Incomplete Messages in Inbox

I keep receiving emails which have no message as displayed in the inbox. If I click on "Forward", the entire message appears. This happens about 10 percent of the time. Not a big problem, but mystifying. Header information is complete - just no message.

I wonder whether this could be a font issue. You may use Font Book to validate fonts and resolve duplicates.
You may also try trashing the Mail cache:
1. Quit Mail if it’s running.
2. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Caches/.
3. Locate the Mail cache folder (not to be confused with the ~/Library/Mail folder where all your mail is stored) and move it to the Desktop (to be deleted after opening Mail and checking that all your mail is there, i.e. after making sure that you didn’t remove the ~/Library/Mail folder by mistake).
And yet another thing that might be worth a try if you can reproduce the problem consistently with certain messages is to start up in Safe Mode and see whether the same happens under those conditions as well.
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user’s home folder. That is, ~/Library is the Library folder within the user’s home folder, i.e. /Users/username/Library.

I have a proper mailing list created as the manual says. It's a small group of contacts that exist in the address book. I do not type them as CC I just write "clients" and before I finish the word the name of the list appears.
How can I stop Avast from scanning out going mail? It's the free version and I haven't found a real solution. I also tried to totally turn off the "mail shield" but I kept facing the same issues. However, I just turned it off and tried to send the mail, I didn't restart windows or thunderbird
The idea with ipage server was fantastic! It would never come to my mind!!! As far as I see, the limit is 250 mails per hour. I doubt if I have ever reached the 50% of it. I also don't reach the bandwith limits... Besides that, if I had exceeded the limit I would get multi responses that "mail was not delivered".
I want to thank you both for your excellent help so far. I'm sad to say that I still haven't solved the issue. When I made smaller lists, with the same addresses chosen from the address book I could send the messages, having a short delay. I would blame Avast but I tried the same on another laptop with my favourite NOD32 and had the same problem.
What else should I check? Should I focus on Avast?

Hi, i've searched without success how to create a folder (in unified folders) which contains all the messages of inboxes and outboxes (as it exists in Windows Live Mail).
For me, it would be very useful to search in only one folder when i try to find something in sent and received mails.

Mail 4.1, Exchange, and Duplicate messages in inbox

Using Snow Leopard and Mail 4.1 to access an exchange account and a gmail account. The problem ONLY occurs in the Exchange account. My messages are all duplicating. Only in Mail are they duplicating. I've checked Outlook Web Access and Outlook on my windows machine - no duplicates there. Didn't start out this way, and the problem came once before, stopped, and now it has returned. If I delete one copy of the message, both messages get deleted. Is there someway to rebuild the mail inbox? or resync?
Also, tried creating a new folder on the exchange server, copying all messages from inbox to the new folder, then moving back. In the temp/new folder, the messages were single. After copying back to Inbox - they doubled again. And again, only in Mail. The msgs remain single in Outlook, OWA, iPhone, Blackberry.
UPDATE: I highlighted the exchange mailbox and went to MAILBOX > REBUILD. Erased everything but only in Mail. The messages are still on the Exchange server and can be seen by OWA, Outlook, iphone and blackberry. New messages are going to the Mail Exchange inbox but old messages are gone. Any way to get them back?

I could never have known that the default setting on mac's mail would be "remove copy from server after retrieving a message".
now, that's a valid point. this is not exactly advertised and mail setup assistant does not tell you anything about it. you can voice your concern to apple about this issue here

there isn't anything you can do now. it's not up to apple at this point. you just can't upload messages to a POP email server. it does not matter what email client or what operating system you are using.

If you want to be able to store data and then retrieve it, the you can use RMS, but if you want to get data already stored on your phone then you need the FileConnection API. There is no work around this as far as I know.

Upon starting Outlook, it will always go to the first item in the folder. During your Outlook session, when you return to a folder, it will select your last selected message. You can't change this. Pressing the Home button on your keyboard will instantly
bring you back to the top.

If the latter then you can do this by running the following on the messaging server:
./mboxutil -d user/<uid>/INBOX
If the former, this isn't actually easy and would require deleting emails off disk and then running a reconstruct on the account.

Quiz options "Show Incomplete Message"

I am developing a scored assessment in my Captivate tutorial.
If I check the box to "Show Incomplete Message," the message only
displays when the user clicks Submit w/o answering the question.
The user can still page forward and not answer the question (the
incomplete message does not appear in this case).
Is there a way to suppress the page forward button on a
scored quiz screen and just have the Submit button jump to the next
page? - OR - is there a way to display the incomplete message if
the user pages forward without answering the question?

