InCopy is it stand-alone, or madatory with InDesign ?

Hi,
a simple question, i didn't found any answer about it : do i need Adobe InDesign to use Adobe InCopy ? Or is InCopy a stand alone software, which can be used lonely ?

How to run stand alone executables developed with different versions of LabView on the same system

I am using LabVIEW 8.2 to develop a stand alone executable for a target system. The target system already has a stand alone executable written by another vendor, using LabVIEW 7.1. I installed the LV RunTime Engine for 8.2 which left the 7.1 engine intact (as it should). The problem I am now having is that the drivers installed on the target system are incompatible with the NI-DMM vi's that I am using. My concern is that if I replace the old drivers with the ones I am using on my development platform I may end up breaking the old software. What would be an appropriate work around to ensure that the target system will be able to run both executables? (FWIW the system will NOT be running both executables concurrently.)
The target system is an embedded PXI card cage, running Windows XP, with a NI PXI-4070 DMM (among other instruments, however I have had not had this issue with the NI-DAQmx drivers).

Thanks for sharing your issue with the community. I am struggling to see what you mean by "break the software." If you only have the two executables and LV Run-Time versions 8.2 & 7.1, then you just need to go to http://www.ni.com/support/ » Drivers and Updates » Search within Results: » enter "NI-DMM" » GO to get the DMM driver you need. To see the driver you were using on the development machine, just go to Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX). The DMM driver should also automatically install DAQmx, NI-VISA, and NI-IVI, fyi.

Is mp3 licensing required for stand alone apps created with Flash Builder?

I've been writing some interactive educational software in ActionScript that utilizes Adobe AIR and plays mp3 files to communicate/instruct the user. I was wondering if I would need to pay mp3 licensing fees based on what I found at mp3licensing.com
I wrote to the folks at mplicensing.com and got the following question in reply:
Will the software itself include mp3 decode (playback) capability, or will it be using the decoder provided in Android. If the software doesn’t include mp3 code itself, but simply includes mp3 files for playback by the hardware device mp3 code, than you would need our content distribution license, not our electronic gaming license.
If this is true, then it may be that no license is needed at all, since we exempt from the need for our license any entity with mp3 revenues below USD $100,000 per year.
I responded:
I am writing this software in ActionScript using Adobe Flash Builder to create a stand alone application that will be bundled with Adobe AIR and use Adobe AIR to run. AIR supports Android, iOS, PC desktops, and Macs.
they replied:
I am not sure if AIR will play .mp3 files. If it does, and your code does not have mp3 encode or decode functionality, and AIR is simply used to play the content, and your revenues do not exceed USD $100,000 per year, our license is not required.
My question now is: Does Adobe AIR use the decoder provided in Android or does it have it's own decoding code? Are we subject to the licensing fees for games, etc when distributing programs that play MP3 files using Adobe AIR?

That site helps a little bit, but not totally. My existing server is Windows 2003 with 5 CALs included, and it works, though not because I understand the head-spinning details of Microsoft licensing. For example, I have no idea if I am actually
using the CALs, since the only thing ever done on that server (aside from web, email, and FTP) is me logging in by RDP to administer it.
I never considered 2008 Web edition because I might want to install something like the Access GUI, and the Web edition seems to forbid that. It was not clear if you could install third-party ftp server or mail server also. Web edition was a mysterious
product and is not my reference point.
It would be nice if Essentials could run a web server, since it's cheaper and simpler in terms of licensing. But nowhere is that stated yea or nay.
If I buy 2012 standard, do I need to spring for 5 CALs also? I need to administer by RDP, and have the other server drop backups onto the disk of the new one.

Error building stand alone application, with LV.7.01

Hi to all....
I always get this pop up error (see picture attached) when trying to build a Stand alone application. I got the full version of Labview 7.01 and the Application builder also. the runtime engine is also 7.01.

All comm. problem are handeled.
The problem was based on the destinations for the .VI's.
Labview 7.1 isn't so got to manage these. It's something the user got to be carefully about.
Allmost solved. But now can't get the default 'labview Icon' to my finnished Application. You know... when you make a stand alone application..
then somewhere under the building process... you can choose if you want your own Icon added as the application starter icon! If you don't choose any.. Labview makes the Labview Icon as your application starter Icon.
And that is my problem now. Any ideas???

Can Apple TV work stand alone once loaded with files?

My video library is at my home, attached to a quite firmly planted Dual 2GHz G5.
We have an HD compatible TV at a vacation home, and I'd like to load up an Apple TV from the iTunes library at my home, then move the device to the vacation home. There's no network or computer at the 2nd home.
Any reason why this won't work? We don't have HD at home, so there'll be no reason to buy the Apple TV if this won't work.

