Incomplete Adjust panel

iPhoto on my iBook seems to be missing all components of the Adjust panel other than brightness and contrast. I have tried deleting the pref file and that hasn't solved the problem.
Any suggestions about how to get the rest of "exposure", "tint", "straighten" etc to return to the panel?

ok, nevermind I did another search through the boards and found the answer... my iBook is old and not capable of performing those edits...
sorry to add this a minute too early.

  • Tiny Levels Adjustment Panel histogram.

The histogram, in the Layers Adjustments Panel in E9, is now only 166 pixels wide.  Since there are 256 levels in an 8 bit image about 1/3 of the levels are not shown.  In addition to the histogram being incomplete the adjustment sliders are now more difficult to use as they too are reduced in length.
To rub it in, the full extent of this anomaly only applies to the Levels Panel accessed as an adjustment layer.  Clicking on Enhance>Adjust Lighting>Levels… brings up something like the old full size, 256 pixel wide panel. Well it nearly brings up a full 256 pixel wide histogram except for the fact that a new, since E7,  border round the histogram now occupies the 0 and 255 levels leaving only 254 levels displayed not 256.
Why two different tools for the same job?
    Why are both now incomplete?
    Why change something that worked?
The image above shows a histogram as displayed in the Histogram Panel and the histogram of the same image as displayed in a Levels Adjustment Panel.    A slight change of zoom has introduced some distortion but the wide gaps in the left hand image are as seen in the original.

That's a good idea in retrospect I did put it in the wrong place.  I really just want to sound off about E9s "new" features.
I recently gave a talk to my local Camera Club Digital Group on the new features in the Elements 9's editor.   In preparing the talk I came across irritating new features and changes that I normally put up with but were becoming a pain as I reworked examples.  In the end I had a much longer list of irritating new features than the list of new editing features that Photoshop proudly advertise.  It just seems to me that there is an unreasonable number of careless programming errors, if not errors then irrational decisions, that were not features of earlier versions of Elements.
After using Es 2,3,4,5,6 and 7 I just feel that E9 was a rip off Layer Masks or no Layer Masks.

  • I've lost my adjust panel, how do I get it back?

I seem to have lost the "adjust panel" for editing photo's in IPhoto 5.0.4. I've tried to edit from both the library and in albums. This seems to have happened after a recent upgrade to 10.4.3 and shortly thereafter a memory upgrade from 512MB's to 1. GB and a warranty replacement of my super drive. Any ideas?

    Hi Mel,
It MIGHT be that you need to make your window larger so you can see it in the toolbar...or...look under the >> and see if it is there.

  • In Develop mode not all of the adjustment panels are showing.  The basic panel is not evident.

In Develop mode not all of the adjustment panels are showing.  The basic panel is not evident.

Right click near to one of the other options e.g tone curve and a popup list will provid you with the option to display or hide the options. see image capture.

  • Lost BASIC section of adjustment panel in DEVELOP mode.

Editing my first image in Lr5, v7.  Somehow I have lost the BASIC section of adjustment panel in the DEVELOP mode.  This adjustment panel now starts at TONE CURVE, just under the TOOL STRIP.  How can I get the BASIC section of the adjustment panel back???

Right-click on Tone Curve or any other tab and choose Basic again.
Or in develop Mode press Cmd+1 (Ctrl+1)

  • Highlights and Shadows Adjustment Panel

    Hi
Since upgrading to 3.3.1 yesterday, I have lost the Advanced segment of the Highlights and Shadows adjustment panel.
It will show up on photos which had been previously edited using this segment, but not on photos which have not been edited.
Photos are on an external drive.
    Any fixes?

    See Kirby Krieger's Thread:
How to not miss that olde-tyme Highlights & Shadows 7-slider Brick
Basically you use an image, that still has the Version 3.2 Highlights & Shadows adjustments and create an adjustment preset (effect) from this image. Then you can use the advanced controls again for all images.

  • Where is the ( curve ) option in the adjustment panel ,in photoshop elements 9

where is the ( curve ) option in the adjustment panel ,in photoshop element 9 , I cant seem to find the curve option ...

Irritatingly, it doesn't exist. You need to go to Enhance>Adjust Color>Adjust Color Curves for the PSE version of curves. You can add an adjustment layer with something like elements+ from simplephotoshop.com or grant's tools (http://www.elementsvillage.com/forums/showthread.php?t=51319), but it will still be limited to the combined RGB channel. If you use windows there's also the free easy filter smartcurve plug-in:

  • Adjustment panel disappears in

I am new to CS4, upgraded from PSE8.  WinXP Pro.  I am going through "Classroom In A Book" and learning things I really like.  Tonight, I start the program and hit Alt-Ctrl-Shift and reset everything.  I open up Bridge and start on a RAW photo like I have been doing the last few days.  I start with opening Histogram and then go to the Adjustment Panel.  If I open LEVELS, I can use that function only as the Adjustment Panel disappears.  After completing the task and hitting SAVE, there is no Adjustment Panel to be found anywhere.  I have to close CS4 and reboot using the Alt-Ctrl-Shift command and then the Adjustment Panel reappears when I open a photo.  I can not find this problem anywhere on the Adobe site...any ideas or HELP out there???  I appreciate anything!

    Hi Wroger,
Your mistake is in "closing" the levels window.  You are actually closing the adjustments palette.
When you have finished the levels adjustment and want to make another adjustment, just click on the little arrow on the bottom left hand corner of the adjustments panel, and all the other adjustments will be available.

  • In PSE9 is there a way to enlarge the levels adjustment panel and effects panel for viewing?

