Inconsistent syncing

Hi. I have a few problems which I think are best captured in the images below. I am trying, without success, to sync my both of my IPADs. Something happened in the last two weeks that is making this process difficult (I don't know what).
The images reflect the test that highlights my problem. Image 1 (with all the movies) shows that I only have Lorax checked for syncing. After I sync, I check my IPAD and the only movie in the IPAD list is Lorax. BUT BUT BUT, beside the movie title, there is a circular icon. What is this?
Then I go into my IPAD and image three is a screen shot. We only see the movies I unchecked and don't see the movie I checked.
I am having similar problems with music files. Any assistance would be grateful.
Other notes:
1. the files in question work. I can view them on the computer.
2. I have restored one of the IPAD with no change...the problems exist.
3. I have uninstalled and re-installed iTunes. I also tried the "repair" iTunes feature.
4. Lorax was just downloaded from iTunes today.
thank you very much.

Well now it does seem like it's a problem with the video podcasts themselves. If I put the iPod in manual mode and try to drag those particular podcasts over, they won't take. Other video podcasts do. Which is strange because other episodes of the same podcast have worked fine in the past.
I noticed that these video podcasts have a ".mov" extension instead of ".mp4". Could the new iTunes be refusing to put them on there because of that?

  • Can't sync iPad 2 or iPhone 4 since updating iTunes on Windows 7.

Since upgrading my iPad 2 and my iPhone 4 to iOS 4.3.4 I havebeen unable to properly sync both devices with iTunes 10.4.0.80. I am using Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64-bit. The issue is when it goes to sync my contacts and calendar with Outlook 2010, it will just sit there for > 30 mins doing nothing but “syncing contacts”, not going beyond that point. I have to cancel sync to get out of it. Steps I have taken include unticking sync contacts, calendar, bookmarks and notes, (this allows apps and photos to sync without issue) , removing the Apple USB device in Device Manager, and finally reinstalling iTunes.
I’ve never had sync issues with previous iOS and iTunesversions on this PC.
I’m out of ideas, any help out there, please?

None of the solutions in this thread or other similar threads have worked for me. I have uninstalled and reinstalled all Apple files using the correct sequence. I have disabled all Outlook plugins except for the two Apple plugins. I have disabled Bonjour and run Itunes in Windows 7 Compatibility mode.
I also seem to have a slightly different issue and I think the issue may be with the Outlook Itunes plugin or the Outlook Change Notifier plugin.
Here's my situation since upgrading to iTunes 10.4.0.80 and iOS 4.3.5 - although the issues started with earlier versions of 10.4 and 4.3. I am using Outlook 2010 32 bit version on Windows 7 64 bit version. I am using Outlook with a PST file not MS Exchange.
    1. The sync appears to go okay with the backup, preparing to sync, syncing contacts, syncing calender, syncing notes, etc. Successful backups are shown in the Device tabs in Preferences and if I run iTunes diagnostics all tests are successful.
    2. Any edits I make in Contacts or Calender on my iPhone are not apparent in Outlook after a sync. The Notes seem to sync just fine.
    3. Edits I make to Contacts or Calender in MS Outlook are inconsistently synced to my iPhone. Sometimes they sync and sometimes they don't.
    4. No for the really wierd part. If I connect my iPad and sync all of the edits that were originally done on the iPhone are present and correct on the iPad. However, again edits that were originally done in Outlook are sporadic.
So it appears to me that the data in the Outlook file is probably syncing correctly but that the display of the data within outlook is not correct. This makes me think the Outlook Change Notifier might be the issue. I just don't know how to test this or fix this. I know there is a cache used with MS Exchange but I cannot find any cache with a PST file.
Any help or other ideas would be appreciated.