To be compatible with tv the tv needs to be widescreen and have component or HDMI inputs, it does not necessarily need to be HD.
In your situation you may have a couple of workarounds if your tv doesn't meet these specs.
If your tv has a DVI input you can use a HDMI to DVI cable, but you will have no sound.
If your tv has composite inputs you could run the yellow connector on the tv and connect it to the green (I think) connector on the tv, but your picture will be B&W.
If your tv is not WS your picture will likely be squashed.
These workarounds would not be particularly acceptable under usual circumstances, however if all you wish to do is load content for use with another tv, they may well be acceptable to you.

Is a stand alone Lightroom compatible and will interface with a cloud PS?

I've been using stand alone versions of LR5 and CS6 and want to convert to the cloud. I am told that there will be conflicts if there is a stand alone and cloud version of LR. True or not? and, will a stand alone LR5 interface with a cloud PS

PI 7.0 Java stack config of the stand-alone server to new cluster system

Hi colleagues,
we have a PI installation in stand alone server (SAP with abap +
java and Oracle in the same server)
The system number of the ABAP stack is 00, and we are conecting to the
Java stack to the for example the URL
http://hostname:50000/rep/start/index.jsp
We have installed a new PI in a MSCS and in some weeks, we´ll have to
copy the database and configuration of the stand-alone server to the
new cluster system. In the SAP PI installation on the MSCS, we have
confirmed that with the ABAP stack, we won´t have any issue because the
ASCS has the system number 00 (message server), so we only have to
install a SAP system in each nodes without care these new system
numbers because we are configuring a Logon group but the question is in
the Java stack... The SCS (service in the cluster) has the 01 system
number...
What is the best way to keep the same URL to the Java stack that in the
stand-alone server? (remember:
http://hostname:50000/rep/start/index.jsp )
Have we to install a Webdispatcher in the MSCS and one Java stack in
each node of the cluster? we think that is right but we have a lot of
doubts about the URL, the files of the Java (if they are stored in
local disk in one node, how are they replicated to the second node?)
and so on....
Could you give us any suggestion to make the "migration" from the stand-alone to a cluster in a transparent way for the users?

Our central SLD is on a standalone system
However slave SLD (to ensure autonomy and HA for production XI system) will be deployed on Java separated hardware system of Xi production system.
On master SLD all systems are described and all machine are linked with it (SLDAPICUST) except production XI one
On slave SLD, all data of master one are replicated and only XI system is linked with (SLDAPICUST)

Can we use both Stand alone and Extended classic in one SRM system

How did you end up solving your problem, as i have the same scenario. Did you use this BADI (
SRM Server->Business Add-Ins->Control Extended Classic Scenario->Activate Extended Classic Scenario)? Based on my reading, it seems this BADI is relevant to switch between extended classic and classic scenarios.
From what i understand, we can control the standalone scenario via the define backend system configuration (SAP SRM -> SRM Server -> Technical Basic Settings -> Define Backend System for Product Category). In my scenario, I have one set of product categories, so i will likely need to implement this BADI (BBP_DETERMINE_LOGSYS, method:   DETERMINE_LOGSYS - SAP SRM -> SRM Server -> Business Add-Ins ->Shopping Carts and Requirement Items -> Determine Backend System / Company Code) in order to determine the correct backend system based on company/plant for example.
Did you then leave the extended classic scenario activated (IMG --> Supplier Relationship Management -> SRM Server-> Cross-Application Basic Settings->
Activate Extended Classic Scenario)?
Or how did you achieve both standalone and extended classic using one SRM server?

Is it possible to place forward/back nav buttons in a timeline based gallery. Stand alone SWF needed.

I'm currently working on a gallery to be output as a stand-alone SWF file, and am doing it all on the timeline as I can't write actionscript for toffee
So far, I have the gallery created with alpha tweens fading between embedded images. These images are buttons, to which I have added URL links (my only foray into actionscript), which will send the user to a specific link related to the image being shown at the time. At the moment this is just a linear timeline that flows from start to finish and loops to the start again - as per most other simple timeline based animations.
I have now been asked if I can add two nav buttons (one each side of the frame) to allow the user to flip back and forth through the images. Is this possible on a timeline? And if so, how would it best be implimented? I just don't know if a button action can affect the flow of a timeline.
Ideally the gallery will auto flow, until either of the forward/back nav buttons are clicked.
Any help here would be really really appreciated.

