Inconsistent corruption

I posted a problem a few weeks ago.
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=947017&tstart=0
That particular file corrected itself magically a few days after I posted that topic.
I am starting to get the same thing happening again. Last night I posted a gallery that has a few images with blue lines and dropped data. Another weird thing happening is a few half images were posted on the page. When I go into the aperture project I see a few of the weird images but not all. Sometimes when I click on the image the preview will show a corrupted image with the color lines and then it will pop back to normal. I'm wondering what I should do?
Should I reinstall Aperture? Should I move my library to a different HD?
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

If it is my video card, wouldn't I notice other anomalies in other programs?
Not necessarily. Very few programs "exercise" the video card in a multi-threaded environment like Aperture. I'm not sure how many games even do this, but suspect not many.
Aperture not only holds the frame buffer for rendering, but also builds the image in the video card RAM by (my guess here) parsing out the image into multiple blocks for parallel calculation from the RAW values and adjustment values. If a thread isn't picked up properly, or believed finished and it isn't, then an image corruption exists (often a black square/rectangle).
But the symptoms you describe suggest - but not confirm - the video card. Hence the idea of checking the library on another computer, or replacing the video card in the affected computer.

  • Active release procedures

    Dear SAP GURUS,
Is there a transaction code where i can have a look at all the active release strategies.
    Thanx,

    Dear Syed fayazuddin ,
You can figure it out at CL24N or CL20N.
    Example :
    Transaction CL24N
Class        => Fill in class name
    Class Type :     032
If it was active, then you will see
status field = 1     Released and with the "Green Tick" icon.
    or else:
    2     Locked
    3     Incomplete
Sometimes, if you are having inconsistency/corrupted for your release strategy, you will also see some
message indicate that you had inconsistency in these transaction
I see a same duplicate thread, i will advice you close the thread. Also, if this answered your question,
please kindly rewards point to helpful answer and close this thread as well.

    Hi,
Based on the description, you got warnings when you tried to click the mailbox delegation option of mailbox properties in EAC. Is it right?
Did this issue affected only one user mailbox or all of them?
From the error message, it seems that this issue is related to the corrupt permissions. Please use the

    Hi Fellows,

Usually the affected SID objects are referring to deleted objects.
Use the PsGetSid tool to try to resolve them.

  • Deployment Issue: The saved State dictionary contains inconsistent data and might have been corrupted.

    Hi,
I have been working on a C# project. It all works fine except the installer. I can install the project but if I then repair it and then try to un-install it I get the following error:
"An exception occured while uninstalling. This excepion will be ignored and the uninstall will continue. However, the application might not be fully uninstalled after the uninstall is complete --> The saved State dictionary contains inconsistent data and might have been corrupted."
This error happens whenever I try to un-install/repair/modify it having previously tried to repair it. It seems that in repairing it the .InstallState file becomes corrupted. I can un-install it by replacing the .Installstate file with a working version. However the end users will not know how to do this. Is there any way of fixing this?
Just in case it is important: It's a Framework 2 project, built in VS2005, it consists of a windows service and a forms application the service relies heavily on SOAP.
    Thanks for any help,
    Joe

I've got almost the same problem
I can't uninstall service that was just installed with install util. Error message is
An exception occurred during the uninstallation of the .Service.WindowsService.ProjectInstaller installer.System.ArgumentException: The savedState dictionary contains inconsistent data and might have been corrupted.
There was no repair or modify after install.
Then I had removed .InstallState file and installUtil did not find any problem in savedState dictionary ;-)
I checked InstallState file but have not found any visible problem with it

  • Inconsistent Adobe Dynamic Link clip corruption in Premiere Pro (All CS5)

So I'm working towards having seventeen AE compositions in a video I'm cutting with Premiere. I was chugging along just fine until most, but not all, of my clips started showing this strange diagonal line business.
When I drag the timeline over the clear areas the AR comositions look fine but things cut out over the diagonal lines and when I do a render I get what looks like the AE composition minus the odd layer.
I've not deleted or moved any of the component files for the compositions, so I'm not sure what's going on here.
After some looking around the forum, I've seen it suggested that drawing from Multiple AE Projects is a bad idea - that you should have all your compositions in one AE Project to then draw from in Premiere - but have not seen any confirmation of this.
I would greatly appreciate if anyone could help me out here as this is a project I've been working on for almost a year and I'd really like to wrap it up!

