Incorrect colors in LR 2

Hi Everyone,
I am running Adobe Lightroom 2 in Windows 7. I have a Dell U2410 monitor using the factory setting sRGB profile.
Colors display fine in all my applications - except Adobe Lightroom 2:  Pictures are displayed with a mild yellow hue.  If I export photo and display in other applications- they look fine.
My guess is that LR 2 is displaying pictures using the incorrect profile - but I don't really knowif it is he case.
Any suggestion?

Hi Everyone,
I thank everyone for the responses. However, I must have  a very very simple setting incorrect in Lightroom because the colours are incorrect.
How do I know?
Well - I created a picture that is grey - just grey.  All RGB values are set to the same colour.  I didn't save it with any profile attached.
This shows up as grey in:
(a). Picture Window Pro (with colour management setup to display as RGB).
(b). Imatch (with colour management set up)
(c). In every single Windows program, colour managed or not.
If I read this into Lightroom, it displays as a greenish/yellowish colour.
I took a screen shot, saved it, and - guess what? It is saved as a yellowish green colour (even though the pixel readout is that the colours are neutral in Lightroom).
I am attaching the original grey scale file and a print screen of this grey as seen in Adobe Lightroom.
I know that I must be doing something very silly in Adobe Lightroom.
Any suggestions?

  • Layer Group Channel blending, incorrect colors

    Hello!
Wanted to bring up an issue that has troubled me in Photoshop for years, with the hope of it gaining some traction for fixing. For a while now (unsure which version), it was possible to set a Layer Group to filter/isolate a specific channel. This is a very useful feature for me, in creating channel masks for game assets and for use in real time shader techniques. However, it has a very large flaw that has made the feature largely unusable - and I'm surprised others have not had the issue as well as it should affect print as well (if in a lesser effect).
When you use this feature, and essentially mask the contents of a layer to the Red, Green, or Blue channels, the layers in those Groups are still hit by color management, which results in the pixels drawing and blending incorrect colors. an example:
In the first file, each group is set to blend to a specific channel, and a black to white gradient is applied in that layer.
In the second file, those same layers are copied and pasted into the channels of a new RGB document. The file already looks very different.
Finally, in the 3rd file the two layers are compared using the Difference blend mode. Can observe the difference between the two layers here, which is a result of the first method (Layer Grouping) not blending the pixels properly as if they were a channel - which when using the R/G/B blend masking on Group Properties, is what should be expected.
When i use this technique of pushing certain black and white images into a channel, they are made for a specific purpose and function. Since the layer group blending alters what the values of those pixels are (very important for real time shader creation) in the final file, it makes this amazingly useful feature unusable. I would LOVE to be able to have Layer Group channel blending be a part of my workflow, instead of constantly copying and pasting into channels. I have created various scripts to save these types of files out easier, but i could greatly simplify them by being able to save this 'RGB Mask' file directly from my PSD.
Wanted to share and start a discussion about it, to see if it would be possible to get a fix for this in the future!
    thanks!
    Maury

  • Some pictures show up with incorrect colors

some pictures show up with incorrect colors(eg. a person with green skin), and on Yahoo mail, the background which is supposed to be blue shows up as pink, as does the place where a user avatar would be.

This can be caused by a problem with the color profile for your display monitor or color profiles embedded in images.<br />
You can disable color management to test that.<br />
You can set the pref gfx.color_management.mode to 0 on the about:config page to disable Color Management.<br />
You need to close and restart Firefox or maybe even reboot the computer to make the change effective.<br />

  • Incorrect colors when drawing an image

    Hello!
I use Java 5 update 4 and Windows XP in 16-bit color depth mode. I run the following code:
    BufferedImage in=ImageIO.read(<A_JPG_FILE>);
    BufferedImage im=GraphicsEnvironment.getLocalGraphicsEnvironment().getDefaultScreenDevice().getDefaultConfiguration().createCompatibleImage(in.getWidth(),in.getHeight());
    Graphics g=im.createGraphics();
    g.drawImage(in,0,0,null);
g.dispose();If I paint the image in a Graphics context that has the INTERPOLATION_BILINEAR rendering hint set, the colors change and the resulting image displayed is incorrect. E.g. blue becomes magenta.
This happens only to "compatible" images.
Does anybody know why this color shifting happens? Is there any workaround?
    Thank you,
    George Vasiliou

Tho this my not be the solution, have you tried using a Graphics2D object instead of a Graphics object (using the method drawImage(BufferedImage, BufferedImageOp, int, int) )? I suggest you try it out, you never know (I don't know if this will actually make a difference, but it can't kill to try).

  • Incorrect Color Output when Printing

I've place a CMYK image from photoshop into indesign. It has a dark blue background and prints correctly out of photoshop. Indesign, however, prints the blue as a rich purple color. The color output is set to composite CMYK. When I change the output to composite RGB, the color changes to a lighter blue, but it's not exact as the original photoshop file. Everything appears fine on the monitor, but prints incorrectly. I'm running on a Mac Pro dual 3.0Ghz, 4Gb ram, and printing to a Konica Minolta C451. Any ideas?

That is a feature of RGB to cmyk conversion. There is a mathematical tendency for the conversion to be non-linear, it actually spirals towards the red in those colours.

You can do a hue shift layer specifically for the blues and bend it back into shape.

I'm exporting the video using almost the same parameters from the original file.
Here's a screen shot of my settings in Premiere:
As you can see in the printscreen, the settings only differ from the original file parameters in the bit rate (which i raised a little),
the TV standard (which i have no ideia what it changes), the level of H.264 (which i raised from 4.0 to 4.1, 5.0 and 5.1), and the bit rate encoding (which i've tried using CBR, VBR 1, and VBR 2).
Just for my curiosity...why these numbers in orange are so extensive? I mean, the original video is only 01:35:30:06 in final output (which is correct).
Notice that i do not use key frame distance (as i don't know what it does).
If i'm doing something wrong, please tell me.

Well if i do that, the video will raise up GBs larger (and that is really bad).
    Why is it really bad?
Its a fact of digital  life. High datarate = quality.
example ...even the Youtube preset is in the 8mpbs area.
...and you are exporting 1 hr 35mins of media.

  • Windows Vista Photo Gallery displays incorrect colors? Photoshop?

    Hi all
I have two PC's running Windows Vista that I work with and both have photoshop CS3 installed, but for what ever reason on one of the PC's the Windows Photo Gallery application displays really desaturated colors when views jpg's and the like (the other PC's displays them fine).
I've googled and haven't yet found out a quality solution, lots of info on simply combining and replacing drivers and the like and nothing really set in stone from Adobe, or Microsoft etc
    Any help would be great

Are both your monitors hardware calibrated? Is Windows Photo Gallery a fully colour managed application?
If the answer to one or both questions is no then you cannot expect similar results.
If the monitors are calibrated and Photoshop has identical colour settings then the images should appear similar on each computer.

  • PS Elements 11 -- Incorrect Colors, color painted not matching color selected -- Help please!

Having a really odd issue with colors. The color that I have in my brush/paint bucket does not match the color that I picked up in my eye dropper/foreground color. Instead it paints out some diluted version of the color I'm using, and I have no idea why. I tried to look up a solution -- I reset the paint brush, all of the tools. And I have no layer styles set on said layers used.
Any ideas how I could fix this? I need too desperately.. And as a side note, I am using RGB for color.

Suggest that you reset the brush tool. On the tool's option bar, look for this:
Click on it to reset the tools. If that does not fix it, go to Edit>Preferences>General and look for for this:
Click on it, close PSE, then open the program.

  • Lightroom 5.0 and 5.2 - incorrect colors in Adobe Flash galeries

For unknown reason Lightroom 5 is not able to create the Adobe Flash Galerie type in correct quality. The pictures created are dull and dark and there is typicaly only narow properly colored band on top of the picture. The same JPG set of pictures can be used on the same computer to create Flash galery in Adobe Bridge. I realised that when I open the galery made y Lightroom in Microsoft browser it shows those dull colors. When I open the same galery in Google Chrome, pictures look OK. On the other hand older galeries from about half year ago look OK in both browsers. I have tried to reload Flash player and also upgraded Lightroom 5 to Lightroom 5.2 but it did not solve the problem. Other types on galeries (not the Adobe Flash) can be created by Lightroom in proper quality. Any hint advise how to sort this problem?

Moving this discussion to the Photoshop Lightroom forum.
Osprey71 I would recommend leaving both installation entries installed.

  • Incorrect Color Profile

I've calibrated my monitor so that it's 2.2 Television Gamma but the setting doesn't seem to stay in place for very long on my Apple Display.
I have set up both the Macbook Pro and the Apple Display to the same calibration and given it the name "Gamma 2.2" but if I disconnect the Display for a while and then reconnect the colour on the Display has a yellowy hue to it.
This is sometimes the case on the MacBook as well but instead there is a Bluey hue.
I then have to go back into the Color Settings and create a new profile - very annoying after a while.
    Any ideas?

I'm having exactly the same problem as well. Sometimes, after sleep, it has the correct Gamma 2.2. profile and sometimes it doesn't. As soon as I click on Displays, in the System Prefs, it changes back to what it should be namely Gamma 2.2.
    Very frustrating.
I also have an external Apple Display connected and it also happens with this on random occasions!