Hi Carol,
I think the only way to force the "Incomplete" message is to
require the user to click the Submit button to proceed.
This implies that the playbar is turned off somehow.
Consider publishing your quiz as a separate file with the
playbar turned off for the entire file (that's how I do it when the
user is required to answer every question). This does mean adding
your own "Next" buttons at times, but it also avoids issues with
the user having random navigation control.
Or, you can look into using one of the widgets created by
Paul Dewhurst, who has a fabulous collection of add-ons for
Captivate at his website.

How do I restore Mail messages to Inbox

While working with my ISP on a mail problem I deleted all of the messages from Inbox and Sent.
I maintain regular backups so I have the messages there. They are located at User/Library/Mail/Mailboxes/POP-(me)@pop-server. . . .
How do I restore them to Mail's Inbox and Sent respectively?

Your answer put me on the right track but it would not work quite like you said. What I needed to do was import the InBox and the sent folders from the backup copy. This creates an imported mail folder containing the messages from the backup. Then from the Inbox and the Sent folders in the import folder I moved the messages into the main Inbox and sent folders.
On Both of my computers there is no Mail folder in the Home/Library. It definitely is located in the User/Library folder.

I got a backup incomplete message on my first back up attempt anyone know what to do?

On your device go to Settings>iCloud>Storage and Backup>Manage Storage and then select your device. You can then see how much space each app requires and turn the back up off for individual apps. It is most likely the camera roll on your device that requires the most storage space.
Photo Stream does not count towards your storage space

TS3276 mail messages in inbox gone! Could this be virus or malware?

Mail has been acting weird for almost one week. I have Comcast internet and use Apple Mail. Have not been able to receive messages, using Xfiniity Comcast online to check messages - I am able to send from Mail but not receive. Xfinity works fine. Tonight I checked emails on Mail and every message in inbox (message area) are blank. Address, subject etc are there messages are blank. I am freaked out.
ALSO - some weirdness and I am hearing about Malware issues.

Hi - in case there is anyone out there who has the same problem - mine got miraculously cured with the recent update of Mail. I only wish I hadn't spent upwards of 8 hours trying to fix something that was a software fault all along. Now I want to enable Single Inbox for the remaining 345 subscribers. They are already LDAP integrated.We just moved from Unity Unified 7.0 (with Exchange 2003) to Unity Connection 8.5
How do I use Bulk Edit to enable the remaining subscriber for Unified Messaging/Single Inbox?
Jeff - would be great if COBRAS going from Unity Unfiied Messaging to Unity Connection Unified Messaging would automatically configure everything since it already knows the Exchange alias, etc.

Bulk edit all users to Generate SMTP Proxy Address From Corporate Email Address.
Users > Find (blank) > Select All > Bulk Edit > Checkbox "Generate SMTP Proxy Address From Corporate Email Address"
Via Bulk Administrator, bulk export Unified Messaging accounts and save as UMExport.csv to your PC.
Tools > Bulk Administration Tool > Select Export and Unified Messaging Accounts > Submit
Via Bulk Administrator, bulk export UM accounts and save as UsersExport.csv to your PC.
Tools > Bulk Administration Tool > Select Export and Users with Mailbox > Submit
Open UMExport and UsersExport saved files with notepad, save as CSV, and open with Excel.
Copy values from UserExport.csv and paste values to UMexport.csv
'Alias' => ‘SubscriberAlias’
'EmailAddress' => ‘UMEmailAddress’
Populate all UMexport.csv fields for all users and save as UMCreate.csv.
‘ServiceDisplayName’ with the Unified Messaging Service name
all other 1's and 0's
Open UMCreate.csv with notepad and save without any file extensions UMCreateAA
Via Bulk Administrator, bulk create UM accounts

Have an 'other' email set up on iPhone 4s; cannot delete or move messages from inbox. Help?

Try resetting the iPhone,
Reset your iPhone by pressing the 'Sleep' and 'Home' button at the same time for about 15 seconds or so. Your iPhone will then go through a reset / reboot procedure and will be ready for use within about a minute.
Don't worry about doing this as you will not lose data or settings.
If the does not work then delete that email account and set it up again,
Settings > Mail > select the account > delete account.
Take a note of the account settings before doing this to help you set it up again.

Restoration incomplete message after factory restore

After performing a factory restore I am getting the following mesage. Restoration Incomplete . I have retried full factory and system image restore multiple times and after it completes and the computer restarts the restoration incomplete message comes back. Here is what it says when click on the details button.There might be unexpected reboot during factory update. The process will cause CTO panic because the image might not be normal. and then it states the time.The computer is out of warenty and I do not have factory recovery disk and HP says none are availabe from them. I can axcess the full start up menu including F10 Bios Setup. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks Robert Fuller

Hi Rod Good luck on that one, I did not even get to a recovery manager to start with.I ended up formatting the HDD and reloading with with our Win7 Pro install disc. I used the license I use for my desktop and that sorted my issue. No more problem.
