Inconsistent icon sizes within same folder view

Subject says it all - each of the folders (as you could probably surmise) are just the extra documentation and such from some of the apps I use. But I don't know why the one folder's icon is smaller than the others in the same folder/view - that just strikes me as odd. Has anyone else noticed behavior as such?

I believe that is a custom icon from the TidyUp authors....not something you can control unless of course you want to replace it....speak up if that's important.

  • Icon size in Application folder

WHen viewing the application folder from the Dock, the icons have now been enlarged and I have to scroll through the application folder to find apps, how can I reduce the icon size within the Application folder? when viewed from the Dock?
    Thanks
    John

Actually, you don't even have go to the View menu for the slider. It should be at the lower right of your Finder window in Icon View. AFA the alias in your Dock, poof it and create a new one by dragging your
apps folder to the Dock. Don't do it from the Sidebar, do it from Computer/Macintosh HD/Applications.

  • Icon Size Within Dock Folders

I would like to change the icon size within the applications folder, it seems rather large, I liked the size of the previous OS icons. It's no big deal but it looks comical compared to the rest of 10.6 visually.

    no, that's fixed.

  • Font size in email folder view

I'm hoping that someone out there has figured out the solution to this problem. I have an IMAP email account synced to my iPhone - and I have my emails organised into folders, which are also synced across.
That's all great, but I find that I can only read part of the folder names once I get one or two levels down the folder tree. Is there anyway to decrease the font size in the email folder view so the whole folder names can be seen? If not, anyone have any other bright ideas for a workaround?
    Thanks, guys!

Well, when it is happening it happens to all emails in the email app. The behavior is very strange. Again, it's as if all the emails are zoomed out. The only way to fix it that I can see is to hold the power button down and reboot the phone. When it comes back up it's normal....for awhile. I haven't figured out what triggers the behavior.

  • Why is Bridge displaying thumbnails in different sizes in same folder?

    Please see screenshot below:
I'm working with large image files, about 10k pixels square, 300Mb or so. They start out as tifs, but when I adjust in Photoshop, then save, sometimes the thumbnails get miniaturized (not always). File size is slightly larger, but that does not seem to be a factor.
NOW I just thought of something:
In Preferences, there is the "Do not process files over - - - size." Now, I have it set for 1GB, but I just checked it and saw this: "Previously cached files will not be affected by changes to this setting. This setting takes effect after the cache has been purged." So maybe what happened is that when I loaded CS5 recently, and changed the setting to 1GB, it didn't take effect as I did not purge the cache.
BUT some of the mini thumbnails files are actually smaller than their larger brethren. I would be willing to try purging anyway, except for my fear that it is going to take HOURS. I mean I have thousands of files, many of them this size or larger. Any thoughts?

I mean I have thousands of files, many of them this size or larger. Any
    thoughts?
This seems to happen randomly and might also be caused by having a very
large cache file in the preference folder combined with less free disk space
and doing some actions in Bridge to fast whilst previous job is still
caching in the background. But that is purely a personal thought without
    scientific proof I'm afraid...
However it is indeed cache related and purging cache is the solution. But
luckily there are other ways then purging the entire cache in one go. First
you can try is hit the F5 key to refresh the window (menu view/refresh)
    Sometimes this helps.
Second is to select the files that have the small icon. Sometimes this is
enough to rebuild them but quicker is to select one or multiple files and
with right mouse click choose 'purge cache for selection' from the menu. The
bigger the files the longer it takes to build the cache but with only a few
selected it is only a few seconds to a minute for it rebuilds itself.
And while having a coffee break you can choose from the menu
Tools/cache/purge cache for folder and let the folder recache. Depending on
the amount of content it surely will be done before you have emptied half of
of your coffee cup (that is also depending on size and content of coffee cup
    and your thirst...)

  • How to change icon size in iWorks media viewer

    Hi
I have just upgraded my wife's macbook from 10.6.8 to 10.8.2 and she uses pages a lot
The media viewer in pages seems to have just one size for the icons of the photos. You used to be able to drage a slider to increase the size
I have tried all the ctrl key type ideas but nothing
Why do they delete features that are d=so useful or hide them in non obvious palecs and make it hard for the less technical user.
I have been using pages since the first and a Apple since 1980 and support 500 machines - most using pages so I would appreciate any help.
Mountain Lion has made Pages a little less friendly

  • Opening a file (viewed as icons) from within application  icons too large!