  • Pre-to-Google sync works only after fiddling

My primary calendar account on my Pre is Google. So, if I create a new calendar item on the Pre, it is a Google item by default. However, it never syncs to my Google Calendar on the web.
To get it to sync, I must change the event's calendar specification from Google to Palm Profile, and then back to Google. Then it syncs to Google OK.
This is a real pain. I hope this gets fixed in the near future.
Post relates to: Treo 700p (Verizon)

I have had this same problem with my Google calendar too. And, it has been a nagging problem from the beginning. Events that I enter on my Pre inconsistently sync with my Google calendar. Sometimes they sync and sometimes they don't. If I do the work around of changing the event to a Palm Profile event and then back to a Google calendar event, the sync will finally take place.
The reverse direction does not appear to have a problem, i.e.,  if I create an event onGoogle calendar, it syncs consistently down to my Pre.
Not sure if this is relevant or not, but my Google account is a Google Apps account, rather than a plain vanilla Gmail account. Theoretically, this should not make a difference, but thought I would throw it out there just in case it helps to track this bug down.

  • Messages not syncing between Yosemite and iPad

I've noticed that messages I send on my iPad seldom appear within messages on my Mac (Yosemite).    Or else they show up like a day or two later but it's not consistent.   Does anybody know how to get them to sync?
Also, I forgot to mention that the reverse is true, too, but less so.  Very inconsistent syncing.

  • Sync not working w/ version 4.3.4 and iTunes 10.4

I need help please. I just updated my iPhone to latest version 4.3.4 and updated iTunes to the current version, 10.4.  Now, my Microsoft Outlook calendar and my iPhone calendar will not sync.  It works perfectly fine before these updates.  It was a 2-way sync.  Now, if I enter anything in one location, it doesn't sync to the other at all - not even one-way sync.  I'd greatly appreciate any help if anyone has experienced this and knows how to fix.  Thank you!

  • New exchange emails not showing up in IOS6

    Ok'
I have been using IOS on iPad and Iphone against an Exchange2003 server for some time without problems.
Upgraded to IOS6 on both devices a month or so ago and had endless issues with battery problems (on the phione)
Found work arounds for those but over last few days have run into issues with email messages. Probably been going on for the last three days, although not entirely sure...
Right now email on the idevice does not download new messages from the server....until that message is opened by another client.
ie although new messages are being delivered to the mailbox they do NOT show in the idevice mail ...unless I log in using Outlook or OWA and open the message....as soon as message become 'read' they then appear a few seconds later in the idevice......
ive tried all different settings on the idevice, push, fetch, different time schedules all to no avail.
A week or so ago new messages were showing up as they appeared....now not.
I have deleted and reinstalled the mail account on thge iPad - no change.
What on earth is going on? Is anyone else seeing this?
why is imail no longer seeing 'unread' mail?
    Al.

    Ok
May have solved it. Was looking through my past posts and realised I had a similar though not identical problem last year. I fixed it by adding a registry setting to the MSExchangeIS service on the exchange2003 server:
    Inconsistent Sync::
If you are getting inconsistent Synchronisation from your device to your Exchange 2003 server, please add the following registry key to the server:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSExchangeIS\VirusScan
    ProactiveScanning REG_DWORD 1
Just checked the settings on that server and the value was set as 0, despite me setting it as 1 last year. So it's has obviously got changed back....by an AV update, by a Microsoft patch? Who knows? Anyway I made the change again to enable proactive AV (ie set the value as 1) then restarted the Information Store service.
Mail sync to the idevices now seems to be working, with messages showing up when they should. Why does this work?
Dunno....but it might help someone else have problems with unrealisable sync against exchange2003 servers.

  • Mail not connecting well with exchange

I connect with office 365 exchange for my mail.
Since Yosemite, I'm getting really inconsistent syncing.  Sometimes it's just not receiving, sending, transferring email etc at all.
I have to keep restarting the program, but it inevitably happens again.
    Very frustrating!!

Me too and it's causing a world of hurt since I use this at work. Sometimes it acts like it cannot send an email and I hit resend and people tell me they got my email 2-3 times or not at all.  Some emails stay in outbox for 10-20 mins.  Also not syncing well.  Some emails I read on my phone act like there are unread on my mac.  I have mine set to get new mail every minute, but sometimes 15 minutes go by before I see a new email.  I get endless "Drafts" since it thinks I'm never finishing sending my emails.  I called Apple this am and a senior tech acted like he had never heard of this happening.  Now I do know Microsoft is having some issues with 365 in the last 4-5 days, but still my Windows based co-workers hardly see any issues, so it's got to be Yosemite.  It was fine in Mavericks.

  • Can Reader for iPad list or indicate notes?

I have Reader on iPad 2, just installed, and I've read a similar discussion in 2012.  I'm hoping something has changed since then, with all the app updates.
Is there a way for me to find a list of notes, search notes, or some way of identifying when a page has a note?  I am utilizing bookmarks, already.  So that's not what I'm looking for. It's a very useful tool to have when you have several hundred pages to review.

  • Won't sync calender with mobileme "inconsistent data error message"

I have tried about everything that I can think of but can't seem to solve this problem.
I have a new Macbook Pro and have been using mobileme and ical for some time now. I can't get my Macbook Pro to sync with mobileme ical. It does sync with the address book, but when it gets to the ical portion it tries and then reports "can't sync due to inconsistent data on this computer. Correct data and resync calender".
I have no idea what the "inconsistent data" is. My computer gets its time from apple.com and the time/date is correct. What is the inconsistent data. My calender and schedule is a critical issue. Please help.

Errors in syncing can happen for all sorts of reasons - loss of network connectivity, for instance - and it might be necessary to reset the synced data from a reliable source. It's not talking about deleting anything - unless you have data on your new computer that you need to retain.
The document says that if you have this problem on your new machine, you probably need to overwrite that local data with data from MobileMe.
Personally, I've never lost any data with dotmac or MobileMe, so my experience is it can be relied on. I do, however, keep backups of all my data as well.

  • ICal wont sync due to inconsistent data

I get an error message saying... Calendars could not be synced due to inconsistent date. Confirm that your computers data is valid *+(not sure how to do this)+* then reset Calendars on .Mac in system preferences. *+( I have done this and had no luck)+*
I have also gone into isync and reset my sysc history and then re-synced... having all my computer data be replaced by the .Mac data. i get the same error.
I have 3 machines that should all be synced. I have just done a clean install on all machines in the following order:
a mac mini, a Powermac G5, and my Macbook. The macbook is the problem machine. the other 2 systems are synced perfectly.
    Any advice?

    Dude,
    Thanks!!!
I did two clean installations on my 2 MBPs to leopard starting Friday night and Finishing tonight. I opted to not migrate data because I wanted to leave all my messy Tiger stuff and start again.
My first MPB must be the dominant one on .Mac because
MBP-2 >> .Mac >> MPB-1 didn't work .. if it weren't for your reply I wouldn't have tried the other way around and would have just given up until next weekend.
    Thanks.

  • Sync error....ORA-00932 Inconsistent datatypes

    Hey all,
I am getting the following error when syncing:
MS-9109 n@86e554 (this seems to be random string) || ORA-00932: inconsistent datatypes
Now, I've narrowed it down to the field that causes this error to occur. It is important to note that if I don't touch the field (just keep the initial value from the initial sync to 8.1.7, things sync fine.
The error only occurs if I change the field value in 9iLite (which I am doing through me eVB app).
In 9iLite it is defined as:
    Data_Type = Number, Len = 5, N = Y, Prec = 5, Scale = 4
In 8.1.7 it is defined as:
    Data_type = Number (5,4) Null = N
I'm not sure why in Lite null is Y and in 8.1.7 null is N. I just let Oracle create the lite tables based on my snapshot. At any rate, the field is not null.
Does anyone have any thoughts? Does anyone know what the first part (MS-9109) of the error message is about? I can't find anything on it in Google.
    Thx.
    Darren

    Well,
If fixed my problem. I just re-wrote the sql I had defined in the snapshot for the table in question. Still not sure why it didn't initally work as I didn't change the logic at all.
    Darren.

  • "Inconsistent data" for sync

I am using Mobile Me to sync iCal with my home and work computers and my iPhone. My home computer (OS 10.5.8) has not been syncing with Mobile Me for a few weeks, saying "Calendars could not be synced due to inconsistent data." I have gone into my System Preferences and selected that the computer's iCal data is replaced by the Mobile Me data. When it attempts to sync again, I get the same message. I have also tried unselecting "Mobile Me" and then re-registering the computer, to sync from scratch. That has also not helped.
Any suggestions? My Mobile Me data is correct and up-to-date; I just want to replace my computer's info. Thanks in advance....

I have been trying to resolve this same problem for 2 weeks. My suggestion is to communicate with MobileMe support because it is included with your subscription.
I went to http://www.apple.com/support/mobileme and clicked on "Syncing with MobileMe" and then "Troubleshooting MobileMe Sync Issues." The last choice under "Have You Tried?" is Express Lane and I asked for a phone call rather than chat. I had about a 5 minute wait before help arrived. I made a backup of iCal using the File/Backup iCal command in iCal. I can't remember all the steps the tech had me go through but he said that the MobileMe database was corrupted. When it was done, I had duplicate calendars and events so I had to replace iCal with the saved file and then sync one direction from my computer to MobileMe. It took about 15 minutes for all the data to populate correctly. Then I added events both in my phone and on my computer. All seems to be working smoothly again.

  • Syncing of Notes is very inconsistent - sometimes works, sometimes not

The syncing of notes is inconsistent. Sometimes it syncs properly, sometimes not. I had a note with a food list, deleted stuff on the phone, and the sync brought back all the stuff I had deleted. I tried syncing with Mail not running and same deal - sometimes it works, sometimes not. It seems to work better if I edit the note on the Mac. In that case the changes always seem to work.

    Hello caryehart,
It sounds like your touchscreen is erratically functioning for you. I recommend the troubleshooting in the following article:
iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Troubleshooting touchscreen response
    Restart your device
Hold the On/Off button until "slide to power off" appears. Slide to power off your device. When it is off, press the On/Off button to turn it back on.
If you can't restart your device, reset it by pressing and holding the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for a least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
Clean the screen with a soft, slightly damp, lint-free cloth.
Avoid using the device while wearing gloves, with wet hands, or immediately after applying hand lotion.
If you have a protective case, or if you are using a plastic sheet or film on the display, try removing them and testing the device without it.
If the steps above don't resolve your issue, please schedule a service appointment with an Apple Retail Store for evaluation. If an Apple Retail store is not an option, contact Apple to find out your best service option or see the Service FAQ for your product.
If it comes down to contacting Apple with the above link, I would recommend you backup and restore your iPhone as a new device:
iOS: How to back up your data and set up your device as a new device
If it seems to function correctly after that, I would restore the backup and either verify that it still works, or isolate the issue to the backup itself.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Sterling

  • Address Book won't sync with MobileMe - inconsistent data!

I recently began getting 'Inconsistent Data' messages when I sync with MobileMe for my Address Book. I have always had an auto sync and never had this issue. I am told to reset the MobileMe data from another computer - which I have tried to do but with similar error results.
My most recent data is on MobileMe...I have so far failed to sync this data set with what's on my Mac Platforms.
I have tried to resort to merge data or erase data on this computer from the sync options dialogue box, but still end up with "inconsistent data. Try resetting your data on MobileMe".
I'm afraid that if I did that, then I will lose all my current data on MobileMe - which is the most recent, since most of my input for my contacts is made directly from my iPhone or iPad (both of which are syncing correctly).
    Anybody have any ideas?

I have the exact same problem but have not been able to get my computers to sync with contacts although my iphone and Ipad are working perfectly. I tried deleting all my contacts in both mobileme and locally and tried to sync but was unsuccessful and still get the inconsistent data message. I hope someone can help us.

  • IPad syncing is inconsistent

Our iPad3 was syncing fine since Christmas with iTunes/iCloud. Can sync Outlook 2010 email/calendar/contacts. suddenly today, have trouble deleting email. delete it on the iPad and it does not delete on the Dell laptop with Outlook. Select the item in Outlook, press delete key-nothing. To get it to work I had to power off/on the iPad and exit then re-run Outlook, although my wife said she'd already done that with Outlook 2-3 times with no luck. She didn not cycle the iPad, however. Now if I do test case emails from a 3rd computer, they sync and delete just fine. What gives? Further, the calendar won't get current. The iPad calendar shows events entered on that device but not older events entered on the Dell laptop.. The laptop does show events from the iPad, however.
Is this the normal "state of the art" of iPad syncing? Any comments on the Microsoft equivalent? I'm about to switch over.
    Thanks for any feedback!

Yes, constantly inconsistent! I'll give up trying until AAPL fixes their software.
