Inconsistent for some material in Material master

During creation for some material I am facing an error "The material type does not exist" Message no. M3104. It happens with all material type.
However, I have already found the reason for that. The material was already created before (year 2011) with ZMAK material type (but no transaction yet) and now the material type is deleted from production server. I can see the material in MARA table. It shows the material type which already has been deleted.
Also I can see the material into all table MARC, MARD, MBEW, MAKT, MARM.
But the interesting thing is that, I can't see the material in MM60.
I can realize there are some inconsistent. But the data is available in all tables, so why I can't see the material in MM60 ?
I have an option to re-create the material type. But it is my last option. Is there any other option to make the material visible in MM60 (without creating the material type).

For workaround, you can create new material type FERT and transfer to production system, create material code FESEN045* or FESEN045. Or FESEN045’ not same material code FESEN045 (which is not possible) with material type FERT. Once done, you can do material to material transfer with MB1B with 309 movement type. If quantum of materials is more, you can go for BDC with MB1B with 309 movement type.
Later you can delete material number FESEN045 with material type ZMAK and once all done, change material code to FESEN045 from material code FESEN045* for material type FERT.
Or else you can have a mini project; keep all material stock created with material type ZMAK.
You can create new material type FERT and then transfer to production system. Create new material code with new material type FERT and then go for MMAM. Finally add stock to new material code.

Restrict change authorization for MM17 (Material master mass maintenance)

Hi,
Apologies if I have posted this in the wrong forum. I want to know if it is possible to use the mass maintenance transaction MM17 (indus. material) to display data only istead of change/create. Is there some setting at the basis object level which can enable this? There are currently a lot of custom abap reports and queries in our system for viewing material master data, these can all be replaced by MM17. Basically we want to use MM17 as a reporting tool to display data only. Is a solution possible? Help is appreciated, thanks.

Have you tried the MM Information System node in the SAP Easy Access menu? There are a bunch of standard reports with navigation options there, for the user who has the correct authorization to display only.
Alternately, you may want to take a look into transaction MASS and use the B_MASSMAIN object, depending on your requirements - but test it well.

Vendor information for some material's is missing in the report ?

One of my user has raised a request that the vendor information for some material is not displayed in report where as its available in ECC, now i have checked in BI that information for 20 material numbers is missing even in BI that is the reason not showing in the report. Now what do I do ? Can you please suggest.

Adobe form for loading material master

Hello
I am looking at adobe form for loading material master. We are currently on ECC 6.0 but without netweaver however reading some of the documents on the internet most of them talk about netweaver. Is netweaver a pre-requisite for interface from adobe form?!

PO created using fm BAPI_PRODORD_CREATE...Fails to create for some material

Hi,
I am creating PO using BAPI_PRODORD_CREATE......
I am passing order data and afs data....
For some material PO is not created....
Before passing data to function mo. BAPI_PRODORD_CREATE all the data is correct....
But after executing bapi PO is not created for some materials.....
I debugged the bapi...not found any error......
Can anybody help me with this issue........

Screen Level Security for the Material Master

We need to create security for the material master by screen views. The Purchasing group needs to be able to change the Purchasing and MRP screens but none of the other screens. How would we accomplish this with SAP security?

It is hard for us to know how your authorization profiles or roles are constructed. You really should consult your local authorization expert.
The Authorization object you are looking for is M_MATE_STA. It is probably contained in at least one of your Roles or Profiles that are currently assigned to your MM maintenance people. At a minimum, it should exist in standard SAP profile M_MATE_ALL in your system. You can review all of these types of authorization info in the User Information System (transaction SUIM).
You would have to create roles or profiles that narrowly define the "User department" fields for M_MATE_STA object. You would also have to search for existing roles/profiles that contain "*" in this field, and determine if these entries are still appropriate in your new authorization business process you want to begin.

Maintenance status authorization for material master records
The data contained in a material master record is divided into user departments or views (Purchasing, MRP, and so on). The maintenance status is a single-character key for the relevant user department or view.

To use material master functions, a user needs the authorization for at least one user department.

There's no BAPI_MATERIAL_SAVEDATA.
I try to use BAPI_MATERIAL_MAINTAINDATA_RT,
but seems that BAPI only for retail.

Material number suffixing with ! for some material in material master

Hi Friends,
We have uploaded material master data with BDC . but for some of materials contain ! sign at the end of the material number. Means , at the 18th charecter ! is appearing. but it does not appear in mm03 while displaying. and even while finding it from MARA if we put material number without ! sign then we can possible to get that material. and it does not allow us to crate material with same material number withought ! sign.
But if while creating material if we put material with ! at the 18th charecter it creates material with ! sign but while searchig from MARA if you dont put ! sign with material number we can not get that material as output and if we create other material without ! sign it allows to create the material.
Please can you tell me what is the reson why ! is getting added at the end of material number ... do any1 of you have faced the same kind of situation and found for what reason it is coming....

Hi,
This is due to config. In our case whenever we enter 8 digit number for Eg:
12345678 material will be created as 1234.5678 a dot will appear after every 4 digits.
But when we actually look at mara we wont find the dot (.) .
We can do this by config by setting perfix and sufix to the material number. actually these characters will not be stored in DB.
It will be shown in output when the function module CONV_EXIT_MATN1_OUTPUT runs.
check config in OMSL transaction.
In TMCNV table check field TEMPLATE it will have the template how the material number should be in our case its ____.____

Pre-checks for changing some material master data

Hi,
Are there any pre checks (ie. no open documents) needed when changing the following items via MM17:
1.                   Storage Location
2.                   Account Assignment Group
3.                   Transportation Group
4.                   Purchasing Value Key
5.                   MRP Group
6.                   Scheduling Margin Key
The materials have existing purchase orders and some have sales orders. Will there be any impact when the data are changed? Thanks.

You can not change the storage location for a material.but you can extend the material to another storage location.
other changes will not have effect on existing docs.
Try MEMASSPO to update open PO's with new storage location.Select EKPO and add storage location in selection fields.

Is there a transaction where I can see all materials that have had changes to their material master within a date range?
Example: I want to see all materials that had changes to their master between Sept 7th and Sept 10th

How much space it is occupying for each Material Master in MARA table.

If one of the functional consultant creates a Material Master in MARA how much space it will occupy for each. Like we need to create 10000 material masters.
How can i access exactly to that table in terms of db growth.

select blocks from dba_tables where table_name='MARA';
then add 8 entries. then same command:
select blocks from dba_tables where table_name='MARA';
check difference between the 2, you will get a small number, you will get the number of Kbytes used per record.

Screen enhancement for tab Material Master of CV02N

I have a requirement to modify tab for material master in object links (transaction CV02N) .
Currently, there are only 2 fields-material & description.
The requirement wants to add 2 coloumn, AEOI-REVLV &a checkbox for user selection to do material revlv sync.
Then how can I just update the tab?

There is a customer screen available and SAP has provided the same to add new fields: SAPLCV110 00200- SCRCUST -SAP 100 (Check in SMOD transaction)
Once you have implemented the screen, you need to add the code in the below exits for transfer of data to and fro from the screen fields to the database tables.
EXIT_SAPLCV110_002: Transfer data to the customer enhancement
EXIT_SAPLCV110_003 : Transfer data from the customer enhancement
