Inconsisten with the protected source The system cannot find the path specified (0x80070003)

Hi,
we are getting an error with the DPM server, the disk is on the same server, other disk have no issues
The replica of Volume H:\ on backup.domain.eu is inconsistent with the protected data source. All protection activities for data source will fail until the replica is synchronized with consistency check. You can recover data from existing recovery points, but
new recovery points cannot be created until the replica is consistent.
DPM encountered an error while performing an operation for \\?\Volume{5d0ecad1-5d88-47eb-8a5c-13dddaf0d41e}\app\invoice\ on backup.domain.eu (ID 2033 Details: The system cannot find the path specified (0x80070003))
we did a consistency check twice and a disk scan, even deleted the backup and recreated it

Hi,
From the following article, you can first try a consistent checking:
Replica inconsistent
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb809059.aspx
To perform a consistency check
In DPM Administrator Console, click Protection on the navigation bar.
In the Display pane, select the protection group member for which you want to perform a consistency check.
In the Actions pane, click Perform consistency check.
In the dialog that notifies you that a consistency check is a lengthy operation, click OK.
If it failed, please try to manually synchronize a replica as referred in this article:
How to Synchronize a Replica

  • The operation failed because of a protection agent failure. (ID 998 Details: The system cannot find the path specified (0x80070003))

    Hello,
We are getting the following error when trying to backup our fileserver (DPM 2012 R2) to tape.
"The operation failed because of a protection agent failure. (ID 998 Details: The system cannot find the path specified (0x80070003))"
    What is interesting:
    - The "Short-Term Protection" to disk runs successfully without error
    - The "Long-Term Protection" to tape fails after writing ~2TB of data to a TL2000 tape loader. (Always appears to fail towards end of job with the above error)
    - In the past (until roughly a month ago) the tape portion of this job was completing successfully.
The DPM logs fail to give much information around the time of error regarding any failures. Likewise windows event logs give no hint of a problem when the job fails.
Looking for any ideas that may help resolve this.
    Cheers!

    Hi
Has it just started happening? What rollup version are you on currently?

  • DPM 2012 SP1 - ID 2033 Details: The system cannot find the path specified 0x80070003.

Seeing a very strange issue on one of servers. Three of the drives are failing the consistency checks with the same type of error.
DPM encountered an error while performing an operation for
\\?\Volume (ID 2033 Details: The system cannot find the path specified (0x80070003))
We have removed the effected drives from the protection group and added them again.  We even removed the whole protection group and re-created it.  That hasn't helped with the issue.
Wondering if you anyone else might have some thoughts on this?  Appreciate your help on this.

Did you get this solved - we're having the same issue. data sources failing on particular folders. delete ds and replica, re-protect and it fails on the same folder/area eventually, although in most cases this seemed to rectify it. It can be user files or
system (winsxs or dedup chunkstore, etc)
If I delete the user files from the protected server that seems to be causuing the dpm server replica trouble then it can help.

    Hello,
We are running DPM 2010 RTM
On a few protected members we get the following error.
    Type: Tape backup
    Status: Failed
Description: DPM encountered an error while performing an operation for c:\users\(username)\favorites\ on SRV-BCK01.domain.com (ID 2033 Details: The system cannot find the path specified (0x80070003))

    Source details: wsl-150.domain.com\User data
    Protection group: Clients
Library: IBM TotalStorage 3573 Tape Library
I looked up the replica destination on the Protection tab and if I browse to this location I also get an error that the path cannot be found.
We can recreate the replica path be removing the protected member and its replica points and the add the member again, but what is causing this issue and/or how can I prevent this.

