Inconsistent info, 2 iPhones, one account?

Upgraded my phone and now my app library shows that I have 4 updates available but when I try to update I get "No updates are currently available. To check for updates for another account, sign in with that account." I only have one account but 2 iPhones. Sync'd them both but still getting the same message. Any ideas?

Thanks for the response Dave. You were right, when I checked the way you explained, I found many (most) purchased with a (now) non-existant email address. Is there a way to merge the old with the new?
Sorry but no, there isn't. You'll need to use both the old and new iTunes Store IDs to get your apps updated.

  • One imac, two iphones. one account has current itunes, other side will not download current itunes. Downloaded from apple website, did not help. help?

We have one imac, two iphones, two imac/iphone user accounts. My account updated itunes and the phone quite easily. The other side will not update itunes  - it shows there is an update available, then says there is not. I tried installing from the apple store. It installed, but did not change the version of itunes active on the computer (we even turned it off and on, a la Windows).  SO we synced his phone with my side - it updated the OS, but otherwise restored the phone to factory settings. (he is not happy). So I tried to restore it from a backup on his side just to see what would happen, and of course it can't because the phone's software is more current that his itunes.
So we're in a maddening loop.  Factory settings, no updated itunes, no access to the backups.

The feed is fine. The problem lies with the URL for the media files. I checked the latest episode; the file will play in a browser, and as you say on the iTunes Store; but when subscribing there is an error message that the file requires authentication.
This would happen if you had password-protected it, but that would also appear when playing in a browser. The use of PHP or similar to serve the files is asking for trouble - sometimes it works, sometimes it upsets either the Store or subscribing or both. In this case it would seem that either the scripting is throwing iTunes and leading it to believe that a password is required (though it's not bringing up the pane asking for one), or your server is reacting differently to requests from the iTunes application to the way it reacts to requests from the Store or a browser, where the protocol is different.
It's not an iTunes problem. Strictly you should be putting the actual URL of the file in the feed, not a script; and you may need to check your server settings top make sure it allows downloading in iTunes as well as playing elsewhere.

  • Two iPhones, One account. Contacts overwritten

I have two iPhones linked to one account, since using iCloud my daughter's iPhone contacts have overwritten the contacts on my phone and mac. Is there any way of getting them back? I've tried restoring but it looks like its been that what way for a while, I didn't realise because I usually make calls from favourites and most of those where also on her phone.

Sorted problem using Address Book Help on mac. I should not have underestimated how good it can be.
Just needed to attach my external drive, Open Address Book, then open Time Machine, that way I could view the contents of my previous Address Books. When a date was found holding all my contacts I highlighted them then restored. So easy when you know how.

  • Two iPhones, one account, 1 iPhone creates separate "Purchased" playlist

We have two iPhones and one iTunes account. When we buy music on one phone it creates a separate "Purchased on Blah Blah's iPhone" list when synced back to the computer. The other phones purchased music goes into our regular "Purchased" list. Kind of annoying, any fixes?
    Thanks

Correct you need 2 MobileMe accounts, a family setup will be fine.

  • Two iPhones one account

Ok, I recently wiped out my phone, my wife and I share the same apple ID but obviously two different phones and two different numbers.  Before the wipe we had no issues, now when I text her sometimes she doesn't receive them, sometimes she receives them under HER name like she is the one that sent them, and others she receives them under my name like she should.  Anyone else have this issue? Is there a setting I need to change? Also she gets messages sent to her phone that I had sent to another number, sorry I know this probably is confusing.....it's really annoying need help!!!

  • 2 iPhones, one iTunes account

Sad to say this topic confuses the AT&T people as well as the Apple. Is anyone running two iPhones from one account.
EX. husband and wife both have iPhones with one home computer!!! Any help would be great!

That statement ("it can't be done") is not true at all, and I hate that you received bad info like that. I don't know if you already have an iPhone or not, but each iPhone is recognized separately by iTunes. You can set different settings for each iPhone and tell iTunes what to or not to sync when each iPhone is connected. (The syncing options work just like they do for iPods through iTunes). For instance, I had AT&T transfer all of the contacts from my old phone and my wife's old phone to a USB drive and then imported both sets of contacts (per AT&T's instructions) into Outlook. I set up a folder for her contacts and then a separate folder for my contacts. My iPhone is set to sync my contact folder only, so when I connect my iPhone, only my contacts are synced. Likewise, my wife's iPhone only syncs from her contact list. The same thing can be done with Music, Calendar, Photos, etc. Both of our iPhones have completely different media on them, but they are both synced from the same home computer. Hope this helps!

  • Two iphones one computer/itunes account?

I have two iphones (first generation and 3g) and I am looking for details on how to connect and setup the phones to one account while still keeping our stuff separate. I really don't want to have two accounts.

