Incorrect check lot number status in FCHI

Hi,
We have maintained Check Lots in FCHI. Recently, the whole number range for one of our check lots (05) got used up. (e.g. say it was 172001 to 175793). Now we increased the number range (eg. to 175950). What the system did after this was it automatically increased the Check Lot Number Status to 175950!! But this is wrong, as in the system, the last check issued within this number range was 175793. (I confirmed this in FCHN also).
Can anybody help in identifying why this is happening?
Thanks!
Regards,
Angad

HI Angad,
As per system your check lot has been exhuasted. So when u increased the number range to 175950, system picked up that number as next check number.
If your initial check lot is exhuasted, then do not change the number range of the exhuasted lot. Create the new check lot. Now please create a new check lot from 175794 - 175950. Then system will pick up you next check number as 175794.

Ajay

  • F-58 Print check without check lot number

    Hi experts,
I am testing the check printing function via F-58. The scenario would be without the check lot number because user will manually feed the check into the printer while printing.
But as i test in F-58, system keep forcing me to enter the check lot. Does anyone know how to print via F-58 without the check lot?
    Thanks in advance.
    Best regards,
    TCS

    Mate,
    Answer to your query is
Post the payment through F-53 manually
Go to FCH5   -  Give the Payment document and input the Check Number here.
Note: What ever is the next Check number from the Check lot deifned in FCHI, User has to give that only.
    F-53
    FCH5
    Hope it clarifies
    Thanks

  • AUTOMATIC PAYMENT PROGRAMME - Check Lots

    Hi All
When I m defining check lots in t.code FCHI, there are two fields:-
    1   check no. from
    2  check no. to
When I am entering different values in these fields, system is giving error message "checks numbers can not have different length"
Plz expplain these two fields. What is the relevance of these two fields.
    With Regards

    Hi Deepak,
In your examble, you have mentioned the starting number 100000 (6 digits) but ending number 1001000 (7 digits).
In practical business scenario, this will not come as the banks can issue only 6 digits check numbers in india.
To answer you question, go to TC: OBA5 give application area "FIBL"  if the Message Number "664" already exist with some user name, delete that and click on new enteries
    maintain the following parameters,
Msg    user name  Online  Batchl  Standard
    664      <blank>         S           S      By default it will be "E"
Save and now create two check lots,
    1. from 100000 to 999999  (next lot give your 1000000 to 1001000 lot number)
    2. from 1000000 to 1001000.
    Hope it clears your doubt

  • Check Lots

Now I am using the check lot 5011 which is in sequence but now i created a new check lot 5012 which is also in sequence and i mentioned nxt check lot as 5012 in 5011, i left one check in check lot 5011 and  i updated checks manually from check lot 5012...now my question is if i print the check through f-58( payment with print check) from which lot will it pick the check number...?

    Dear Laxman,
If you want to use check lot 512 you have to give the 512 lot number in F-58 initial screen itself. Then it will pick from the 512 only. If you give the lot number 511 and still it has checks then it will pick from the 511 lot. Basic thing is you have to give the input check lot number. For e.g--> now you are using lot 511 it has some check numbers in that lot also, but you want to give the check print from lot 512 then you have to maintain 512 lot as input in F-58.

  • Inspection lot number ranges skipping

My inspection lot number ranges are skipping, those are std number ranges like 01 origin, 04 origin etc, what could be the reason for that.
Inspn lots are getting generated and I took UD also. But certain numbers in the range got skipped.
Eg:- Incoming inspn lot 010000000041 then it comes 010000000045
Lot numbers 01/42, 01/43, 01/44 does not exist in sytem.
    Please suggest a way out

    Craig,
But expert suggestion says, not to switch off buffer thru SNRO as it may affect fuctionality as you said early in this discussion.
But I believe, this is to be relooked by SAP as number range skipping is not good (My case its skipping 5-7 numbers at a time). But I am not convinced with the reply from SAP also.
Anyway thanks to you craig for your advice.
SAP Note on this matter for reference of all. Thanks

    Summary
    Symptom
Gaps (jumps) occur when allocating internal numbers.
The status of the number range interval does not match the number that was last assigned.
The number assignment does not reflect the insert sequence.
IMPORTANT: Read Notes 504875 and 678501.