    Hello:
I may have a solution or explanation for what you have encountered.
We started getting this exact error today for all tape backup jobs.
"RA cannot read from/write to temp area. (ID 30107 Details: The system cannot find the path specified (0x80070003))"
I located another reference telling me DPM on the DPM server needed a folder called TEMP under the main DPM path,
"Program Files\Microsoft DMP\DPM", and that this folder should be shared out with full permissions granted to the local SYSTEM account on the DMP server. The folder was already there but I went to the trouble of sharing it out, granting full permissions
    to local SYSTEM.
That action did not improve the situation.
I did know that a member of our team trying to recover space on the almost full C drive on our DPM server yesterday had been deleting a lot of files. On a hunch I went into the DPM RECOVERY tab and drilled down into the TEMP folder on the DPM server backup
of itself. It was quite full of files and then I noticed a folder called MTA inside it. I manually recreated this folder, leaving it empty. Taking that action appears to have solved the problem as I have been able to run two tape backups now.
So the folder I manually created while logged in as administrator was "c:\program files\Microsoft DPM\DPM\Temp\MTA".
It would not appear to be good practise to create critical subfolders in a folder called TEMP which are not automatically recreated if needed.
So, consider this information and see if it applies to your situation.
    Good Luck.

  • Outlook 2010 - sending mail with attachment - "The system cannot find the file specified"

    Hi forum Fellows,
I have the following failure scenario:
    1. A user receives an e-mail with an attachment.
    2. The user opens the attachment --> Forwards the mail and writes something in the body of the e-mail
    3. For whatever reason the user leaves the e-mail and works on something else --> the user comes back to the e-mail an hour or more later.
    4. The user then wants to send the e-mail but gets the following error message: "The system cannot find the file specified"
    5. The effect is that the user cannot send the e-mail.....
    ------------------------------ TROUBLESHOOTING -----------------------
    - I can see that when the user opens an attachment this attachment is saved in the OutlookTemp folder. Actually, there is a difference between opening the attachment before or after clicking forward on the e-mail.
---- Before: Two files is written to the OutlookTemp folder. For example if the attachment name is FileX.pdf - there will be a FileX.pdf but also a FileX (2).pdf in the folder (if OutlookTemp is empty/do not contain a file with the name FileX.pdf already)
---- After: Only one file is written to OutlookTemp. That is FileX.pdf
    - Running Process Monitor when trying to forward the e-mail I can see that Outlook is calling a file that is not in the OutlookTemp folder anymore.
**** To me this is the heart of the issue. For some reason, when a user has an e-mail with an attachment open for an extended period of time (not sure on exactly how long is necessary), files in the OutlookTemp folder is deleted - files that Outlook is depending
    on to be there.
    - Going with a totally clean OutlookTemp folder does not help.
    ------------------ NOW WHAT ---------------
    - The question now is: Is this by design? Can it be fixed by some Outlook 2010 patch? Or perhaps a group policy/registry setting as a workaround.

    Hello Red Baron,
Although not a complete answer, the way to treat attachments in emails require some discipline:
    1. Never open an attachment directly from the email (and NEVER edit it from there). Always save it in a known location as the desktop or (better) in a designated document folder. Then you can proceed as usual, like editing the contents, printing, forwarding
    the new version etc.
    2. Directly forwarding the attachment is ok, along with additional text in the body of the email.
    3. Having any (unsaved) document open for several hours should
never occur. What if there is a power outage?
Bottom line is thus Discipline. This is regardless of Operating System (which might handle temporary files differently).
These are the rules I teach my customers and they never leave any document unsaved for hours ...
    Best regards George