  • Incorrect colors after importing a RAW image into LR

I shoot in RAW mode using Canon EOS 400D.
After importing RAW images into LR, EVERY image I shot gets oversaturated with green-yellow colors. If I open same image in C1 Pro colors look fine.
If I change shooting mode on my camera to JPG (using sRGB color space) and import image into LR, colors look same as on RAW image in C1 Pro. All settings in LR and C1 Pro are set to default.
My guess is that LR applies wrong (camera?) profile when it imports a RAW image. I don't think it's a difference in RAW converters, because the difference in colors is really huge.
In the Camera Calibration panel I see ACR 3.6 profile selected and all settings are set to 0. Using sliders I can correct colors on image, but I failed to make a generic preset that could be applied on all imported RAW images.
My monitor (Samsung 940BF) is setup to use manufacturer ICC profile. I tried to change it to sRGB or Adobe RGB, it doesn't help. I'm running Windows XP SP2.
Any thoughts on how to return colors back to normal?
Here are 2 examples of the same image converted by:

    Morey,
there is no such options as "import settings into LR" you have to put the ACR-settings-file into the "~/Library/Adobe Lightroom/Develop Presets" folder (on a Mac). I think in the end its faster to just copy the numbers manually from ACR and save the preset from within LR.
No, I don't think that calibrating has anything to do with profiles, at least not from what I understand as a profile (like sRGB or ProPhoto profile). It is kind of changing the stored default calibration values for a given camera type (something which one of course could also call a profile). It is definitive not like doing any double profiling or so.
    @Lee Jay,
on different forums you can find values for ACR camera calibration of different cameras, googling should reveal some. Problem is that the numbers for the calibration change with the lens and, more important, there seems to be a lot of leeway regarding the behaviour of individual cameras of the same model. I found a lot of numbers on the net which didn't work with my D70, in the end I had to calibrate it myself. But your experience might differ, so I would suggest that you just have a look at what google offers.
One last thing: You don't need to buy a PS version which is compatible with ACR 3.7 or 4.0. You can use the 30 day trial version of PS for this. Afterall you most probably only need to calibrate each camera once and I doubt that Adobe disapproves this use of a trial version as long as it helps to sell LR. ;-)
    Bye,
    Carsten

  • Save For Web Color incorrect color shifting

SFW (CS3) isn't functioning correctly, or perhaps I'm missing a pref or configuration.
When I go to SFW, the image in the SFW window no matter what setting or level (even 100%) and resulting file is lighter, as in washed out, from it's PSD parent.
Even viewing the Original from within SFW is not the at the original levels. It's washed out.
As a test, if I do a Save As from the same PSD parent to a JPEG at 12, the file is the same level quality as it's PSD parent as expected/desired.
As such, SFW is unusable for me.
CS3, Mac Pro Quade Core 2x3GHz, OSX 10.5.5

Thanks Ann. Here's what I have:
    In Edit > Color Settings:
    Working Spaces: RGB sRGB IEC...
Color Mgmt Polices: Convert to Working RGB
    Convert to Profile:
    Source Space Profile: sRGB IEC..
    Conversion Options:
    Engine: Adobe ACE
    Intent: Perceptual
    Use Black Point Compensation (√)
    Use Dither (√)
In SFW: Convert to sRGB is selected
I'm looking at a head shot 72 dpi and the woman's face is lighter using these settings from within SFW looking at what SFW calls "Original" versus the real original outside of SFW.
Saving a SFW jpg at 100% yields a lighter image than doing a Save As jpg at 12.
I have both a HP LP3065 30" and Apple 22" Cinema display and the SFW processed file is lighter on both screens. Although the SFW Original is lighter on the HP than when looking at same on the Cinema. But the output is lighter and consistent viewing on both displays. Lighter than should be.
The Cinema is set to Apple's stock "Apple Cinema Display" profile and HP doesn't support us with a Mac calibrator, but I did the best I could with Apple's - in Prefs > Display.
Regardless, it seems that SFW is the problem (in my logical but limited color mgmt knowledge). I can save as a Save As jpg and get the expected color level consistent with the original on both my HP and Cinema. Isn't this the deciding factor? The consistency across both. Wouldn't that point to SFW being the problem, since Save As works correctly?
And Peter, I totally agree with you, we need to search first. I did on "Save For Web Color Shifting" but didn't find it. I found other SFW issues, but somehow not my issue. Still, my apologies.
    Thanks to both.

  • Over-saturation/Vibrancy/Incorrect color-sync

Whatever you want to call it. I've seen there are a couple of other posts but wondered if there was a different name that people were calling it.
Automaticlly iphoto shows photos as being over-saturated, so does preview and lightroom which makes it incredibly hard to edit because the colors aren't accurate.
PLEASE HELP? No one at my local Apple store could figure it out.

Is it a system wide appearance problem or just with the pictures? If system wide, try looking at System Preferences/Displays and checking you have the correct 'profile' selected. If it's just the pictures, is it possible that these pictures came from the same camera and that the camera exposure setting is out of whack?