Thanks for that Ned. I've had a quick look, and will research deeper later. Though being a complete and utter novice at actionscript, I am flummoxed by probably the simplest of stuff by your standards. For example, the scripts I saw briefly, using the searches you suggested appeared to not export a stand alone SWF file - with no XML files or image folders (I'm still to work out if is possible to do that for this particular use). Also, on all of the examples I saw, the buttons are embedded at the bottom of the pane, and I really need to put the buttons as plainly obvious clickable blobs on either side of the image area. This, again, I can easily do on a timeline (apart from actually making them work of course) but to do this with someone else's AS code, will need more time than I have to learn the relevent stuff.
Does it sound like I may have to just settle for a linear, non-interactive rotating gallery? - based on my knowledge limitations, as well as needing a stand alone SWF.

Recently, I see a message when I unlock my iPod Touch. It goes to one of the "General" settings screens and at the top says "Provisioning", then below shows Stand Alone Ad Hoc with an Expiration Date of Dec, 25, 2009. There is also a green check that indicates "Verified" and a red button for "Remove".
I don't know what to do when I see this, and I don't know what it means. Can anyone help?

Have you used your iPod for development? Or have you been testing iPod Touch apps for someone? That's a certificate that allows you to run developmental apps on your iPod Touch. It's telling you that it's expiring soon.
Unfortunately, I don't know exactly what happens when the provision certificate expires. I'll have to figure it out in a month or so, though, as the first of my provisions expire near the end of January.
If I find out anything more about what happens, I'll post back and let you know...

Hi,
1.) This depends on your application and of the configuration of OC4J (for example JVM parameter).
2.) Afaik there is no difference between both OC4J. OC4J which comes with JDev
is the J2EE runtime environment for JDeveloper. For development purposes it is much easier to use the embedded OC4J instead of deploying first the application to a remote OC4J.

Service Modules in 6500s, IPS/IDS and Stand-alone options.

Does the Service Module in the 6500 i.e. WS-SVC-ASASM1B-K9 come with or support an IPS/IDS option?
Does a stand-alone ASA5500 come with an installed IPS/IDS option.

On the Cat6k5 is the IDSM2. Thats a completely outdated module with 500 MBit/s of throuput. For the Datacenter designs Cisco recommends the standalone IPS 4500 instead a module if you need good IPS throughput.

The ASA has build-in IPS with a fixed signature-set that is not such rerlevant. The better way of doing IPS on the ASa is to have an optional IPS-module. These modules are didicated hardware on the legacy ASAs (the ones without -X) and pure software-modules on the new ASAs. The 5585 is an exception where IPS is also a dedicated hardware-module.

Stand-alone DFS Share - Folder targets - wrong credentials

Hi all
I am currently setting up a stand-alone DFS root with some Folder targets on different servers.
All server are Windows 2012 R2 with all available patches.
I use the stand-alone DFS because many users will access it with non domain computers.
I changed the DFS to FQDN and i can reach it without any problems. But as soon as i click to a folder target i get the message that i use the wrong logon name or password.
On the server that host this folder target i can see that the client want to logon with the local username and credentials. What of course does not work.
What must i do, that the client use the same credentials for connecting to the folder target server as connecting to the DFS share? And it must be done on the server side because i have no control over the clients. Must i do a credential delegation between
the DFS Share Server and the folder target server?

Hi,
If they are accessing the shares using NetBIOS name from non-domain workstation, it will use the logged on account. If you access the stand-alone DFS share by using FQDN from non-domain workstation, it will prompt for credentials and should use the domain’s
credentials.

Problems building a stand alone application with LV 8.6.1.

I'm having problems building a stand alone application with LV8.6.1. I'm using a USB- 6008 DAQ and USB-6501 Digital device in the application. I already have an simple executable on the machine so the Run time Engine is already installed. For the USB DAQ device, I assume I need to include the DAQmx8.8 as one of the installers. When I attempt to build the application, I'm prompted for several disk, one being a distribuition disk 1. I have the installation disk for the developer package. I did not see a distribuiton disk as one of the installation disks. When I insert disk 1 I get an error that another application is trying to run. Could someone tell me which installers I need to include and where do I find the "distributor" disk.

are you building installer for the first time on this PC?...It usually asks for the drivers CDs and some toolkits if required.
you just need to use drivers CDs (comes with LabVIEW) from which you installed on this PC. If you have ever upgraded drivers, then you have to use the latest CDs only.......
another issue may be ...when u insert the driver disk, it has autorun, it will launch drivers installation wizard....close that and then try to build distribution.........