Help! I'm not a newbie LOL.. I don't know when this error happened but apparently I cant just do a command J to get the view options to pop up while in an application. Here's my problem. I can view files as icons prefectly from within finder. I setup the default a long time ago and it is formatted fine. Now when I open a file from any application, for instnace firefox or NeoOffice.. .. all the icons are like 120x120 in size.. annoying. I attempted to use Alt-J to pop up view options, no go.. it appears you can't bring up view options while opening a file as an app, you can only alter view type.. icons/list/etc. Is there a command I can issue in applesrcipt or whatever to popup view options so I can fix this ?
I THINK I know how I foobarred it. I was playing around with preview and I jacked up the icon size so I can see larger images of the home movies I created.
that was when I was running 10.4.x
I've been looking through the knowledge bases, I didn't see anything.
    Your help would be appreciated.
    Thanls.

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether your problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode* and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Shut down your computer, wait 30 seconds, and then hold down the shift key while pressing the power button.
When you see the gray Apple logo, release the shift key.
If you are prompted to log in, type your password, and then hold down the shift key again as you click  Log in.
*Note: If FileVault is enabled under OS X 10.7 or later, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t boot in safe mode. Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.  The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • How do I turn off and on the icon size slider bar at the lower right status bar of a folder window.

I have been trying for days to help a friend with a new iMac to turn on the icon size slider bar that on my iMac appears at the bottom of ever folder when it is open when in the "view" > "icon" mode.  I cannot find anything that discusses this slider bar.  I can turn this status bar off and on on both my machine and my friends machine, but I cannot turn off or on the slider on either machine.

This did not help.  I am a Mac User since 1984 and generally I am never stymied buy the Mac OS, but this one has me.   I can open and close the lower status bar, as you described, and that works fine for me because I have the icon slider bar already there and it works fine; however when I open the lower status bar on my friends machine there is no icon size slider bar, and I can't seem to find out how to get it there, as it is on my machine or at all. The icon size can be controlled from the View menu, but as a photographer, it is really handy to have it at the bottom of the folder window.  Thanks for trying.

  • Kde4 folder view icon text

I'm still getting used to kde4, and at first I hated it but now it's slowly starting to grow on me. My question is: is there a way to change how much text is displayed and the spacing of icons in the "folder view" widget. Right now folder view displays the first 8 characters of a file, and that's not quite enough.

I got kde 4.2 today and the problem even got worse, now I cannot go into any configuration-menu... and at one point I couldn't even get into kde..! I installed gnome, which runs just fine, but I want back and toy around with kde. I've tried completely removing kde from my computer, but the same problem I get when I install it again.
I did a 'locate kde' which shows a lot of kde-things even though it should be removed from the system.
I am thinking of doing a complete archlinux reinstall, but that is against my principles... so, how can I completely remove kde from my computer and start all over again?
Oh boy, no need for this.  It won't even help you a thing.  Just mv you .kde4 folder to i.e. _kde4_bak.  This resets completely.

  • Links - How to reorder links within a folder. Also, how to make folders open in a tree view?

I'm working on a portal in Sharepoint 2007. It appears that I can only have one set of "Links" on a page, so I am grouping my related links into folders. I'm having two issues with this...
#1. I need to change the order of the links within a folder. When I try to Change Order under the Actions menu, I only get the main list of links, not those within the folder. How can I reorder links within a folder?
#2. When I click a Links folder, all links go away, except for the links within that folder. Is there any way to make the Links list work in a Tree view?
Sorry for the newbie questions, but I've not worked much in Sharepoint and I had this project dropped on me.  :(

    Hi,
    For Question #1,

  • How do I sort photos WITHIN folder view?

