Inconsistent downloading

I am using a Canon ZR65 DV Camera, which I have used many times before. After a break of several months, I tried downloading video taped on this camera. I press play on the camera, then select "Capture". The screen image freezes while the camera continues to play. After several minutes, the screen image unfreezes and downloading continues normally. After the capture is complete, I find the video from the selection is frozen (during the part where the video froze), but the audio downloaded correctly. The remainder of the video, after the frozen part, is perfect. This occurs at any spot I start recording, not just the beginning of the tape.

If you have another external FW device connected at the same time as your ZR65, you should disconnect it. The Canon cameras do not like anything else on the FW bus when they are connected.

Inconsistent download speed

I have FIOS 15 / 5 plan. It all seemed fine when I first have it installed, but this week the internet speed has been terribly inconsistent. Using "speedtest.net", upload speed is close to 5Mbps, but download ranges from 2-10Mbps during evening hours, and latency reached 100ms+. Last night was the worst - I was getting 1.1 Mbps download. Not just "speedtest.net" shows it is slow. Opening various web pages became painfully slow too. All tests were done using wired network.What is happening with Verizon?
Some records speedtest kept on the browser. 3 numbers are download, upload and latency.

Thanks for the info. I think you are quite right. Tonight again fios slowed down to a crawl. I ran a couple of tests as you suggested:
speedtest.Verizon.net gave me this result:
down:2.52 Mbps
up: 5.02 Mbps
and ndt.anl.gov gave this result:
down: 1.78 Mbps
up: 5.19 Mbps
and slowest link in the end-to-end path is a 622 Mbps OC-12 subnet
All tests done on a macbook pro/chrome. During the day, easy to get 15 Mbps down, so I don't think it is related to my home network. Upload is always very consistent at 5 Mbps, which is strange.

SLOW inconsistent download speeds

OK here's my story.
Currently paying 25 download/25 upload on my internet. Past few days noticed some lag on my
internet activity, ran speed tests on different sites and most numbers were similar and that I was getting
around 1-5mb download/ around 20 upload. But when I check Verizon's speed tests. IM getting an
amazing 30mps/30mps which IM sure is not the case.
called verizon. they said they dont see any problems at their end. did the basic troubleshooting. and reached
to the point that a new router could be the solution. got a new router. got a new IP. plugged it in and still
NO changes to my connections. Is anyone else having this problem? I have given up on verizon support. and if i cant
get solutions here. i think Optimum online is my next option.

Very high Latency and inconsistent download speeds

Hi all,
This is my first time on these forums and hopefully i can find some help for my horrible problem.
For the last 2-3 weeks my latency has consistently been 200+, i like to play online games alot and i cant with this latency. I have gone threw the whole drill of ringing BT and following there advice and i even had a BT engineer come out and he couldnt' find any problems. BT said they checked my line and couldn't find anything wrong, and the engineer didn't find any problems with the router (black).
I also have changed all of the wiring from the socket in the wall, which leads to the router, which leaders to a modem (i think its called that) that then connects me to the internet (Cable).
I am running out of patience as i spend alot of time on games such as Call of Duty and seeing my mates play it as i have 300+ ping is really annoying.
I Have noticed that the other computer my parents use also have the same high latency issue and they have tried it on cable and wireless with the same bad results. I have a program called xfire which shows my ping for all the servers on my list and there all 200+ but sometimes when i test my speeds on speedtest.net it shows me with 50 ping i believe this is due to the large spikes that i get, when im on call of duty it constantly jumps around 100, 150, 200 and sometimes even 50.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Very Inconsistent download speed and slow upload

My first post. We have had BT Total Broadband since last July, until Christmas it was pretty much OK with a downspeed of ~4 Mbps. Since Christmas this has been all over the place from 0.5 up to the full 4 Mbps. I try not to reset the router as I heard this can lower the IP profile of the line, below I have screenshot the stats taken from the homehub. The hub usually maintains that we have a connection of 4 Mbps but the BT speedtest and others show it to be very slow at times. In addition the upload connection is VERY slow, making tools like Dropbox very sluggish. Any ideas?

very stable connection of 4mb but noise margin higher than normal 6db. can you run http://speedtest.btwholesale.com/ and after first test completes run the diagnostic test and post the results.
try quiet line test dial 17070 option 2 should hear nothing

Inconsistent downloads and inability to use iTunes

I have a problem with my isa570. Ever since I started using it it sometimes takes me two or three clicks to get a website to load. Also connecting to iTunes is almost impossible. It does work sometimes but then very slowly. I have switched off application control. Can anybody help?

