Incomplete iCal sync iPhone 4S OS6.0 & MacBook Pro OS10.6.8

Hello community wisdom,
two weeks ago I switched from my old iPhone 3G (iOS 4.2.1) to a new iPhone 4S (iOS 6.0). Since then I have an annoying trouble with incomplete syncing of my iCal calendars (MacBook Pro OS10.6.8, iTunes 10.7). I do syncing via USB cable only. Besides iCal no other calendar being used.
When I set up the iPhone 4S initially all iCal calendars, adressbook etc data got transferred to the phone correctly. Two days later sync warned me about several hundreds of calendar conflicts :-( asking me to delete the entries in iCal. I denied and instead let sync replace the complete calendars on the phone by the iCal calendar.
I was good for two more days. Then I realized that not all newly created events are synced correctly. Both events created on the iphone and created on the MacBook Pro were affected.
Shortly after that sync insisted again on hundreds of conflicts. So I did a backup of all my iCal calendars on the MacBook and let the sync do what it wanted. Then I have imported my backups under different names into iCal so I could make a side-by-side comparison. ... as expected hundreds of events past, current and future had been deleted. I am unable to see any systematic behind the deleted entries.
I restored the correct calendars in iCal again and let sync replace the calendars on the iPhone.... well, again, the sync did not go well and the calendars on the iphone are incomplete...
I am at a loss. Any suggestions?

that didnt work. Tried reset sync, didnt help. Tried pasting the command, and i got this response:
There is no (UpgradedbTries) default for the (com.apple.SyncServer) domain.
Defaults have not been changed.

  • Sync iPhone 4G to my MacBook Pro

When I sync my iPhone 4G to my MacBook Pro, the address book updates on my iPhone do not populate to my MacBook Pro?...HELP!

There is no iPhone 4G. There is an iPhone 4 and now an iPhone 4S.
Try resetting the sync history on your Mac, which is done via iSync preferences with the iSync application in your Applications folder - unless your Mac is running Lion.

  • Syncing iphone to my new macbook pro without losing my contacts/text messages

    hello.
i just bought a macbook pro and im loving it
i transfered all my music and pictures from my pc to my mac
but now i need to sync my iphone to my mac so i dont have to use my pc no more.
im worried that i will lose all my contacts and my text messages if i sync my iphone to my mac.
everything is fine except that i dont wanna lose my contacts and my text messages.
is there any way to figure this out.
    please Help!!

Text messages aren't included with the iTunes sync process except for being included with the iPhone's backup, and the same for contacts unless you are syncing contacts with a supported address book app on your computer, which must be manually selected under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes.
Before syncing contacts with the Address Book app on your Mac, enter one contact in the Address Book app on your Mac. This will provide a merge prompt with the first sync for this data, which you want to select.
The same applies to calendar events before the first sync with iCal on your Mac.
If you transfer your iTunes library from your PC to your Mac per the instructions included with this link, no iTunes content on your iPhone will be erased with the first sync with iTunes on your Mac.

  • Syncing iphone data into New Macbook Pro

    Hey guys,
I read a few answers on the forum but I want clear confirmation if any of you could help. I lost data on my Macbook Pro as the hard drive crashed. I bought a new Macbook Pro and I want to sync the data of the iphone into the new computer.
I need to transfer, mainly...SMSes, Contacts, Photos, and mail data (My mail is all IMAP though which is good right? perhaps transfer that information would be nice).
Applications and the data on them if possible and music would be good.
Isit safe and as easy as plug and sync? I also have a Fruux Account but the iphone data is more updated because while awaiting my new laptop, I was using my iphone as the temporary computer.
Is there anything else I should do first? Sync Fruux first or vice versa and should I do anything else?
    Thank you!

Good, glad you have a backup. So what you need to do is move those libraries from your PC to the new MBP and then import them into iTunes. Follow the instructions you will find here. I would recommend you move the files to an external HD.
Prior to doing that I would also recommend you read over Switch 101 and Mac 101. Both of these links will provide you invaluable information for someone making the switch from a PC to a Mac.

  • How do I sync Iphone 5 to new MacBook Pro without deleting what's on iPhone?

