Incorrect dates on iPhoto '09 photos

After upgrading to Mac OS X (10.6) the date that is shown in the photo info window, together with the location and description, is wrong, but the dates shown in the extended photo info are all correct and the Event dates are all correct as well.
In the wrong dates only the month is wrong and is always January. The day and year are correct, but all my photos in iPhoto are from 2009.
I have rebuild my library using iPhoto Library Manager but the problem remains.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Hello there,
I am also the same problem with my iPhoto. I have just upgraded from a G3 iBook to my recent MacBook and have realised that it IS different. My problem is the same as the problem above, but instead of only having the same month appear, the dates that appear for each event album is stuck at January 5, 2009 regardless of when I upload the photos and when they were taken. However, the dates in the extended information are all correct.
I have tried changing the dates in International but to no effect. I have also tried changing the dates by changing them under the Photos tab in iPhoto.
Is there anything else I could do to rectify the problem?

  • Events has incorrect date range even though photos have been correctly adjusted

I'm using iPhoto '11 (9.1.2) and have imported a bunch of old photos that had incorrect exif data, presumably from the camera having the wrong date set at the time.  For example I have an event called "Christmas 08" which contained photos dated from 4-6 Dec 2028; which I've since deduced were actually taken 4-6 Jan 2008.  Knowing that iPhoto can correct this sort of error I used the Photos > Adjust date and time menu option to take over 7200 days off the images and overwrite the originals into the bargain.  Initially the results looked good - all the photos from the 26 affected events now show the correct date information in the info panel and when one of the events is selected the date range shown in the info panel reflects the new date range of the photos within it.
Weirdly though, the dates shown underneath the event are still the 2028 dates and the event is still ordered chronologically after my recent 2011 photos - consequently these events are considered "within the last 12 months" by iTunes even though the photos are all correctly identified as around 2.5 years old. Presumably this will mean that these events are set float at the top of my events list and plague me for the next 17 years unless this gets fixed.
What should I be doing to make iPhoto do the right thing?
    Thanks,
    Rob

This has been reported several times in iPhoto '11 version 9.1.2 - it appears to be a bug - the only reported workaround that has been posted is to correct the dates on the photos and create a new event with them - try flagging all of the photos in the bad event after the dates are correct and then create a new event from the flagged photos

I would expect a correction in a future upgrade

  • Incorrect dates on iPhoto video when accessed by iMovie '09??

    Hi,
I have a few videos in iPhoto. All have the correct time and date.
iMovie '09 has access to these, but is showing the incorrect date on some of them (even though iPhoto is showing the correct date). The date is the same - 31 December 1903.
It has been like this since I first used iMovie '09.
    Can anybody help?
    Cheers.
BTW, how do I contact Apple support about something like this? I can't find any e-mail support.

NeddySeagoon - wondering if you found the answer to this?
I too have iPhoto videos showing up in iMovie fine, but the dates are wrong in iMovie (correct in iPhoto).
Also, I have updated video titles in iPhoto, but those titles are not showing up consistently in iMovie. Perhaps related issue, I'm not sure.
Any idea if this could be a permissions issue? (Video is stored on an external drive). Or something else?
    Thanks!

  • Photos uploaded to facebook have incorrect date in iPHOTO

I found about 30 events in iPHOTO with a single photo in them.
I panicked - thinking all the remaining photos from each event were missing.
Then I noticed every single event had the same date - Jan 1, 2013 - even though all of the photos were from earlier dates.
Finally I noticed that these seem to be photos that were originally in iPHOTO and had been uploaded to Facebook from iPHOTO (again- these photos were all uploaded BEFORE Jan 1, 2013) .
Does anyone know what is going on here?
    Thanks

There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 9 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS. So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Include things like:
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For example, if you have a problem with exporting, then explain by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
    - History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted? - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
    - Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.

  • IMovie 09 with incorrect dates from iPhoto video clips ?

Hello. I just noticed that the majority of dates in my iMovie 09 for my iPhoto video clips all show the date for 1903. I need to go back and change the date in too many video clips to count. Is there an easier way to go back to the orginal dates? Thank you.

  • Iphoto is date stamping my imported photos with an incorrect year

I have imported a number of photos from my camera sd cards to iphoto via the card slot on my Mac.  Some have been incorrectly year stamped (confirmed in the "info" button in iphoto) e.g. the latest import is showing 7 September 2012 and should be stamped 7 September 2013 and the photos are obviously catalogued in the incorrect date sequence in iphoto.  Is this a software fault or can I fix this myself, please? The fault has occured with different sd cards.
    HELP please.

You can fix it with the Photos Menu command to adjut date and time.

  • IPhoto imports photos with wrong dates even if the dates are fine on the camera

    Hi!
When I import photos with iPhoto, sometimes it imports them with wrong dates, even the dates are fine on the camera. It puts dates such as 2032. Does anyone know how can I fix that. As far as I know there is no way to change dates of the photos.
    Thanks!

well that is very confusing since if the date is correct on the camera it will be correct in iPhoto

Try looking through your iPhto menus - two commands - adjust time and date and batch change time and date - asjust is used to correct incorrect dates like a comera setting -   Batch change for missing dates like with scans

  • IPhoto gets the wrong date/time when importing photos

I just imported a bunch of photos from a Canon Digital Rebel XT. I took the photos today, 10/22/05, but iPhoto has them labelled with yesterday's date. Furthermore, the times are incorrect, with AM and PM apparently switched.
Looking back now, it seems that there's the same problem with all of the photos I've imported with this camera (which I got last month). I don't know if iPhoto has been screwing these things up the whole time, or if this is something that just happened.
I've just triple checked the date/time setting on the camera and confirmed that it is correct. I've confirmed that my computer's date & time are correct also. The other data imported with each photo appears to be correct (e.g. camera make & modal, focal length, ISO speed, etc.).
Anyone have any idea what's going on and how I can fix it?

