Incorrect days of music

Under "All" iTunes reports 30.6 days of music, which is wrong. When I individually check each genre I get:
Country - 38 mins
Hip Hop - 18.1 hours
Pop - 2.9 hours
Rock - 4.4 days
Soundtrack - 12.2 hours
Where is the 30.6 days coming from??

I do not, only music. The iTunes Music folder says 11.37gb, which is also what the program reports. My iPod also sits at 11.37gb.

  • The Day That Music Died

After 4 days without music and having tried the "fixes" listed in these forums without any success I have resorted to just writing to complain. I might as well since I can no longer listen to my music without iTunes shutting down after 2 or 3 songs. After searching news articles hoping for a hint as to when Apple might fix the problem the universal news regarding Apple's position was "Apple would not answer phone calls or respond to emails".
My question is, has Microsoft bought out Apple?

I WAS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. TRY THE FOLLOWING PROCEDURE!
I FOUND IT IN ANOTHER FORUM AND IT WORKED FOR ME!
I may have a solution that will work.
Check your audio settings- go to your Applications
folder, then to Utilities, then open the application
Audio Midi Settings. Under Audio Device check the
Audio Output- Format- Your settings might be
something crazy like 96000.0 Hz - I changed mine back
to the original setting of 32000.0 Hz and no
    problems!
I've been able to listen to music for about a good
half hour now- while this solution might just seem
premature, this is something I haven't been able to
do for a week- Sometimes it happens on my machine
that the audio settings get messed up after I
    install an update or something.
Please let me know how many other users crash issues
with iTunes is resolved with this - and if your
settings were 96000.0 Hz as well... You may also
recently noticed that some multimedia will not play
audio properly. The incorrect settings will do this
    also.
I don't know what is behind this but I had a
similar problem happen to me last year too. Apple
should really take care of this- Or am I doing
    something wrong?

  • I downloaded ITunes on a new computer a while ago but have been afraid to do a sync, Today I did and now lost 3.5 days of music?? I have checked my itunes folder and they arent there either. Are they gone forever?

I downloaded itunes on a new computer a while ago but was too afraid to syn. I did sync just now and lost 3.5 days of music, have checked my itunes music file and they arent there either. Im sure the music is all still on my old computer but it is broken and i cant access it. Are they all really gone forever?

Not without your old computer, no you can't. You could use Home Sharing to get content to your new one, but again, you would need access to the old one. My question is... before syncing to the new one... a message pops up warning you that syncing will erase the content from the iPod and replace it with the content in the new library. Did you ignore this warning?

  • Days of Music

I downloaded the latest version of Itunes, 7.3.2.6
I have noticed that where it used to say approx 11. whatever days of music at the bottom, it is now showing 373.2 days and even I know this is impossible on a 30gig Ipod!
Whilst it is not imperative for me to have this information, it was quite an interesting feature and I'd like it back working correctly if anyone knows how to correct this....

My iTunes was showing similar erroneous information. In sorting by song duration, I found that iTunes was calculating that 2 songs had extremely long durations (many days worth each). I deleted these two corrupted songs and now the information shows as realistic again.

  • How many GB is 1.7 days of music?

I need to know approximately how many GB that 1.7 days of music is...if you can tell me how many GB one hour of music takes, that's fine too.

if you can tell me how many GB one hour of music takes, that's fine too.
I  must disagree with my friend Kappy.  You are surely asking not about USB transfer rates, but about the size of the music files, correct?
Normal music files with 256 kbps encoding (e.g. iTunes Plus) take about 2 MB per minute of music, which is 120 MB for an hour of music.
1.7 days of music will take about 4 GB of music. If you have many files at bitrates other than 256, it may be much higher or lower, probably in the range of 2-10 GB.  But it will not by any stretch be terabytes.