I just purchased a new MacBook Pro and I have an iPhone 5 that has been synced with my PC.  When I try and sync the iPhone with the new MacBook ti tells me that it will erase what is on the iPhone and replace it with what is on the MacBook.  I want to sync all that is on the iPhone with the MacBook and not delete what is on the iPhone.
How do I do that without loosing any music, emails, photos, calender appointments, etc.?
Thank you for the help in advance.

A device can only sync with one library at a time.  Ideally you transfer the library from the PC to the Mac so it is still syncing with the same library.
iTunes: How to move [or copy] your music [library] to a new computer [or another drive] - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527 - a somewhat bewildering and not always easily understandable set of options.
Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings:  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive.  Open iTunes and immediately hold down the Option (alt) key (shift on Windows), then guide it to the new location of the iTunes Library.itl file in the moved iTunes folder.
For the record there's this reference for iTunes 11 but it really doesn't strike me as having the specifics you need. iTunes 11 for Mac: Move your library to another computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12168
Windows users see tip at: https://discussions.apple.com/message/18879381
If you put it in the default location of Macintosh HD > Users > *User Name* > Music  then you don't even need to start with the option key held down, iTunes will automatically look for it there.  (Make sure there isn't anything already in the iTunes folder there that you want to keep since you will be replacing it with the one you are moving.)
If you don't have the library anymore then it gets messy.  You will have to use third party software to transfer the phone contents to the Mac and rebuild your library there so its content matches that of the old library so you are syncin the content back to the phone.
Some of the information below has subsequently appeared in a document by turingtest2: Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device - https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991
Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was planned with you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchases which can be transferred to a computer.
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848 - only purchases from iTunes Store
For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will have to use third party commercial software. Examples (check the web for others; this is not an exhaustive listing, nor do I have any idea if they are any good):

Hi ~ This is my first post - Yeah. I am a brand new MacBook Pro User. I am trying to sync all the data from my iphone into my new macbook. I would like my music, pictures, contacts, etc. to transfer over. Is there a way to do this? If not, any suggestions?

Syncing to a new iTunes library or computer will erase your phone. Only if you back up manually before syncing, you can restore your device from that backup again. A manual backup does not include the sync process.
    Do this:
Disable autosync in iTunes, connect your phone to your new computer and right click on it in the device list and choose backup. iTunes will backup your device without syncing.
Transfer your purchases the same way, choosing "transfer purchases" this time.
When you connect your phone for the first time, all media content will be erased. But you can restore your settings and app data from your manual backup afterwards.
Don't forget to set up at least one contact and event on your new computer to be able to merge calendars and contacts when you sync the iPhone for the first time.
Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in itunes and transferred your purchases.
There is 3rd party software out there, but not supported by Apple, see this thread:http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2013615&tstart=0

  • "Merging data" error when syncing iPhone 5s Calendar to MacBook Pro Calendar, using Mountain Lion

Since a failed attempt to sync data via iCloud (resulting in duplicate entries in Calendar and Contacts, missing data, and other oddities), whenever I try to sync the Calendars via iTunes, I repeatedly get the error message, "iTunes could not sync calendars to the iPhone <name> because an error occurred while merging data." The Contacts sync fine, and the backup runs smoothly. The only discussions I can find in Apple Support are dated 2009 with older systems (I'm using Mountain Lion 10.8.5, iTunes 11.1.5, iOS 7.1.1, but the problem occurred with iOS 7.0 and possibly 6.0 as well). Repairing permissions had no effect. I can't use the option to copy the Mac Calendar to the iPhone because new data are entered into the iPhone. Would appreciate guidance. I'm trying to avoid iCloud but if I have to go there to fix this, guidance for that would also be welcome.