The easiest way to sync specific contacts is select specific groups or folders form the contact manager, in iTunes. Each iPhone will have its own specific sync settings. More detailed information available here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1386
If you want, you can separate things a little more by creating an alternate iTunes library or user account. This article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1495 was written for using multiple iPods with a single computer but it's the same general idea for iPhones, they are very similar.
You can sync multiple iPods and/or iPhone with the same iTunes account and library and each device has its own sync preferences with iTunes.
You can disable automatic syncing for each iPhone, or disable automatic syncing globally with iTunes when any iPod or iPhone is connected.
If both iPhones are syncing contact information with the same compatible address book, you won't be able to keep contact information separate. The sync process for contact information is a bidirectional or true sync process with the supported application on your computer.
If you want to keep contact info separate between the iPhones, create a user account on your computer for the 2nd iPhone for syncing contact information and/or calendar events only. The 2nd iPhone can sync iTunes content only with the current computer user account and iTunes library, and sync contact information and calendar events only with iTunes via the new computer user account.

  • 2 iphones with one account

Forgive me, I know this question has been asked before but I can't find the info I need. I am going to get a 3g iphone when it comes out. But I may keep my current iphone. can two iphones be used on one account? thanks for your help.

You can have two iphones on one computer and you can choose entirely different items (playlists, songs, podcasts, etc) to sync with each iphone.
You can also have two iphones on one AT&T account, but you do have to pay for the unlimited data plan on each - if you want all the features (i.e. visual voicemail) to work on each iphone.
As far as itunes(mobile - iphone app), If you want to buy music from both iphones itunes application, I'm not sure how that would work, sorry. But if your not planning to use each phone to purchase music - no issue. Maybe someone knows about this issue.
    Hope this helps.

  • I have three iPads and one iPod and one iPhone.  How can I message between them without sending the message to all of them.  You send the message to your email address but all of them are set up und one account.

I have three iPads and one iPod and one iPhone.  How can I message between them without sending the message to all of them.  You send the message to your email address but all of them are set up under one account.

You can have a different receiving email in the Messages app on each device : Settings > Messages > Receive At . I'm not sure that there is a different way to have the message only go to one device.

    Welcome to the Apple community.
iTunes and iCloud and different accounts, you will need to delete both accounts from your device before adding the new details in their place.
For iCloud go to settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit the delete button. You can then sign back in using your correct details. For iTunes go to settings >store, tap your account ID and then sign out, you can then sign back in using your correct Apple ID.

  • HT1420 How can I get past 5 authorized computers when we have more computers, ipads, iphones than allowed. I want to have parental control by sharing 1 apple ID with one account?

We have multiple computers, laptops, iphones and ipad in our home. We have kept one account for iTunes in order to monitor what my family downloads for parental monitoring. How can I get approval or allow for more devices to be 'authorized' to purchase from iTunes? I don't want to have to have more than one account that I have to monitor - technology is overwhelming enough to control with all the hackers and distasteful things on the web.

    Authorization applies ONLY to computers.
ipads/ipods/iphones/apple tvs are NOT authorized at all.

Welcome to the world of digital media. Your can't really transfer it. I don't know what the rules are about transferring to your spouse but I do know that in some cases when you die, your heirs cannot inherit your digital media. This is why there is still an advantage to buying the CD since the usage rights belong to whomever holds the physical media.
A possible workaround is to burn the songs to a music CD with yout account (tracks only without song titles) and then having your wife upload it as a regular music CD onto her account. It's been a while since i've done this so I'm not sure if it would work now.
Please note that I'm not advocating copyright and/or TOS violations. I'm only suggesting ways to copy music for your own personal use which has traditonally been permitted. I only did this because I wanted to convert iTunes songs to mp3 files so I could burn them onto a data CD for use in my car. It would make sense that since married couples are a joint entity, this would be personal use.
Also, I'm not a lawyer so don't take this as legal advice.

  • I am sending an email from one account on iphone 4s but the replies are coming into another account on my phone

I have had an iphone 4s for about a year and have 4 email accounts that come in on it: verizon, gmail, my work, and icloud.  Periodically, I send an email from one account, it shows the message as sent from that account in my sent mail, but the recipient receives it from the gmail account and therefore replies to the gmail.  Has anyone had this happen?  It is almost as if my messages are bouncing into gmail when I send them, although on my phone it shows as having been sent from another account.  I have not had this happen on my computer where I have all of these emails coming in as well.  I thought perhaps it was me not being careful about which account I was sending from when using my phone, but the mail I sent this morning I was very careful to make sure was from verizon, the sent mail on my phone shows it was sent from verizon, and the reply came in on gmail.  Gmail isn't even the default email address- verizon is! My iphone is using version 6.1.3. Does anyone have any ideas? This is a major problem for me so I appreciate any ideas!  Thank you!!!

I am not sure whether this is related, but I had a problem with Gmail where each time I sent and email via my iPhone it would bounce back in my Gmail account as unread. You migh want to check this Google article explaining why this happens and how to avoid it:
