Incopy shuts down frequently

I am working in a longish document. Every five minutes, it seems, inCopy crashes. I can post the crash report, as it appears that noone at Adobe is going to help me out voluntarily, even though inCopy crashes nearly 30 times a day. At any rate, of late, it crashes at the slightest provocation: deleting text from a table (either multiple cells at a time or a single cell at a time), copying and pasting text from one place in a document to another, selecting a paragraph style in the style palette.
I am running CS5 7.0.4 on a Macbook Pro OS X 10.7.5 (Lion).

We are having the same issue, when editors try to update the file they will be working in it and the whole file will crash.  Several times the file has become corrupt and we have had to recreate it.  This all started when we moved to CS 6 and InCopy 8.0.  We are currently running InCopy 8.1 (hoping that would resolve the issue) and we have users that run Windows 7 SP 1 OS and Mac 0S X Lion all users are having the issue though.  Is there another update coming that could clean up some of these bugs?

    Hi,
Thank you for posting in the HP Support Forum.
In addition to what @visruth  has written, you can also try to download Speccy - http://www.piriform.com/speccy
This is free software for system information and it can show/measure the temperature of some of the computer components.
In my opinion your problem looks like overheating issue. When the computer's fan is not working, it overheats (especially if the CPU/HDD are overloaded with some tasks) and stops working (powers down unexpectedly with no messages) to prevent damage. If this is the case, it would be good to monitor the temperature.
If this is the case, authorized HP Support Center should be able to help you fix this. If you are not sure where such is located, you can contact the nearest HP contact -> http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-contact-us.html

  • Iphone 4 / 4s  shuts down frequently from itself

My girl-friend has an iphone 4 and since a few weeks it shuts down frequently spontaneous.
Replaced the battery and totally renewed the IOS. No succes. While doing this, my iphone 4 also shut down spontaneous!
Also replaced the battery and replaced the IOS. No succes. 2 Friends of mine have exactly the same problems with their iphone 4S.
Is there a wifi-virus in Nijmegen, The Netherlands???  Are there more people with this problem??
If shut down, it can be started up again by doing a reset. Our iphones are not reliable anymore.....

After I removed Facebook and FB messenger, my iphone problems vanished. No spontaneous shutdowns anymore.
My girl-friend first removed FB messenger with no succes. After removing Facebook, she also is free of problems.

  • My iPhone 4s shuts down Frequently

Please Help.........My Iphone 4s shuts down frequently even when the battery is at 70%.....how do i overcome this problem....thx

    Hi there naushdxb,
You may find the troubleshooting steps in the article below helpful.
Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIsand corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.
    Issue not resolved
My issue is still not resolved. What do I do next?

  • Powermac G5 shuts down frequently

I have a dual 2.3GHz G5 that has been been shutting down during normal use. I have come to think it may be related to audio hardware, as it frequently occurs when I try to start iTunes, Audacity(audio editor) and it seems to happen randomly while viewing web pages with embedded audio and video files. I reset the PRAM yesterday and the computer shut down on my first attempt to launch iTunes after the restart. I have the system profiler log that I ran after that. The line in that system.log section of the report that caught my attention was:
    2006 Nov 15 21:17:23 localhost kernel[0]: ApplePMU::PMU forced shutdown, cause = -122
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Walter

This is a common problem that Apple have not addressed. It seems people starting having this problem after update 10.4.7 onwards - and frequents with iTunes/Audio use.
So yes, it's a software issue. BUT on the other hand, some folk have had their hardware replaced and the shutdowns have stopped.
    check out this thread-

Basically, there is NO solution yet, just alot of guessing and crossed fingers.
If you call Apple support, they're pretty clueless - you'll go through the normal round of questions and then be told your power supply needs replacing.

  • TS3274 My iPad shuts down frequently while I am using it.  I took it to the Apple Store & they cleared it out and I reloaded the Apps and this didn't help.  What should I do?

I am stumped as my iPad2 is frequently shutting down while I am using it.  I took it to the Apple Store where they cleared it and I reloaded the Apps, but this didn't help.  It is less than a year old.

Another fellow Apple users suggested the following steps:
    1. Try a reset (probably unnecessary for you, but try it anyway)
    2. Clean docking port with clean tooth brush and alcohol (and not too much alcohol)
    3. Try another wall socket (preferably one that's not shared with other devices)
    4. Try another cable (make sure it's an original Apple cable)
    5. Try another charger (make sure it's an original Apple charger)
    6. Make sure you're not using a USB hub (may not have enough of power)

  • Program shuts down frequently

I have been cooking right along in Captivate, and making some really cool things.  Unfortunatly, I seem to have recently developed a glitch I cannot get rid of.  I attempt to copy a slide, import a slide, copy and paste significant portions of a slide to a new slide, etc., and Captivate gives me the "sorry for the inconvenience, but the program must shut down" window.
I have tried other files than what I was working in.  I have re-booted.  I have uninstalled and re-installed a new instance of the program.  I am at a loss.
    Thoughts on this?
    Thanks!