I have iPhone 5 with iOS 6.1.4 and iMac with Mavericks 10.9.3 and iTunes 11.2.1.
I also got this error when I tried to sync iPhone with iMac (after a year when Apple disabled local USB cabel sync in Mavericks - thanks Apple for re-enabling it!).
I tried a number of things to no avail. Finally I tried three things - and hurraaa, can sync now! Unfortunatelly I didn't test sync among these three steps - so don't know which one fixed it - up to you to try. My guess is that it was the 3rd step, actually
Step 1: On my iPhone I opened Calendar and tap "Calendars" (top left). I have 7 items on the list (2 email accounts, Calendar, Home, Work, Reminders, Birthdays). Most of the calendar entries were in my Home calendar, only a few were in Work or Birthdays. I moved all of them to Home. I also checked whether there aren't any items without content.
Step 2: On the list of Calendars I had one custom item (Birthday in my local language). This item had only one entry in it. I deleted both the single entry and the custom item as a whole - so I left the default categories only.
Step 3: At the top of the list of Calendars there is an item "All from My Mac". I tapped this and thus enabled all of my calendar categories. Now the sync worked like a charm!
I actually noticed that when I synced, iTunes automatically checked all items under "Sync Calendars - Selected Calendars". Even if I manually deselected all except the "Home" calendar, as soon as I started to sync, iTunes checked all items automatically. This led me to thinking that if I check "All from My Mac" item in my iPhone it might work.
Good luck with your sync issue, hope you'll solve it.

  • Problem syncing iPhone contacts to new Macbook Pro

I have a new Macbook Pro - still getting it set up - and I just noticed that, of the several hundred contacts I have on my iPhone 5s, only 14 or so found their way to the contacts app on the Macbook Pro? Ideas about why? (I checked my phone settings and I do have contacts "on" in iCloud, so that shouldn't be the problem.) Unfortunately, this is a time when Apple Care is "experiencing an unusually high volume of calls" so I'm not getting through...

I was able to solve the problem: I dragged the folder named iPod Photo Cache to the Trash (following the instructions in: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1314 and the discussion in: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=11399437&#11399437)
    Thank you very much, Ingo2711!

  • Voice Memos not syncing from my iPhone 3GS to my MacBook Pro. Sync music is ticked in iTunes along with include Voice Memos box

Hi, I am trying to get my voice memos from my iPhone 3GS to my MacBook Pro via iTunes and it is not working. I have ticked sync music in the music tab of the iPhone device and the include voice memos box is also ticked. So, apparently this should work, but there is no sign of the voice memos in iTunes or in the iTunes folder in the finder window. Any ideas much appreciated! :-) Thank you.

I've always had the "Include Voice Memos" option selected. I think that only pertains to syncing voice memos from iTunes to the iPhone after it has been copied to iTunes. It has to be the new OS/iTunes not communicating that new memos have been recorded. For some reason they won't sync when I want them to, and then a few syncs later they magically appear.
By the way, I'm VERY comfortable with the iTunes and iPhone systems. I've been using iTunes for 5 years, and I've been recording class lectures with the iPhone voice memo app (and another app) for a couple years. It's not an error of not seeing that the memos were added; they don't exist in my library or music folders.
JUST OUT OF CURIOSITY, POST WHICH FIRMWARE YOU ARE RUNNING EXACTLY!!!
I'm on an iPhone 4, running firmware 4.0.1

    Hi silverk,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand the need for all of your calendars to be up to date across all of your devices and how frustrating it can be when they are not syncing as you would expect. In this situation I would suggest reading over and using the attached article for troubleshooting.

  • ITunes movies no longer sync from Dell laptop or MacBook Pros (both authorized devices) to iPhone 6s or iPad Air 2s after configured at Apple store yesterday.  In the past I could see the movies in iTunes with the cover photo and sync.

iTunes movies no longer sync from Dell laptop or MacBook Pros (both authorized devices) to iPhone 6s or iPad Air 2s after configured at Apple store yesterday.  In the past I could see the movies in iTunes with the cover photo and sync to the other devices but now there is a listing a movies with no cover photos and in fact if I try to view the movie on the MacBook Pro it cannot be found unless I download it.

All I had to do was complain.  I synced my iPhone to the Windows machine, checked the other account at iTunes prompting (where no apps had shown up previously), reconnected the iPad, and 140 apps downloaded including the App Store.  I have no idea why.

Were you syncing over USB? If so, and you upgraded to Mavericks, you will have to switch your calendar to iCloud or another cloud-based option.
Syncing over USB is no longer an option in Mavericks.

  • How do i sync photos from iphone over icloud to macbook pro?

I am totally confused as to why photos taken on my iphone or ipad do not sync over icloud to my MacBook Pro.
If I sync manually I end up with everything else such as calendar and contacts duplicated.
How can I get the photos to sync over icloud?

Photos taken on one device will sync to all devices via photo stream providing that all the devices are logged into the same iCloud account and photo stream is enabled on each of those devices.