Just to be clear: you still can store dynamically linked compositions in different AE projects (which might be useful when your AE projects are quite complex or you need to distribute your work across team members), just avoid incremental numbers at the end of the names.
Dynamic Link is not the best option under all circumstances, and as Craig said sometimes rendering digital intermediate is more efficient. Check this good old discussion on Dynamic Link workflow, pay attention to Todd's comments.

  • Can arguments be corrupted on passing in to function?

    Hello,
I'm seeing something that's got me stumped. Maybe you folks can advise.
What appears to be a valid arguments are getting corrupted when passed to a different function.
    Here is my set up:
    - LibA.a
    - LibB.a
    - SampleApp
    - MyApp
The bad function call is going from LibA in to LibB.
LibA, LibB and SampleApp have all been pre-complied (thankfully in debug mode) by an older version of Sun Studio on Solaris x86/64. SampleApp uses both LibA and LibB and runs just fine on my system.
MyApp uses both LibA and LibB in a manner similar to SampleApp. Yet, MyApp crashes due to this pointer corruption.
When single stepping the code, I see the pointer in the caller being valid and being passed as a parameter. In the callee, the value of the passed-in parameter pointer in simply wrong.
Note: The caller is in the pre-compiled LibA.a and the callee is in the pre-compiled LibB.a I'm never even touching that code to recompile it. Further, the code itself must be correct since SampleApp uses those functions, and runs fine.
Thus, I'm thinking that my error is in the linking stage, but I'm not sure what it could be.
    Any ideas?
    Thank you,
    David

It's impossible to say what is wrong without a fairly complete example, preferably one that could be compiled and run to see the problem. Some generic guesses:
    1. Compiler bug. The code should be recompiled with a new compiler where the bug has been fixed. Impossible to say what sort of bug that might be without a test case.
    2. As in my original comment, the two libraries see inconsistent declarations. For example, after one library was built, a declaration in a common header was changed and the other library, or some binary in it, was built using the different declaration. This kind of error is common when makefiles do not express all the needed dependencies. The fix is to delete all binaries and recompile everything (to be sure no change is missed).
2a. A related error is when common declarations are repeated in .cc files instead of being placed only in header files and included where needed. What are supposed to be identical declarations get out of sync. The fix is to reorganize the source code to eliminate copies of declarations, delete all binaries and recompile everything (to be sure no change is missed).
    3. You are not seeing what you think you are seeing. For example, if the address of a derived class is passed to a pointer-to-base-class, the address might need to be adjusted. In this case, the difference in values is correct, and something else is causing whatever incorrect program behavior you see.

Most likely culprit is your Lacie drives which are notorious for flaky power supplies which cause just the sort of erratic behaviour that you describe. Have had similar issues myself. Lacie has been good about replacing my power converter-- twice. If you have seven of them, good luck finding the bad one or more. Like I said, the behaviour is erratic. Sometimes it'll work sometimes not. I can't comment on Samsung drives because I've never used them and have never heard anything about them. Same with Softraid. Why not just use Disk Utility. Sounds like you're ready for an external hardware raid. This will be much faster, much more reliable, and may even be cheaper than seven firewire drives. Check out G Tech, and Maxx Digital for starters.
    Best of luck