    Reason and Prerequisites
A large number of number range objects are buffered. When the system buffers a number range object, it does not update numbers individually in the database but reserves a preset group of numbers (depending on the number range object) in the database the first time a number is requested, and makes these numbers available to the application server in question. The following numbers can then be taken directly from the application server buffer. New numbers are not used in the database until the application server buffer has been used up.
The effects described under "Symptom" are a direct consequence of this:
If an application server is shut down, the numbers that are left in the buffer (that is, that are not yet assigned) are lost. As a result, there are gaps in the number assignment.
The status of the number range interval reflects the next free number that has not yet been transferred to an application server for intermediate buffering. The current number level therefore does not display the number of the "next" object.
The current number level (for each server) can be displayed using Transaction SM56. Call transaction SM56 and choose the menu 'Goto' -> 'Entries'. In the dialog box, enter the client, the affected number range object (for example, RK_BELEG) and possibly the required subobject (corresponds to the controlling area for the object RK_BELEG).
If you use several application servers, the numerical sequence will not reflect the (chronological) insert sequence because the numbers are buffered separately on the individual hosts.
Buffering the number range objects has a positive effect on performance, because the system no longer has to access the database (number range table NRIV) for each posting. Furthermore, a serialization of this table (database locking) is prevented to a large extent so that posting procedures can be carried out in parallel.
    Solution
Since number range buffering does not cause any expressly assured qualities to be lost, no correction is required.
If you still require continuous allocation, you can deactivate the number range buffering specifically for individual objects.
    Proceed as follows:
    - Start Transaction SNRO and enter the affected object.
    - Choose 'Change'.
    - Deactivate buffering: Choose 'Edit' -> 'Set Up Buffering' -> 'No Buffering'.
    - If you want to change the buffer size only, enter the corresponding value in the field 'No. of numbers in buffer'.
    - Save the changes.
Please note that this change is a modification. The modification is overwritten as soon as the affected number range object is redelivered - in other words, you must check the change manually each time you import a release.
In particular, read Note 678501, bearing in mind that changing the buffering type - if not explicitly recommended by SAP - constitutes a modification. For other possible solutions, refer to the following notes:
    179224, 599157 and 840901.
For the the following number range objects, gaps may cause users to have doubts since they are 'expecting' a sequential numbering:
    Area CO:
    - RK_BELEG   (CO Document)
CAUTION: Note that the problems described in Notes 20965 and 29030 may occur if you deactivate buffering.
    - COPA_IST (Document number in actual posting)
    - COPA_PLAN  (Document number in planned posting)
    - COPA_OBJ   (Profitability segment number)
    Area FI:
    - DEBITOR    (Customer master data)
    - KREDITOR   (Vendor master data)
    Area HR:
    - RP_REINR  (Trip numbers)
    Area PM, PP, PS
    - AUFTRAG    (Order number, production, process, maintenance order, network number)
    - QMEL_NR    (Number range - message)
    Area MM:
    - MATBELEG   (Material documents)
    - MATERIALNR (Material master)
    Area QM:
    - QLOSE      (Inspection lots in QM)
    - QMEL_NR    (Number range - message)
    - QMERK      (Confirmation number)
    - QMERKMALE  (Master inspection characteristics in QSS)
    - QMERKRUECK (Confirmation number of an inspection characteristic in QM results processing)
    - QMETHODEN  (Inspection methods in QM)
    - ROUTING_Q  (Number ranges for inspection plans)
    - QCONTROLCH (Quality control chart)
    Area Workflow:
    - EDIDOC     (IDocs)
Number range buffering can be activated or deactivated at any time.
Number range objects that have to be continuous due to legal specifications (for example, RF_BELEG, RV_BELEG), or due to a corresponding application logic must not be buffered using the buffering type 'Main memory buffering'. See also Notes 37844 (for RF_BELEG) and 23835 (for RV_BELEG).

