InCopy 5.5 (PC) in same workflow as InDesign 5.0 (Mac-OS)

Does anyone have experience working with a PC version of InCopy 5.5 in a Mac-OS InDesign 5.0 workflow? Are there any issues between platforms? We share files over a local network. Thanks.

As for "CS2 is unsupported under anything later than 10.4," FWIW, I find it intriguing that even my mid-Pleistocene ver. of ID 2.0 ran beautifully on my Intel MacMini (purchased in 2006) right up until I installed OS 10.6 this spring. Perhaps the distinction here is technical. Which is to suggest that even though an app may not be "supported," it may nonetheless be "compatible (i.e, runs fine).
Semantics aside, please consider my question answered. I'm obliged to you.

Can InCopy (CS5) be installed on same system as InDesign (CS5)?

I currently have Adobe CS4 Design Standard installed on an XP platform, and will soon be upgrading to CS5. We will also be rolling out a handful of InCopy CS5 installations to distribute the text editing workload. Since I will likely be responsible for training these users, I would like to test InCopy/InDesign functionality so I understand how best to teach them how to use it in our situation. Is it possible to install InCopy on my system with an existing InDesign installation? I had a prior issue when I upgraded to CS4. The new Acrobat Professional "broke" my Acrobat Reader installation (including file associations, browser plugins, etc.). Things seemed to return to normal after reinstalling Reader, but I'm still not convinced that everything is set up the way it should be. I am concerned that similar problems could occur with the InCopy installation.

You should never have two versions of Acrobat or Reader on the same Windows machine.
As for InCopy and InDesign on the same machine, there's no problem at all with that.

Two events for same workflow

Hi Friends,
I needs to develop a workflow. In my workflow i have to send email notification when it is relesed as well as if user will change the PO after finally released i need to send email notification for change also.
i.e : 1. email notification for PO aprroval
2. after finally approve the PO if they change again i have to send mail. In future also if they change released PO i have to send mail again.
Is this possible in one workflow OR i have to create 2 workflows.

Yes you can do this within the same workflow . Just add an entry in the transaction SWEC for change event of your object .
Here are the steps :
Click New Entry.
Give Change doc object .
Object type as your object .
Event as your event name which you created..
Select Change radio button .
Save.

How to edit the same iWeb site on 2 different Macs?

How can I edit the same iWeb site on 2 different Macs? I know we create a folder with the files, but when copying that to Mac2, iWeb on Mac2 doesn't see that folder - I can't see what the linkage is between the app's interface and the folder of site files....

The answer is Domain.sites (extension hidden by default). You'll find this on the Mac you used to create the site at Users/YourUserName/Library/Application Support/iWeb. Copy that file to removable media and drag it to the same location on the other Mac. Launch iWeb and you'll see the site structure in the Site Organizer.
Once you keep the Domain package in sync between the two machines everything will work smoothly no matter which you use. There's a neat tip here which may help in this respect, but you use whatever strategy you prefer:

Also we are having Mac book pro's (Late 2009 & 2010) after upgrading them to 10.8.5. Unable to launch the mac, getting only white screen with apple icon.
Let me know is there any specific Hardware (Graphic Cards) we need to use for the same.

Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partition & use Disk Utility from there to Repair the Disk, then Repair Permissions.

Indesign CC for Mac and PC are not the same?

I have creative cloud on a Mac and a PC. I cannot open the Mac Indesign files on the PC and it's frustrating. The whole point of getting Adobe CC was to be able to work on both platforms. The Mac version of Indesign is showing as 9.2.1 and the PC version is showing as 8.0.2. If you're never going to get the PC version the same, how can I revert the Mac back down to 8.0.2 so the files will be interchangeable?

I just saw where CC is only available for Windows 7 and higher and I am NOT upgrading XP so CS6 is all I can have on the PC. I'm downloading CS6 for the Mac now, so from now on my files should work on both.