  • Database Inconsistency Nightmare

As an avid user and supporter of Aperture since it's release, I now have an new issue. I am a pro photojournalist using Aperture every day for all my magazine assignment work and I feel like I know the program very well after 2+ years of heavy daily use.
I have never had any serious problems with the program at all, until one week ago.
The problems started when I launched aperture and got a database inconsistency dialog box. I was not too worried as I have had this once or twice in the past and I just relaunched the app with apple and option keys down and rebuilt the database. Everything seemed ok but then I noticed that 2,400 of my 12,000 referenced images were tagged as missing. I thought this was strange, and I used "Manage Referenced Files" to see what was going on and reconnect the missing files. I also noticed that 2 subjects had a second version not in a stack that contained the thumbnail for each image without metadata, while the normal version and stack with metadata had no thumbnail! On my FireWire drive 1 which holds a first copy of all referenced files in my library, each subject has a corresponding folder and I started to reconnect the offline and missing files. For most of the subjects everything went fine, but then there were 4 subjects where I encountered very unexpected problems. Firstly the names of the Master images for some subjects had been changed more that one year earlier, but the reconnect dialog box showed the original filename from the camera as the master filename. It did not want to "Reconnect All" so the only way is one by one!
Then I notice that the smart folders set to show "Offline" and "Missing" masters are inaccurate for some reason.
I even have a few "Managed" masters that will not export because the dialog box comes up to tell me that the image is "Offline" or "Unavailable". What? Ok so at this point I decide that since I have everything backed up on two separate Firewire drives and a server in California, that it may just be cleaner to reinstall Aperture and revert to a recent Vault. I did this and guess what, same problems plus a few more headaches reconnecting masters!
The biggest problem at this point is that for two subjects, the captions and adjustments are in a version that has no thumbnail, shows the "Missing" tag in the Metadata panel listing the original filename from the camera as the Master Filename, while there is a new mysterious version 2 which has a thumbnail, no caption, the offline tag and and shows the correct Master Filename. If I reconnect the masters for these images it still shows as missing for the normal version which has the captions, keywords and adjustments.
At this point I have decided that for two of the subjects One is Versailles 600 images and the other Cyprus 700 images, that I will probably end up having to just reimport these two subjects and manually move the caption for each image.
This is all starting to make me call into question the stability of this type of system for archiving large amounts of images. True that with all the backups and the normal robustness of Aperture you should not loose images. But if the Masters get unlinked in a corrupt way from the database you CAN loose a large part of your post processing work. And the worst seams to be that this can happen even if you DO know what you are doing.
This does not at all mean I am going to stop using Aperture, but it does make me feel a little more weary from an archival standpoint about keeping all metadata and adjustments separate from master images.

Thanks for all your replies. And yes the Project container is a fantastic way to back things up. It is especially useful for moving a project from one Library to another without risk of overwriting files.
Naturally if I could get my corrupt projects in order I would export the projects, including the masters and then reimport them. But Aperture is not going to let me do that with these corrupt Projects, as the masters are not be properly linked. I have tried everything I could think of.
There are still some really weird things going on with the database in my library. One really strange thing is that some referenced images that DO have the master linked and show the normal reference tag, but will not Consolidate as the dialog comes up "The selection does not contain any referenced files".
But then for the same image you can choose "Show in finder" and it goes straight to the master on it's external drive! How strange is that. For that matter it will also not "Relocate Master" for the image because it says that the master is "Offline or cannot be found". OK then here comes the weirdest part: It will export the image without a hitch! Managed referenced files shows these images as connected and black.
Then the other really bad thing is that some of the managed images will not export or relocate as the dialog comes up "Offline or cannot be found". I have rebuilt the library and everything else to no avail.
The thing that bothers me about this is that if this can happen to me, who spends untold hours on Aperture and on the computer in general and I believe I do know quite a lot about the program, what is going to happen to the many photographers who do not fully grasp the abstract file management of Aperture?
Maybe it is more stable to run your Library as Managed, but for working photographers who are usually laptop users it is almost essential to keep the masters on an external Ruggged drive. If you put the Library on the external drive the performance which is already sometimes sluggish when you need to work very quickly (even with the most powerful MacBook Pro) becomes too beach ball when on an external drive.
In any event I think that if I can ever get my Library back in order, in addition to the many backups of masters and vaults, I am going to export each project including masters and back that up too on a regular basis. Seems like a lot of work backing up to maintain the integrity of a database!
    Cheers

    ================================================================
The corruption is being reported in a free space block of the ORDER_DATA_01.DBF.
I’ve checked all the tables (and indexes) in this tablespace and none report corruption.
=====================================================Is there any action I need to take to remove corruption at this point? It is not affected any operation on the database yet.
What is the best way to do get rid of the corrupt block, without dropping and rebuillding the full tablespace(which is around 6 GB -total of 3 datafiles)
    Thanks a lot

Can RMAN recover the datablock from this cold backup(which is a week old, the data file was not corrupted then) ?Please note that to do the recovery, you would need the backup and the archivelog files since the backup. Think about what you are asking to do. Its a single block whose recovery you are asking from a week old backup which obviously would be on an much older SCN compared to the rest of the database. How would you make that block consistent with the rest of the datafile. If you don't have archivelog in that db whose block is corrupted, you may forget that block and any data that it might ever had. Also, please read the documentation about the block recovery which explains the requirements very clearly,
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11882_01/backup.112/e10642/rcmblock.htm#BRADV89784
From the above link, 1st point,
The target database must run in ARCHIVELOG mode and be open or mounted with a current control file.HTH