Okay, I'll admit, to me, Adobe has always been defined as "too many features and too confusing to me," but I'll give it a shot.
I looked through help, etc. and I have a seemingly simple question - how do I sort photos, new to old, WITHIN folder view of the browser? I don't WANT to show ALL my photos, just folder by folder, oldest to new, NOT by filename!
This is a simple right-click context menu in Paint Shop Pro, has been for many versions. Why can't I find how/where to do this in Photoshop Elements? It's the kind of thing that makes simpletons like me keep running away from complex Adobe products.
Help me, SOMEONE, through this seemingly simple task and... I'll be most appreciative.

    >how do I sort photos, new to old, WITHIN folder view of the browser? I don't WANT to show ALL my photos, just folder by folder, oldest to new, NOT by filename!
Well since folders are not the primary method of using the Photo Browser in Elements, I don't think that folder view has everything that you want.
If you want to look at a single folder in this sequence you could use the Instant Tag function to apply the tag to all photos in that folder, then use a Tag search by clicking on the box to the left of the tag that is the folder name and then choose oldest first while displaying just the photo files from that folder. This may sound long, but it takes lees time to do than it takes to type a description.

  • Multiple Instances of Same Application Icons in iTunes App Folder

I recently sync'ed my iPhone to iTunes on my MBP. After doing so I noticed that in the iTunes application folder there was 2 icons for each of my application that I have. Only one icon though on my iPhone. Running a sync a third time I got 3 icons in the applications folder for each application, but again only one instance of the application icon on my iPhone.
I am not sure why this is occuring, but need some help to ensure that iTunes is reflecting the applications correctly.
Why this is importance, is I can now no longer update my paid applications, via the iPhone and the Apps Store shows I need the same update 3 times, but will not download, as it claims the update was already performed.
Something is messed up and need some guidance and help. PLEASE
    Thanks

Yes, I migrated my iTunes directory, and after the migration, everything looked fine. Only one set of icons. It was not until I started to sync the itunes on my new MBP that the duplicating of icons started.
I try to delete the duplicate icons, but in doing so it will delete the application on the iPhone.
It there a registry that stores the icon to file associations?
If I look in the music/iTunes/Mobile Applications folder there is only 1 instance of the *.ipa for each application. So why does iTunes have 3 copies of the icons pointing to the one *.ipa file. There must be an internal itunes registry that has made the icon associations. That is what needs cleaning out. I just do not know where that would be, given there is only one *.ipa file under the iTunes file structure.
Can anyone help determine how to clean up the multiple icons?
    Thanks

I haven't watched that video, but if you move photos in your operating system ... Lightroom does NOT automatically find these photos. Finding photos that have been moved is NOT a feature of Lightroom. So, there is no fix for this.
You would have to tell Lightroom where the photos are now located, as explained in the link from 99jon
If you must move photos, move them inside of Lightroom, not in your operating system, or better yet — don't move them, and use Lightroom tools such as keywords and other metadata to achieve organization.

  • Is there a way to change a single file/folder's icon size?

Is there a way to change a single file or folders icon size independant of the rest? So say, you want the HD's on the desktop to be larger than the other files icon sizes?
I know about view options but thats not quite what I'm looking for.
Is there a way to do this through terminal, or an aftermarket program?

  • Multiple files with the same file name within the same folder

It looks like a finder bug. To replicate, I surf to any website, I right-click on a jpg image, select "Save Image As" and in the window that pops up I type in the filename "000.jpg", I select the folder Pictures, and click on Save.
BTW, I don't know why, but the file was saved only as "000" without the file extension ".jpg". Does anybody know why?
Then I surf to another image, and again I save it as "000.jpg" and now it asks me if I want to replace the existing filename, although the existing one is "000" and I try to save as "000.jpg", so I say yes, and then magically the file is saved with the full filename including the extension "000.jpg"
When I did it a couple of times, always saving image as "000.jpg" from various sources, I ended up with two distinct files named "000" and both in the same folder Pictures.
    Please advise.

the extension is simply hidden. go to the get info panel for the file and uncheck the option to hide the extension.

it sounds to me like you saved one file as 000.jpg and the other and 000.jpg.jpg.
check the info panels for the files for full names to verify if this is the case.