I apologize for your inconvenience you are having, to resolve the Itunes issue you can create an ACL allowing this web page, gs.apple.com. about your performance issue, sometimes your device CPU is at 100%, the cause of this problem could that you are overloading the device, you could have performance problems due to the amount of services you have activated, for example if you have enabled the IPS, if you have too many VPN, routes, too many access-rules and others features enabled it could affect the performance I recommend you disable the features you are not using, you can also perform a factory reset and configure just the necessary features you need. Other think that you could check is the MTU size, try with 1450.

My neighbor TC is interfering with my Airport

My Airport Epress wifi network started acting up a few days ago: unable tto acquire IP address, intermittent drops, slow to connect to web sites, dropped Skype calls, very inconsistent download rates. At the same time my neighbor's (we bot have encrypted networks and don't have our respective passwords) iTunes library appeared in my iTunes client. Also, her Time Capsule appears when I open Airport Utility.
What is going on and what can I do to limit or eliminate the intereference ? I use a old MacBook (late 2006) and a more recent W7 laptop and a Tivo box in my home.

download iStumbler and note the channel your neighbor's network is broadcasting on. *change the channel(s) of your network as far away as possible from it*.
alternatively, hardwire all your gear to the TC. you could use a pair of *powerline adapters* _*such as these*_, for instance.

Default pdf files to Adobe Reader not Preview

Pdf files always open in Preview. How can I tell my system to open them in Adobe Reader?

I am sorry but have same problem and do not understand what appears to be your very simple instructions. I just installed Adobe Acrobat 9 and when directed my Mac to set Adobe as the default; however, when opening a .pdf document off my university website the only choice I am given is to open the doc in Preview, which results in very inconsistent downloads--sometimes just one page, sometimes just a partial article. In what application do I access "Get Info" and "Open With" etc.?

I have had a bit of trouble with inconsistent download speeds. I did post on the forums and got a lot of help from the guys so praise for that. I did phone the BT help line who passed my problem higher up and today BT telephoned me asking if everything OK now which I had to say yes he did not say what had been done but my profile has gone back to 77mbps from the day before which had been dropped to 69mbps speeds now are stable long may it stay this way. So praise for BT.

Doesn't matter how far from the exchange actually.

Firefox worked fine yesterday, but today it wont load. I tried unstalling and downloaded a new version. Got message the extended attributes are inconsistant.

ATried to open Firefox browser to read mail but it wouldnt open. An error message indicated something about version 12 and version 11 issues so I uninstalled Firefox and used Explorer to download a fresh copy. Wouldnt install.

Thank you for the reply. I forgot to mention that I did run scans for viruses and malware and came up clean.
I ran the System File Checker and it told me there are corrupt files that could not be repaired. I dont understand all the info that I read on the CBS.log, but from what I gather from the link you provided I'll be doing a reformat today. :(
What puzzles me is the fact that all was well when I shut down my computer but by morning there were corrupt files????? Strange no virus, no malware so what on earth happened? The million dollar question.:)