  • 36 days of music to 14 days....How do I get music back

I used to have 36 days of music on my library, 40 movies, 50 Itouch apps and when I logged on I now only have 14 days of music and 12 movies. All my purchased items and playlists are gone as well. They are not in my recycle bin. What can I do?
    Thanks!

  • 50 Days of Music!!

I recently added about 10 or 11 new albums to my iTunes library, which was on 16.7 days total playing time (about 28Gb; roughly 6200 songs).
I noticed that the total playing time has leapt to over 50 days now. I am sure this is wrong. Those 10 CDs did not have over 3 days of music on them. (They were imported correctly).
I have upgraded to the latest iTunes 6.
Any ideas on how to fix this? Is this a bug in iTunes software?
    Any help gratefully accepted!
    J

I have the same experience, and have checked the songs to see if one is really long and if there are duplicates. The problem is that there is an inconsistency between the size of the music in GB (in my case 21 GB) and the days of music (in my case, showing 78 days). A colleague has 15.2 G and 8.3 days and we are using the same storage density.
Not a big deal, more of an annoyance, but if I could fix it, I would.

  • "Days of music" in bottom of window.

I just now noticed that where it says "days", in the bottom of the iTunes window, for about 25 GB of music, it displays 39624.3 days worth of music. Do you know why this is? Is there any way I could fix that minor annoyance?

Yes, I just noticed that, but I am sure that the figure "39624.3 days" for 6070 songs is significantly incorrect. I remember the number of days being much less. Where is iTunes getting this huge number from? How could I get it to show the actual days worth of music in my library? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Oracle returning incorrect day of the week

    Hi there,
I have a table named Performance, which includes a date field named PDATE, some other attributes such as title, etc, and a field named WEEKDAY, which includes the numerical value for the day of the week. Here is an example:
    PER#
    P#
    THEATRE#
    WEEKDAY
    PDATE

I went to verify the day of the week in a calendar (in fact I checked more than one) and I noticed that the Weekday value seems incorrect. For instance, the 2nd of March was a Tuesday so I would expect WEEKDAY to say 3 (considering Sunday to be the 1st day of the week, which is the universal norm), or perhaps 2 (considering Monday to be the 1st day of the week).
First thing that came to mind is, since the WEEKDAY is a number field which has been pre-populated, the person who populated it made a mistake.
So I went to verify this by running a query that would give me the correct day of the week by extracting it from the PDATE field:
SELECT DISTINCT pdate, EXTRACT(year from pdate) year,
    to_char(to_date(pdate,'DD/MM/YYYY'),'DY') weekdaycalc, weekday
    FROM ops$yyang00.Performance
    ORDER BY pdate
And to my astonishment, I got the following table as a return:
    PDATE
    YEAR
    WEEKDAYCALC
    WEEKDAY

As you can see, all of the above WEEKDAYCALC values are incorrect, and seem to match the incorrect values in WEEKDAY.
I could perhaps understand some weird WEEKDAY numbering if there is some general database setting where I could specify any day of the week to be the first day. However, I can't think of any logical explanation on why Oracle would call a Tuesday Sunday.
Could someone please advise what I mght be doing wrong? This is driving me insane!
Thank you in advance for all the help and support.

Based on your explanations, I changed the formula so the date format would be processed as YY rather than YYY.
SELECT DISTINCT pdate, EXTRACT(year from pdate) year,
    to_char(to_date(pdate,'DD/MM/YY'),'DY') weekdaycalc, weekday

