Inconsistent Lock Button - iPhone 5
The lock button on my iPhone 5 works intermittently. One time you press it and it works fine - locking the phone, turning off the screen, etc., then the next time I'll press it two, three, four times before I have any luck getting it to function. Has anyone else had this problem or know what to do when this occurs?

Keep me posted on the issue as it progresses compurhythm78. I've read on other websites I've found via Google search that people with this problem have taken it to the Genius Bar at the Apple store and they have replaced their phone with a new one as this is a common hardware problem with the iPhone 5. I wanted to make this post on here as this is more of a credible site to see if this problem would be covered under the warranty or if anyone knew how to fix it (if that's even possible). It's not like it's a huge problem with the phone, but I use the lock button quite often and it's just really annoying having to hit the button multiple times to get it function.

Bought the iPhone 4 like a month ago.
Great device but I just got this minor issue.
Been using the APPLE BUMPER on it and since a day or two the sleep/lock button has been stuck. I need to push it REALLY hard and then it'll work.
Already called my service provider (since Apple doesn't have any support overhere) and they told me that it's my own fault and they can fix it for 300 $ (that's 215 euro's for JUST A SLEEP/LOCK button).
Does anyone else had this problem also and what can I do about it?See thread 2713539. You're by no means alone. Mine did it after about 7 months. It's not your fault, it's a fault with the iphone4 that Apple need to address and help their owners with. It's disgusting that owners are being charged for repairs. My understanding is that if it's within warranty, you can take it to an Apple Centre and it will be replaced with a refurbished unit immediately as there is no quick repair for this common design/manufacturing defect. I love my iphone but am not happy that outside warranty it seems you will be lucky if Apple don't just fob you off and make you pay for a hardware problem they know about but won't take liability for. I guess they're not making enough money.

Inconsistent lock button issues?
Has anyone had any problems with their lock button being inconsistent? I've found that I needed to press the lock down multiple times before I can get the screen to lock. I do have the 6.0.2 update if that means anything.

Faulty On/Off/Lock button iPhone 5
My iPhone 5 on/off/lock button has started playing up. I sent it away to O2 for repairs but they claim it is due to physical damage (which I am pretty sure it is not) and are trying to charge me for this. I have since googled this fault and it appears to be pretty common and should be covered by the warranty. Anyone else had issues with this and have any advice?
Make an appointment at the genius bar of your local Apple Store.
IF there is any physical damage to the phone, cracked screen, etc. then the warranty is void. It doesn't matter what caused the lock button to fail, if the phone is damaged, it's not covered. -
I'm having difficulties with the lock button on my iphone 5. it works when it feels like it. no warranty or insurance dont wanna pay the money to send it in.
The iPhone 5 is still under warranty. Call, AppleCare, take it to the Apple Store or call and Apple Authorized Service provider.

Hi, I have a problem with my iphone 5 where lock button does work half the time i press it and i have to press at the end of it. Phone is still under warranty. Can it be replace. I live in Malta. Would like an official reply in order to show to supplier

My lock button is completely dead, tried restoring ect.If I go to the apple store will the replace my iPhone or will they just fix it? It's still under warenty.
Apple handles this problem with Replacement iPhone 5. Make Genius reservation so you do not have a long wait. Until you get this resolved, try Virtual Lock Button, Settings App > General > Accessibility > Assistive Touch > ON > tap new white screen button > Device > Lock Screen. This can even turn iPhone OFF. To turn iPhone ON connect to power, charger or USB port of computer.

Light coming from screen under lock button (iPhone 5)
I can see a sliver of light coming thru in a crevice between the screen and the metal band, right below the sleep/wake button. Anyone else see that?

Unresponsive Lock Button - iphone 5
I have been facing a problem with my Iphone5. The lock button on the top is not responsive and it take me pressing it 3-4 times for it to actually act. Any idea on what seems to be the issue?
Take the device to Apple for evaluation and possible replacement before the warranty expires.

I have an iPhone 4 and my lock button is jammed and I also can not touch anything on the left side of my screen well as any pop ups from the phone itself, so i can not get past the set up stage in reset process...how can i fix it/can it be fixed?

IF the device does NOT have a cracked screen or liquid damage and is in hardware warrenty.. apple can repair/replace the device for free.
Call apple tech to find out what your croverage is for fixing that button

My iPhone 4 is stuck in the update screen and my lock button is not working. How can I fix this?
I just tried to update my iPhone 4 to 7.1 and for some strange reason the phone wouldn't update then wanted me to restore it... (Figures!) But my lock button no longer works so holding the home button and the lock button is a option I have to rule out. I have no way to repair my phone myself. What can I do?

I have an iphone 5 that ive had for two years. i plugged it in for the night to charge, and when i woke up it had a black screen. i tried to wake it up using the home button since my lock button does not work. ive tried to hold the lock and home button down for a certain amount of time, but it doesnt work, and im not sure if its the lock button or if my phone is just burnt out. please help.

Earlier i meantioned that my lock screen was broken. That was a mistake its my lock button i apologize. But do i still have to pay for my phone bill and activate my AT&T account in order to replace my iPhone 5 at an apple store?? Or not because of the one-year warranty??
The lock button on my iPhone5 has also started acting up. Extremely annoying. I have to get it replaced, but I've dropped my phone once and there is a scratch on the top left corner of the phone, so I'm not sure what the warranty says about this situation.

I purchased my iPhone 5 and the Applecare Protection Plan a little over a year ago at my Sprint store. I was not informed that I needed to register my Applecare Plan, so I didn't. Now, my lock button on my iPhone is broken and I want to get it fixed or receive a new phone. PeachMac told me they would give me a new phone which would be covered under my Applecare Plan. I logged into Apple to make sure I still had time on my plan, but it doesn't even recognize that I purchased one and I no longer have the receipt for the plan, let alone the phone. How can I register my plan without the receipt? I'm feeling kinda of ripped off by Apple. Shouldn't they keep a record of who purchases these plans?
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.Did you register the AppleCare+ plan at the time of purchase? If you didn't, even if you had the receipt, it's too late. It must be purchased and activated within 30 days of the initial purchase of the phone (it's usually done at the time of purchase). If Sprint didn't activate it at the time of sale, you can blame them. Apple doesn't control them.