    Hi Anthony,
It would seem that your Captivate file might have become corrupted. In this first instance (if you are using Adobe Captivate 4 or later), I would look for the .bak file which Adobe Captivate automatically creates. Make a copy this file and remove the .bak file suffix. Next, try opening the backup file and see if that makes any difference.
If not then instead of trying to import your slides, I would suggest you carry out the following steps:
Open your original Adobe Captivate file
Load another instance of Adobe Captivate
Create a new blank project at the same size as your original and save it
Switch back to your original file, select all the slides and then copy al of these
Switch to your new file and paste them.
If all goes well you should then be able to save the new project file. However, if Adobe Captivate crashes this will tell you that there is a corrupted Slide / Object in your original project file. If that is the case then you should do the following:
Open your original and new created Adobe Captivate files; the new file should still consist of one blank slide.
Switch to the original file and start copying a small number of slides (maybe 10)
Switch to the newly file and paste these in.
    Save the newly created file
Now you should keep copying and pasting the slides from the original file. At some point you might find that one of the slides won't paste or that it might appear as a blank slide. Now you can either try to re-create that slide or switch back to the original file and try and work out which Slide in the last group of slides you copied where the corruption might of occured.
Let us know how you get on
    Best regards,
    Mark

When your fans are going and the computer is getting hot, go to Applications/ Utilities/ Activity Monitor. Change the pull-down menu to "All Processes" ("My Processes" is the default) and then sort by the CPU column. Is there something going on that is spiking your CPU?

  • Time Capsule shuts down frequently

Over the last few weeks my Time Capsule has been shutting down randomly.  I did a hard reset a couple of weeks ago and that seemed to resolve the situation for a time, but now it has recurred.

The new express I haven't had opportunity to test. I would say it was pretty much the same, although they are not as good as the extreme.. use 10/100 port still, can introduce a slow down. So if you can afford it the Extreme is always going to be better as a router or AP. Still the reality is wireless seldom gets close to 100mbit so whilst theoretical speeds require gigabit.. reality is a harsh word. If you are close enough to get more than 100mbit, you are close enough to use a patch cable. (That is assuming Apple didn't leave out the ethernet port of course).
In my testing the wireless of the whole series is medium.. middle of the road. Whilst the latest generation stuff is supposed to have big power boosts.. I could barely detect a difference.. and in my double storey house.. my old G modem has wireless signal right to the extreme ends of the house.. Neither the TC or latest Extreme could get any signal there at all. YMMV.. !

  • Safari shuts down frequently on ipad1

I am using an iPad, version 1. More and more when I start safari it will suddenly close. When I go back in I am taken to my last page but it is happening more frequently than before.

A number of users are experiencing this since the update to iOS 5. Try these basic troubleshooting steps and see if they help at all.
Close all apps in the recents tray and restart. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reset Safari - Go to Settings>Safari>Clear History, Cookies and Data. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

  • TV Box Shuts Down Frequently

    Hello,
Our TV boxes keep shutting off and resetting every 10 - 30 minutes.  It seems that when this happens that the internet also fails.
Has anyone else had this type of problem?  I am thinking that it may be a problem with the router or the TV boxes (Motorola 6416-2).
    Thanks!

I was having this same problem too. I got a UPS battery backup for the master bedroom and seemed to help. I say seemed, because the shutoffs slowed down to next to nothing after adding that box. I realized later after several weeks of being around the house and awake when the electric company gives us fits with the little half second brownouts or whatever it's called. So, I have to blame all the shutoffs on the electric company. It hasn't happened in a long time now but I'll bet it will now after reading your message and replying to you. I hope you figure it out on your end. I started dreading waking up and having to run around the house and turn on all the boxes. I had this same problem, only worse at another house I used to live in. I had constant electric outages over there. Still, a UPS is a good investment for anything entertainment wise. I have another one in the office taking care of the computers in there. Sure, they cost a tad bit but they are worth their weight in gold when you are in the middle of a t.v. show or typing something, only to have Mr. Electric company interrupt your power. But, with these battery boxes it saves you grief and you can keep on doing what you're doing after the monitor turns back on or you turn the screen back on manually.
Isn't life fun? I just got off the phone with a rep who had to re-download the software into a set-top here in the office as I wasn't getting but a fraction of the channels on the guide that I normally have. What's next I ask. It's always something it seems to keep you from what you really want to be doing.
    Good luck.

  • MBP 15Inch Shuts Down Frequently and Randomly

I appreciate if anyone taking a look at this report can shed any light... I've checked previous replies and tried most of the suggestions... but the problem persists... Short of going to buy a new one... what can I do (I live in Mallorca, Spain... and while there are authorized technical suppliers here, they inform me that it will take at least several weeks to check the equipment and determine a solution). I don't have time! Thanks in advance,

You have the Mid 2010 15-inch MacBook Pro, and the log shows that your NVIDIA GPU is damaged. "GPU Panic" means that the GPU is damaged.
Mid 2010 15-inch MacBooks Pro have got a defective NVIDIA GPU that may cause unexpected restarts, black screens, kernel panics... See > http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4088
Apple is repairing all of these MacBooks Pro free of charge if they were purchased less than 3 years ago, so make a backup of your files with Time Machine and take the MacBook Pro to an Apple Store or reseller. Print the log in case Apple refuses to repair the MacBook.
Send the link to one of the resellers there because Apple should have told them more about the replacement program. Anyway, you need a new logic board, so if resellers haven't got it now, this may take weeks.
As a temporary fix, download gfxCardStatus > http://gfx.io Then, open it and put it in integrated only, so your Mac won't use your NVIDIA GPU anymore. You will experience a GPU performance decrease