The interesting bit here, is the original WEEKDAY field, which clearly has been created with the same mistake I did (this whole table wasn't created by me). I reckon I spotted a design bug.
    Regards,
    P.
No; you're still calling TO_DATE on something that is already a DATE, and you're still using an implicit conversion (only now you're using a format such that the current NLS settings don't cause you to get punished.  If your DBA changes the NLS settings next week, then you will have similar errors again.)
If you want to see what day of the week pdate is, then use:
    TO_CHAR (pdate, 'DY')
    or, to make it NLS-independent:
    TO_CHAR (pdate, 'DY', 'NLS_DATE_LANGUAGE=ENGLISH')
This is simpler than what you posted, it's more efficient and easier to debug and to maintain, and it also gets the results you want in all cases.
One more time: TO_DATE, as the name hints, converts something (a VARCHAR2, to be precise) TO a DATE.  If pdate is already a DATE, then what do you need to convert?  You're implicitly converting a DATE to a VARCHAR2, then explicitly converting that VARCHAR2 back to a DATE, and then calling TO_CHAR.  That's 3 function calls (1 of them error prone) where only 1 is needed.
Also if you ever have to reconcile 2-digit years with 4-digit years (and, again, in this problem you don't) the correct way is to convert the 2-digit year to a 4-digit year, not vice-versa.
Calling Tuesday the 1st day of the week could make sense in a particular application.

  • Macbook Pro with Retina Display 128 GB Flash Storage. Will it hold 28 days of music?

I just got the lowest level of Macbook Pro with Retina Display. I have a lot of music, that I would ideally like to transfer to my new laptop, but I have had trouble understanding whether or not it would fit. I don't know if it will. I have about 28 days worth of music. Can I transfer my library without messing my new computer up?

Open iTunes and display your music library. In the iTunes status bar at the bottom of the window you should see what you wish to know. Or you can simply select your /Home/Music/ folder then Press COMMAND-I to open the Get Info window where the size of the folder willl be displayed in the upper panel.

  • Multi-Day External Meeting Invites Showing Incorrect Days To Recipient

We are having an odd issue in our Exchange 2010 (SP3) environment with multi-day external meeting requests coming in with the wrong days. This does occur not
with internal meeting requests of the same day and time settings.
As you can see below, one of our external partners is sending a meeting request that is to occur
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM, but when users in our system receive it, Outlook is saying it is scheduled
Sunday and Monday 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM.
I have checked to ensure the time and date are correct on all of our Exchange servers and the clients experincing the issue. Looking at the invite in OWA also yields the same results.
I also had another external partner send a similar invite and got the same results, so I know it is not isolated to the one external domain.
Google searches have turned up nothing with this particular issue, mostly people having time zone descrpencies, and iOS specific bugs.
Has anyone seen this before and know what we can do to fix it?
Please let me know if I can provide any further information about our environment that would help track this down.

We are having the exact same issue. We are running 2010 SP2 RU6. Multi-day meetings such as Monday, Wednesday and Friday show up as Sunday and Monday when sent to us by an outside Exchange environment. This cannot be replicated internally obviously.
Time is correct and Time Zone settings on our DC's and Exchange are fine. Also I'd like to note we are using IronPorts with ESMTP as our smart hosts.

  • ITunes showing incorrect amount of music on iPhone 6

Just upgraded to iPhone 6. Brought new phone home and restored from iTunes backup.  Of course, music/playlist in not included in restore yet, in iTunes, my new iPhone shows same amount of songs of original iPhone 4s (733 songs, 3.1 GBs.) However, new iPhone actually only has 11 songs! When checking capacity on actual iPhone 6, (Settings>General>About>Available) the device shows having 8.1 GB of available space and 11 songs.  What gives?  Note: I manually manage music and videos on my devices with iTunes. Always have, always will.  Any help would be gratefully appreciated!  Thanks!

    iPhone 6, OS: 8.0.2

In case anyone else finds this post with a similar problem.. I found a solution. (posted by a user named txforever)
Manually change the date back several months (or years if need be) and then go in to your Recently Deleted Photos folder. Don't be fooled by it telling you there are 0 photos. If you actually open it up, suddenly you will find all the old photos that should've been deleted but never were.
I emptied it and my problem is solved.
    Hooray!
I feel like Apple should issue this as a known solution to this bug that a lot of people seem to be having. And also, they should fix the bug of course.