  • System cannot find the path specified when sending emails with attachments

I've had an on going issue for some time on one of my clients whereby users will intermittently get this error "The System cannot find the path specified." when they try to send an email with an attachment.
The issue seems to arise generally (though reportedly not only when) when someone creates an email and attaches a file but leaves it for some time before finishing and sending.
The staff run in a Windows 2008 R2 full Terminal Server desktop environment on Office 2010 (32-bit 14.0.7140.5002) and several staff have reported the same issue.
I have been able to replicate the issue in their environment by creating an email and leaving it for some time.
After a fair bit of scouting around I found that if I monitor the temp directory that the attachments get placed into (content.outlook under Temporary Internet Files on user profile) and found that the directory with the attachments would disappear after
a period of time which would then cause the error where obviously Outlook could not find the file that had now gone.
I don't know of any Outlook settings that would cause this and the issue isn't related to temporary Internet files filling up as I've recreated the error on a user account where there is nothing else stored in the Temporary Internet Files.
To work around the issue I have changed the reg file that tells Outlook where to place these files (HKCU/Sofware/Microsoft/office/14.0/outlook/security - OutlookSecureTempFolder) to a location in the users home drive.
This appears to resolve the problem however I am noticing 1 issue with this.  Unlike the temp folder which gets purged after a file is no longer required, the location I've changed it to does not clear out old files.
While it shouldn't be too difficult to add a script that can clear the files at log off it would be good to see if anyone may know what the cause of the problem in the first place is.  I would rather it work as it should than have to bodge around changing
the folder and scripting file deletes.
Does anyone know of what maybe causing the attachments and content.outlook folder to disappear?
    thanks

Do you have any redirected folder in your environment? Is the original Temporary Internet Files folder stored on a server?
Basically, the attachments remain in the Outlook Secure Temporary File folder if we exit Microsoft Outlook while email attachments are open. See:

  • KB2785094 fails on Windows 8 Pro N with 0x80070002 "The system cannot find the file specified."

    Hi,
I'm getting 0x80070002 "The system cannot find the file specified." with KB2785094.  I'm using Windows 8 Pro N.  I've seen a few people with problems with this patch when I search online about it.
    I've tried deleting everything in C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\DataStore and C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Downloads.  I've run DISM /scanhealth and /restorehealth.
I also tried running WUSA with the /log option to try to find which file exactly is not found, but when I opened the log file in Event Viewer, it was empty.
How can I found out which file is causing the error?

    I found the answer here:
    http://www.eightforums.com/windows-updates-activation/17523-kb2785094-failure.html
And also by checking the files updated on the KB page: I had deleted the Accessibility and System Tools folders under C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs.  Once I recreated both those folders, it installed without error.  Probably
it was Remote Desktop.lnk.  I was getting the problem on 2 different computers.
Way to go Microsoft!  Now I can't even move around my shortcuts without breaking stuff :)

  • Flash CS6 AIR error: CreateWinProcess failed with error 2. The system cannot find the file specified

I created an AIR application in Adobe Flash CS6, but when I test, debug or publish it, an error always occured.
CreateWinProcess failed with error 2. The system cannot find the file specified.
When I clicked OK, Flash suddenly stops responding, so I need to end the process using Task Manager.
I created a blank FLA document and tested and published it, everything's fine there. It was exported properly. But when I do it with the AIR app, Flash can't even start exporting the SWF of the AIP app, and instead gave me the error.
I speculate that there is something wrong with the Java command line stuff Flash is doing behind the curtain. I tried using ADL myself and get the AIR app working fine.
I also found out that Flash has its own JRE installed, so I don't have to bother the JRE used by my computer.
Is there any way to fix this? Thanks in advance. Have a nice day!

It happens when trying to test, debug, or publish air applications (AIR 2.5 – AIR 3.4 , desktop, android, iOS)
In this case, I can't use the simulator to test the applications,
    thanks

  • Deployment fails with "The system cannot find the path specified"  message

    So, here's my sob story.
I'm running Sun App Server 7 on Windows 2000. Occasionally, when I used asadmin.bat to deploy an ear I get an error message saying "The system cannot find the path specified" . Stopping and restarting the server and running the asadmin.bat command again deploys the ear without any problems.
So, my question is, what causes this to happen? How can I keep it from happening?
If it helps, here's a sample command line sequence and the error message:
prompt% asadmin.bat deploy user xxx password yyy --instance server1 my.ear
    Cannot deploy the component
C:\WINNT\Temp\s1astempdomain1admin-server1589047611\server1\my.ear (The system cannot find the path specified)
Thanks in advance for any help,
    - Alex

You'll probably find useful error messages in the server log. If not, crank up the log level to FINE or above and check again.