In PSE9 is there a way to enlarge the levels adjustment panel for viewing?  The histogram is so small.
I know we can use the arrow keys to change the settings for the histogram, but it is just the overall view of it I would like to see bigger.
I think with PSE8 the effects panel could be dragged out of the panel bin and made longer AND wider, but in PSE9 it can only be made longer when dragged outside the panel bin.
And I think the whole panel bin could be dragged wider or narrower.

not really apart from changing the resolution, but theres a a couple of things you can do
you can change the "minimum font size" in Safari (and other apps) in the General tab - this will enlarge any fonts to the minimum size you specify if they are under that size
the features in the accessiblilty section of system preferences might be worth a look as well
the pinch zoom feature is also useful
unfortunately there isn't a 1-button setting somewhere that can do this, because apps, documents, web pages, images etc all work independently from each other, they use different font types, different zoom levels, etc. You can't just enlarge them all in sync without content getting jumbled up/distorted. if enlarge an app/page/document and get it looking good, on the next one you would probably need to zoom in at a different level for it to look right

  • HT3805 Sudden problem: Adjustment panel blank (metadata and library OK). Thumbnail shown as file loads but then  image has dark blue cast and is not adjustable.  Have current version of Aperture running.  Help please

Aperture Help needed: Adjustment panel is blank, although metadata and library panels normal.  Thumbnails appear normal but when RAW (CR2) file is loaded, it appears with a dark blue cast, and does not load into the adjustment panel, and is not adjustable. Suggestions please

You may need to register your camera with the the launch service database again, see this post by Alan Roseman: Re: Aperture 3 preview of raw file greenish
There is a "typo" in the command given in the link above, so read also the following posts on how to correctly enter the command and how the fix is supposed to work
    Good luck.
Post back, if this does not help.

  • Adjustment Panel Auto Hide Configuration

    Hi,
in Lightroom 3, it is very easy to accidentally hide the adjustment panels when trying to scroll them up or down.
This happens when one attempts to click on the adjustment panel slider but instead accidentally hits the area immediately to its right, referred to as "Adjustment Panel Auto Hide Area" in the following discussion. This area shows a little arrow and is used to hide and show the adjustment panels.
    Usability improvement suggestions:
    1) Allow the user to disable the auto-hide feature of the adjustment panel via Edit / Preferences... / Interface / Adjustment Panel.
    2) Dito, but configuration of the auto-hide feature via a new entry in the context-sensitive menu of the Adjustment Panel Auto Hide Area. The menu could offer a new checkbox "Auto Hide Toggle". If enabled, the current default behaviour is active and a left click in the Adjustment Panel Auto Hide Area shows or hides the Adjustment Panel. If disabled, a left click has no effect.
In my workflow, I use two screens. One screen shows the image in full size, the other one shows the various adjustment panels which I never switch off. I just scroll them up or down. Being able to toggle the current default behaviour would make the product more usable to me.
    Thanks
    Christian

When I hide the playbar, the animation is paused and when the mouse is over the playbar , the animation continue.

  • Trouble getting adjust panel to come up when editing in iphoto

I've had no trouble editing photos in the past but all of a sudden the adjust panel will not come up when I try to edit a photo. The enhance function works as does the effects panel. Any ideas what could be the problem?

    WAM4:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. It may be coming up but located off the screen. On the chance that that's the reason, try deleting the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, and see if that will bring it back.
    Do you Twango?

  • Auto Levels in Adjust Panel

Has anyone noticed that the Ajust Panel in iWeb has an 'Auto Levels' button at the bottom, but the same Adjust Panel in iPhoto 06 does not?
I normally run all my photos through Photoshop, just to use the auto -levels, -color and -contrast tools (I'm slightly color blind, so PS helps me at least be consistent!). This Auto Levels button would be a great thing to see in iPhoto's Adjust Panel, especially considering that iPhoto is the image app in the Suite, not iWeb.

Has anyone noticed that the Ajust Panel in iWeb has
an 'Auto Levels' button at the bottom, but the same
Adjust Panel in iPhoto 06 does not?
iPhoto has the Magic Wand button which does the same...

  • Adjustment panel and the Targeted Adjustment Tool

I have assigned the F3 key to toggle the display of the Adjustments panel. However, whenever I have an adjustment that includes the Targeted Adjustment Tool (such as curves) the F3 key activates the TAT rather than dismissing the Adjustment panel. I have to move to a non-TAT adjustment to allow F3 to dismiss the Adjustment panel. In fact, any Fn key will activate the TAT rather than it's assigned keyboard action. Is this normal behaviour? If so, it's most annoying.

No one else seeing this problem? It does not happen in CS4.
I'm guessing the "bug" appeared after I had set the Auto-Select Targeted Adjustment Tool. I have since removed the Auto-Select feature but now any Fn key will select the TAT rather than dismiss the Adjustment panel. You have to move to an adjustment without a TAT for the Fn key to dismiss the Adjustment panel. Definitely a workflow annoyance.

  • Adjustment Panel Presets

I've created an Adjustment panel preset and I would like it to be first in the list, how do I adjust the order of presets.
I've looked in folder where the default presets are stored and can't see my new one, (CS4>Presets>Curves) are they stored anywhere else?
    Thanks

It looks like the default "Save" location for custom presets is in ~user/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Photoshop CS4/Presets/Curves (or whatever). This puts them under the line.
However, if you move you preset files from that folder to The Photoshop CS4 app folder (Presets/Curves), then restart Photoshop, they'll appear alphabetically in the main list.
They keep the Adobe-made stuff separate from the user-made stuff this way.