    Jason,
Which date are you referring to? The EXIF date that is in the Get info window, or the date that is listed in the left info window. If it is the date that is in the info window on the left it is easy enough to fix. Just highlight and put in the correct date. If you need to do this to a lot of images then use the batch change function.
If the EXIF data is wrong, I recommend using the software from canon to get the best EXIF data added to your pics. I realize this adds an additional step, but it will fix your problem. The other thing is that if you start to shoot in RAW, your camera is not supported by iPhoto. So if you attempt to import RAW files from the XT directly into iPhoto it will not import them. I have this camera and it is one of the reasons I have stopped using iPhoto for most things.
You can get the latest versions of the canon software from Canon.com I recommend using these as they are much better than what was in the box that came with my XT. If you plan on working with RAW get the Digital Photo Professional (DDP) Along with the Canons image browser. Both work well on my powerbook and should be great on a Powermac.
    Hope this helps.

  • How do I change a photo's date in iPhoto '11 9.2.3?!?

How do I change a photo's date in iPhoto '11 9.2.3?!?  I've been able to do it before through the "info" link, but don't have that option in this latest version...?  It messes up my chronological event files when people have their camera date set wrong and I can't fix it!  Thanks for any ideas you can provide.

  • I need help proving the date tag on a photo stored in my iPhoto is from the date it was sent to my iphone/date it was imported into iphoto - and that it is NOT the date the photo was actually taken.  Please help!

I need help proving the date tag on a photo stored in my iPhoto is from the date it was sent to my iphone/date it was imported into iphoto - and that it is NOT the date the photo was actually taken.   I recieved a photo via text on my iphone and then I synced my iphone to my macbook and now it is in iphoto.  I already know that the date on the photo per the tag that shows up on it in iphoto is NOT the date the photo was actually taken.  I need article or literature or something confirming the tag is from when it was sent to the iphone and/or when it was imported.  I greatly appreciate some assistance!

All I am trying to do is find something on a forum board or article etc stating that the the date showing in iphoto could be the date it was imported or synced or sent to me and not the actual date taken.
The date on the photo could be anything because you can edit the date with iPhoto or any of 100 apps, free and paid for. So, the date on the photo will prove nothing, I'm afraid.

    TD

  • I prefer to arrange my photos by title but when I shut down Iphoto, my photos rearrange by date.  This is not acceptable for my growing library of snanned black and white ancestral photos. How do I get photos in events to stay in place ?

I prefer to arrange my photos by title but when I shut down Iphoto, my photos rearrange by date.  This is not acceptable for my growing library of snanned black and white ancestral photos. How do I get photos in events to stay in place ?

I actually am illiterate on the use of the finder to to view photos in folders.  I guess I will go to a class at the local Apple store for a lesson on the uses of finder .
My method of viewing my photos are through events in I photo.
    1. Download  from camera or scan  in from old photos.
2  I organize photos into events by occasion, or happenings in a certain year, or a group of photos with memorabilia of a certain person from childhood and on. etc.
    3.  Because Iphoto does not allow rearranging as I was able to do in my old PC with Corell,  I drag all of the photos to an " album" on the left side of sceen.
    4.  I arrange photos in "order" after which I number each photo in sequence. I do this for a few of reasons.
              - if a photo is accidentally deleted I know it.  I can usually remedy this by checking my trash or
    rescanning.
              - I can sort by title without complications and this holds in "album"
    5.  The pictures will re arrange automatially to match the album in I photo.
    6.  This worked great in I-photo 09 but now in mountain lion the pictures in events go back to "
sort by date" and will not hold "sort to Title"each time I photo is closed down.  What a nuicance it is to have to go  to view and click "title"  again and again every time Iphoto is opened.
    7. Can I go back to Photo 09? .

  • Importing old albums and photo data from iPhoto 5 to iPhoto6

    Hi-
I recently got a Macbook Pro to replace my Powerbook G4 whose hard drive died. Luckily before it totally died, I got my iPhoto Library folder backed up on an external hard drive. I have all the album data files and library files as well as all the folders of photos.
I was running iPhoto 5 on my old machine, and this one came with iPhoto 6. I'm happy to have the upgrade, but I can't figure out how to import all the albums themselves and the data associated with the photos.
All I've been able to do is import the photos folder by folder from the "Originals" folder. The problem is that now all the photos are showing the date and time of when they were copied to the external drive, not when they were taken, and they are no longer sorted into albums.
I know that there must be a way to get back my data without going through and individually changing the dates on all the photos and trying to figure out what albums they belonged in and when they were taken. In the meantime, I have over 4000 photos which are sorted in absolutely no manner and have completely nonsensical dates!
I tried copying the files from the old iPhoto Library folder (AlbumData.xml, Dir.data, Library.cache, and Library.data) into my new iPhoto Library folder, but apparently there is something else that needs to be done, since this effectively did nothing.
Any help that anyone can give would be greatly appreciated!

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. All you need to do is copy your V5 library folder intact into the Pictures folder on the MBP. I'd then download and run BatChmod on the iPhoto Library folder with the settings shown here, substituting your account name for mine. You can either type in the path to the folder or just drag the folder into that field. This is just to make sure the ownership and access is correctly set before you run iPhoto 6 and update the library to the new version.
When you first launch iPhoto 6 is will tell you that it needs to update the library so select Update. That's all there is to it. Then V6 library will have all of the albums, keywords, comments, etc. that the V5 version had.
