (including Firefox) 1.0 and above
We're working on supporting Safari. Please check back soon."
Does anyone know why? Is Apple falling behind or paving the way to security?

Tom is right on the mark, as usual. I do have a suggestion for you. If you encounter sites that do not support Safari, E-mail their web technical support people. I have found that most sites will correct their code and make it conform to open standards. Remember, we Apple users are potential customers. I have personally found that airlines, banks, and retailers (as well as many others that other people have contacted, I am sure) are most responsive to constructive feedback.

Problems in 5.5 video w audio going into audio 5 slot.

I'm working in Premiere 5.5 and it says my files are damaged that worked on in Premiere 6 on another computer. Do I need to upgrade to 6 to use these files?
Also, When working in 5.5 I drag my video into "video 1" and it puts my audio in "audio 5" I'm guessing because it seems incompatible. why would this be? I can't get it to move it move audio 1. I tried overwriting by holding down shift key when dragging clip but wont work.
again do I just need to upgrade to 6?

Short version: I bought an ink cartridge listed as "compatible" in my instruction manual (Deskjet 4160, cartridge is a 95 Tri-Color). Installed it. Got "incompatible" message from HP utility.
After many inquiries, tonight I got an email from HP telling me that (1) the cartridge is not compatible (2) I can exchange it for another 95 if I return it in its unopened original package. HELP! How would I know it didn't work unless I opened it to use it? If it's incompatible, WHY would I want another one? I can understand if this had been MY mistake, buying the wrong cartridge, but I have two different pieces of print material that state this cartridge is compatible. Can any of you logical folks out there offer some advice? And HP team...if you're reading this...can you make some sense of this request? For you masochists out there...I'm enclosing a copy of the latest, illogical correspondence from HP (it's below) Thanks much!!!

I understand you are experiencing an issue with HP Deskjet D4160 Printer. You are getting an error message as ‘Incompatible cartridge’ the cartridge was bought as a bundle packs of 3 cartridges two HP 98 and one HP 95.
At the outset, I apologize for all the inconvenience this matter might have caused you and at the same time I greatly appreciate that you have forwarded your concern and have given me a chance to assist you with this matter.
Helen, I would like to inform you that the cartridges which are compatible with HP Deskjet D4160 Printer are mentioned below.
HP 98 – Black ink cartridge.
HP 99 – Photo ink cartridge.
HP 93 – Tri-color ink cartridge.
To resolve this issue you can exchange the HP cartridge(s) that you own with those (different series cartridge) that may work for you. However, the cartridges should be in their sealed boxes. The exchange policy is limited to warranty terms and conditions.
To exchange the cartridge(s), please send a letter of request to the ISB Team (see address below), as we at email support are authorized to provide cartridge replacements only for same series cartridges.

This website seems to have the cartirdges that are accepted for each printer. I searched for yours (D4160 right?) and got this page.

The Printer Model D4160 accepts the following cartridges
Black Cartridge HP98
Colour Cartridge HP93
Photo Cartridge HP99
There are some printers that accept both the HP95 and the HP93 like the C4100 here

In this instance the C4100 also accepts the HP 98 which is the same black cartridge that you need!
But unfortunately your deskjet is HP 93 only!!

Firefox prompted me to download an incompatible update that its website claims is compatible with my operating system (Mac OS 10.4.11). Why prompt an incompatible download AND claim it is compatible?

I have an iMac and use OS 10.4.11 & Firefox 3.6.19. Firefox prompted me to download an update (to 7.0.1). I looked up the system requirements on your website, and it stated the update is compatible with OS 10.4.11. But after I downloaded and installed the update, it failed to work on grounds of incompatibility. Hence 2 questions: (1) Why did Firefox prompt me to download an incompatible update? (2) Why did your website claim the update is compatible with my operating system when it is not?

Sorry, it's because Firefox 4+ are only compiled for the Intel processors.
There is a separate project for PPC Macs called Ten Four Fox. You might give it a spin when you're tired of 3.6.

Why does Firefox disable the Uninstall button on incompatible and disabled extensions (which should be removed)?

I guess I'm just OCD because I don't want to see a bunch of incompatible and disabled extensions on my list but I can't be the only person who would like to remove them. It seems the obvious choice ... but it is unavailable. Why?

Please don't dodge the question. People have normal adds-ons and extentions that when become incomparable are greyed out and there is no way to uninstall it. Mine is Java at this time. Mine is an extension. I haven't had this enabled since 7 came out apparently I don't need it. So I would like to save space and take the darn thing off the computer. But I can't find a way. Thanks! I agree with you completely. I love my computer, it does everything I need it to. I have no reason to upgrade to a whole new computer just because it has new bells and whistles, or is marginally faster than what I have. I'm not using it for gaming, and I don't mind waiting an extra second or 2 for internet pages to load.Firefox has been a wonderful program. it would be shame if they force us to switch to something that is not as good.

error.
as i know incompatible type casting may be caught at runtime and
compiler shows the error.
but why compiler doesn't do it's job for interfaces? it's just so
clear to be compile error to me.

I Think compiler should be known that instance 'b' hold. No, it doesn't, and it's good that it doesn't, as it keeps the language simpler and more consistent.
Also, b doesn't hold an instance. It holds a reference to an instance.

Can't figure out why our toolbar is incompatible with Firefox 4

We have a toolbar that is currently compatible with Firefox 3.*.
I've changed the max version in install.rdf to:
<em:maxVersion>4.0.*</em:maxVersion>
repackaged and opened up the toolbar .xpi file, and Firefox still reports the toolbar is incompatible, but offers no reason why it's incompatible.
Any ideas? Is there any way to see why Firefox considers it incompatible?

Why is firefox 5 incompatible with talktalk email. i've been told to use another browser

problem with sending emails on talktalk. They are very very slow and I get this messaage

Why is mountain lion incompatible with my mac pro?

The app store says that Mountain Lion is incompatible. Not sure why. I have 2 x 2.66 GHz Dual Core Intel Xeon processors. I have 8 GB of memory free and over 800 GB of storage free. Can someone explain?

RAW files seem to be incompatible with my Mac - why?

I have a 2011 Macbook Pro which works fine with RAW files imported from my camera. Why is it my new iMac can't seem to handle RAW files. I have downloaded the latest software, but still says they are incompatible. Suggestions anyone?

It really depends on what the format the raw images the camera produces. If it isn't a .jpg right from the camera, it may require you to download Nikons Software to convert the images before Aperture can handle the Raw Images.
Not being familiar with Aperture I am not sure what this software can handle. I am pretty sure that the software should be able to handle any photo thrown it's way.

Why is my Z1 incompatible with App Ops permission manager?

This seems to be the best perm. manager and I don't see why exactly would Xperia Z1 be incompatible with it... Can anyone explain, please?
Also, if I can't have this - would you recommend any other working perm. manager? I am not OK with every other app forcing itself onto my device w/o me having any control over it. An app that has only textual content shouldn't require access to my account information. And I should be allowed to control that at any given time, shouldn't I?

I am really disappointed. Don't see a logical reason why the Z1 would be incompatible with this. It doesn't make any sense. I guess I'll try using 'Advanced Permission Manager' instead, which seems to run. What bothers me is that it rebuilds the .apk and then asks you to uninstall the old one and then install the new one. Is this how App Ops works as well? If it is so... I am not missing out on that much.