Hi, we produce finals high res PDF catalog for print, and then we must produce one at 150 dpi, medium res and put it online.
When i redo my PDF 150 from InDesign, the size is 55 mb. If i try to Optimize my print PDF with the same settings than InDesign, i get 121 mb.
I duplicated the fixup Online publishing (optimize for quality) but i can't get below half the size InDesign gives me. The compatibility is 5.0 (6.0 gives me the same results) and we must keep tranparency because of the white lines that appears around the shadows

The introduction of the Creative Suite led to some really bad version-numbering problems. InDesign 3.0.1 is actually InDesign CS. InDesign CS3 is actually InDesign 5.0.something. So, I would guess that your coworker is sending you an actual CS3 (5.0.?) INDD, and you're trying to open it up with your CS (3.0.1) version, which is too old to open up your coworker's file.
In the HELP menu I check the version and I am running 3.0.1 of InDesign. The package clearly says CS3 on it.
Then what you have installed didn't come from that package. Fortunately, if you have the package, you can install CS3 for real, right?
Note that double-clicking an INDD file won't necessariliy open it up in the right version. You might need to open up CS3 yourself (probably from the STart menu, or by actually digging into your C:\Program Files\Adobe\etc folder) and then drag 'n' drop your coworker's file into it.

Incopy won't update design changes made in InDesign

Hi,
I'm using InCopy CS3 and InDesign CS3 on macs.
When our designer updates the design of the document (i.e. changes sizes of text boxes, etc.), incopy users do not get the yellow caution sign letting users know that their current version is out of date and that they need to update the design.
Strangely, incopy users are only notified that the design needs to be updated when our designer creates a new assignment.
Any help ASAP would be greatly appreciated.

I couldn't get my internet to hold at home on my new MacBook Air though it worked in other places and this is what I was told (p.s. the update seems to have worked and everything is running smoothly now):
Some MacBook Air (Mid 2013) computers may encounter an issue that, in rare instances, may cause an intermittent loss in wireless connectivity. The Wi-Fi menu bar icon may or may not indicate that a wireless connection still exists.
Resolution
Install MacBook Air (Mid 2013) Software Update 1.0 by running Software Update, or by downloading the update directly.

I am currently developing a WF which will be triggered through the 'PARKED' event of BUS2081 i.e through MIRO transaction . Now going ahead in the workflow the user will park the same document again the workflow should not get triggered at this point.
I am aware that I can create a Z table to store the Workitem Id and the document number and do the checks then.
I am currently looking to achieve this without the need for a Z table.Does any table exist which stores the object-key and the WF id combination?
Alternately please suggest ways.

You can use table SWWWIHEAD which stores all relevant data.
Now you can also use Function Module "SAP_WAPI_WORKITEMS_TO_OBJECT". In this Function Module you need to pass the Business Object and the Key field. If the Workflist table parameter is not empty that means a workflow instance is in progress and hence you can use this feature as an attribute in your Business object and set the Attribute value accordingly. Now you can use this attribute value in the start Condition of the Workflow(SWB_COND).

InCopy workflow in InDesign: Is there a way to find the document in which an ICML file has NOT been checked IN again before saving the doc?

The situation:
We are working with the InCopy feature (checking in and checking out ICML files).
The problem:
I might have saved a document with an ICML file still checked out.
The question:
Is there a way to find out which document was saved with the ICML file still checked out?
or in other words:
Is there a way to find the document in which an ICML file has NOT been checked IN again before saving the doc?

thank you for your answer and your reasonable recommendation. Unfortunately, this only works when the ICML content is used in one INDD file. In our case, we use ICML content in multiple docs (various manuals with the same safety instructions, warranties, adresses etc.).
So, is there a way to trace back where an ICML has been used?
Is it possible to find out in which document the ICML is still checked out?

On applyig leave request a workflow is triggered and notification is sent to the
Manager he approves it
Everything is fine
Now I have changed the workflow builder
That after the approval, a task(Step) has to be performed.so I added a step for that
Now I have 3 cases
On applying for leave request the manager has approved and the step is executed after that
But my problem is now
There are a few prior requests which wernt approved yet
On approving them the workflow builder which is called is previous one and not the current one
And the step is not executed after the approval ,How to resolve the issue

Hi,
If your workflow is a Event Based workflow, you can start the new workflow by raising the event manually again using SWUE. For this you need to know BO and triggering event , key of the object for your case.
If it is not a Event based workflow, you can start workflow by SWUS , providing all the mandatory and required container element values.
However, before starting you can delete/complete the existing workflow. To delete the existing workitems from user inboxes, you can use SWWL. If you also want to set the status of this workflow instance , then probably you need to execute few FM's to set the status to COMPLETED.