  • Check Lot Configuration

    Experts,
Is there any place we need to mention the length of the check lot while configuring house banks ? The reason i am asking this is i am configuring check lots for a house bank and i get this error when it is 7 digits long i.e 7000000 to 7999999, where as when i make it nine digits i don't see any error.
The error i get is "  Check the format of the check numbers - Message no. FIBL 664"
Could someone please let me know how to overcome this error.
All answers would be duly appreciated and rewarded with points.
    Thanks,
    Nandita

    Hi Nandita,
You can swith off this message in the below.
SPRO/Cross-Application Components/Bank Directory/Change Message Control For Bank Master Record.
Here you enter the Application Area FIBL and check is there any entry with message number 664. If yes then, change the status to Switch off. If not create a new entry with this number and give the status to swithc off.
And one more thing please check the User Name field also. If you give blank it will applicable for all the users.
    Best Regards

  • Maintain Check Lots

    Hi Experts,
I'm trying to maintain check lots in FCHI for several housebanks. I have successfully maintained the check number series on all housebanks except for one.  The error below ppeared when I tried to save the data.
Check the format of the check numbers
    Message no. FIBL664
    Diagnosis
A check number consists of a numeric character string, but can contain a non-numeric prefix (CH000014) or suffix (000014X).
The structure of the check number entered does not correspond to the other check numbers of the bank account. There could be discrepancies in the length, the prefix, or the suffix.
    Effects on Customizing
You can define when this system message is to be issued in accordance with your requirements.
You do this in Customizing as follows: Cross-Application Components -> Bank Directory -> Change Message Control.
The application area and message number can be taken from the technical documentation

  • Cheque Nos to be pick up automatically from Check Lot

    Dear Friends,
    I would like to know.
Our client requirement is As we are entering Cheque Nos from to in FCHI to create a check lot. A development would like as we select Bank Account for payment, system should give next no automatically in assignment field wherein we are entering the same for reconcilaition purpose. So no manual cheque no to be instered in assignment field.
    Kindly guide in this scenario.
    Thanks & regards,
    Vinayak S Vaidya

    Hi,
Not sure if this will work but if you dont mind, you can try it out. My current system have restriction for me to do any testing. Sorry.
SPRO --> Financial Accounting --> Accounts Receivable and Account Payable --> Customer Accounts --> Line Items --> Display Line Items --> Define Additional Fields for Line Item Display
Use the path above to add the additional field "Check number" to the table. Then go to the path below:
SPRO --> Financial Accounting --> Accounts Receivable and Account Payable --> Customer Accounts --> Line Items --> Display Line Items --> Display Line Items without ALV --> Define Standard Sorting for Line Item Display
Use the path above to create a new Sort Key which you can maintain it in the Vendor Master Data later on at the Sort Key Field. This Sort Key Field will be populated at the assignment field.
But the problem is, whether or not you are able to add the field "Check Number" in the sort key creation.
I'm sorry for not able to provide better solutions.

    Hi Ravi,
There are a lot of FM's ( NUMBERRANGE* ) from se37 which can be used to get the information you need.
Check them you might not need to code to get the current number, The FM will do for you.

  • Create check lot for cash journal

I need to create the check lot in order to link this to cash journal.
Currently we are using the check lot to pay vendors (AP) and the doc
type KZ is triggered and other payments through GL which gives doc type
    PV.
Now I will need to create a check lot in order for receiving a check
into my petty cash through the cash journal.
Usually, the steps involved is via FCHI, FCH5 and lastly FBZ5.
How do I ensure that when a check is issued from our bank to cash
journal and I record this in FBCJ, the doc type triggered is also PV.
Another problem is that we require the payment advice to be created for
    the check issued via FBZ5.
    Regards.

Can't it be routed through one time vendor account
issue a check to one time account & later in FBCJ do a receipt from the same one time account. So you dont have to create a sepreate check lot for cash journal.
One time account has to be cleared manually.
You dont have to use check related transaction to create the checks sepreately,
    Hope this solves your issue.
Revert if not solved in detail.

    OR
INDBK with account id 1100 - in such case Iam able to do f-58 payment transaction
Iam able to do EITHR of the above .When I tried to save both account ids with same house

Pls adivse how can all accounts under a house bank can be configured for F-58 pymnt+check.
    Looking forward for your help.

    HI -
It appears in FBZA you can only assign 1 house bank linked to 1 account ID 1-2-1 relationship.
Therefore can anyone tell me why this error is triggering in F-58? Check lot not found.
I have setup the check lots via FCHi, when I try to create the Account ID in FBZA, I get the error below, Can anyone please tell how we can use Other Account IDs via F-58, at the moement we are using for our head-office IBHO would like to use for the above 3 branches - Which has the same house bank but different account ID.