Spotlight inconsistent - files in Downloads folder and/or SeeAllResults

I'm currently assessing Punakea http://www.nudgenudge.eu/home, an app that allows one to tag files and stuff. It uses the comments field so in theory everything is still findable via Spotlight.
When tagging a file with Punakea one to choose to leave the file where it is, or to move it to Punakea's folder.
After much to-ing and fro-ing where I thought I was going mad, I have narrowed it to 6 test cases.
3 files in Download folder
- file A I manually added comment @AKK
- file B I used Punakea to add tag AKK and left file in place
- file C I used Punakea to add tag AKK and asked Punakea to move file
3 files in Mail Download folder
- file D I manually added comment @AKK
- file E I used Punakea to add tag AKK and left file in place
- file F I used Punakea to add tag AKK and asked Punakea to move file
A Punakea tag looks like this:###begintags###@AKK;###endtags###
(though there are some spaces up the front)
Then I searched in Spotlight for @AKK and it only found files A, D, E, F. Clearly Spotlight was treating the Downloads folder differently. I used the Spotlight preferences to first exclude that folder -- and file A stopped appearing. Then I removed the exclusion and, after some audible disk whirring, file B appeared.
So I thought I had fixed the problem, so tried another to match the file C case, and then noticed that file B had disappeared again.
I realised that I was on OS 10.5.2 so I upgraded to 10.5.4 and repeated the Spotlight preference changes, but got the same results.
For good measure, I removed Punakea's folder from Spotlight, and correclty file F dissappeared.
I then reinstated it, and I finally saw all 6 of the files listed. I clicked on Show all results and saw all 6. Came back to this post to keep typing - and then went back to check again - and now there's only 4 again - B and C have gone.
I must confess that throughout this whole test sometimes I have juts looked at the files in the Spotlight drop down, and other times I have used the 'See all results' - am now starting to consider that this is part of the issue, and so I need to repeat the whole exercise.
Throughout all of this Punakea found its files, B, C, E and F.
I suppose one workaround is to create a new Downloads folder for Firefox and use that instead.
There was a post to the Punakea forum http://www.nudgenudge.eu/support/spotlight-indexing-behavior which makes me realise I'm not the first person to fall down this particular rabbit hole.

NS Internal Inconsistency Exception Error when downloading from OS 10.6.8 to OX Yosimite

I am getting this when I am upgrading from 10.6.8 to OS X Yosemite I am receiving the NS Internal Inconsistency Exception Error.

What do I have to do.. I have checked all the requirements before upgrading.. How can this be fixed?

There seem to be a number of 10.6.8 users getting this error...if you have at least a MacBook Pro3,1 you may want to wait a day or two for the server load to drop so you get faster and more reliable data transfer. The file is 5.16 GB and an take long enough for packets to get messed up on the way.

Excel 2013 doesn't display .xls file downloaded from Wells Fargo (Inconsistent)

I have two computers exhibiting the same problem but not every time.
Windows 7 Pro 64-bit
Office 2013 64-bit
Download an .xls file through Chrome or IE.
Download is fine
Attempt to click to open.
Excel Launches, appears in the taskbar, file never opens... Excel is unresponsive.
Right Click Task Bar icon, program will close. You can open other files just fine.
I noticed when you double click the file to open, two excel.exe processes open in Task Manager... not sure if that is normal. When you close excel, they both disappear.

In regarding of the issue, please provide us more information to assist you better.
Did this issue only occur with the .xls files downloaded from Wells Fargo website? Have you tried from other website, such as OneDrive?
Have you tried to download some .xlsx files to test from Wells Fargo website?
Please do some tests to narrow down the issue.
1) Try to convert the .xls files to .xlsx files, if we can open the .xlsx correctly, this issue may be caused by the compatibility issue between Office 2013 and Office 97-2003 format. Thus, I recommend you convert the file to Excel 2013
format.
2) Open the Excel program first=>Click Open=>Navigate to the file=>Then open it. If it also can be opened correctly, this issue may be caused by the Dynamic Data Exchange. Please try to turn off the "Ignore other applications that use
Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE)“ setting.
Steps:
1.Click the File tab, and then click Options.
2.Click Advanced, scroll down to the General section, and then clear the Ignore other applications that use Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE) check box in the General area.
3.Click OK.

Downloaded Premier Elements 9 It does not have SartSound in the Audio Tools Button. How can I get it

Having pruchased Premier Elements vis download, I obviously have not installations disc. After working on a project, I went into audio tools to open SmartSound Quicks. It was not included in the tools menu. I know you can add it to tools if you purchased Pre 9 retail and have the disc. Is this an error in that it is not included in the download version? If not, why was not downloaded and how can I get it? Is there a plugin available. Smart sound shows one I believe for Pre pro. Will that work for Pre 9?

As one of the respondents mentioned, you can't use AirPlay. What was not mentioned is you can use HomeSharing.
You need to activate Home Sharing on both your computer's iTunes/Prefs/Sharing and in Settings/iPod in the iPad. Using the iPod app, select your computer's library and initiate any requests (music) on the iPad.
Personally I believe Airsharing and Homesharing are some of the worst work I've seen come out of Apple. Its inconsistent between devices and is needlessly complicated by having two different capabilities essentially doing the same thing. Throw in the Remote app and you now have three capabilities essentially doing the same thing with different interfaces and inconsistent functionality.
